Likes: tab ☾ Power tab ☾ His crew tab ☾ Sea shanties tab ☾ Material items (he's a pirate, of course he's gonna love some shinies) tab ☾ Sea critters tab ☾ Moonlight tab ☾ The sea Dislikes: tab ☾ Religion tab ☾ Long, sunny days tab ☾ Sleeping tab ☾ Disorganization tab ☾ Smoking Fears: tab ☾ Being too weak tab ☾ Losing a crew mate tab ☾ Dying before his time History: The man before the one now known as the Midnight Devil remains an elusive mystery even to the closest crew mates aboard the Moonlight Wolf. Before the silver hair and eye patch--before the unbelievable powers and pirate crew--there was a boy. Colson Lovard was born into an elite family of nobles; he was the second of his name, his father being his senior. While they grew up in a prosperous estate close to Versailles, France, the darkness of an unending war over religion--eventually known as the Thirty Years War in the distant future--caused fear for the temporarily uninvolved French. It was their religion and enemies versus their opposed religion and allies. While it wasn't until farther into the future--1635--when the French formally joined the war, the growing wariness forced the Lovard family to venture into seafaring business. Colson Lovard Sr ran a small fleet of merchant vessels that was wildly successful. Once old enough, Colson Jr joined the business. What he didn't know, however, was just what cargo was being shipped across the Atlantic. The prosperous slave trade had become the family's lucrative ticket to remaining rich. Growing up in a slaveless household with the teachings of just how inhumane it is to believe you own another person, the childhood teachings suddenly conflicted with the present day of his family fortune. With anger at the center of his teenage youth, he made a plan. At the age of twenty, Colson finally received his first command, and on the very day he became captain, he stole his fathers' ship, freed the slaves aboard, sabotaged the family slave route, and unfoiled the black sails. His life as a pirate began. While at first as a sign of radicalization from the rapidly changing political, religious, and economic landscape of Europe, this change into piracy became about power. To fight this war of one, he needed more power--and that was a slippery slope. Eventually tracking down a demon, he traded his soul for inhuman power, and thus the Midnight Devil was born. The past seven years have changed Colson. No longer the young teen full of anger, he has moved past his original agenda and still seeks power. With a more mellow demeanor, he has made it a point in his life to be a parental figure to those under his domain. Personality: Like most pirate ships, the Moonlight Wolf wouldn't run properly with a tyrant as a captain. Colson offers a fair hand and takes patience in even the smallest of matters that bother his crew. From heartaches to spice preferences to team squabbles, he's aware of most of it. Being one of the oldest members of the crew--and captain--Colson does everything in his power to come off as a parental figure. Since most of his crew are younger than he was when he joined, he often tries his best to cater to the specific needs of a role model. While he may be a pirate, he's also a nobleman's son. He can be charismatic and even follows proper etiquette rules. He'll even attempt to ingrain such manners into his crew mates, but that comes with ranging degrees of success. That being said, there's always another side to the coin. He's a sailor at heart, and with that comes a sailor's demeanor. He can be gruff and moody when things don't go his way, and while he never explodes on his crew mates, he doesn't mind getting bloody with his enemies. Crush: None as of now Other: tab ☾ He can't imagine himself falling in love with a crew mate, since most of them are much too young and he's also technically their boss tab ☾ Colson can speak French, Dutch, English, Chinese, Italian, and Spanish (it's nice growing up rich) tab ☾ He suffers from insomnia, but it doesn't bother him; he prefers not sleeping at all
