Diesel could think of literally no one who actually enjoyed doing the whole “required energy draining quota” deal. It was a chore no matter which way he looked at it, and boring by virtue of that. He understood the need, sure. Since he couldn’t access his world's magic, he needed Metallia’s. And Metallia’s needed to be replenished.
At least it was easier as a Super. He didn’t have to actually touch anyone, anymore, but he still had to be close enough for it to be noticeable. Not that much of a deal on the party scene, with enough moving bodies around him that no one even blinked at a weirdly-dressed stranger or the flicker of purply orbs fluttering from his targets. It was, however, significantly more noticeable when he was out in the street, where passerby was more scarce.
“Can we get this over with already? I wanna go home, where bed is,” Gremlin groused in a hiss from his perch across Diesel’s shoulders.
For all the Mauvian’s tempestuous nature, he hung around more often than Diesel would expect. Gremlin insisted it was because the senshi was warm, which only barely made up for him being an ungrateful, filthy, two-legged rat.
“I didn’t ask you to come,” Diesel retorted with a shrug, “And if anyone was out, we would be done already. Where the frick is everyone? This is taking forever like this.” It probably didn’t help that he didn’t engage in all the theatrical acrobatics of flipping around across the building tops while he moved. It’s not like anyone would be up there. Just seemed smarter to stay down at street level, where the people would actually be. He canted his head a bit, enough to notch his chin against Gremlin’s flank. “Bet it’d be more entertaining if you weren’t here, actually. Might run into an actual fight.”
The Mauvian scoffed, whipping his face away from Diesel’s touch with a ’tsk’. “Forgive me for not leaving myself all exposed with only your stupid, worthless a** to defend me. You want a fight? Go find one, then. Brat.”
With a snort, he slid from Diesel's shoulders, landing on the ground with a sound reminiscent of a slap as bare paws hit the pavement. Gremlin pounced up to a fence post that lined the edge of the nearby sidewalk, and trotted ahead at a pace quick enough to separate them, leaving Diesel trailing alone down the walkway.

It was rather warm tonight, something Eli enjoyed. Granted, he didnt try to wear shorts or anything like that, but he had to admit, he was sweating quite a bit in the sweat pants and wife beater he was in. Lily was going to shove him out of the bed if he tried getting in without a shower first. The thought made him chuckle bit once he stopped to take a chug of the weird health drink concoction he recived from chef the last time he was at the Jacobs mansion. "Only Xander would try to get me to add something to the damned water I was happily drinking...."
As much as he loved his wife, her brother in law killed him sometimes.
Eli resumed his jog, picking up the pace this time. It was getting a bit later than usuall, and he was sure Colin would not go to sleep until he was home, meaning he would have to place him in his own bed. Kid had a habit of crawling into their bed when one of them wasnt home.

From his perch atop the fencepost, and ahead of Diesel, anyway, Gremlin was the first to spot the jogger: a young man out later than he should be. Honestly, how could it possibly be a surprise that hardly anyone came out alone at night in a city like this? Surely just about everyone heard those news reports from those being attacked by monsters or numerous people going missing. Maybe this guy was new in town, or didn't believe, or didn't care. But as far as Gremlin was concerned, that just made this guy clearly an idiot, and the Mauvian didn't pity him even a little for what Diesel was about to do-
It was just an extra handful of seconds before the jogger was in Diesel's line-of-sight, and it would just be a few more before the guy was physically in range of Diesel's draining abilities.
If Diesel was being rational and reasonable, the best thing to do would be to let the stranger go on his way, do stealth and follow from a few feet behind, draining slowly and letting him tire out and stop on his own. Maybe Diesel wouldn't take so much that he'd pass out on the street, and would instead be able to return from wherever he came.
But Diesel wasn't reasonable or rational, and that sounded boring and time consuming.
He'd literally just been grousing about how the night was slow going, and he wasn't much in the mood to make it slower. Besides, even if he let the jogger get a good look at him, and was really obviously doing something wrong, he'd never be able to identify him, thanks to the glamor. Diesel decided he was perfectly in the right on this, and who cared if it was a sloppy steal, anyway? He was sure Metallia just wanted energy and didn't care how it came about.
So as soon as the guy was in grabbing range, Diesel lashed out to shove him off balance. He wasn't too worried about jogger-guy being able to get away from him, but it wasn't like Diesel could ever be sure what anyone else was carrying around as a means of self-defense.

