┏━━━━━━━━┓ Aurelia Hayes ┗━━━━━━━━┛ ✬Deputy Head Mistress of Beacon Academy✬ Shadow Education Minister✬
Aurelia stood just outside the front doors of Beacon Academy, tablet cradled in her arm, waiting for the new students to arrive. Her staff was folded in half and strapped to her back, though the accompany quiver had been left behind in her locker. It usually didn't except for training or missions, but the staff itself had other uses besides fighting Grimm. Black suit, and back straight, she was the picture of discipline and severity. There had been a time when new students would need to wait for the start of the school year. Now with most of the world fallen to Grimm, Aurtrox and the council were determined to have new huntsmen trained as quickly as possible. Why make them wait until next year when they can start training now? She could hear Aurtrox's voice in her head. An admirable goal, but accepting new students partway through the year caused quite a headache for herself and the other teachers.
Pyrrhus Draco Cináed. No known semblance yet. She'd have to speak to Kail, the professor of aura studies about that. A semblance was an all too important tool in the fight against Grimm. He managed to graduate from Signal, however, so he must have enough ability in combat to make up for the lack of semblance. The other student, Xanthe Shaw, hadn't attended Signal so her fighting abilities were unknown as far as Aurelia was concerned. Rachel would push them to the limit soon enough, even with Aurelia disapproved of the professor's rather unorthodox teaching method. Xanthe's village had been taken out by a swarm of Grimm though, so she expected her to be highly motivated to become an efficient Grimm killer, whatever her previous training was. There was a time when being a Huntsmen meant so much, but these days Aurtrox would take anyone as long as they could kill Grimm. Students that should have been expelled for behavioural problems stayed. Students that normally would have been turned away, such as Xanthe who hadn't attended a combat school, were invited to train at Beacon. No more safety net. Students were given missions too difficult for them, often coming back injured, if they came back at all. There weren't enough teachers to go around and chaperone them. There were more things needed doing than they had Huntsman trained to do. So they went alone. All in the name to fight back the Grimm.

Pyrrhus would be calmly walking to the front of the school from inside it's halls, clad in the academy attire, to attend a student orientation tour. It felt weird for him not to be in his armor, it was almost a second skin for him, but if he was to attend this school he had to abide and respect it's rules. That was also why he was only carrying the bare minimum in his weaponry; his sword and shield. Traversing the school as a walking armory seemed unnecessary, and may seem like he did not trust the school. It was his show of faith in it, to a degree. Putting such thoughts from his mind for now, he would smile slightly and gaze around him. Beacon academy seemed to be a very nice school. Aesthetically pleasing, of high renown, and so far most people seemed friendly. 'Hopefully it shall feel like a home away from home soon.' He silently thought to himself. It was a bustle of activity at least, so he hoped he could find peoples of like mind to talk with. Though the atmosphere felt very different than that of a lab. 'I wonder how everyone is doing there?' He thought to himself, though sure his absence wouldn't change things much. There were always very busy, even if they made time for him, so he was certain they were wrapped up in their work again. As Pyrrhus walked, he would take a door to exit the building itself. Not the front doors of Beacon, but a side door so he could see the courtyard as he traveled to his destination. Being able to see the waters, architecture, and just how big the school was kept a smile on his face and such worries of change at bay.
Soon enough, coming at a sideways angle to the front, he would take out his scroll to ensure he was going the right way. An image flashed again of his guide, a blonde haired woman clad in black attire from head to toe, and showed an image of the main entrance of beacon again. He would put the scroll down, peer ahead in the distance, and clearly be able to make out both. Well he hoped for the main entrance, that was a lot harder to tell from his angle. Nodding to himself, and taking a deep breath, he would put the scroll away into his pocket and stride forth confidently. He would walk around her, stopping just five feet away, before turning to her with a respectful bow. As he straightened back to standing, he would notice she seemed to radiate discipline and severity. But he did not let that bother him for now, it was what he expected from staff and the level of discipline a combat school should have. "Greetings, student Pyrrhus Cináed reporting for the tour. A pleasure to meet you." He would say in a friendly yet formal manner. Even if he did not quite know her position in the school he assumed she was his senior and would respect that. Plus any staff at Beacon would receive his respect regardless, as working for a combat school no doubt was not easy and likely was made up from the best of the best. ♞ Post count: 1 ☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀ ▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▄

Xanthe Shaw
Xanthe had been awake since before dawn, she had been nervous about attending the school even if it was just for an orientation. Maybe nervous wasn't the right word, she couldn't sleep for the anticipation of it. So many people. She had filled her time since then with a traditional spear dance. A custom from the village that usually doubles as training, performing the dance requires countless moves and actions that must be followed in sequence, a focused hand and honed body are required to keep it up, especially back on the island. Once started, Xanthe found her thoughts drifting away from the repetitious actions and back to the sea, it was a place she often found herself thinking of these days, what she would give to be able to go back, to swim to the depths and breathe that salty ichor. She reached the part of the dance that required a sharp thrust of the weapon followed by a short break and a second thrust, a maneuver she completed using the motion to draw her mind back to her body and in doing so ended the dance. She looked to the clock, realised she might have gone a little overboard and then went to jump in the shower quickly.
