Thrush, the alpha of Swiftfell, and his newly announced mate, Magpie, are expecting three little bundles of joy in the near future... and this is your opportunity to try your hand at joining their family!

Because this contest is conducted in a way that you don't know if you're going to get a boy or a girl... you can enter for both! Simply submit two forms: one for a boy, one for a girl. Your submission should be in line with pack customs and traditions, information for which can be found in the Swiftfell subform. This includes naming conventions, ideologies, rank options, etc. Because Magpie and Thrush are part of the pillars of leadership of the pack, we would like to see their children remain in Swiftfell. Therefore, by entering this contest, you are agreeing that you intend to keep the child in Swiftfell. Ensure your names you chose are available! We will be double checking the name availabilities and will discount your entry if the name you chose is taken. (The owners list can be found here.) Please do not enter if you do not intend to be active with the character. You may edit your post until close. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact either Faith or Ruler!

Thrush (In Good Faith), Father | Alpha Not a first time father, Thrush isn't as nervous about this impending litter with his true love, Magpie. As alpha and a sort-of experienced parent, you can expect he will be a loving but firm father to his children.
Magpie (Ruler of Everything), Mother | Caretaker First time mother and gentle soul, Magpie has been anticipating the arrival of her children with great joy and nervousness. A caretaker, puppies are not unfamiliar for her, and you can expect it will take a smart pup to outsmart this mama.
Lark (In Good Faith), Older Brother Personality for this little guy is under construction!
Magnolia (Ruler of Everything), Younger Sister Personality for this little girl is under construction! (though someone is feeling... feisty.)
Other Family (because holy cow there's a BUNCH)
Willow Bark (Ruler of Everything), Maternal Uncle | Beta Uncle Will (or Bark?)... let your little one decide. Whatever he's called, you can expect he's going to the fun uncle. Not nearly as serious as his best friend, Thrush, or as proper as his sister, Maggie, children are bound to love this relation.
Minnow (Nymphiea), Maternal Aunt | Caretaker Minnow... what can we say? Minnow. loves. puppies. She's on a mission to repopulate the pack single handedly if that's what it takes, making her mate, Willow Bark, a very tired father himself.
Bird (Nymphiea), Half-Sibling | Protector Your half sister Bird is a daddy's girl through and through, and can often be found competing with her sister, Halcyon (below). Both protectors, and both striving for their father's approval, you're going to have a lot to live up to... just know Bird is the friendly of the two sisters.
Halcyon (In Good Faith), Half-Sibling | Protector Hal and Bird are birds of a feather, if you will. Both serious and stoic, the most noticeable difference is Hal is willing to bend a rule here or there, where Bird simple does not. With that, you might think Hal doesn't like you at first but... well, maybe she doesn't like you just yet. Give her time.
Huckleberry Horizon (medigel), Half-Sibling | "Caretaker" OK... so. Huck. If you ask your father, he's a bad influence and not an example to live up to. Snarky and unapologetic, this half brother is slowly but surely making his way into some big trouble into the near future.
PLUS... too many cousins to list from Willow x Minnow. 8D;;