Eli was almost done with his jog, having been about three blocks away from the penthouse he stayed in with Lily. He had his earbuds on, listening to the new Separate Ways remix from the fourth season of stranger things on repeat, when he was suddenly pushed forward. If he was clumsier [or if he had been younger] he would've fallen over. He barely managed to keep his footing, stumbling slightly. "The ********?!" He paused his song using his watch, turning around to see who his assailant was. If they had come to mug him well...He was pretty good with his legs, soccer player and all that. The sight before him threw him off. Just what the ******** was he looking at? "If youre looking for money I hate to disappoint." He sneered, "Whatever the ******** you are." He narrowed his eyes, fight or flight being activated. There was no way he was going to run home, that would endanger Lily and Colin, something he was NOT about to risk.

Diesel didn't ever take to the streets with the express intention of hurting someone. He didn't shy from a fight, but the enjoyment of that came less from doing actual damage or following the Negaverse's will, and more from getting to show off his badass senshi magic and the thrill of just being powered up. He loved being special, loved the magic, loved the adrenaline. The consequences to anyone else were almost always an afterthought. If they wanted a go at him and weren't prepared to be damaged, that was kind of on them.
A sharp intake of breath caused a nearly choking sound from him as the dude stood his ground and spat obscenities at him. Which Diesel may have been understanding of if he'd tried to light the guy on fire, or something. ...Definitely not off the table, yet, with that level of beligerance.
"Dude, are you ******** blind?" He snapped back, almost excited to get riled up off some rando's bad attitude. Guy was about to learn. "I'm, like, a pretty attractive guy. Whaddya mean 'whatever the ******** I am?' Don't be rude. Jackass. And to be honest, I'm already getting what I'm 'looking for' off of you," he retorted, flippantly waving a hand to showcase the little tendrils of purply wisp flowing freely out of the jogger. "So, like, between you and me, I'd say you're better off shutting your mouth and just letting me have it. I don't mean to brag-" He definitely meant to brag. "But there's kind of nothing you can do about it? So unless you're trying to start a fight you can't win, just hang tight and shut up. You'll probably start to feel a liiittle tired... But you can go home afterward."
Gremlin prowled the overhanging ledge of the building just behind the pair of humans, eyeing them through impossibly huge, unblinking icy eyes. Diesel let himself get worked up all the time. There was almost nothing exciting about that.
...There wasn't much exciting about someone being mad at him for it, either, because humans were idiots, who didn't realize a danger when it was right in front of their faces.
But there was something interesting. A little twinge of fluctuating magic that Gremlin could just- almost get a handle on. Like an aura trying to be present, but not quite managing it. He eyed the man, the jogger. He definitely wasn't a teenager: kind of old for a senshi awakening. ...But if nothing else, Gremlin was patient. He would wait and see if it became more apparent with proper antagonization from Diesel.

Okay so rather than back down like he should have, Eli was pissed. Just who did this kid think he was? He was starting to feel a bit tired, but he tried to fight through it. He wasn't about to lie down and let this kid take whatever was coming from his body! He started to back up, wobbling on unsure feet. He eyed the purply wisp and tried to swipe at it as if he could stop the connection. This was not normal and he was not here for it. "T-To be honest....You little s**t. I dont see anything attractive about a gotdamned punk with unicorn barf hair..." He chuckled, "You think I'm blind...Look in the mirror first before you go talking your s**t." A fight he cant win? Well, didn't mean he wasn't about to try. He felt something then, didn't know what it was, but it was.... there. Eli staggered forward, trying his damnedest not to go down, falling onto his hands and knees. The ******** was he pulling from him?! His soul?! He tried to get back up, to get close enough to at least maybe land something on him, but ******** was he tired. His arms started to shake even as he started moving forward, but before he could swing, he was down for the count. His eyes gave his unknown assailant one last glare and a weak flipping of his middle finger, vision going dark.