One short shower later Xanthe was running towards the front of the school, she knew generally where it was but was cutting it fine. She was wearing the uniform they had provided and had the Ninth Wave on her back, but despite it's length she didn't seem to notice it. She sprinted through the school gates, in her mind the front doors were going to be straight ahead. What she hadn't expected was the distance between the two, however she was already committed to sprinting and wasn't going to slow down since she had convinced herself she must be late. She wasn't but she wasn't in a position to check. Luckily the path ahead of her was not crowded with students otherwise her approach might have been a lot more messy, instead she was able to dodge the majority. The issue came when she spotted the stern looking woman waiting near the doors. Even if this wasn't the person who had sent her that message, she would sure as hell want to know why Xanthe was barrelling about dangerously. But at this point it was impossible for her to just stop, she was going to fast, she stumbled, put her body into it and turned a tumble into a roll and landed just short of the pair without serious injury. Xanthe took a moment to herself, dusted her uniform down and looked at the woman. She new better than to just address someone while being out of breath, and while the roll was a little excessive there wasn't much that could have been done about that now. "Xanthe Shaw, new student." She placed her fist over her chest and bowed slightly, then straightened up. It was the formal greeting from the village, it would have to suffice. "I was told to come here for the tour." She looked at the other student and flashed him a quick grin before looking back the woman.

┎⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯๑⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯┒
How truly horrid it was to wake up only to realize that while you were sleeping, you lost everything. Everything you loved. Everyone you loved. As awful as it was, it was a pain Dani was familiar with. She was no stranger to the wrenching agony that consumed one's very soul. She was used to that gaping whole in one's chest. The place one's heart should have been, but instead bore empty caverns. A dark cavity that acted as a constant reminder of just how much you lost. She understood the healing process enough to know that even as you picked up the pieces and placed them back together so delicately, so carefully, that you were never really whole again. Your heart was left more fragile, more vulnerable. Wounds healed, but scars were left in their place. Everyone told you that those scars were the road map of where you've been and that those scars made you stronger. They showed just how much you were capable of surviving. Perhaps they did... yet, no one told you that even as bloodied gashes healed over with new, pink skin, the pain never truly faded. Not entirely. It became a part of you, intertwined so deeply with your very existence that it would have been impossible to distinguish your soul, from this painful blemish. It became a part of you that you simply learned to live with. She knew all of this down to her core. She understood the grieving process; what was considered healthy and what wasn't. She had been through this before. She'd lost everything before. She'd dug herself up from that black pit that threatened to consume her. She fought tooth and nail with the darkness that loomed over her. She had survived... but she hadn't done it on her own. When Dani woke in the infirmary, she'd been all alone. There hadn't been anyone to rejoice at her awakening. No one to throw arms around her or shed tears of joy. No one to explain to her just what had happened. Eventually a nurse wandered in and explained the situation, but even then, when her world came shattering down around her, there had been no one there to comfort her. No one to wipe away her own tears. She was all alone, she had to face it on her own, and even as she tried to hold herself together, she could feel herself crumbling. Pulling her knees to her chest, wrapping her arms tightly around her legs, she sat like that for hours. As if somehow if she held on fiercely enough, she could somehow force herself together for just a few moments longer, as if she could pretend she wasn't breaking.
It was true that she had never really gotten to Ulysses very well. Truer even that Feng never did much more than abuse and torment her, both physically and emotionally. Still, they had been her teammates and some one as tender hearted as Daenerys couldn't help but grow to care for them just the same. She still felt their loss, even if it was only a minor flesh wound in comparison to the one that had so haphazardly gouged out her heart. Jentel. Even thinking his name was painful, like breathing in shrapnel. She could feel each shard rip through her, shredding carelessly through the most delicate parts of her and leaving a bloodied path of destruction in their wake. With this pain, guilt always followed soon after. A sickening feeling that made her stomach churn and her mouth taste bitterly sour. She remembered that day all too clearly. The day that man had slipped into their dorm room and offered her a glowing jar. A man she could only assume was the person Jentel referred to as master, and a jar that she knew without a doubt held the memories Jentel had been missing. He'd left them in her hands. He'd left her with the choice as to whether to give them to Jentel or not. She was to choose when the time was right, or if it ever was. She could have chosen to destroy them entirely. It was a responsibility much too large. One she wasn't comfortable with. A burden that had weighed on her chest for weeks, and now... Now she might never get the chance to make things right. How many times had she gazed upon them when now one was looking. Watching the unpleasant scenes play over and over again. They were awful, painful memories... but they were still Jentel's. He had the right to know. He had the right to choose for himself. Would he hate her if he knew she'd kept them for him? Sure, she'd only been trying to find the right time, but did that really make it any better? Would he think it was just a silly excuse? Would he ever even get the chance now? Would she?
The medical staff continued to reassure her that he might yet wake. After all, she had been the first to wake up in over a week. Since then there were new patients waking up everyday. Yet Jentel remained silent and still, lost to his own subconscious. Dani had spent days, sitting by his side. Wishing, praying, hoping... Wishing it had been him to wake instead of her. Praying for him to open those amber hues. Hoping for a change, a sign, anything. Pale, iridescent skin stained with tears, amethyst eyes puffy and bloodshot. Watching him, seeing him like that, it made her heart throb painfully. However, she couldn't imagine leaving his side. It was only once it became evident that her stress and worry was interfering with her health that the school got involved. They encouraged her to take a temporary leave, and when she refused, they contacted her brother. Dani had been reluctant to leave Jentel's side, but seeing Laurent had been the first real solace she'd felt. She felt more whole in his embrace than she had in over a week. As much as she loved her brother, as much as he loved her, as much as he would have liked too, he couldn't take her pain away. However, he could help her shoulder it. He could act as a beacon of support and hold her up while she was too weak to stand on her own. He helped her through this loss, just as he had the loss of her parents. She stayed with him for just over a week, and even though she was still hurting, he'd helped patch her up. Even though her mind was still reeling, he'd helped her find some clarity. Even though she still cried far more often than she'd like to admit, he'd helped her find her strength.
