The winds of his wonder were ever present. They rose across the plains like they had since the first day he had come here. Yuki had called them cosmic winds and had said they had been quiet until Erytheia had awoken. But now there was something strange in the wind. Erytheia could see it in the corner of his vision. But by then it was gone. There was still the dead zone he had found earlier, the place where the flowers had died and crumbled to ash. Part of him still feared it was connected to the tree somehow. Connected to that Chaos Seed. Yet, he still felt no aura from it. That is why he had called Ida. The last time they had met she had been holding supplies for her garden. She had brought him to her world, where the plants grew plenty. Surely, she would know something about why the starseed blooms had perished. ✪

She'd been a little bit surprised to get a call from Erytheia, when so few people reached out to her these days. She hadn't really known what to expect. Even though meeting him and taking him to her world had been a pleasant thing, people she shows about Ida didn't really call her back asking for another go, or even just to hang out...
But no, he had something he wanted to ask her about, something he wanted her advice on, and that had mellowed some of her surprise. Being sought out for her experience was far more normal and it let her settle into a sort of 'professional' approach as she headed out to meet the cosmos knight, jumping rooftops at a quick but easy pace.
When she dropped down nearby, Ida raised an arm to wave, calling out a greeting.
"Hey there! I got your message. I hope you weren't waiting too long." She said as she approached, brushing hair out of her face and back into her hood.

“Not at all!” He waved at Ida. He was so glad she could make it. There was something about her presence that made him feel more at ease. “I’m sorry that I didn’t explain more in my message. It’s just that…” The knight looked worried again. It was a face he made just as much as his cheerful one. The juxtaposition could be jarring until you got to know him and realized it happened all the time. “… well, it’s rather hard to explain. I’ve never seen anything like it before on a wonder. Remember when I said my wonder had been barren at the beginning, the first time I ever saw it? Well, this is worse. So much worse.”✪

Ida frowned as she listened, feeling a little knot of nerves form in her stomach.
"I remember." She said with a nod. "But what's worse? Did something happen?"
It wasn't, sadly, unusual for threats to pop up on senshi homeworlds. With their senshi so far away on Earth, there was no one to keep watch for threats. She'd seen a number of them, even helped to set them right, on other worlds and wonders. Was this another instance? And, why had he called her?
"Is there something you think I can do to help? I will if I can." Ida said with another nod. "If we need help, I know other senshi and knights I can call as well."

“Something certainly did happen. But, unlike last time, I wasn’t there to see it. I just found the aftermath… a strange area of dead flowers.”He held out his hand so that they could make the jump to his wonder. “I was hoping you could help because you are good with plants.”✪

Ida hesitated when he mentioned the flowers, before placing her hand into his. She was glad her fingers didn't shake when she closed them around his.
That sounded all too familiar. Was this another one? Dread crawled in her stomach and she ran her tongue over her lips, her mind full of questions.
"I will do my best, I promise. I think you better show me what you found." She said, steadying herself for the teleport across space to this strange, new place.
Cosmos wonders weren't on any one planet... and she already knew Erytheia was a wild place. If she hadn't been so worried, she would have been excited.

Erytheia had tried to teleport them to a place where the flowers were thick, their scent strong and the winds fair. And, at first, he had thought that, in his haste, he had missed the point he wished to land. Erytheia, being but an island floating freely in space, did move much more than a wonder on a planet or orbiting a star. But he was not mistaken. He was exactly where he had planned to be. It was not the island that had moved. It was the destruction that had. “It has spread.” He sad grimly as his sandals landed on a flower that instantly crumbled to ash beneath his step. The land he stood on was starkly different than the land mere feet from where they now stood. There was a clear line between here and there, then and now. It was as if the land was perfectly demarcated between what was right and what was not so. They were in a field of what appeared to be lilies, exact half were pure white and fill with morning dew and the other half were black as night and covered in ash. ✪

