Feralis had taken a day for himself; to escape both the school and his team. He hated being in the civilized area, even if he had to in order to better protect himself along with his pack. So being given a free day... He would spend his time in the wild forest he called his home. He had taken all his gear, not that it was much; most of it to be used for self defense, but also hunting. He took no tent or bedroll, no real comforts from the dorm either. He was used to living only in the wild with what that had to offer. He didn't mind sleeping on the floor or elsewhere if necessary. He also brought no food with him either, other than some salt. He would get what he needed from the land; he would hunt again. While a faunus, his time with wolves had made his predatory instincts strong. He loved the chase... and the kill. The hunt was one of his favorite past times when out in the forest, especially as a wolf. He never hunted just for fun though. He only hunted for what food he would need and not much else; save the occasional extra snack or two. There was a natural order to things, and no point in letting prey go to waste. The risk of hunting too much leading to less food in the future was the reason why his pack moved from one place to another. Give time for prey to replenish their numbers and not hunt them till there was none left. But he specifically went to a part of the forest his pack was not currently at.

While he could meet up with them and desired to, he also needed to hone his hunting and survival skills again after being in that school for so long. To make sure it was not forgotten with all the boring words and numbers they were taught. It was good for the fights and learning to kill the shadow beasts, but little else in his mind. And while he would have to pull his own weight with his pack, prey would be scarcer. Not to mention he had no desire to take away potential food from his pack. So he chose an area away from their hunting grounds for his own hunt; one lone hunter would not be enough to wipe out or dent prey numbers significantly if he only hunted for sustenance. So, once he reached his destination deep in the forest and away from people or faunus... He began his hunt. Though it had been a while, Feralis was a skilled tracker and hunter. He was even better in a pack, but that was not the case currently. He saw a variety of different sets of tracks luckily, and was relatively spoiled for choice. He wasn't sure how long he would be here, but he knew how to make meat last. 'Rabbit... Pheasant... Deer... Boar... Hmmm.' He silently thought to himself, weighing the options. If he went for the small prey, he would need at least two of them for dinner. If he went for a deer or boar, he would need to preserve a lot of it. Between deer and boar though, the boar was the far more dangerous option. While that usually was what he wanted, he frowned. 'Not for my first hunt.' He thought to himself as he shook his head. He would build up to that. Deciding on the deer, Feralis would move on slowly follow the tracks to find dinner.

Later on that evening, a small column of smoke arose into the night sky. The stars were out, and a crescent moon adorned the sky like a jewel. Following the trail of smoke down to a small clearing, a fire pit could be seen as the source. Over it various cuts and sizes of meat were being cooked beneath the cool sky as the tantalizing smell wafted through the forest, some of it carried with the light wind. Feralis lay with is back against the tree not far from his soon to be meal, absently gnawing on a bone as he was cleaning his axe. Nearby, arranged over a pile of sticks, was the rest of the meat that awaited curing. He planned to salt them and smoke them a little later on after dinner was cooked. For now though, he was not in immediate rush. The carcass of the deer had been left elsewhere in the forest, a distraction for any other predators that got hungry, food for scavengers, and to go back to the earth from once it came to feed the plants that sustained it. It was fulfilling its role in the natural cycle, or so Feralis believed. He let out a content sigh as he relaxed, eyes gazing skyward. While he disliked his semblance, it did nothing to stop him from liking the moon. The natural transformations were the ones he enjoyed; knowing it was not permanent. His thoughts would drift to that of his pack, both wolf and people alike in the case of MAKO. There was a lot he had to do and worry about, but for now at least he could think about it in peace. However, even lost in thought, he was not oblivious to his surroundings. He was relying mostly on his hearing and peripheral in case any unwanted visitors were to appear.

Ylva was slowly beginning to adjust to life outside of her tribe's teachings. Though she would still have much to learn, she had the friendship with her teammate and was thankful to the cheetah faunus for showing her how to use her scroll. Still, she desired a bit of freedom in nature. To do this, when she had free time the young petite wolf would cut herself off from the modern world's comforts...including the scroll after telling her team where she was going. Her travel sack ready, she waved goodbye and went on her way.

The petite wolf girl was dressed simply as she walked quietly through the forest, having quite a bit of luck as she walked further from modern life and closer to what she had with her tribe. Looking forward to enjoying the forest's gifts, Ylva smiled and started for a place to sleep. She was not unaware of the scent of other wolves closer to the school grounds, taking caution to not run into their territory as she entered the forest. Deep enough in the forest now, and away from any familiar scents, Ylva would scratch one of the trees she passed and rub her shoulder (or to others, her scent) to mark territory; hopefully warding off unwanted.
"Beautiful," The young wolf thought tomorrow.

An hour before dusk, she would set up camp with a blanket on the ground and a small pit for a fire for later. For now though, she would enjoy the setting sun. Preferring to hunt at night as her night-vision allowed her to see at night. Stretching silently, she would then look to the sky painted pinks and oranges and purples before turning the darkest of blues. It was mesmerizing to the innocent young woman. She then sighed as her ears twitched, she heard something...but ignored her raised hackles for now.
"I need to get food," she thought and stood. Taking her spear with her, the young woman would go for her dinner.