This tiny jellyfish had found a renewed sense of determination and she was ready to return to Beacon and start anew. However... she hadn't realized just how complicated that was going to be. It was like walking into a dream. Familiar landscapes full of strange faces. Everyone she'd once known was gone, a true depiction of just how isolating her own social anxiety could be. It made the school seem so much larger than it actually was, and far more empty for it, despite the bustling crowd around her. Everywhere she went there were reminders of Jentel. Bittersweet memories played through her mind. The way he always challenged her, always kept her guessing. The way she began to crave those constant surprises, which was so unlike her. The way he seemed to make her stronger, braver even. After all, she'd been able to stand up to Alistair for his sake. She remembered that day oh so clearly. He had been so angry afterwards. He'd ran off, all the way back to their dorm and she had so boldly followed. What happened next still made her her heart race and her face flush. It was the first time either of them had admitted having feelings for each other. It was such a sweet memory, one she cherished along with so many others. Yet now it was tarnished, left bitter. It was stained by his loss. Where the memory used to bring her nothing but a blissful weightlessness and an odd feeling of twitterpaition... It no tugged at her heart. It made it ache and throb, like rubbing salt violently into an open wound. She missed him, more than words could define. She longed to gaze into umber orbs once more. She hear his voice. To feel his hand in hers. She hadn't realized she was crying until she felt the tears splash hotly against her cheeks. With no free hand to wipe them away, she let them fall, dripping down her chin and onto her chest. It was this that brought her running blindly through the courtyard.
Unable to see through her tears and too distraught to realize what, or rather who she was about to crash into, it was with the entire force of her mere hundred pounds that she collided with the red-haired boy. A small squeak escaped her lips as she rebounded off him, losing her balance and tumbling to her ground. She landed with a soft thud on her rear end, but truly her pride was more damaged than anything else. Already she could fill the heat creeping up her neck, painting her cheeks a deep scarlet. "I'm s-so sor-sorry!" The stuttered apology was but a murmur. She would glance up at him through thick lashes for just a moment, tear stained face partially concealed by pale locks. "I... I-I wasn't l-looking." It was a rather vague explanation, but it seemed to be the only words the nervous wreck of a girl could manage. Quickly adverting her gaze, pink locks would fall over her shoulder masking her red face from the other one. Pushing herself to her knees, she'd begin collecting her belongings that had been strewn around her when she fell. A bag full of clothes and personal belongings, another of school supplies. It seemed she hadn't quite realized there was another student there to witness her tumble, let alone the head mistress. Dani was about to push herself back to her feet when she caught sight of the woman clad in black. The epitome of structure and discipline, clearly in the middle of important matters that Dani had managed to disrupt with a single and rather dramatic moment of clumsiness. Another meek squeak would escape her lips, her face burning impossibly brighter. "I'm s-sorry ma'am. I d-didn't m-me-mean to." Unable to even speak in complete sentences at this point, the tiny girl would drop her gaze, letting her hair fall over her face. Rather than standing up, she seemed content to remain on the ground and pretend she didn't exist. Nice going, Dani. First day back and you're already making a mess of things. Chastising herself internally, she found herself regretting all her decisions already. Was she really cut out for this?
┏━━━━━━━━┓ Aurelia Hayes ┗━━━━━━━━┛ ✬Deputy Head Mistress of Beacon Academy✬ Shadow Education Minister✬
It seemed Pyrrhus had taken to exploring the academy grounds on his own, before the tour, as evidence by him approaching her from the left instead of from the front gates. With the school's many circular rooms and hallways coming out like spokes on a wheel it was mildly impressive that he had managed to find his way back. It wouldn't have been the first time she would have had to track down a lost student on orientation day. Aurtrox called in initiative and enthusiasm to be a huntsman. Aurelia disapproved, believing students should wait at the front doors. It was easy to get lost or wander somewhere you weren't supposed to be. Imagine the disaster if a student found the room Rachel stored the Grimm she used for combat class? In strange contrast to his intrusion into the school, he kept a respectful distance from, for which Aurelia was internally grateful. While her semblance was unknow to the student population, her disdain for those invading her personal space was widely known.
Aurelia didn't immediately respond to Pyrrhus. Instead, her gaze shifted to something behind him, her lips thinning in disapproval of whatever it was they had landed on. If the red-headed male turned to follow her gaze, he would see Xanthe Shaw running full tilt towards them. Though if he turned to look he wouldn't see Dani about to walk straight into him. One roll and collision later, it took all of Aurelia's will power not to physically facepalm. She had a feeling this was going to be a long day.
