A few days after this role-play.Tama found himself in front of a strange door with a large black star on it. He wasn’t sure he was in the right place. But he so desperately wanted to nap. After his encounters and lessons of the day, the Mauvian knew better than to just settle down anywhere. The Dark Kingdom was a dangerous place if one did not know where they were going. Was this the place? How would he get in? Part of him could go no closer to the door, its star looming ominously. Did it know who he was? What he was — or had been? Would it reject him for it? Could it peer into his soul and know his secrets? Could it see that he had yet to fully reject the White Moon? ☆

Chaos Mauvian Headquarters was practically his own private oasis. Visitors were sparse: not completely nonexistent, but few and far between. No humans allowed. So maybe a little too quiet and lonely for many Guardians to enjoy. Probably because any Mauvian that could wanted accommodations actually on Earth, with their senshi or various other human friends; a place that could be made a home of.
Gremlin, too, spent a decent amount of time with a senshi, but it was a matter of convenience, rather than pleasure. He hated being stuck in a human abode, and his senshi had parents hanging around the house all the time, swatting at him to get off the counters or denying him actual food.
A chore of a place to be in for long periods of time.
Headquarters was fine, quiet. A decent place to nap, eat, or lazily watch videos from. With no projects of his own, it wasn't a place to get any work done, as was probably intended, but Gremlin wasn't bothering anyone by being here, so no reason to complain. And he'd take this room over being outside any day of the winter. It was way too cold for him to find peace anywhere else, so when he wanted to be alone, Headquarters was all he had. At least until all the humans ******** off for the day. His senshi's stupid parents would be going to sleep soon, which meant he could head back, accompany Cervantite for a quick patrol and then raid whatever was in the fridge. A good deal, really.
He stretched his paws out before him as he rose off one of the cushions and plodded over to the door. It shuttered open, and-
Gremin stilled in a half-step as he locked eyes with another Mauvian, sitting just outside the door. Not one he recognized, though that wasn't saying much. His heart gave a little jolt at the thought that the other Guardian had been sitting out here- waiting (because what else would another cat be outside the door for?) for him to leave so he wouldn't be in the way.
And he'd just been napping! Completely oblivious! "Were you trying to go in? No one else in inside, if you wanted to be alone."

Another guardian cat!The sense of relief as the peterbald walked out the black star door was clearly evident from Tama’s body language. His fur flattened. His nub of a tail finally relaxed. “Yes. I was trying to get in. But I was afraid the door would not recognize me.” He admitted as he looked at the fully black star on the other cat’s forehead. His own star had turned near black since he had turned, but it still showed a hint of violet, barely noticeable now. Still, part of him thought the door would see it and know what that hint of purple had meant. Know what he had been and reject him outright. “This is my first time here.” At first, he was glad that the place would be empty. He needed a nap and a place he could relax, a place he could process all that had happened… but also couldn’t deny the fact that the sight of another Mauvian soothed his soul more then any bit of self-reflection could. “I’m sorry. I’ve lost my manners. My name is Tama. What is yours?”☆

"Not recognize you?" Gremlin echoed. The sharpness typically in his voice had dulled considerably with another Mauvian next to him, but the question posed almost sounded like a demand. Why would the door to Chaos Mauvian Headquarters not recognize a Chaos Mauvian? Even Gremlin, crippled and ugly and valueless compared to his brethren had never been denied a place here.
Unless whoever had brought him in hadn't, like- explained. Filthy humans. Gremlin wouldn't put it past them. No one had even showed Tama the door, if this was his first time here! "The Sovereign who turned you from the White Moon," Because all Chaos Guardians should've been brought in by a General Sovereign, "Should've given you a card. Do you have a card? It looks like this." With a twist of a paw, he scraped open his subspace pocket and produced a black card hooked by his claws. "You get it activated by touching it to your star, and then the door will recognize it. But there's not really a need for it, if you just let the scanner scan your star. Did you do that?"
He seemed like a nice Mauvian, if a little lost. Maybe a little nervous? Though Gremlin couldn't understand why. Nothing terrible could get into Headquarters. No youma and barely any humans. It was completely safe! But his whiskers did crinkle a bit in distaste as the other asked for his name. "I'm called Gremlin."
Nothing about him was important, though, and what he'd been doing before hardly mattered, either. Going home? Not anymore! Tama seemed like he could use somebody to show him around, since all those filthy, terrible humans had neglected properly integrating him. "Do you wanna check it out now?" Gremlin asked, angling his head back toward the room to gesture Tama inside.