Oh, yeah, he definitely felt real intimidated by the guy staggering around and dropping to the ground. Dude had successfully dispersed a bunch of Diesel's collected energy by smacking his hands around, forcing the corrupt to have to refocus on gathering it back up before it fluttered off and out of existence. His brows pinched, a grimace appearing on his lips. What a goddamned huge pain, and for what? Everyone in this day and age had to be belligerent about everything.
"My guy, you got a big mouth and no game," Diesel tutted, crouching down to grab the other man's hand that was flicking him the bird to better inspect the tattoo he could see along his wrist. He snorted softly at the mushroom. "Yikes, a nerd with no game. Maybe not that surprising."
"I wanted this to go smoother, y'know? It's a real hassle when someone passes out on you. You have to like, hide the body so no one comes around and gropes you or whatever- or causes a scene cause some weirdo is passed out on the road. It's not a good look, get it? Hey. Wake up." Diesel smacked at the guy's cheek. "And, like, I'm not trying to leave you dead, or anything. You're being so dramatic."
Gremlin dropped from the ledge to land heavily on Diesel's shoulder, claws sinking into the leathery fabric at his collar as he stared the floored man down. "It's a senshi," he hissed, scraggly whiskers tickling his boy's cheek.
The comment only earned a short snort of laughter from Diesel. "Ha, no way. Guy's too old. And he's also, like, kind of a loser?" He clucked his tongue. "Feels like you're probably lying so that I call someone down here and then get in trouble for wasting a Sovereign's time." Definitely not something he'd put past Gremlin. He could practically hear the Mauvian's nasally laughter at the opportunity to get Diesel reprimanded.
"Believe what you want," Gremlin retorted with a shrug. "Leave him out here to die for all it matters to me; I'm just telling you how it is."
"Well, I wasn't planning on leaving him anywhere, regardless..."
Gremlin's tail flicked against his cheek in dismissal, and the Mauvian hopped down to the concrete, padding up to the older guy to give jab an experimental claw at his arm. "I'm sure, though. Make of it what you want. Don't affect me, either way."
If it was a ruse (and Diesel wasn't convinced that it wasn't), Gremlin's nonchalance seemed a little out of place. He might have expected the Mauvian to be a little more goading if he was propagating a lie, and he probably really didn't care for actually awakening another senshi, but may feel compelled to mention it because it was kind of the whole reason he existed. Despite still being a little wary, Diesel sent out a message to the only General King he'd ever actually crossed paths with, considering, y'know, Axinite had been there for his awakening too...
Quote: Yo, hey, found this maybe-senshi civilian while out draining tonight. Cat with me says the guy's got the stuff. Can we borrow you for a second? Kinda seems like there's not gonna be a fight about it, so that's good, I guess?

Axinite wasn’t one to keep anyone waiting for long. The fact that he almost always seemed to be powered up, or in the office, or otherwise easily reachable was a testament to his loyalty and dedication to the Negaverse, and tonight was no different. He read the coordinates from the message and teleported there in under a minute. Axinite was as put together as always, and surveyed the small group as soon as he arrived. “Gremlin,” he greeted. “Diesel. It’s good to see you.” He turned to the only one he didn’t know, the would-be-senshi, and he smiled at him, too. Even if he wasn’t in any state for introductions. “I suppose there isn’t much of a reason to talk him through anything if he’s napping. You didn’t hurt him too badly, did you? I need access to his starseed, would you mind holding him for a moment for me?”