Instead, cold blue eyes swept from one student to the other. "Miss Shaw, do refrain from running in crowded areas unless Grimm are about. Miss Valwynn, pay attention to where you are walking." Her stern response to Dani would seem heartless, boarding on cruel. It was obvious the girl had been crying. Red puffy eyes and wet streaks down her face. Trails left behind from the tears running down her face. It would seem crueller still to Dani who likely had some notion that the Deputy Headmistress likely authorized her short break from school. The Grimm wouldn't wait for her to finish grieving though, and these losses would be the first of many in Dani's life if they couldn't change things. If they couldn't push the Grimm back. "Since you appear to be free, Miss Valwynn, you can assist me with new student orientation." Perhaps keeping her busy for a few hours would ease the girls suffering. It was as close to kindness as Aurelia could afford.
"I am Professor Hayes, Deputy Head Mistress at Beacon Academy. If you'll follow me, I'll begin your orientation." And with that, she turned and strode inside the overly large doors.

Which did make sense in his own mind. He would notice, however, her gaze did not seem to be on him and her lips seemed to thin. What that meant exactly he was unsure, not quite knowing the woman before him, but would turn his head curiously to see what had caught her attention. Pyrrhus would be surprised to see a redheaded girl running straight towards in school uniform. 'Should I get out of the way?' He wondered briefly, but with Aurelia standing firm behind him, he figured he should also just hold his position for the time being. This, however, did not stop him from adopting a more balanced stance in case the girl couldn't stop herself. It never hurt to be prepared after all. She would seem to stumble a bit, and would end up tumbling into a roll before them. Giving Pyrrhus the briefest view of her weapon...before he felt something, no someone, impact him from the side. Already having been braced for one collision, and having a natural balance, he shifted slightly but remained standing. 'Huh?' He would think fleetingly to himself, confused, as his gaze turned away from the red haired girl in front of him who had successfully risen from her roll to the pink haired girl who had just rebounded off of him. 'That...was unexpected.'
Confusion would fill his eyes, one at the sudden collision and the girl prone on the floor...and the other to the red haired girl introducing herself and saying she was part of the tour, Pyrrhus missing the grin due to his focus being on the prone girl. He would note the distress on her face, hear her apology, and briefly see her tear stained face before she would say she wasn't looking where she was going and then her face was hidden beneath her hair. "It's alright, no harm done." He would say reflexively, hoping to ease the girl a little bit in her distress. Pyrrhus, despite being the one who was run into, felt a bit bad for the girl and would've offered to help her as she collected her belongings...but would refrain as he heard the stern woman speak, his gaze instinctively going to hers as it radiated authority. She would tell Xanthe to not run on campus and identify the pink haired girl as Valwynn before telling the latter to look where she was going in what felt like a cruel manner...mostly because of the state the girl seemed in. But it was not in Pyrrhus' place to question that for the time being, and Valwynn had already collected her belongings by the time he looked back...though she seemed content to be on the ground as she apologized to the stern woman and hung her head.
The blonde haired woman would then tell Valwynn to assist with the orientation, making Pyrrhus almost feel the need to interject...but held his tongue. As she would introduce herself as Hayes, he would figure she knew the student and situation better than he did. And intervening, blindly, could lead to things being worse for the pink haired girl. Hayes would say she was the Deputy Head Mistress of the academy, and without hesitation would begin to walk away to begin the tour. Seeing now as his chance to act, he would offer a hand down to the girl known as Valwynn. "Here, let me help you up. We don't want to keep the Deputy Head Mistress waiting after all." He would say in a quiet yet friendly whisper, as if they hadn't met by her crashing into him. If she accepted, he would pull her up to her feet and motion to follow the Deputy Head Mistress. He didn't want any of them ending up in more trouble for delaying, as he had a feeling that may be a possibility with Professor Hayes. Before he would travel though, he would look between the two female students (assuming Xanthe had not gone ahead) and would smile. "An honor to meet you both. My name is Pyrrhus." He would say simply, yet in a friendly tone, as he would walk after the Deputy Head Mistress at a respectful distance. ♞ Post count: 2 ☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀ ▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▄

Xanthe Shaw
Xanthe nodded to show that she had heard and would take the comment on board. It was really a telling off and she didn't really have anything extra to add on the subject, she had been running and if someone had stepped out suddenly there was always a chance she might not have been able to stop herself in time. She had been lucky this time. She would have to restrict herself to a steady jog in future. Although as her admonishment had not included a lesson on time keeping she could conclude that she hadn't been running late after all. All in all it could have gone worse. She cast a glance at the other students, one of whom was sat on the floor looking like she was on the verge of tears. Or rather, the verge of bursting into tears again. She looked like a herring floundering alone by the shore, Xanthe licked her lips and shook her head suddenly as she realised what she was doing. She had had breakfast but lost herrings were particularly delicious. She looked at the boy besides her, to stop herself thinking about food, he seemed to be dealing the fallen girl with a little more compassion than Xanthe could muster. He seemed nice, if only by the way he hadn't try to devour the girl.
The Deputy Headmistress spoke and suggested that Valwynn join them and help with the tour, this made perfect sense to Xanthe who felt that when life got the best of you it was better to embrace distractions. She had worked on her dance and joined the school, so far so good. The Deputy Head Mistress introduced herself as Professor Hayes and instructed them to follow. Xanthe turned back to look the other pair, no sense marching off ahead without first checking to see if they were both coming. As it happened, Pyrrhus took that moment to introduce himself. "Don't sweat it, Xanthe." She gave the pink hair girl a wave and reintroduced herself for her sake, just in case she hadn't heard in between falling over and being given job of newbie wrangler for the afternoon. "Are you okay?" She figured it was more polite to ask now than never. She followed along behind Hayes keeping to the group of students so she could talk with them, not that she particularly wanted to risk the wrath of Professor Hayes on her induction.

