❦ ✽ Shikoba ✽❦
Name: Shikoba Stage: Prentice Race: Elaria Age: Roughly 17-18 Height: 6'7" Build: Muscular with curves. Physical Appearance: Shikoba is fond of pretty things and definitely loves to show them off. She loves accessorizing and will have feathers, shells, beads, etc. in her long dreads.
3 Base Traits: Intuitive // Abrupt // Solitary
Personality: Shikoba has a keen sense about her. She usually listens to her gut more than anything else and is often one to step away from any logical or traditional boundaries presented by her elders. While she respects their customs it is not unheard of for her to want to branch away based on her own instincts and feelings. Back on Yael, this would often get her in trouble with her mother who worried about her future which seemed to veer on a different path from her own. Despite many lectures Shikoba still opts to follow her own heart which urged her to choose her own destiny and to venture away from Zinris.
Shikoba is very transparent and does not hesitate to voice her opinions. Her abrupt nature prevents her from getting along especially well with others, especially when she is prone to point out what she feels is folly. She is still young, however, and many just expect her to grow better with handling conversations (mostly holding her tongue) as she ages and gains experience from the lessons of others. Sometimes what she voices and does is very unexpected and it is not like her to sit still for too long whenever the urge to do something else strikes her. It makes her very productive but not too patient when it comes to helping others as she'll more than likely just take charge and handle things herself.
Because of such reasons she finds that she prefers doing things solo and will be more solitary than most. Her sharp tongue, her impatient antics all make it so much easier to just simply take care of herself and not worry about others. Needless to say if anything can be done alone and without a group she will opt to do it. However, she is not completely callous against the company of others and if they can tolerate her quick and sudden urges along with her sharp tongue then she will, in turn, tolerate them also. It is not to say that she would leave a Sister defenseless either. She would just prefer to take charge in tending to their needs rather than relying on them to match her speed, if they can then the more power to them but she will not wait for any stragglers.
History: Bloomed to an older Extremist Alkidike in Zinris, Shikoba was raised with the strict schedule of a warrior in training. She learned a lot from her mother about fighting, Aishan culture and while her mother expressed a deep loathing for earthlings the girl did not seemed to completely comprehend why such a hatred existed. Was it because she had been born in a newer era and never had much experience with earthlings? So how could she judge them without knowing them first? Shikoba simply pushed aside such thoughts when she was younger because of the lectures that she received when she first expressed her mixed feelings. The last thing she wanted was to argue with her mother and so she just kept everything she truly felt bottled up inside and practiced being a perfect daughter instead.
In reality she much preferred just exploring the natural world around them and gathering anything that caught her attention. It got to a point that her mother chastised her for wasting valuable time and the girl quickly learned to push herself to move faster than most to accomplish her mother's expectations while giving her freedom to do a bit of the things that she personally enjoyed. Swimming, exploring any caves around camp, venturing a bit further into the wilderness as she got older and the like became her hobbies. She found a hollow tree around camp that she quickly learned to store her collection inside of and by doing such things she kept a relative peace with her mother. The charade continued and she did her best to fit in with her other Sisters and spent time learning alongside of them while doing her best to not particularly stand apart. If anything her mentors praised her for having such a quick grasp on many training sessions but other than that she held her tongue and kept a respectful attitude towards everyone. Others her age may have thought her proud and distant but it was just a consequence of her holding her true self back from fear of their judgment. Still, Shikoba believed such distance was worth it when it brought peace between her and her mother.
That relative peace was set to shatter when Shikoba's mother realized that her daughter was not always in camp. The young teen was caught in the forests outside of their home with an earthling out of all things! It was not an intentional meeting but Shikoba had seen the Yaeli boy venture into their territory and out of pure curiosity approached him. Once superstitions and supposed hatred was set aside the two actually found it fun to talk and compare their findings from a nearby cave. Several gemstones and some other rocks with interesting designs had caught their eyes and they started to trade pieces with one another. Offering Shikoba shiny objects, after all, is a very easy way to earn her interest and time which the Yaeli quickly learned. However, their encounter was short lived whenever Shikoba's mother came charging forward ready to kill the boy. Risking herself, Shikoba tried to pacify her mother since the innocent boy was not that close to camp and during their argument the Yaeli managed to run away. Afterwards Shikoba's mother found herself disgusted by her daughter for willingly spending time with an earthling and Shikoba found herself at a loss. How could she recover the peace that she had worked so hard towards? She felt embarrassed that she had even allowed such an encounter to happen. Her weakness for collecting interesting objects had once again gotten her in trouble with her mother and this time it was worse than ever before.
