Information about the Herd

The six brothers were born into a family that, for many generations, were miners. The family lived in a network of caves and each day they worked at further extending their home underground and mining for rare gems. When the family compiled enough rare gems, they would climb above ground and celebrate. They would sing their praises, converse with one other, and eat together long into the night. After their celebrations they would trade for other, valuable goods that allowed the family to continue their line of work. The family continued to prosper. One day, however, their luck ran out. Overtime, the family became overconfident and greedy, mining too much and extending their caves too far into the ground. Their extensive network became unstable and collapsed. The family escaped, but were now without a home.

The family always stated how close they were, how they would support each other through anything. However, the devastation led to arguments between family members who started to blame each other for the loss of their home. These conflicts continued and the family broke off into many directions, unable to forgive each other. The brothers, having lost their parents prior to the loss of their home, chose to stay together. At a lost as to what to do, without the guidance of their elders, they could only think of finding a new home. Perhaps, with this new home they could bring their family back together again. In their search they stumbled across a small set of underground caves. Now the question is, how do they start anew without falling into despair ever again?

Note: On my custom form I mentioned that their element would be Earth. There are no specific naming conventions.

Name of Soquili: Albrecht
Name Meaning and Origin: German - noble, bright
Temper (Optional): Diligent
Personality: The fourth son. Albrecht is diligent and meticulous with his work. He dislikes laziness; however, he isn't known to chastise others. Rather he will pick up the slack instead and take on more work and responsibilities. He sometimes needs reminders to take a break from his many tasks. Albrecht is polite to those he meets though he comes across as stiff and unapproachable at times due to his shyness. He is someone known to care for small animals that stumble into or take shelter in the caves. Albrecht wishes to continue what their family started, out of respect for their parents and ancestors.

Name of Soquili: Yaxha
Name Meaning and Origin: Spanish - green water
Temper (Optional): Whimsical
Personality: The second youngest of the brothers. He took the loss of their parents and the split of their family rather hard, but Yaxha tries to pretend everything is fine by smiling often and cracking jokes. He wants everyone to be happy. Yaxha loves his family fiercely, he tries his best to support his brothers; however, he has trouble focusing for too long on the same task.

Contest Details

This giveaway involves both a personality contest and a raffle component. Two of the herd helper will first be given away based on your name/personality entry. The other two herd helper soquili will be given away via raffle. In order to receive a ticket for the raffle, you must fill out the form completely with a name and personality. Temper is optional.

Name of Soquili: Mererani
Name Meaning and Origin: Named for the Mererani Hills in Tanzania, the only area where tanzanite (a blue-violet gemstone) is mined.
Temper (Optional):Pleochroic
Personality: His temper refers to an optical phenomenon where a gemstone is a different color depending on the angle of light. As the firstborn, he has the weight of his family's wellbeing on his shoulders. They are consistently strong shoulders that his brothers can rely on. He tries to take on too much and predictably begins to buckle under the pressure. When things become too intense, to throws his responsibility aside and literally heads for the hills, seeking to run, to climb, to be wild and free. He may be gone for a few days, but he will come home and shoulder his burden with new vigor. And just what happened during those two or three days? Well who can say. Perhaps his adventures are worth telling.

Name of Soquili: Topapwene
Name Meaning and Origin:Egyptian, means "land of the Topaz," referring to Sri Lanka, who supplied the Ancient Egyptians with topaz stones. Topaz is best known for its yellowish or blue color, and the element of fire. It is also known for being super hard, as well as heavy.
Temper (Optional): Steadfast
Personality: This brother is strong and stubborn, with a slow-burning temper. Get him truly angry and expect hell to pay because that temper is fiery. Boulders will fly. He likes carrying the weight of stones on his back or in a cart. That weight represents all the efforts he and his brothers have put into their mining. He is proud of all they have done, even though it all came crashing down around them. He tries not to think of the past, staying in the here-and-now, and looking to the future.

Name of Soquili: Carnelian
Name Meaning and Origin: This is a brownish-red semiprecious stone used in family seals (using hot wax) and has been used since ancient times in jewelry.
Temper (Optional): Resolute
Personality: The baby of the family, he certainly is not coddled or spoiled. He works just as hard as his brothers, if not harder than them for... reasons... He has bad lungs. He tries to downplay his illness and shrug it off outwardly with a show of bravado. He does not want to worry his brothers. He wants them to focus on their passion: the mines and gemstones. Someday, he knows, the illness may kill him, but so might a cave-in. So he doesn't let it bother him. Even so, he is lighter than his brothers and often has a cough that never seems to get any better.