The little jellyfish would seem to visibly shrink beneath the stern gaze of their deputy head mistress, flinching slightly at her harsh orders. Some might lash out, try to rebuttal or defend themselves. After all, Daenerys was going through a hardship. Something the strict woman was likely aware of, considering it had been partially due to her influence that Dani had been allowed to take a temporary leave from Beacon. However, the girl was much too timid and far too polite to even think about interjecting. In fact, it seemed she had lost her voice entirely. Her head would bob quickly up and down, indication that she had both heard the headmistress and intended to follow her command. She'd been hoping that would be the extent of it. She wanted nothing more than to have the attention of the students and Aurelia off of her so that she could wallow in her own embarrassment. Amethyst hues would widen at the instructions she was met with instead. Fear evident upon delicate features, it would take the girl several moments to regain herself enough to speak. She looked like she wanted to object. Helping with orientation was far more attention than she had ever wanted, and several more hours in which she would probably, once again, embarrass herself. Despite her reluctance, it all circled around to one undeniable fact. Dani was much to kind and much to polite to explicitly deny a request, especially from that of a respectable elder such as the head mistress. Hanging her head in defeat, the girl would nod once more, pink locks tumbling about her shoulders with the gesture. "Y-yes, ma'am." She'd murmur softly, trying, and failing, to keep the nervous stutter out of her voice. After a breif introduction, the head mistress was on her way before Dani could even manage to drag herself off the ground. Her meekness was becoming all the more evident with each timid word and gesture. One might wonder why someone as fragile as her was even at Beacon to begin with. She was a clumsy mess of emotion, but she worked harder because of it. She had a goal to help people, to protect Vale, and she wasn't going to give up on that.
The boy's voice beside her, despite the fact that it was a whisper, would startle the girl and cause her to jump. A soft squeak would escape her lips before she managed to clamp her mouth closed, biting down hard on her lower lip. Wide violet orbs would slowly move to meet his own crimson hues. Rather than making direct eye contact, she'd peer at him through thick lashes. Heart still thrumming rapidly in her chest, she almost missed what it was he was even saying, though his outreached hand made it easy to guess had she not heard. Cheeks still tinged pink were growing hotter and brighter once again. A vibrancy that rivaled that of her eyes. It was the boy she'd run into, and here he was, offering her a hand up as if she had simply fallen rather than bulldozing right into him. She was secretly thankful, that it had been him she had run into rather than some of the other students she'd met and seen. He seemed kind, seemingly trying to ease her distress rather than add to her distress. There was no anger or annoyance in his expression. Instead she was met with a genuine sincerity. It was the most pleasant way an unfavorable situation could have worked out. However, that wouldn't stop the humiliation of it all from coloring her face a deep scarlet. Pink strands hanging in her face, she looked like a shy turtle wishing for nothing more or less than to disappear into her shell. Even so, a girl as kind as Dani wouldn't risk offending him or hurting his feelings by declining his offer. Besides, she wasn't even sure if she could make it back to her feet on her own. She seemed hesitant, her own internal conflict swimming in her eyes, but after a moment a tiny hand would reach up and grasp his gingerly. Her skin seemed to glimmer in an array of iridescent colors in the sunlight. Subtle a trait as it was, it was indication of her faunas heritage. Allowing him to pull her to her feet, she'd stumble for a moment before regaining her balance. "Th-thank you." In a voice soft as silk, she'd thank him as she brushed the dust from her knees before securing both of her bags over opposite shoulders. Reaching up, she'd wipe the wetness from her cheeks on the back of her hand, smearing the salty tear streaks away before brushing the stray hair out of her face. Giving him a shy, sidelong glance, pink lips would twitch into a small, but genuine smile.
It was only once she spoke to her that Daenerys really noticed the redheaded girl. She was grateful for the introduction, considering she'd missed it in her duress. Being so quiet, she usually was rather observant, picking up on things that most wouldn't. However, her little tumble and the embarrassment that had followed had been distracting enough to blind her to everything else going on. At her question of compassion, she would nod slightly. "I'm o-okay. Thank you. " It was a debatable question. The jellyfish looked anything but okay. Tears had been wiped away, but eyes remained red and puffy. However, now was not the time nor the place to burden someone else with her own issues, and she certainly wasn't going to dump her own tragedies so carelessly into a stranger's lap. Even so, the fact that Xanthe had thought to ask, whether she really cared to know or was simply being polite, did lift Dani's spirits, if only slightly. Once again she would attempt a smile, just the slightest twitch of the corners of her lips. Small, but sincere. The timid girl was doing the absolute best she could, and that seemed to be the most she could manage at the moment. At least some of the color had faded from her cheeks at this point. Violet orbs would gaze shyly at the both of them, for the briefest of moments before dropping to stare at her feet, scuffing one of her toes absently against the sidewalk. A nervous fidget. "Daenerys Valwynn." It wasn't much of an introduction, and it was late, but it was an attempt at normal social interactions. Something the girl was always failing at despite her efforts. She just couldn't seem to calm her racing heart or combat her nerves whenever she was around new people. It hadn't helped that she'd made such an ungraceful and embarrassing entrance. "B-but, um... Well, you can call me Dani... if you want."She would add awkwardly after a moment, before stepping forward to follow the headmistress for the tour. She really wasn't sure what help she could be to such a capable woman, but what choice did she have? At least it was a bit of a distraction, something to keep her occupied. The less time her thoughts could spend wandering, the better. She just hoped she wouldn't have to be the one doing all the speaking. She always messed that sort of thing up.