Did she continue the charade and try to fix her mother's opinion of her as a perfect daughter? Or did she finally cave and just be her true self? The decision was tough as she did love her mother but when whispers of a group leaving Zinris for a new island caught her attention she found herself enamored by the idea. Despite the loss of her mother, her heart urged her to leave and so she did. Now she is finding joy along the coasts of the new island and living freely without her mother's shadow engulfing her true nature.
Physical Description: Her dreads are longer than last stage and are still pulled back partly like this idea with a clasp in the back. Her dread tips end in loose curls and there are various accessories in her dreads. Accessories can be based on last stage and/or new ones like these pieces with pearls (metal color cc), various beads and bells, etc. Bracelets, ear cuffs, even a cuff on her antenna if wanted, etc.
Her outfit and accessories should be strongly inspired by this - just without the green material on the top. Can take inspiration from this top as well if wanted.
Body Type: Some muscle, curvy. If her back is showing she does have more swirling markings that almost resemble wings there. Preferred Artists: Scar or Kana Full // Collab WIPs: Sure! heart

⚔ Creation over Destruction (Blacksmith Class Choice) ⚔
Shikoba was determined to become a blacksmith.
Originally the thought had startled her and was almost an annoying solution for her indecisiveness about the future but Shikoba realized it was the perfect excuse to craft whatever she wanted. If she took up such a role then she could add trinkets, unique designs and the like to weapons for her Sisters and not have to interact with them socially for hunts and training. It was a compromise that would satisfy her desire for solitude and allow her to help out the others at the same time. When she was growing up her mother had drilled in all of the fighting styles and weapons that were possible in their culture but Shikoba felt distanced from the idea of fighting unless it was for self preservation. After all was it absolutely necessary to slaughter others when one could simply make things and trade them peacefully instead? Just thinking about slaughtering others for power made her stomach twist in disgust. Shikoba had never forgotten the moment with the Yaeli boy and how her mother’s hatred had ruined such a fine encounter. He had been sweet and generous with trading so why in the world would she want to attack him? It was all so ridiculous. Shikoba huffed at the memory while she twisted some wires into a necklace setting. “That blue stone he had would have fit in here perfectly. I was so close to getting it from him!”
A sigh left her lips as she stared at her creation. It seemed so empty without a centerpiece. Shikoba pursed her lips thoughtfully as she stared around the small workspace that she had created in the shallow cave along the cliffs. She was sitting on a soft pile of feathers and furs, her legs crossed beneath the small wooden bench she had personally carved and brought up into the cave. Beads and coils of metal were scattered along its surface along with various shells and stones but none seemed to truly please her. Pale pink fingers trailed over the smaller pile of stones one final time before she settled on a onyx stone that she had found along the shorelines earlier that week. “I suppose you will suffice for now.” She murmured softly before twisting the stone in place and setting the necklace aside.
Leaning back on her elbows, Shikoba let out a small chuckle. If only her mother could see her now. The Extremist wanted her to work hard and become something like an amazon or a guardian while Shikoba was finding collecting and crafting far more enticing. It wasn’t as if she didn’t have the skills that other Sisters had but the Elaria had far more drive to be creative. She had been listening to some of the older Elaria who had crossed into the new island and their concerns made her realize that they were missing something vital - a blacksmith. Only one Alkidike had crossed with them who had such skills and she was already past her finer years and they were discussing finding her an apprentice. The thought made Shikoba smile thoughtfully. What else would be a better way to continue doing what she wanted? She was desperate to cast off her mother’s influence and crossing the ocean had only been the first step. Shikoba was known to have a blunt personality, an abrasive nature with a tongue whose sharp words knew no mercy to any Sister. Her mother had forced her to be silent and obedient for far too long and the freedom Kiros brought to her was beginning to allow her true spirit to flourish. Shikoba loved gathering and being creative more than hunting and planning on how to dominate the world. Hurting earthlings seemed like a folly and she was thankful that other Elaria had started to rebel against the extreme natures of their founding mothers, the Extremists. They had already been beaten once and what had that brought them? Nothing but an island of stone where they were stuck in a small corner of the world, their heads up their behinds to the point that they didn’t even see the sun. It had almost cost them in the past and she had rejoiced to hear that they had to suck up their pride to beg for the Chibale Alkidikes to help them. That was another interesting thing she had overheard from the older Elaria who had smuggled letters back and forth between the two islands. Shikoba could just imagine the rage on her mother’s face whenever the issue arose. Honestly? If things got resolved that was great but she truly hoped that the others grew up and learned their lesson soon enough. How much longer would they let the hatred of the past control their lives?
