Not long after this role-play.Yuri had not remembered calling for an ambulance. He had not remembered falling to the ground. He certainly hadn’t remembered passing out. Yet the man that rolled him into the emergency room on a stretcher had told him those things had happened and he was inclined to believe him. With all that had happened lately, he would believe anything. What was certain is that the wound in his chest had reopened. Blood stained his clothes which had already been ripped open. The bandages he had applied himself not long ago had been taken off, but some of it still clung to his waist, a desperate effort when his magic ran out before he could heal the wound fully. In all, the wound went from his shoulder on his left side all the way down to his hip. He had told the EMT that he had been struck by lightning. And he had, in a way, if a bolt of pure energy from a Chaos Seed counted as such. He hoped you couldn’t tell that he was hit from the front, a near miss on his heart. Or that the wounds had once closed and reopened. Or that there had been rain, but no reports of thunderstorms that day. ✪

The wailing of the siren and the lights flashing blue and red off the walls that announced the arrival. Having someone rushed into the ER on a stretcher was certainly not an oddity at the hospital, but it drew Orah's attention as it always did. She was, as ever, quick to respond, questions already rushing through her mind as she got a look at the person they had brought in.
A young man, blonde, and with a red stain spreading over the clothing over his chest. She couldn't help wondering if this was a simple, mundane accent or if it was more than that... but there was precious little time to get the answers she craved.
"Can you tell me what your name is?" She asked as she bent over the man, half running beside his stretcher as they wheeled him into the hospital. The warm beige walls rushed passed them as she tried to catch his attention and see how coherent he was. Find out who he was, find out what had happened, if possible. Any information she could gather now would help the doctors later.
The real questions she wanted to ask would have to stay behind her teeth for now, and wait to see if this young man pulled through... and even then, might never get a real answer.

It was a long while later before Yuri would find himself installed in his own hospital bed, clean and bandaged, with an IV of liquids and cocktail of medicines being pumped into him to dull the pain and fight off infection. This particular room was quiet, with only him as the occupant in one of the two beds at the current moment. The walls here were the same warm beige, the floor pale and flecked, a band of deep green running around the room about half way up the walls. A steady beep came from the machine that monitored his heart beat, the only sound other than his breathing in the still room.
Down the hall at the nurses' desk, Orah worked through some paperwork, only half her mind on it, the half on the new patient. She'd need to check on him soon, as part of her rounds, and again the questions were bubbling up inside of her again.

‘Can you tell me what your name is?’Such a simple question, yet so hard to answer. He knew what his name was. It was ‘Yuri’. It meant ‘lily’. It was Japanese. He was given it by someone. But it wasn’t the name he was born with. What had that name been? He found he no longer remembered. “Yuri.” He stumbled upon the words, his amber eyes struggling to focus on the nurse. “Thank you.”He closed his eyes again before getting her name. —*— Yuri did not know how long it had been since he was brought here, but he knew now that he was safe. The steady beeping of the heart beat monitor and the gently dripping of the lines threatened to lull him back into slumber. His breathing was still a bit strained, each breath a reminder of the pain in his chest. Someone had dressed the wound. It was a much better job than he had done at home when his magic had failed to close the wound on its own. ✪

Orah opened the door to the room with a quiet knock, slipping inside with the hope that if the young man were still asleep, she wouldn't disturb him. He'd been through a lot and they hadn't been able to call any family or friends since they didn't know who he was yet, so there was no one to be there when he woke up. He deserved undisturbed time and a chance to rest peacefully.
She pushed aside the curtain to peer around it, and was pleasantly surprised to see him awake, if barely.
"Hi there." She said with a warm smile, reaching to take the clipboard from the end of his bed. "I'm Orah. I'm a nurse. You're at DC Memorial Hospital. They told me you called for an ambulance and they found you passed out. Do remember what your full name is?"
Stepping closer to the bed, keeping her movements smooth and non-threatening, she glanced over the readings from the machines and made notes on them, filing away the information for later. He seemed better... if still gravely injured. He was at least out of the danger zone, and likely to recover. With scaring though, unfortunately. She sympathized with that... the tiny sliver scars on her hands were only the visible ones of the many she had, herself.