┏━━━━━━━━┓ Aurelia Hayes ┗━━━━━━━━┛ ✬Deputy Head Mistress of Beacon Academy✬ Shadow Education Minister✬
There were a few students in the hall, walking in groups of 2 or 3 or 4. It was the weekend, but the halls weren't the most exciting place for students to hangout. They were either studying in the library, practicing their combat or completing their volunteer hours. There weren't enough huntsmen to keep the farms outside of the city free of Grimm and the farmers safe, so it had become necessary for Beacon to contribute to the patrols. There were few who were unaware of the pressure the food supply was under, between the refugees and the loss of land. All in all, the halls were rather empty on the weekends. "Upon your acceptance to Beacon, an information package was sent to your scroll. This included a map of the school. I recommend you make use of it in your first few weeks here. It is not uncommon for new students to get lost." Whoever had designed Beacon had certainly gone with form over function unless the function was to get possible invaders lost.
Soon the students would find themselves outside again, heading towards a different building. Pyrrhus and Xanthe would soon realize the school was a series of buildings connected by walkways and skywalks. "I'll take you to meet Professor Schuer first. She teaches sura studies here at Beacon and helps students with their semblances." It would be interesting to see what Kail would make of Pyrrhus. Perhaps Miss Valwynn could aid in a demonstration. Naturally, she had told Kail about Pyrrhus and Xanthe, but Daenerys would be an unexpected addition. They entered another building where the professors' offices were located. Aurelia stopped in front of one of the doors and gave a sharp knock. Oddly though, when Kail answered, she would step back and gesture for the students to enter the room before her.

Kail would sit in her office. She was expecting Miss Hayes, and two students, one named Pyrrhus and another named Xanthe. She had been given enough time to read through their files. It would be an interesting day.
Then a knock would come at her door. It was time it seemed. They would hear on the other side the tapping of a cane against a hard wood floor. Kail would open the door, and inside was pure darkness, other than the heating lights that were always on. On her shoulder was a coral snake, curled up for the heat. "Welcome Missssss Hayessssss and sssssstudentssssss. She would then have a puzzled look on her face. "You have brought more than you ssssstated you would" She would stare ahead, not really looking at the students. Her serpent tongue flicking out of her mouth. "It'ssssss no matter, please come in" Kail would then start to walk to her desk, the bright white cane tapping the ground repeatedly, until she got to her desk.

Just getting the slightest bit of attention seemed to make her shy, and eye contact was brief with her. He honestly wondered how she was a senior student at this combat school, but would guess her skills in combat itself and composure then were likely far better. 'I suppose the least of our worries is looking embarrassing to the grimm or worrying what they think of us.' He silently thought to himself. As she would reach a hand toward his and grasp it, he would note a strange occurrence. Her skin seemed to have an iridescent glimmer to it in the light. A surprised expression would cross his face for a brief moment, before he would look back to her and tried pushing it away. 'Was that...a trick of light...or something else...' He wondered silently to himself, but would not comment on it for the time being. He could be sure later if anything. Once up, her hand would leave his as she would give a thank you with a silk-like softness of her voice, if voices could be compared to such a thing. She would then brush herself off a little, secure her goods, wipe the tears from her face, and give him a shy look ye again...though smiling now. 'I must've been just imagining things.' He thought silently to himself before smiling himself.
It was shortly after that when Xanthe would introduce herself after he had, and asked is Valwynn was alright. Pyrrhus would offer a smile to her for introducing herself. As the Valwynn would respond and say she was alright, she would receive a skeptical glance from Pyrrhus. 'Playing off your state is unwise.' He silently thought to himself but chose not to comment aloud. For a brief moment, he would make eye contact with the girl...before it was swiftly broken, and she introduced herself fully and giving a nickname to call her by. Pyrrhus would remain silent for the time being but seemed content now with introductions out of the way, following after Professor Hayes as she was getting into the tour itself. While he had thoughts to speak more with the other students, now was not the time. After or later in the tour, perhaps. He would note the pairings or students going through the halls, though there were not many. He had heard that the students here were assigned to teams, and thoughts of if he had been assigned yet came to mind before being dismissed. 'Patience. I shall find out soon enough.' He thought to himself, in an effort to keep his mind clear and focused on the tour.