Axinite had barely even been there for ten seconds when Diesel caught a particular prickle of unease skate down his spine. Gremlin bristled next to him, all gangly spine and yellowed teeth and claws scraping at cement, and Diesel knew- knew- that nothing pleasant was about to come out of the Mauvian. Probably something like, 'Keep my name out of your filthy human mouth,' or 'Who are you to speak to me to worthless two-legger.' Y'know, something as equally irrelevant along those lines.
To Axinite.
Diesel swept his foot out to nudge Gremlin back, not so dissimilar to what someone might do to dissuade an actual cat from proceeding into territory they shouldn't. It wasn't rough, wasn't mean; it was just enough to be a distraction. And Gremlin spat venom and hooked his claws into the tall leather of Diesel's boots for his efforts, while the senshi just plastered on an unusually strained grin.
But with that crisis duly averted, he could turn back to the alleged 'new senshi' slumped on the ground with them. Diesel still doubted this guy even could be awakened, but-??? Someone else would figure it out now. "Oh, I barely even did anything to him," Diesel retorted with a flippant little roll of his eyes and a dismissive flick of fingers. "I only drained him a little, and he decided to be all rude about it for literally no reason. I'm fine to leave him, but the Mauvian says he's a senshi, so..." A shrug, and then Diesel crouched on the ground next to the guy, to hold him as Axinite bid.
"Stop acting like I'm lying," Gremlin seethed. "If you don't want him, don't take him."

Axinite watched Gremlin with a quiet curiosity but very little emotion reflected on his face. He understood that whatever Diesel was communicating with Gremlin was not meant for him. Although, he appreciated Diesel’s sacrifice. Thank goodness he had good boots. “I believe you,” Axinite said, with no shortage of patience. “If he isn’t hurt than I have less to worry about. I would be more careful if he had injuries to mind.” He’d have been careful anyway, but as long as the man was unconscious he might be able to spare him the worst of it. Axinite poised himself before him and with little fanfare, he slid his hand into his chest. The starseed was easy enough to locate, and he gripped it tenderly. When the man didn’t stir, he began to push the Chaos into his starseed. He was unsurprised to find that he was a Senshi, and very shortly after his hand went into his chest, he extracted it, too. “Thank you,” he said to the two of them. “I can make accommodations for him, unless you have something in mind?” Of course, the attending officer should have first claim of any newcomers they helped to bring in. Axinite could help them all adjust to any changes.

Viva Viola Villon, Diesel, and Gremlin exiting to here! After a rather unsatisfying bout with Diesel's boot, Gremlin's huge blue eyes were completely locked on where Axinite's fingers disappeared into the man's chest. He sat crouched, completely still, just waiting- waiting for the proclamation that yes, Gremlin was right, and it had been wrong of Diesel to doubt him. And uncalled for. And maybe he should lose a finger for that attitude toward a Mauvian.
But no. Obviously that had been a foolish thought as the General King just asked if they were going to do anything with this worthless newbie- Where was all his praise for finding this loser? A disconcerted rumble that may have been the beginnings of a growl started in the back of his throat.
Diesel was not incredibly concerned about a second outburst so close on the heels of the first. Such things took energy; Gremlin would probably stick to mutters and grumbles for the time being.
So he could almost fully divert his focus to what Axinite was doing. It wasn't the first time he'd seen a Senshi take on Chaos. That had been with Pan, and had also been significantly less quiet. ...And she hadn't exactly been a nobody at that point, either. "So... that's it, then, huh?" He asked as Axinite pulled back. Like, yeah, he guessed the guy didn't look or feel like a nobody, anymore, but he was still unconscious... Seemed strange to just- have the whole process over and done with while he was knocked out.
His gaze swiveled up from the new Senshi and back to Axinite. "Uh-" Well, he hadn't exactly had anything planned because he hadn't exactly expected to just find an unawakened Senshi out on the street.
But after just a moment of thought, maybe it seemed like a better idea to take care of this one himself, rather than expect Axinite to add something else to his surely insurmountable list of tasks. Even if Diesel wasn't sure what exactly he should be providing, he thought he had an idea of someone who'd know better. "Yyyyeah," he decided at length. "I think we can handle it, no problem." (Or maybe 'yes problem' because this dude hadn't exactly been friendly upon first meeting, but Diesel wasn't thinking about that!) "Thanks for the help, Boss. We can handle it from here."
"We-" Gremlin sneered softly as Diesel set a hand on the new Senshi's shoulder and whisked them to Negaspace.
