Name: Naia Stage: 2 - Treasure Hunter Route Race: Hapuna Gender: Girl Sexuality: Unknown 3 Base Traits: Adventurous, Kind, Playful Personality: A charismatic and outgoing girl who does not understand that 'no' can be an answer. Harboring a great love for stories and the unknown she enjoys a good adventure and is very stubborn when it comes to doing what she wants. Being raised in a large family as the youngest has taught her to stand her ground, especially amongst a crowd of older boys, and she has always pushed herself to prove that she is just as capable as any of her brothers.
However, she does have a kind heart and will sacrifice her own happiness and pride if she realizes that her actions are harming others. Yet, that does not stop her from playing around on occasion...she's just wary enough to make certain no one gets truly hurt. Growing up, Naia has matured a bit more since becoming an adventurer but she still does enjoy a good joke or two and often finds humor in various situations.
Description: Slender and lightning fast in the water. Where her strength lacks the girl can make up for it by speeding up her attacks and dodging any danger like a slippery eel. She has a very charming voice that can easily reflect whatever emotion she's portraying and she tends to use her mimicry while invoking the arts of storytelling.
Some quirks/habits: Theme Songs: [No Roots]
♥ History ♥
❣ She was raised in a fairly happy family with three older brothers and many cousins. Her grandmother kept her while her parents were often busy with gathering and doing other things necessary to keep their home and family safe. So needless to say she’s been a sheltered child and one who is easily swept away with tales of adventure. And while her older brothers may be a bit protective it only strengthens her tomboyish resolve to prove herself as their equal.
As she grew older, Naia's thirst for adventure continued to grow until she decided to venture out into the world. Her goal is to find any and all treasures, forming her path to becoming a treasure hunter.

♥ Afternoon Thoughts ♥
Treasure hunting was one of Naia’s most favored past times.
As a youngling she couldn’t venture too far away from home but it didn’t stop her from finding little trinkets around the house to hide. Anything counted as a trinket which worried her family more - their jewelry, their collectibles, some dishes, anything was fair game to the youngling. The game was even more enticing when she managed to get precious gifts from her brothers to hide away in the brilliant coral reefs surrounding her family’s home. One would think that it would be all too easy save for the fact that Naia would sometimes hide things and wait moons before going to find them. She would even take the time to create maps to draft out traps and other little tricks to hide her prizes in the wild sea behind her home. With the right materials a simple passage of coral could easily become a booby trapped labyrinth if she was left alone to her own devices for long enough.
Why would she go through so much trouble if she could remember where she had hid the items? How did you even manage to hide this here? How long did it even take you to make this trap? Naia would only grin as her family members questioned her playful habits. Was it to torment them or because she wanted to horde things for herself? No, she wouldn’t be so cruel to anyone on purpose and would never hide anything truly essential from her family. If they did ask her ever so nicely she would direct them in the general area where the hidden item rested.
After all, the point was not to hide the items from herself but to make a puzzle for others to discover. She truly believed that map making was practice to help her to learn how to become a better adventurer. The girl hummed happily to herself as she slipped between large tendrils of emerald and aquamarine seaweed which swayed lightly in the undersea current. One day she would go out and explore with some strange map for some glorious treasure.
For now it was an adventure enough to slip away from her brothers when they went out and about. It worried her gramma so much when Naia slipped away but the playful girl couldn’t help herself. She just enjoyed freedom and roaming about in the wild ocean far too much to simply behave and stay at home all the time. Right now she was playing around the fact that her brother had gotten distracted and given her a chance to slip away towards the ocean’s surface. How long until he finds me? For now she could just daydream and pretend that she was in some epic adventure. One of those with lots and lots of treasure and even booby traps!
The thought made her giggle lightly as she skirted around some imaginary traps before flipping backwards. Bubbles marked her escape as her feet kicked strongly towards a side current. As her lithe body got swept up towards the surface of the ocean waters the girl found her body embracing the warmth of the surface waters. While she loved the beauty and fun of the underwater world the girl couldn’t deny how loved the sunlight made her feel. It was like a lover’s kiss, a parent’s embrace, anything that made her skin tingle with warmth and gave a flush to her cheeks. It was no wonder so many of her race enjoyed climbing out of the waters to relax in the sunlight on the surface above.
Of course her gramma said that being out in the sunlight was far too dangerous if alone for too long but the girl didn’t heed such warnings. If anything her gramma would have her locked up in their home all day - talk about boring! It was hard enough to sneak away from the small area surrounding her family’s home. The place was so small and familiar that she could name every nook and cranny by now and would notice any new cracks or changes in the coral formations. How was that exciting? Watching coral grow would be as exhilarating as waiting for one of those slow snail creatures to cross the ocean floor. The coral would be even slower to boot! Naia crinkled her nose at the idea before she kicked her feet one last time.