The professor would inform them of an information package being sent to their scrolls, a map of the campus, and that students frequently became lost here. He was not surprised with how large the school had been, and his brief foray into it. He tried to imagine if he had gotten lost before the tour. 'That would have been embarrassing.' He thought, rubbing the back of his head in slight nervousness. He would have to make sure to learn the grounds well. As if to emphasize that, they would find themselves out of the school halls and back under the sky. Despite her warning, he sort of liked the vastness of the school and changing scenes. It was always nice to be outside, and if he would need/ could do so for traveling between classes it would be nice. He saw they were headed to another building, noting how the school was just a series of them with paths between. A slight look of apprehension crossing his face for a moment before he took a deep breath to dispel it. 'I shall definitely need to familiarize myself with which building is which.' He thought briefly before hearing Professor Hayes speak again. They were going to meet the Professor of Aura studies and she helped students with their semblances. Pyrrhus would be very intrigued by the mention, his pace subconsciously quickening. 'Would she be able to help me?' He wondered silently to himself, having had his own issues with aura and not a semblance to be seen. The scientists could never figure out, or never told him, of a way to fix that. Hence his reliance on armor and skill more than anything else. They would enter a building that had nameplates of various people, Pyrrhus wondering if this was a staff building or just classrooms, before they would stop at one and Professor Hayes would knock.
After her knock, he would hear the sound of a cane tapping the ground before the door would be opened by a rather shot black haired woman...who had snake-like slits for eyes. 'A snake or lizard faunus.' He thought to himself, before noticing the snake around her neck. Pyrrhus held his ground though eyed the snake warily; while he was sure the Professor had it under control, he still did not fully trust the creature. Or that it could end up being a test of reflexes. Though he would note, from his peripheral, the room was mostly dark save some heating lamps. 'Why is she in darkness?' He wondered, thinking it may be attributed to her faunus side...but honestly unsure. She would welcome them...severely prolonging her S sounds, though Pyrrhus was unsure if that was a joke or if it was part of her faunus nature. But in his mind, it definitely solidified her as a snake faunus. She would say someone brought more than they said, making Pyrrhus guess it was Valwynn, but...she didn't even seem to be looking at them. She would then say it was fine and enter inside. Pyrrhus would give a glance to Professor Hayes but she seemed to be waiting for them to go first. He would offer for Xanthe and Valwynn to go first, and would enter himself in whatever order the two essentially decided. He would follow Professor Schuer towards the desk, but keep a wary eye all around. Wondering if there were more snakes here or not. ♞ Post count: 3 ☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀.☀ ▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▄

Xanthe watched the girl respond and wondered who she thought she was fooling, but on the other hand she had said she was okay. "Cool." She gave her a thumbs up and then followed on with the tour, it wasn't that she didn't care it was just it looked like there a lot to unpack and frankly now wasn't the time. "Yeah, that's a bit of a mouthful. And my mouths plenty full already." She laughed at her own joke showing the many teeth inside her mouth. "Dani, it is." She was glad the girl had offered a suitable alternative, some people got uppity when she presented them with a nick name three seconds after meeting them. Luckily, Pyrrhus was easy enough to say although she had no idea how it might be spelt, she reasoned she could always get him a singagram for his birthday. That or butcher a card. She was brought back to reality as Professor Hayes started talking about the map. She was tempted to bring it up to get an idea as to where they were now but instinct told her that would be a bad move. She opted instead to follow along and listen, she would have plenty of time to decipher that map in the coming weeks.
Xanthe looked over the edge of one of the skywalks as they walked along it, they were pretty high up. She wondered if it was punishable to jump off or just frowned upon. Hayes mentioned going see the professor of aura studies and Pyrrhus overtook her as he began to speed walk after the professor, Xanthe quickened her pace mainly so that she wouldn't be beaten in the race they were now having. They stopped in front of one of the doors as Hayes knocked on it and she considered their race on hold for now. It was obvious that she had won, but frankly it was the kind of race that never ended. The new professor opened the door and allowed them inside. "Thank you." She whispered to Pyrrhus, as he stepped aside to let the winner inside first, a humble gesture but one that Xanthe could respect. In a way she regretted entering first, something out the endless dark reminded her of taking a deep dive back home, and like under the sea it was impossible to know what was around her. She licked her teeth, then moved deeper in to allow for the rest of the tour inside.

The little jellyfish would fall into silence as they followed Headmistress Hayes down the halls of Beacon. The other two seemed to be immersed in the tour, and the last thing Dani wanted was to disturb them. After all, she'd already been through all this. The school was a complex and confusing building. She remembered just how much she struggled finding her way in her first week. The tour was the only reason she didn't end up entirely lost. Besides, the timid girl was probably the last one to push for conversation. She'd just choke on her own words before they even left her lips. Instead she took the time to attempt to calm herself, focusing on her breathing as Laurent had taught her to time and time again. Her brother was so different than herself. Where she was shy and timid, wishing for nothing more than to blend into the background and avoid unnecessary attention, he was friendly and outgoing, always looking for a new way to make an entrance into the spot light. Where she was klutzy and constantly tripping over herself, he carried himself with a carefree grace. The things that were so difficult to her, the things that made her heart race and her throat tighten, they all seemed to easy to him. However, just as she was, he was sweet and patient and never once did he make her feel ashamed for her many anxieties. He had helped her through countless panic attacks, holding her until she stopped shaking. He'd whisper soothingly in her ear, reminding her to breath, promising her everything would be okay. She tried to keep his advice in mind when he couldn't be. After all, he had a living, a life outside of caring for his little sister. What would he think if he saw her now? It was her first day back and she was already falling apart. Realistically Daenerys knew he would never think any less of her, but she couldn't help but to feel a little pathetic. One. Two. Three. Counting silently she'd hold the breath in for a moment before letting it pass softly through her lips, wisps of pink hair caught on the breeze. Repeating the process until she felt her heart slow, relaxing to a more steady pace in her chest.