It was an interesting experience to say the least, as she had ended up with catching about two bunnies to roast over the flames she had made in the pit. The tantalizing scent of cooking meat with wild mint and berries. She would not waste any part of the hares though. The fur would make good thread and the skins would make good gloves or pouches; she hadn't decided yet.
"What is that," Ylva would sniff the air after a bit and enjoying her meal. "Another fire?" Curiosity would overtake her as she would then take a spear with her to investigate the scent coming from about 900 yards from her own, only stopping about a yard from the smoke, a bush keeping her covered.

Feralis' mind calmly thought about the state of things currently, and his progress while being at beacon. In terms of progress he was honestly unsure. He knew the main purpose of the academy was to learn to fight Grimm, even if it had so many other unnecessary things attached to it. 'Restrictive clothes, reading, writing...math. Pointless.' He thought to himself. There were other things to, like manners and the way you were supposed to act too that he found utterly pointless. It was almost like you had to pretend a lot of the time just because people couldn't take the truth. But in terms of the main things he found pointless... definitely those. He didn't get why they taught or required that for a fighting school. In those categories... he was not exactly doing well. He never was the academic type, well he may have been when he was younger. But his childhood was such that any desire for skills outside of survival was quickly discarded. He learned to survive and live; he didn't need all these fancy city things in his life.

He would find his mind drifting to the next thing that was near constantly on there; even when in his dorm. 'Mako...' He thought with slight sadness to himself. His old team... the one destined to destroy anyone in their way. The unstoppable fighting force in Beacon... How quickly that dream had fallen apart. One disease for their leader... and the team was gone soon after. Maria, the one who could not be beat in a fight. Even when he teamed up with Kendall. Maria, the one who could no longer even move without assistance. Needing robots and tech to even do something as simple as speaking. That had been the biggest reality check he had since coming back. Then Kendall... as much as he hated the feline, he had missed their antagonism. The cat who would not let even the slightest insult or slight fly without a flurry of claws... The cat who was now in a coma for who knows how long. While they never got along even on the best circumstances, he still wouldn't have wished this on the feline. She at least deserved to go down tooth and claw as they both would've wanted. Thoughts then drifted to the fourth member of their team, one who he had heard nothing of since he joined. He hoped that member had escaped the misfortune of the rest of the team. And finally Rachel... he knew the shark was still here. Knew she was relatively fine, and hell, less violent from some rumors. But... he had never sought her out yet. He didn't know why... perhaps his little runaway bringing some shame in his mind and he didn't want to face his old mentor. There was some guilt there that he couldn't pin down, not even out here. He would likely only figure it out once he saw her again.

Feralis moved away from such thoughts as he could smell the meat being adequately cooked. Which may sound strange to most, but for the canine he knew roughly when it was good based on that alone. Which, even if he was a bit early... he did eat meat rare all the time as well. So him cooking was honestly a measure of how much patience his stomach had before the need to devour meat became overwhelming. Though nowhere near as bad as it got for Rachel. He stood up from the tree and stretched, letting off a soft sound of relief as he did. It always felt good, if tiring, to stretch after being seated a while. Going over to the meat he would take out one of the smaller chunks and experimentally took a bite. Regretting it a little as it was very hot, but also very tasty. The meat was still rare, but Feralis honestly preferred it. Trying to cook it anymore was just a habit others tried enforcing and saying was better for him. So now alone... he shook that notion from his head. Though he would leave the other chunks cooking for now. Just to make a taste comparison. Blowing on it a bit as he moved back to the tree, he would take another bite once it cooled down a bit. And smile a toothy grin as he felt some of the blood run past his lips. 'Perfect.' He thought to himself as he chewed on the meat contently.

Feralis would continue to eat at his chunk for a little bit in peace until he was about halfway through it. His guard had dropped lightly during that time, the scent of cooking meat being strong for him so his noise could notice nothing else, until his peripheral caught sight of movement. He paused in his eating as he did, ears pricking up and to the direction of where he last saw movement. Brown eyes would raise and look in that direction as all he could see were trees and bushes. He listened for any potential sound and searched for any additional movement, but whatever it was either left or was waiting. His nose was currently unable to detect any additional smell because of his cooking, which he cursed in his mind. He knew not what lay out there, only that something was there. Eyes not moving from the general area where he noticed movement, he let out a deep wolfish growl. And as he did he rose from his seated position, which inadvertently helped him out. From his lower to the ground angle he could not see anything. But now standing, he could just make out the outline of something there. Something standing; not on all fours like a beast of the wild. It was also not high enough to be a bear. Leaving only one possible option left. "I know you are there. Show yourself. Now." He would say in an aggressive tone of voice. He knew not why another was there and trying to stay hidden from him, but he did not trust it. He honestly would've trusted a creature of the forest more than a human or faunus. And with his sense of smell ability, he knew not who it was. Though knowing his luck, it was probably a cat.