The teleportion felt familiar, like any other time she'd done it to travel to her own world or any of the few she had visited in the past. That disorientation, and sense of movement... and then blurring of her vision cleared to show some place new.
And the devastation of it.
Ida's stomach knotted up as her eyes swept from one patch of healthy, beautiful greener to... the charred remains of what had once been the same. The ground crunched coarsely beneath her feet when she stepped away from Erytheia, a few skeletal plants turning to ash as she stepped past them, smudging grey over her white boots.
"Has it always been like this? I mean, did you find it this way?" She said as she crouched down and touched a leaf, rubbing her fingers together to smear ash over her fingertips.

“No. It hasn’t always been this way.”Erytheia walked grimly around the parameter, measured the expansion of the destruction. “At first, as I told you before, this place was barren. The only thing that even looked like it was once alive was the old tree at the center of this island. But, when I became a knight, the starseed blooms appeared and a small magenta butterfly came back.”He sighed. “The butterflies used to be attracted to these fields, but I hadn’t seen them here — or anywhere — since this dark patch appeared.”✪

Ida shook her head slowly as she dropped her hands away, bracing her forearms on her knees.
"This looks like the others I have seen. Very much so, actually. All these dead spots are identical, so we can assume they are caused by the same thing. What that is... I'm not sure yet." She said with a soft sigh.
Reaching down this time, Ida dug her fingers into the soil, digging up some of it and turning it over to see if there was anything to find there. No sign of mold, really, but no bugs, no worms... only dry, brittle roots that fell apart as she disturbed them.
"We've tried different mold killers and things to see if it would help, but so far, nothing has worked. Have you tried anything on it? Or other ways to bring it back?" Ida asked as she looked up.

“You found this on other worlds?” His words were somber, but there was a terror in his eyes. So, it had spread farther than just Erytheia? Maybe it wasn’t even from his wonder as he originally thought. But then… how did it get here? And how was it spreading from world to world? Then he took his bow and shot an arrow into the ground. It pulsed magic into the ground in golden waves. But nothing happened. “It doesn’t respond to my healing magic no matter how much I channel into it.”✪

Ida turned to look up at Erytheia, and when he drew his bow, she hastily moved away from the dead spot to give him room. She watched as he shot an arrow into it with a curious expression, wondering what he intended with it. They'd never discussed his magic... but his explanation made her expression clear and she nodded, blowing air out slowly.
"I've heard other people have tried more conventional means... fertilizer, mold and disease killer, anything you can think of, and none of that worked. I guess I'm not surprised that magic doesn't work either. This... disease has spread across multiple worlds now, without any sort of cross over contamination. There has to be more to it than we think..." She said. Arms wrapped around her chest, she contemplated the dead spot with a small frown. "Its been frustrating."
"Have you found other spots on your wonder, or just this one?"

“So, nothing you’ve tried works.”Erytheia sighed. He had hoped that if anyone had figured it out, it would be Ida. “This is the only place I have found it on my wonder. Have others found more of it on their worlds than this?”✪

Ida shook her head slowly, her shoulders rising and falling in a shrug.
"So far? No. But it seems weird to me for it to just be... one spot in each of these places. Why just one? A disease wouldn't confine itself just to one spot unless that was specifically the point of transmission. But there hasn't been anything on any of these worlds to suggest that... I just don't know, and I'm not finding the answers I want to find." She said as she blew air out through her nose in frustration.
"You probably already plan to, but... I think you should keep an eye on it, and look for other things on your wonder that are out of place. Have you found anything else that's different than when you first saw it?"

“I’ve been coming every week to check on it.”And it’s only gotten worse. But he left that part unsaid. There was one more thing he needed to share just in case it could be connected. “There was an incident on my wonder not too long ago. There had been a Chaos Seed found here. At first, I thought this was related in some way. But it doesn’t seem to be. This spot doesn’t have the save aura that I felt then.”✪