“My introduction here was a bit…” He looked for the words, his choices oscillating in his head from formal and polite to sarcastic and dead pan. “Let’s just say it was a bit traumatic.”Tama watched how the other cat crinkled his nose. Ah, the utter distaste he has. A fellow cat after my own heart.“I’m afraid any human explanation I got has already left my mind if it ever had a hold there to begin with.” He waved his paw as if dismissing whatever he had been told. “Like I said. It was traumatic.”He’d always thought Mauvians the more knowledgeable, Chaos or otherwise. “I’d love a tour. You don’t know how long it too me to find this place. I’d hardly want to miss anything.”☆

'Traumatic.' The word tumbled around in Gremlin's otherwise empty head as he stared through huge, icy blue eyes at the other Mauvian. Traumatic probably shouldn't be construed as 'strange,' considering where they were. The Negaverse took whatever it wanted, regardless of whether its participants were willing or not, so it should be expected that some Guardians had been forced over. They were a commodity, an invaluable resource for locating senshi... Gremlin should recognize it as an inevitable possibility.
But it still riled him to think some bat-brained sovereign had dared to mangle a Mauvian's starseed against his will...
His tail lashed furiously, but Gremlin's voice was uncharacteristically soft. "I'm sorry that's how it happened. It'll be better, probably, now that it's behind you. If you ever want to share, I'd happily listen to your story."
"For now-" He beckoned with a little jerk of his head as he turned back toward the door, now closed behind him. "There's not much to tour, but we should at least make sure you can get inside. I'll give you a preliminary gander around the castle, too, just so you can find this place without incident again. You can count on humans being always unhelpful! But I got you, don't worry."

“Humans can be quite unhelpful.” He scoffed with Gremlin. Yes. Humans were a mess sometimes. Even his human. His human. His human was not alive anymore. For a moment, he paused before the door. But he was not quite ready to talk about his human yet, even though Gremlin had offered. I’ll be better that it’s behind me. Tama repeated the words Gremlin had said in his mind as if maybe, somehow… he could bring himself to believe it. “So this door… you said I just need to let it scan my star?”☆

Gremlin wanted specifics. He wanted to know who had been so unhelpful. Who had mangled with a Mauvian's starseed. Who this Guardian had wanted to be, as opposed to what he was now.
But he was happy enough to let the topic drop, if that was what Tama wanted. This was hardly an interrogation, and the most important thing was just to be there if his comrade wanted someone to talk to, to discuss his place on this bizarre world, or help him find someone he could be comfortable with. The subject of blame on the humans should be secondary. Gremlin already knew to watch out for them almost indiscriminately. All he information of 'who' would do for him is to just rile his anger anytime he saw that human in particular.
Probably best to not.
Instead, he gave a little nod in confirmation as he trotted to the side to make way for Tama to step in front of the scanner. "Yes, that's right. Here, here. Come give it a try. If it doesn't work, then something is wrong, and we'll have to report it." Though maybe they'd be better served solving the problem themselves-
But he doubted that would be necessary. Even if Tama hadn't explicitly chosen to join the Negaverse, he was here now, star mostly darkened by Chaos, and Gremlin couldn't imagine he would have trouble acclimating.

Tama stood before the door with his exposed star and for a moment, nothing happened. Then a sparkle of light came from the door and it fell over his forehead star, inspecting. Then, without any fanfare, the door slid open. He practically sighed in release that the door did recognize him, didn’t reject him. “Well, I suppose that wasn’t so bad.” Tama said warily. In truth, he thought the technology quite genius. He needn’t a key card or registration; the thing just knew. “Please. Show me around. But first, how long have you been here?” He probed, hoping to not intrude too much, but letting his curiosity get the better of him. ☆

Gremlin stared openly, icy blue eyes fixed on the other Mauvian and his star. A part of him wanted to offer his reassurances because Tama still seemed so tense: 'There's nothing to worry about. All Negaverse Mauvians are welcome here.' But it would be obvious soon enough, and Tama would be more reassured by the door just opening than by anything Gremlin could say.
And it did. The door slid open before Gremlin even had to think that there might be a chance that it wouldn't (but of course it absolutely would because a Mauvian had every right to be here. This was as much a home as some of them had, and if there was even a shred, a shred of thought that it might refuse because of a Guardian's insecurities, he would pitch twelve kinds of fits. No Mauvian should be refused from their home- but he collected himself because the door had opened and everything was Fine).
He trotted ahead as much as he could with his bed leg, tail swaying in delight to have the company of one of his own.
"Come on, this way." He beckoned with a notch of his head as he made toward the work desks, something he figured most Mauvians would be excited for. I've understood what I am only for..." He took a second to pause and think, head canting slightly to the side as he tried to remember where he'd been and what he'd been doing when he suddenly realized he was not a cat. "For a year and a half, maybe? Not as long as some. But it was winter when I came to join the Negaverse. Last winter? Just a little more than a year, I suppose..."
"I like it here," he admitted with a shrug. "I hope you'll be able to as well, with time."