After a few moments the rosy color in her cheeks had faded, though where the sun caught her skin it glistened under its rays just as it did before. Refracting in glimmer of iridescent colors like the ocean under the morning sun. Despite the fact that her face had cooled, she let her hair fall over her shoulders to mask it from view, amethyst eyes trained carefully on the ground. She seemed intently focused on her feet and each step she took. While the others might just assume she was trying to avoid tripping and causing herself more embarrassment, that was really only part of the reason. Truthfully the girl was afraid to look up. She was afraid of what he might see, and more so, what that might remind her of. The last thing she wanted to do was cry in front of her new acquaintances... again. Besides, if she wanted to stay her at Beacon, she had to prove herself to Aurelia. If she broke down in tears around every corner, surely the strict woman would send her away again. If not for her own good than for everyone else's. The task of defeating Grimm was made rather difficult with tears in one's eyes and distractions such as these. If the trend continued, she'd either get herself killed, or someone else along with her. That's the last thing she wanted, and while it might not seem like it, the faunus really was trying her hardest. She did her best to ignore the stabbing pains where the shattered pieces of her heart cut her like shards of glass. She attempted to ignore that dull ache in her chest, that gaping whole left jagged and bloodied where her heart had been ripped from her body. She really tried not to think about him. In the end there were so many factors that were out of her control and her heart, vulnerable as it was, could only take so much before it broke all over again. Try as she might, she was afraid her best just might not ever be good enough. When had it ever been? Why should that change now? Biting down on her lower lip, she'd push the thoughts away, forcing them into a chest in the back of her mind and locking them up tight. Perhaps it wasn't the most healthy way to deal with your emotions, but at the moment it was the only option she had.
After a few minutes they would reach Professor Scheur's office. Dani was familiar with the teacher, though she'd never interacted with her on a personal level. The girl was simply observant, and this wasn't the type of thing that would slip by her. She would freeze momentarily as Pyrrhus stepped back to allow herself and Xanthe to pass through first. For just a moment he might capture the fear in violet eyes, and then the slight relief that washed over her as Xanthe took the bullet and stepped inside first. Following suit, she would offer him a small smile and a whispered thanks that probably couldn't be heard, but rather seen by the movement of berry colored lips. Afterwards she dropped her gaze quickly back to the ground. She had been about to take another step forward to stand beside the redheaded girl, and allow room for the two behind her when she stopped in her tracks. It was Kail's words that would make her flinch, and Dani became suddenly grateful that the woman couldn't see it. Knowing it was herself who hadn't originally been planned for, the girl would seem to shrink in on herself, as if she could somehow make herself impossibly smaller. Considering she didn't even breach five feet or surpass one hundred pounds, it was an impossible feat. "Oh... um.. that's m-my fault p-professor. I'm sorry." Mumbling the words quickly and softly, Dani couldn't quite bring herself to look at the woman. It was only once Kail dismissed the fact and invited them all in anyway that the jellyfish would relax, if only slightly., and take her spot beside Xanthe. Dani wasn't exactly sure what they were doing here, or what exactly was expected of her. Silently praying that she wouldn't be asked to perform a demonstration or anything else that she could possibly make a mess of, a girl would reach up with a gloved hand, adjusting the bags on her shoulders before tugging absently on a strand of pink hair. Nervous as she was, she just couldn't seem to stay still.

Miss Hayes? Annoyance filled Aurelia, her stern gaze focusing on the blind Professor. Surely, Kail had been teaching a Beacon long enough to know to use the proper title of Professor in front of the students. Of course, commenting on it would be even more improper, so Aurelia kept her annoyance to herself. "Miss Valwynn agreed to help me with the tour today. Perhaps she can aid you in a demonstration." She answered by way of explanation of there being an additional body, despite Dani's attempts to somehow take the blame for it. "Miss Shaw, Mr. Cináed, this is Professor Schuer." Everyone already knew each other's names, Kail having the students files, and Aurelia having had told the students about Kail on the way here, but she still made formal introductions.
As the students passed her to enter the office, Aurelia caught brief flashes of emotion. Xanthe seemed in a self-congratulatory mood, which struck Aurelia as a bit odd. Without activating her semblance, she had no way of knowing about the 'race' which had just concluded and assumed she was merely pleased with being accepted into Beacon. Aurelia just caught the regret as Xanthe entered Kail's office, before Dani came within range. A wave of sadness hit her. One that Aurelia knew would threaten to overwhelm her if she attempted to reach out to the girl. It was all held together by a thin web of determination. 'You'll need to become much harder than that if you are going to survive what is coming girl' Aurelia thought to herself. The thought may seem cruel, but it was from a place of kindness. If they were to be huntsmen and huntresses, they would need to be hard and strong, not just physically so. If they weren't, if the death of a teammate could send them into a spiral, the Grimm would consume them. Out in the woods, Dani would be a shining beacon to the Grimm in her current state, calling them all down on herself and anyone with her. Though back at the school, Dani would need to barred from any missions outside of the city walls for a while yet, Aurelia noted. Pyrrhus was the last, his emotions almost seeming muted coming after Dani. Wariness and curiosity were a blessing after extreme sadness. Even so, she was thankful when he too passed out of the range of her semblance. It wasn't until they were all well inside the office that Aurelia stepped in as well. "May I turn the lights on?"