She for one was not going to let that control her future. That was why she wanted to help by crafting rather than destroying. If she could create weapons that would protect her Sisters rather than harm others then she would gladly do it. Shikoba would always choose to create rather than destroy because the world they had been gifted was lovely. Isle Kiros had taken her breath whenever they first arrived with its beauty and gave her such a fresh breath of hope that she refused to let it go to ruin. She would protect this island and keep any that wished to destroy their new lives here away. It was why she didn’t stop training and kept up with her weapon practice despite her decision to volunteer as the new apprentice to the blacksmith in the settlement. Shikoba was not a stranger to multi-tasking and felt confident that she could keep up with all of her studies. She had forced herself to be a quick learner because of her mother’s watchful eye and that was one of the few things that Shikoba was thankful towards the Alkidike for. She just hoped that the older blacksmith would have an open mind about exactly how Shikoba wanted to craft and the flourish that she enjoyed adding to weapons. What was wrong with defending their home with some style? The thought made her lips curve upwards into a small grin as she studied the bow that she had made for herself out of the silvery trees decorating their new home. Shikoba thought it was beautiful and she had even engraved it with flowering vines that were dyed a deep crimson from the berries she had found growing around the encampment. The arrows had feathers of indigo with crimson tips that she had gathered from around the lake in the upper isle and she had made certain every arrowhead had some sort of etching within the metal. Even if it was the smallest of blossoms, the engraving would mark the arrows as her own. Shikoba planned on showing the bow and arrows to the blacksmith in hopes that her craftsmanship would earn the older Alkidike’s trust so that she could become her apprentice. It was the reason she had spent days making certain every inch of the bow was perfect. She had tested it herself while hunting along the cliffs and surely enough it had found its mark easily after a few adjustments.
“Should I craft other weapons first?” She mused as she looked around her little cave once more. Perhaps a spear? Shikoba wasn’t exactly an expert with metal crafting yet and didn’t have a forge but she could do something simple with a wooden pole and add a sharpened stone until she could get a hold of more metal for the weapon. She was confident in her bow but what if it wasn’t enough to please the others? “Tsk.” Shikoba let out a sigh as she realized that her solitary nature would perhaps not be in her favor this time. What if someone already had connections and was the prime candidate instead of her? The thought made her frown and she was nearly tempted to barge into the encampment and seek out the blacksmith right away. No, I’ll need more tact than that if so. What would she do? Go and throw a tantrum if that were the case? Shikoba shook her head and twisted strands of maroon dreads in her fingers thoughtfully. “I’ll go and gather information and then see how to best approach.” She decided after a moment of deep contemplation about the whole situation. Either way she knew that she was determined in her decision to become a blacksmith. Shikoba wanted to craft and would do her best to prove that she was worthy and capable of becoming a skilled artisan to help her Sisters out. It was after all to her benefit in the end so that she could continue crafting in peace without the pressure of other tasks. The thought made Shikoba’s lips curve upwards into a small smile. She could already imagine herself at a forge, happily working away on weapons and later being able to add her own finishing touches to make them truly unique.

⚔ Growth Quest (Flying Free) ⚔
Shikoba is a creative individual who doesn't always fit the mold of her Sisters. She likes to express herself in her weapons but her snarky attitude once more causes trouble as she irritates the other Sister learning smithy with her. When a competition does not go her way because of the other girl's tampering, Shikoba relies on her pride to not give into her mentor's pressure to just behave and instead opts to explore a bit so that she can learn how to be a blacksmith on her own.
She was bored.
Shikoba sighed as she stared at the anvil sitting before her. The Elaria had worked hard for the past several months learning the art from the older Alkidike sister who had left Yael to come to Kiros with them. Another Elaria had taken up blacksmithing and Shikoba often found herself competing to do better than the older girl who already had a year of experience over her. “I think this one is pretty good.” She mused as she picked up the spear and twisted it this and that way to inspect the metal head and the curving design that went through the rest of the shaft. Shikoba had a habit of adding her own flare to the weapons, some sort of design making the weapons more unique like a trademark of sorts. Wiyot often raised a brow at her extravagance but once the weapon was proven to be sturdy and pretty both the older Alkidike often let it go. Amaru, however, often protested about the wasteful efforts since weapons were meant to be practical and not pretty.