The girl’s frown quickly turned into a wide grin as she broke through the surface of the waters and stared around at the world above. I wonder what treasures are out there? For some it seemed like the waters were endless. The sunlight was the only thing to show that the sea and skies were separated as the foam of the rolling waters shined with the golden rays of warmth. Yet she knew that beyond those endless tides of blue there was land. A strange place without much water where they could walk for miles. The thought made her shiver, both a mixture of fear and anticipation as she imagined what it must be like in such a place. Would the land be warm beneath her feet because of the sunlight? Would it give way like the sandy beaches did beneath her toes? Sometimes the beaches were even so hot that her toes felt like they were cooking! Naia had quickly learned to be careful exactly how she walked on the shores when she did get the rare chance to swim so far away from home. Those trips she needed her brothers for and unfortunately it was really rare when any of them would willingly take her that far away. Mostly cause gramma would maul them out of worry more than likely - a risk that Naia was willing to let her brothers take. I guess that’s not too nice for them. She mused with a slight pout before twisting back beneath the waters to peek around.
Still no sign of anyone from home. More time for her to play around here then! Giggling she darted off and started to play through the waters, darting in and out of the shimmering spots of sunlight reflecting beneath the surface, before she finally surfaced again. There was a wind in the air, the salty tendrils of her hair moving to slap her lightly in the face as the winds rose almost as in a warning that she should move back below into the safety of the ocean’s waters.
And now her anticipation could only grow as the river people came back to them. What stories would they have for her people after years of isolation? Her parents probably would come home with so many new gifts and stories! If anything their gatherings inspired Naia even more about wanting to adventure in the future. Their parents did trading and now that so many more areas were opening up the girl could only imagine how exciting her mother’s bedtime tales would become. A small smile crossed her features as she pondered the possibilities. Oooh what if they had a bunch of caves and other cool landmarks to check out? Did they ever go to the surface and did they have some new creatures that swam their waters? She bet that their families weren’t so restrictive like her grandmother was either. If only I had been born a boy like my brothers then they wouldn’t be so worried all the time. She would never understand why her gramma always treated her like a delicate seaflower while her brothers got away with doing so much more. It didn’t matter if she was the youngest either! She was tough too!
I’ll prove it one day, gramma. I’ll go on lots of adventures and bring back all the treasures for you to enjoy! She nodded firmly and imagined how her brothers would praise her while she came back with so many stories. Shoot! She’d even take a cool scar like what her papa had down along his back from some deep sea creature! Talk about impressive! Though gramma would say that’s not very lady-like at all. Another frown crossed her features before movement from behind caught her attention.
Aww. Of course her wonderings could only last so long. Naia sighed as another head broke through the surface and a fiery redhead boy called out at her, “Naia!!! You’ll have Gramma skinning me alive if you don’t come back now!”
Scoffing the girl shook her head, “Lame!” Yet she didn’t protest as she followed one of her brothers back to the deeper waters. There was no point in making more trouble now. She didn’t dislike her family after all and truly did love them. She just didn’t like feeling so smothered in the coral reefs by her grandmother’s protective spirit. As long as she lived there with her family in the coral reef her grandmother promised safety and it was here that she would be stuck for a few more years yet. Still that didn’t stop her from plotting for the future.
Eventually something would change and she would find her adventure.

♥ Treasure Hunter ♥
Naia was exhausted. Swimming for hours upon end was apparently something that one should only do if they had the endurance to do so. Not that she was not in decent shape, but the lithe hapuna had pushed herself further than ever before. The girl was somewhere out in the isles, far from the bright coral reefs she called home, and while she had her explorer’s pack there was a hesitation about going forward. Did she truly want to do this? Go out into the world on her own and find treasures? Naia had been so upset at her siblings, at all of her family honestly, because they always seemed to doubt her worth. She could become a treasure hunter if she wanted, seriously! She did not need to be some sort of professional fighter nor did she need a guard when she could explore the world on her own. She was more than capable and had learned so many survival skills while growing up, always listening to traveling hunters and working on her own fighting skills. She was quick in the water, able to twist and escape most holds so that she could safely dart away towards safety, and she was handy enough at making traps so that if there ever was something hunting her she could try to escape and make plans for going forward, capturing the predator and keeping the waters safe for others while she ventured onwards towards treasure and more adventures.
And so she pressed on through the waters, taking breaks here and there throughout the isles while moving forward to explore the world. One day she would return but that would only be after she had gathered everything that she needed to prove herself to her family. She would never settle as some dainty artisan, nah. She had the spirit of an adventurer and that would continue to guide her as she forged a new path for herself into the earthling countries and beyond.

