[ The Beginner's Guide ]
A Guide to how this Guild works, what our theme and story are about, and how to start Roleplaying with us!

Beginner's Checklist:
▬ Read the Gᴜɪʟᴅ Rᴜʟᴇs ᴀɴᴅ Pᴏʟɪᴄɪᴇs Thread in the Main Hall.
(Its long, we know, but at least read the headings of each rule and come back to read them properly later.)
▬ Read the Cʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀ, Eɴᴇᴍʏ ᴀɴᴅ Fᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴ Sʏsᴛᴇᴍs Thread in the Main Hall.
(It has information on what playable Characters you can make, what NPCs you'll likely encounter in our story, and what enemies you'll face!)
▬ Go to the RCP Aᴘᴘʟɪᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴꜱ Sᴜʙꜰᴏʀᴜᴍ and make your first RCP.
(Instructions are located in each Race's RCP Skeleton Thread. Once your RCP is Approved, you can start Roleplaying with us!)
▬ Complete the first Solo Quest, Tʜᴇ Sᴏғᴛ Eᴄʜᴏ.
(It will introduce you to some themes and help you start out with your Character. It also grants you your first Weapon to add to your RCP!)

Some Small Reminders:
▬ This Guild and its story are based on an Original Concept written by Siel Kosane. If you have story-specific questions, he's the best one to ask! Head over to
the Qᴜᴇsᴛɪᴏɴs, Sᴜɢɢᴇsᴛɪᴏɴs & Fᴇᴇᴅʙᴀᴄᴋ Thread in the Main Hall, or sᴇɴᴅ Sɪᴇʟ ᴀ Pʀɪᴠᴀᴛᴇ Mᴇssᴀɢᴇ. You can also find him on our Discord Server.
▬ For the purposes of balancing, and to keep the theme coherent and consistent, Characters, Weapons, Artifacts, Abilities, etc should keep to the same
theme as the greater story. That means anything you'd typically find in Feudal Japan is probably fair game. Items of high technology or that adhere to
themes that are too distant from this one (Futuristic Tech Items, Fully Anthropomorphised Characters, Magic Wands / European-style Witchcraft and
Wizardry, etc.) probably won't be accepted.
▬ We thrive on word-of-mouth recommendations to friends -- consider telling your friends on Gaia about this Guild if you think it will interest them -- they can
sᴇɴᴅ ᴀ Jᴏɪɴ Rᴇᴏ̨ᴜᴇsᴛ anytime (they don't have to say anything in their Join Request, but it can help us if they let us know how they heard about us or why
they'd like to join).