“It’s too distracting!” She would protest with a sneer towards Shikoba who just smirked at the other girl whenever Wiyot’s back was turned away. Shikoba didn’t always say much other than give a slight shrug whenever Wiyot proved that the weapon was of fine enough quality. “Seriously? She wastes so much time just prettying it up!”
“I enjoy the arts, what can I say?” Quipped back Shikoba with a quiet laugh, “If the weapon works then it works.”
“We’ll see about that. I dare you to make one stronger than mine.” Challenged Amaru boldly as she stared at Shikoba, her cheeks flushed with both embarrassment and frustration at the younger Elaria’s carefree attitude. “We can’t protect our new cousins if we’re too weak!”
“Really? I suppose I am up for a bit of competition.” Shikoba had easily agreed at the time without realizing the trouble it would bring whenever Amaru pulled together some other Sisters who had enough of Shikoba’s snarky attitude. Even though they had all agreed to leave Yael there were still some who respected the wishes of their mothers and Shikoba’s smart attitude along with her loner status had divided her from some of the more temperamental Sisters. A small group of them, away from the eyes of others for surely they would get in trouble if caught, sneaked into the workshop to tamper with Shikoba’s weapons the night before the competition and it was the next day that Shikoba found her work not as sturdy as before. Had her arrows always had that strange bend to them? “What did you do, Amaru?!” Her temper flared as she called out the older Elaria whenever her spear broke against the training dummy. How could they mess with her precious weapons? What happened to a fair competition?! Of course the few Elders who had come to the new island didn’t realize that Shikoba’s hard work often resulted in good weapons and they found themselves agreeing with Amaru who was adamant about Shikoba’s lack of skill as a blacksmith.
“You’re too irresponsible and need to focus more on training and working on weapons with Amaru and Wiyot.” Chastised several of the older Elaria and Alkidikes. “Why waste time making something pretty when it needs to be more practical? Getting distracted by pretties will keep you from unlocking your full potential.”
Shikoba’s fists clenched at her side as she had to suffer through lectures by the Elders who had seen her weapons shatter uselessly during the competition. Whenever she looked to Wiyot to defend her the girl just saw the older blacksmith glance away, her gaze constantly elsewhere while her mouth stayed silent. There would be no help for her today it seemed. Instead Amaru got to walk away with praises, her position as the senior apprentice to the blacksmith confirmed, while Shikoba was told to practice more and to learn from her senior so that she could one day become a good blacksmith as well. It truly was a shot to her pride and she couldn’t help the tears of frustration that burned at her eyes whenever she turned to face Wiyot later that evening when both of them were alone. “You know that my weapons don’t break like that, Wiyot! Why let them get away with tampering with my weapons?”
“If you were too oblivious to the plots then why should I help you? You left your precious weapons here where they could easily gain access and have no evidence of any tampering. How was I supposed to speak up for you, Shikoba?”
“I….” Shikoba’s voice caught in her throat, “I thought you would at least vouch for me a little bit.” She managed weakly though shame decorated her cheeks, “Why? Why did no one have my back?”
“You have an issue with pride, child. If you had just tried talking with Amaru perhaps there would be less tension between you both and some sort of compromise could have been reached. Instead you kept pushing yourself to show that you were better than her with your unique style. How do you expect her to react?” Wiyot shook her head with a frown, “You are both too young and too full of pride. A fight was eventually bound to happen and your pride needed to be hit to create balance here.”
“Balance?” Shikoba scoffed, “We’ll see about balance. What if I just go out and find somewhere else to train and become an even stronger blacksmith than before?” She was just supposed to bow her head to someone who had tampered with her weapons to win a competition? Anger flared in her chest. She had come to Kiros to be herself and she would not hold back her talents or her voice to keep peace in a workshop with a cheater! Surely there was more that she could learn from other places so that she could return and show them how talented she truly was. Shikoba took a deep breath before turning on a heel to face Wiyot. “I think I may travel for a bit to avoid more conflict with Ayumi. Elzira wiling one of us or maybe even both of us will be more mature by the time I return so that we can keep the balance.” Shikoba smiled at the thought, her expression both hopeful and somewhat bitter at the same time. She was not about to hide her wings, not when she finally had a taste of freedom and would do her best to grow stronger in her own way so that she could help others. It was time to truly learn more about what she wanted in this world and to break free of the shackles that others like her mother tried to snap around her ankles. There was peace in the world for now and it was time to take advantage of it so that she could explore and learn as much as possible.