“Yuri.” He thought again on his name. He had trouble remembering again. Hadn’t his memory been strange since he had gotten his injury? It didn’t matter. He wouldn’t want anyone he knew to know about this anyway. How would he explain it? “Yuri Hoshino.” He gave a false last name. “How long have I been here? I remember passing out.”✪

She nodded as she pulled a pen out of her shirt pocket and wrote his name down on the board. She would have to research it and see if she could find any family to notify.
"Mmm.. A little over a day." She said as she lowered the clipboard to look over at him. "When the ambulance brought you in, we rushed you into surgery and took care of your injury. You've been sleeping, helped by pain medication, since then. That's not unusual, and is actually good for helping healing." She said. "Do you remember what happened to you? How you got injured?"

What had happened to him? If only he could explain. But she wouldn’t believe him even if he could tell the whole story of how the small Chaos Seed had lay dormant on his wonder until life returned and than tried to corrupt the whole thing. So, he’d have to lie despite not being any good at it in the least. “I believe I was struck by lightning in a storm.” He said as he gauged how believable it was. “At least, the last thing I remember is that it was raining.”✪

Orah blinked as she looked up from her board at the young man in the bed, torn between surprise and incredulity. Of course she wasn't going to call him a liar... he was probably just confused over what had happened. The mind often clouded memories of trauma to protect itself, and if it had been raining, then it wasn't that big of a jump to find yourself critically injured and think you'd been struck by lighting.
She shook her head gently as she reached out to touch his arm.
"It wasn't lightning, I'm afraid. That sort of thing leaves burns and scars that look like spreading roots. This was something else, but we're not quite sure what. Don't worry about thinking about it too hard. If you remember anything, just let me know." She said when she pulled her hand back. "Do you have the strength to go over some information about yourself? Don't push yourself... we can always let you rest and go over it later, but it would be helpful to know about your health history, and any allergies you might have."

It seemed his explanation of lightening wasn’t very believable. He hardly could have hoped it would be. After all, he didn’t even believe himself. Still, Orah’s expression told him she didn’t believe that for a second, but also that she’d thought him confused at most and not exactly a liar. “Yes.” He said cautiously. He was still gauging if the nurse was a threat to keeping the truth hidden, yet she seemed kind and willing to listen. “What would you like to know?”

When he agreed, she smiled warmly and pulled her clipboard up, taking out the pen for it.
"Alright... Lets start with allergies. Are you allergic to anything? Foods, seasonal, things like Latex?" She asked as she prepared to take notes. She ran him through as complete of a history as she could manage with his current energy level. Health conditions, any history of things in his family, reactions to any medications he'd taken in the past... she carefully noted all of it as they went.
It was when he showed signs of tiredness that she left off, content with what she had so far.
"You should get some rest, I think." She said as she put away the pen and flipped the pages back over the clipboard. "You are still recovering, and I don't want you to over do it. Do you have any questions for me? And, do you feel hungry enough to eat something before you sleep?"

“Just a hereditary heart condition from my biological father’s side. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. But it’s fine. I just shouldn’t exert myself too much. I’m also allergic to sage.” Though he doubted he was going to be around any sage plants here. He was quite tired now and not very hungry, but he perked up when she asked if he had any other questions. “How long do you think I will need to be here?”

Orah smiled gently as she put away the paperwork she'd filled out.
"A day or two, at least. To make sure you're well enough to be released. As long as you seem to be recovering well, it shouldn't be too long. The important thing for you to do right now, is to rest. The more you do, the faster your body will be able to recover." She said. Pointing, she indicated the call button where he could reach it from the bed.
"If you need anything, just hit that button and one of the nurses on shift will come and help. I'll let them know you woke up and then went back to sleep, and we'll get some food ready for when you wake up again. Food will help you replace what you lost and speed up recovery too. I was also good to meet you, Yuri. I'll do my best to get you up and back on your feet as quickly as possible." Orah said with a warm, easy smile.