Welcome to the Realm of Spirits!
Realm of Spirits is based an original story by Siel Kosane titled Village of Spirits, in which a young boy, Aver, close to death and unable to move, is found by two
sisters, Enshy and Iris, and nursed back to health. Upon awakening, Aver finds that he is in a different world, populated by humans, and the human-like race of
Spirits like the sisters, who are able to use small amounts of magic, and can sometimes be identified by their animal ears, tails, or other distinguishing animal traits.
As the two races struggle to accept eachother, and Aver sees the sisters' internal fear of humans, he decides on a grand plan to make the world a better place for
both sides. Using his wit, he will pose as a Spirit himself, and will use tricks of science and chemistry to make it look like he is the most powerful Spirit of all. Things
do not go well, and Aver quickly learns the steep price of pressuring world powers to change.
Realm of Spirits will contain a spin-off story to the abovementioned Novel, set in the same world, and perhaps with some of the same characters showing up --
but consider it like an alternate universe's version of Village of Spirits. The story will not be the same, though many of the themes largely are.
What can we get up to?
Guild Members will participate in both Solo Story Quests (built like choose-your-own-adventure novels) and Guild-Wide Story Roleplays, where we all establish
a Character, decide if they fit in with a particular Faction in the story (or if they choose to work alone and become a Splinterer), and determine their base traits and
skills.
Completing particular Story Roleplay Missions, or doing a once-or-twice-a-week Solo Mission will give you the chance to get your hands on new equipment, artifacts,
and perks that will power up your Character. This means that in order to get stronger, you only need to Roleplay. No Guild Rank or Crew Status will determine how
strong your character is. Only your Characters in-story exploits will!
Guild Members can choose to make a Human Character or a Spirit Character, both of which have pros and cons to their roles in the story. Obviously, Spirits can
use some limited magic, while Humans cannot, however Humans will adapt their own advantages as the story goes on, which Spirits will also be doing their best
to keep up with.
No matter which Race you choose for your Character, you will be tasked with helping the good guys in the story to beat some bad guys and prevent (or
resolve) disaster. You'll face monsters known as Feral Beasts and Possessed Beasts, enemy Factions containing Humans, Spirits, or both, and key characters
in the story who seek a means to their own ends. At times in the Story, good guy Factions may not see eye-to-eye, and may even fight amongst themselves.
It all depends what we get up to, together.
Guild-Wide Story Roleplays will of course give some Guild Members the chance to play the parts of bad guy characters, who the rest of the Guild Members
will have to try to defeat. The specifics will be stated in each Chapter of the main Story Roleplay, but I just wanted to put it out there that, inside of Roleplays,
yes, you can be baaaaaad. Just remember the good guys need to stay good and the bad guys need to stay bad, unless some twist gets organised
with the person running the Roleplay, of course.
A Chill Space
There will of course be plenty of places for you to unwind, chill, talk with us out-of-character, catch up with friends, play games with us, and let the hours roll by.
I'd love it if our Discord Group got a lot of love and we were to organise some Game Days where we all get together and play or stream some games
with eachother. Among Us, Phasmophobia, all that good stuff. Can we please?
For now, how about you say hi to the rest of the Guild by posting in the Gᴇɴᴇʀᴀʟ Cʜᴀᴛ Thread in the Main Hall?
Events! I demand events!
Okay, okay, quiet down; I'll allow it.
In this Guild, we'll be honoring an old tradition from some Guild days of old here on Gaia, and make sure we hold some Events for our Guild Members each
now and then. Competitions, Tournaments, Seasonal Festivals, Year Events (like Halloween and Christmas), and smaller Story Roleplays with a spin-off theme,
whenever possible. Participation means a chance at prizes, and of course, just a good time to look forward to.
Crew Positions
Crew Members are chosen by the Guild Leader to help run the place, and there are a few Crew Positions that Guild Members can fill.
▬ Fᴏʀᴜᴍ Mᴏᴅᴇʀᴀᴛᴏʀs help us run our Forums, direct Guild Members to the appropriate Threads they're after, help answer questions, get Guild Members
specific help from specific Crew Members, and help keep the place clean and tidy, and running smoothly.
▬ RCP Jᴜᴅɢᴇs take a look at your Roleplay Character Profiles posted in the ʀᴄᴘ ᴀᴘᴘʟɪᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ꜱᴜʙꜰᴏʀᴜᴍ and can make decisions on whether they look about
right. They can Approve your RCP so you can start Roleplaying with us as soon as possible!
▬ Eᴠᴇɴᴛ Cᴏᴏʀᴅɪɴᴀᴛᴏʀs help us run Events regularly, like Competitions, Tournaments, Seasonal Festivals, etc.
▬ Gᴜɪʟᴅ Aᴅᴍɪɴs do a little of everything, to a high degree of quality, and keep the Guild going alongside the Guild Leader.
▬ The Gᴜɪʟᴅ Lᴇᴀᴅᴇʀ is the one in charge, and also does a bit (or a lot) of everything to keep the Guild going strong.
Anyone can recommend anyone for most Crew Positions, so feel free to sᴇɴᴅ Sɪᴇʟ ᴀ Pʀɪᴠᴀᴛᴇ Mᴇssᴀɢᴇ with your recommendation(s).

That about covers the basics! Make sure to follow the Beginner's Checklist at the top of this post to get started.
And again, if you have any questions about what you can do next, or how something works, I'm sure you can figure out where to go.~
Take care now, bye bye then.