Use this header if you're submitting an entry for a MALE!
slight addition to Stork 2/19 (honestly could transplant one to the other, but have 2 distinct personalities anyway!)
Name: Stork Adult Rank: Healer - focusing on childbirth as well as some funerary portions on top of that, such as making sure the body is ready to be taken into whatever customs the pack has for the afterlife: someone that "delivers" pups as well as "delivers" the dead
Personality: Long-legged as his namesake, Stork is a kindly if fidgety fellow. While he's not good at remembering names and can sometimes appear scatterbrained, he has a fantastic mind for physiology and biology that makes up for it. Stork would love to be seen as a reliable and helpful member of the pack and strives to ease the pains of those that come under his care. The fact that his parents might have caused a stir with their coupling doesn't bother him, nor the status that may or may not have come with being the byproduct. He's a simple wolf with simple goals in life.
(He may also just be a bit of a coward when it comes to confrontation. This boy would rather fold and go with the flow than dare try to stand up and risk tipping the boat.)
Stork also, however, has a morbid side to him. He is as equally good in the portions of his job dealing with birth and aftercare as he is with the care of the dead. Bodies don't disturb him, or blood, or gore; they interest him greatly, in fact, especially with regards to epidemiology. Stork remains serene in even the worst of chaos but doesn't always get that others might find it distasteful to speak of death and dying as casually as the weather. Having grown up knowing the Swiftfell's history, though, he's come to accept the cycle of life and death early and may seem a bit creepy in that respect since he's already pretty comfortable with the idea of being a mortal creature and impending oblivion. He's quite harmless, at least, if a bit odd or shy.
On the side, Stork also believes that signs come from the patterns and behaviors of birds. There's their swifts, their early warning system, and then there could be crows and ravens and owls and other avians that are signs from beyond. He isn't exactly a diviner, but he can be a bit superstitious.
Name: Kingfisher Adult Rank: Protector or Hunter - she would love to try and create a "head" position to join her father in the Point some day, and in the mean time would shadow and learn from her older half-siblings. Although on the flip side, she also reads a little like she wants to be a spy, so it's like...this midpoint between the hunter-protector-scout triad
Personality: Lawful to a T, Kingfisher believes that the needs of the many overrides the needs of the few. She feels more like a tool of the pack than a wolf in her own right at times, but in a positive way: a means of protection, an agent that can be relied on--isn't that more important than being interesting or unique? When the pack ails, Kingfisher ails; when they thrive, she thrives. This girl, named after the "halcyon" bird, wants nothing but those halcyon days for the Swiftfell after what they have suffered, and she will do anything to preserve them.
Anything.
Kingfisher isn't afraid to get extreme and intrusive if she feels she must step in. As daughter of the alpha, she feels it's her duty to be the perfect example, and to her that means not being afraid of anything: civil disputes, invasive beasts, midwiving--she has to be good at everything she puts herself to, which is quite literally anything she might overhear a pack member require. Overachieving is her double major in the college of life, and she's going to get that damn 4.0 if it kills her. Every tiny mistake or miscalculation is a blow to her ego, for how could Kingfisher not have anticipated every little thing? Isn't she intelligent enough? Don't they deserve 110% and more?
Beneath her intensive work ethic is a loyal companion. Kingfisher would devote herself to her friends or lover the way she does to her pack and family, as a knight would a king in spite of it being in her name. Though, perhaps her methods might get questionable: she wouldn't mind, for instance, stalking a friend during a hunt if she thinks they might need assistance, or threatening and/or beating down a problem creature into submission if they're hurting someone else. It would never occur to her that her efforts could be bad. Other wolves needing help is fine; clearly, she's the only one who can't ask for it.
It's in her nature to forgive eventually, but betrayal and deceit are the two things she cannot stand. Very rare would be the wolf that is let back into the fold if they commit either. Kingfisher's black and white view of the world holds little room for error for herself, after all. Imagine how much another would be scrutinized. Someone that has caused trouble to her will always be a troublemaker, even if they are trying to change.

Name: Grackle Adult Rank: Healer
Personality: Taking a little after his mother, Grackle is a sweet boy to his core. He wants to be as impressive as his father, but lacks the backbone to be the strongest of wolves. He is quite athletic but finds he shies away from hunting and certainly cowers from the thought of being protector of the pack. Yet, he does want to protect his pack. But in his own way. So Grackle has devoted himself to learning the ways of a healer, finding that this route allows him to be the best that he is meant to be. Grackle has set a goal to be the best healer their pack has ever had!
Name: Honeyed Goldcrest Adult Rank: Hunter
Personality: A bit of a day dreamer, Honey loves the forest and her family. She can be found staring off in to the trees quite frequently, lost in her own thoughts. However, when she's not day dreaming her free time away, Honey is a feisty girl that enjoys the thrill of chasing and running. She's swift on her feet, occasionally making her hunts last longer than it should, just so she can run to her hearts content while chasing her prey down. A bit ambitious in foreseeing herself as one day being beta of the pack, right beside her alpha father, Honey has to figure out how to master her racing tendencies first. A challenge she is willing to take on, if it will make her father proud. In the meantime, better get your racing paws on! Cause she's ready to throttle you in the annual Great Rush~!
Personality: Hemlock is among the gentlest of souls. He does not want for anything more than to see others in his family and pack happy and thriving. Fighting is not his strong suit in the least, seeing it as the less apt way to find peace and joy and knowing there are other ways to find such. Some might say he is a coward, a subservient, but Hemlock sees himself as practical and careful. His calm nature and gentle ways suit his desire to help his pack in a kinder way. His heart is in the right place, yearning to care for those around him to the best of his ability, which is why he ultimately chose the way of the caretaker.
Name: Shearwater Adult Rank: Protector
Personality: Shearwater is a ball of pure, unadulterated energy and competition. She strives to be number one at anything and everything. First to the tree? Watch her go! First one finished with dinner? Observe as she inhales her food! And don't even get her started on her need to have the last word in an argument or discussion...especially arguments. Shearwater's desire to be the greatest shows itself most, however, during the Great Rush and the Hare Hunt. Her drive amps up to an even greater level, and she doesn't take well to losing. That primal need to prove herself and show her strength eventually focused into a desire to become a protector of the pack. Not just any protector, of course, but the greatest and most well-known. A legend within the pack that none could deny.

So this contest was particularly difficult to judge. At first, we had no idea what the pup looked like or what gender they were and so we were happy to read everyone's entries and imagine the possibilities. Then when we did receive the puppies, it was much harder! Suddenly the options were cut in half AND we were having to align the pup's look and feel with the names offered.
With that said, it came down to two very close entries. The decision was inevitably made due to the entrant's demonstrated participation in the pack as well as a great, dimensional character (despite perhaps not fitting quite with what the look of the pup might have inspired). Don't worry though! We will be perfectly happy to accept the entry as is or alterations based on the winner's preference! wink
With that said, now it is time for the reveal!
*drum roll*
Congratulations medigel on your bouncing baby girl!