“I’ve been awake for...” He paused. He suddenly realized that he didn’t know how long he had known he was a Mauvian for. He knew it had been for a long time. He knew he had been in Japan for two years. He knew he had been in Destiny City before that. But the memory of his awakening was gone. Why would he have forgotten that? “It’s been a long time.”His face was a bit sad for a second, but then he saw the workspace and instantly forgot. “Oh, what is this? Oh! And that! And this, too.” He moved from place to place to place looking with wide, sparkling eyes at, well, everything. “Oh! But, specifically…” He held up a pen-like device in his paw. It was a communication tablet. “… this!”☆

Gremlin's ears twitched and lowered, betraying the discomfort he felt at Tama's admission. Gremlin was sure many Mauvians had come to the realization of what they were before he had. It seemed like it should be obvious to them: beautiful, intelligent, worthy. Clearly better than Earth deserved, so how could they possibly have come from such a place. It wasn't Tama's experience that made him uncomfortable.
It was that he had been awakened for a long time.
With the White Moon.
And now he was here, unwillingly.
Gremlin wished there was some way he could give more reassurance. It was better to be here! They didn't want a world crawling with a bunch of humans, and the Negaverse was decent at getting rid of them. Much better than a Mauvian would be alone. But Gremlin was aware this was not what most guardians wanted. That was why most guardians were with the White Moon. They did not want the world depleted of humans, as he did.
Regardless of what he hoped he could say, before he could think of anything appropriate, they were inside, and the other Mauvian was bounding between the work stations, expecting cubbies and computers and the teleporter pad and-
"The tablets?" Gremlin questioned, head canting. "Did they really provide you with absolutely nothing? No direction, no access card, no tablet pen? Just goes to show how worthless this lot is, really!" With a snort, he unzipped his subspace pocket and procured his own tablet pen, hooked at the end of a claw. "Look, it really is pretty neat," he offered, splitting the pen down the center so the holographic screen appeared between the two halves.
"This thing recognizes your face, too, so the only one who can access your tablet is you. You can send calls and messages to anyone registered- which should be pretty much everyone in the Negaverse, excluding most youma. It's got a camera with flash and a notes app. And most importantly, you can check out the Database from here." He drew in close to peer over at the pen Tama had selected. "You can probably register to this one, if you want. Doubt a Mauvian would leave their personal tablet behind, and there's a couple blank ones in here just for app tinkering."

Something suddenly dawned on him. He had never accessed subspace since he had been here in the Negaverse. He paused and motioned to Gremlin to wait. He focused on subspace, found he could access it just like before. And out popped some sushi. And a pen tablet. “Looks like I did get one. I thoroughly remember storing the sushi there. Though time has been a bit fuzzy.” He pushed some toward the other Mauvian, offering it. “Faustite gave me the pen. I intended to ignore the thing since it came from him. But now that I know it’s Mauvian-made, I’d love to learn to use it.”The sushi was… not as fresh as Tama had remembered. ☆

Gremlin's head canted, the tip of his spindly little tail twitching as he sat at Tama's side, expectantly awaiting whatever the other Mauvian had decided to do. When the subspace pocket unzipped, Gremlin thought maybe some old tech would be produced, like something Tama wanted integrated into the resources he had available now. An old senshi phone, or something.
...But it was sushi, and hardly fresh sushi, at that. "Nyeh?" Gremlin's ear flicked, and he looked a little taken aback by the slightly unsavory aroma. But it was pretty infrequent that he would pass up a meal, even one left to fester for who-knew-how-long. Given how often he'd rummaged through the dumpsters for any type of rations that might sustain him for just a little while longer, Gremlin was no stranger to foods that may be past their prime. It just seemed like maybe it should be a little embarrassing to go chomping on anything available in front of another Mauvian.
His body tipped forward, as if trying to will himself not to fall all over Tama's offer of food. But Gremlin kept it together with a tight little shake of his head.
They'd been talking about the pens.
"It's not very hard to use," Gremlin promised. "If you have one, maybe it even recognizes you already. You just snap it open for the holographic screen to appear, and you can navigate through the functions from there. Oh, our paws work for it too!" He added just in case that had been a concern. It seemed like most things were made with a human's needs and preferences in mind, but even the tablets were suitable for Mauvians. "Whatcha think? Is there anything you want to give a try?"

Tama looked at the sushi a bit and a twitch developed in his pink nose as he picked up the scent. “How long had I been out?” With a look of disgust, the cat swept the sushi back into subspace to properly dispose of later. “Now I’m really glad that I punched him in the face.”Turning back to Gremlin, he tapped on his tablet with a paw. “Can I build a map with this? I used to create star maps and I’d love to do so for our senshi. Also, I really could use a map of Negaspace.”☆