Aqua brother

Name of Soquili: Chrysocolla
Name Meaning and Origin: An aqua-colored stone, from Ancient Greek chrysos, "gold" and kolla, "glue," because it was used in ancient times as solder for gold pieces.
Temper (Optional): Peacemaker
Personality: This brother is a peacemaker for the family. His brothers might even argue that he is the glue that keeps his family together. He gets between two arguing brothers with a conciliatory manner and works to present all sides of the issue. He haggles proficiently in trade of their gems for other materials and goods. He uses his understanding of people to get a favorable result. One might even call him a manipulator, but he only uses this knowledge for the good of his family. He means well, but that does not mean he would not become mislead by the right (or is it wrong?) person.

Name Meaning and Origin: Russian cognate of Greek Aniketos, meaning “unconquered”; Russian, Greek meaning “defending men”

Personality:
For purple boy- Being the oldest of the brothers, Nikita has always been the one in charge. The one everyone looked up to in times of trouble and times of peace. He is the one that has all the advice and answers. No matter the circumstance, he does what needs to be done in order to make his family happy, to keep them safe. Nikita has always borne the brunt of things, putting himself as a buffer between anything bad and his brothers so that they might be happy. He sees his purpose as defender and guardian. Someone who is meant to keep the bad at bay while his loved ones prosper. For him, their happiness is his happiness, and he will do anything to keep that alive, even if it means hiding his pain so that they may all smile.

For the others- Alexei fancies himself a fighter instead of a digger. He enjoys the idea of getting into a big fight and coming out the winner, using his practice with his mining tools as am advantage. He can often be seen showing off his skills by twirling his tools about and doing fancy tricks. The only problem is that’s about the extent of his skills. Alexei was not born to be a fighter. A bit of a klutz, he tends to crack more rocks than heads, even when he isn’t trying. Add to that the fact he is the smallest of his brothers and…well…it can be a bit of a sore spot at times. He works hard to try to overcome it, but it is a constant thorn in his side nonetheless.

Name of Soquili: Lumine
Name Meaning and Origin: Short form of luminescence. A nod to their glowing crystal backs and tails.
Temper (Optional): Nostalgic
Personality: Lumine can be a little quiet since the fallout with their previous herd, and the loss of their parents. In the new cave, he discovered bioluminescent mushrooms. He has taken a liking to using their glowy mush to paint on the walls. In tribute, he paints a giant mural to depict the timeline of their herd. Previous events and those lost to them, will never be forgotten. And his art helps to heal his own wounds. Lumine might shed a tear when talking about his cave drawings, but his heart glows bright while telling their stories. If you ask him to tell a story about his drawings, he becomes a whole other pony as he animates and enthusiastically tells the stories. When foals come into their family, he will be delighted to regale the tales of their origins. Always taking care when telling the parts that are hard, and treating them with respect.

Extra personalities, but not to be used for the judged portion. Willing to fill whatever role the herd needs! So had a few other options.

Name of Soquili: Steinarr
Name Meaning and Origin:From Old Norse, derived from the elements steinn "stone" and arr "warrior".
Temper (Optional): Dedicated
Personality: As the third son, Steinarr has always felt a bit out of place, not the eldest and meant for responsibility but not the youngest either the ones who receive all the babying. While he blamed neither is siblings nor his parents this did cause a lot of acting out from Steinarr in his older foal / young adult years, He would often run off and get himself into trouble which meant his parents or another family member to have to rescue him. This gave Steinarr deep feelings of being a constant mess up, which caused him to run away for a number of years. During his time off on his own, Steinarr learned of his parents death for which he also blamed himself believing from rumors they had died trying to find him. When the family broke up Steinarr felt a deep need to return home and try to help his siblings even though he believed as as constant mistake maker he would only be in the way for the most part. For a long time after returning home, he kept his feelings to himself till one day on a fight with his brothers he poured his heart out to them. In doing so Steinarr while still often racked with guilt has found some measure of relief and feeling of belonging again and has dedicated himself to helping their herd once again thrive as they did before.