♥ Reflections ♥
The horizon was a myriad of colors, violet and crimson streaks against a pale blue sky, and the ocean itself looked like dark gemstones that sparkled. It was not quite the same as the ones back in Kahi, but Naia appreciated it all the same. "Pretty." She murmured as she sat on the pearly white sands, the hapuna currently enjoying a moment on a Matori beach. She already had experienced quite a bit and it was only her first week in Matori! The fire dancer, Cyril, had been so cool when he showed off all those moves yesterday. Maybe because her people were more connected with the ocean the hapuna had never really witnessed someone using fire in such a way before. So many of their dances involved earth, water and sky themes with a lot being performed actually in or beneath the ocean waves. It almost tempted her to try to fund Cyril again to watch another performance, but he had apparently left the other morning on a boat towards Yael. Talk about a journey! She was traveling because it was her passion, the golden hapuna wanting to become a world class adventurer but he had seemed to miss Belrea already. Cyril was a traveling performer but it didn't mean he enjoyed leaving the comfort of his home country. It sounded like Belrea was a huge continent from what Naia had gathered, she was truly curious what it must be like to explore that country as well. One day! She was determined to explore every country, gathering information and hidden treasures as she experienced all that she could. If she had already witnessed some dancing with fire what else could she see? Someone summoning a storm to dance with lightning? A giggle left her lips at the idea. If she had magic then she probably would be doing things like that all the time! But then again wouldn't it get boring after a while? Maybe that was why some magicians were rumored to always be up to mischief or experiments, to keep things fresh and interesting. Naia could imagine that she also would be easily bored and while she liked logging her journey in that small journal so far, the small leather book tucked safely into a waterproof bag, she would probably go insane just sitting inside all day surrounded by books upon books. That was a nightmare considering how her family had constantly tried keeping her inside much! Reading, studying up on the arts to learn something more like jewelry crafting, baking or even singing was much more preferred in her family. Adventuring was far too risky, her childhood friend Pounamu's parents had unfortunately proven that by disappearing so many years ago leaving the young hybrid girl to be raised by her aunt, but Naia would not be deterred despite the risks. The hapuna reached into her knapsack and pulled out a small wooden case that held a pair of daggers. It probably would be best if she actually kept these out, their protection a comfort in these foreign lands. The silver blades shimmered in the sunlight with a slight curve to them while the pearl white handles had engraved fish and jade eyes circling around. Her oldest brother had gifted them to her before she left. Unlike the others she could easily talk to him and he had accepted her decision, opting to help her rather than trying to lock her forever in her room. "Just be careful, Naia. I know you would find a way to sneak out even if I did try to stop you." He had expressed, his crimson gaze full of concern as he hugged his little sister. "Just make sure you keep these and send some keepsakes my way as you explore." That was when he had handed her the daggers, opting to provide her with some form of defense rather than rushing her into recklessly running away. He even had taken a couple of days to show her some basic fighting maneuvers with them that way she could get out of a trap or away from a dangerous sea creature as quickly as possible! "Thank you, thank you!" She had hugged him so tightly before leaving, promising to send as many updates as possible. It was just unfortunate that Pounamu was away at the time…Naia's gaze fell at the thought. She had wanted to try to convince her best friend to tag along but understood that she had been traumatized by her parents loss from their own failed exploration, the girl not wanting to even think about adventuring even when playing with Naia when they were younglings. She was getting bolder, far less shy than before but Naia still worried. And then it didn't help that she was no separated completely from Pounamu and home thanks to that storm. Naia had wanted to take a short trip, come back in a couple of weeks at the most, and then convince Pounamu that she had been fine. So why not take a chance and tag along on the next journey? "But here I am." Naia let out a sigh, leaning back against the sands so that it could warm her back. "You gonna be okay, Namu?" She asked the pair of floating clouds that almost looked like fish swimming through the morning sky. "Sorry." She truly hadn't meant to abandon her friend and it was not as if she could simply swim back after making it all the way out to the earthling countries. It would take at least a week or two or longer to find passage then more time to get back! At this point she was committed to going ahead and exploring, sending a note when possible back home so that others would know she was actually alive and adventuring. "Speaking of notes…the office should be open, right?" Thankfully by the docks there was a smaller building with carriers who would send out messages across the countries with merchants and other travelers to try and help others communicate with one another across the world. Naia was determined to give it a try, having traded some of her valuable pearls and rare Kahi herbs for local currency so that she could afford certain things like food and a room but also so she could hire someone and send out a couple of messages. She just had to hope and pray that it truly would reach Pounamu and her brother in time so that they wouldn't be quite so stressed over her disappearance. At least they knew she had planned on exploring, they just didn't know for how long…even her brother would get worried if he didn't receive any word within the next month or so. And the last thing she wanted was for anyone to get really worried and chase after her! Naia was determined to get something out even if it was just a simple note saying, made it. "Alright. Let's see about this place. Hopefully its not a waste of my hard earned coin." She could only hope, right? Standing she brushed off as much sand as possible before venturing forward to seek out someone who could help send out her messages.