Ylva had her focus on keeping the rabbits stuffed with the mint and berries from getting overcooked. Personally though, she actually enjoyed her meat rare, though her aunt and uncle would get after her for it. "No one's here to lecture me now though," The young wolf thought with a smile. And so, she would let the skins rest on a close-by rock within reach. Right now though, she just focused on the meat. Tearing a warm piece, she would taste test it, ignoring the slight burn and all the while, ignoring the soft clinking of the shackle around her neck. "Okay, it should be fine," she thought before taking both off the spit and on a flat stone before she would go off on her exploration.

As she traveled further towards the scent of cooked meat and fire, the silent faunus would tread ever closer. At least until she felt it was a safe distance to stop. Due to her petite form, she had not really intended to hide, but must have been naturally hidden, because none attacked her yet it seemed. As she got closer, a sniff of the air told her it was canine?...How strange. Her ears perked up and twitched towards the location of the sound then laid back a little in concern. Not long after she had paused in her careful steps she would hear an aggressive male growl and voice...Older, from what she could tell.
"Well, that's promising," Ylva thought sarcastically, her tail wagged slowly, as her spear remained at rest in her hand. "I'm fine right here," She replied, her voice a soft feminine sound to the ears, her tone would say she was calm but cautious. Unsure if the man would attack, the petite wolf faunus would prepare...Just in case he planned to pounce.

His response was not what he was expecting. He heard a female voice surprisingly, but that wasn't what surprised him the most. No, it was the words she actually said about being fine where she was. 'So she spys on me from the darkness, and is now saying she doesn't want to reveal herself.' He thought in his mind, thinking whoever this was was being ridiculous. She had come to his campsite for whatever reason, and rather than revealing herself once he noticed her, she felt she should stay hidden away. What kind of messed up world was human/ faunus society at this point that they would do that. He kept his gaze centered on where he saw her last, but not locked onto it. In case there were any others with her there or if she tried to sneakily move away. He was not about to let himself be ambushed. He looked down to see his crossbow and Axe resting against the tree he had been previously, wondering which he should get if any. He still had his retractable spikes if he needed a weapon fast after all, and he could use it to trick them into thinking they had the upper hand. Ultimately, he left those two where they were. He didn't want to be attacked while reaching for them.

Peering into the dark bushes from his spot, he noticed no others for the moment. Not one to waste time he went straight to the point as his ears and tail moved agitated. "How many of you are there and why are you spying on me?" He would ask bluntly and simply, a firm and aggressive tone in his voice. He knew not her purpose or why she was there, but he found it suspicious a person would wander to his camp in the middle of the woods. Especially when with the fire it was obvious, in his mind, that they would expect someone here. Which begged the question of why they would come here and try to hide in the first place. If they were coming to see who it is they should have revealed themselves rather than lurk in the shadows. Especially if it were for harmless intentions. Her refusal to come out of there only made him suspicious. He didn't know if the girl would answer truthfully, but he asked it anyway. It was how he was, on the off chance they were honest. Not that it would make him trust her much more after her last response, but it was always worth a shot. His guard would remain up though, in case there were others circling around to get him from behind. He was ready for a fight if that was what came of it. Even if the girl tried leaving though, that would not be the end of it. But, if she were looking, she would notice he made no move to his obvious weapons by the tree despite the current atmosphere.

Ylva's ears laid back slightly, a bit suspicious before reason would win out. She would then wait patiently as she listened to the young-sounding male. Her tail wagged slowly in uncertainty before hearing his next question. "Does it sound like there's more than myself," The young wolf thought with some sarcasm but kept that to herself. "Probably not wise right now. Not with the suspicion in his voice," she surmised before nodding slightly to herself. The question was fair though, after she thought about it and decided to answer. "I am on my own," Ylva replied truthfully, her voice remaining calm. Taking a deep breath, she sighed and steeled her nerves. Her spear remaining at rest. "Promise no harm, and I will come out," She finally told him, and waited. Though she was curious, she would not come out until he promised not to injure or harm her.

Her response was calm, though he could not tell if it was truthful, as she claimed she was on her own. While his ears were pricked and actively listening, he could hear no other sounds that would really indicate footsteps around him. In fact, the only life he could hear besides her voice at the current time was of insects all around. He did not know if there were others or not; they could be particularly skilled at moving silently, something he never really focused too much on except when hunting. Or it could be the sound from the insects drown out the already quiet sounds of others around. He did not know and would have no way to really verify any of this from his current position. If there were others and they had any sort of ranged weapon, he was probably already in their sights. But seeing as she did not claim there were any more, he could not think of a way such a lie would really help. Sure, he would take down as many as he could but if she had numbers enough to surround him she wouldn't need to pretend to be alone. So, while still un-trusting, it did set the wolf's mind at ease a little. 'Though she has conveniently left out why she was spying on me.' He thought to himself with slight annoyance. She had, at the least, answered one question. Though not the one that would've made him any more trusting of her intent.

He would blink in slight surprise as he heard speak again after a brief pause. 'She's acting like i'm the one that would attack, like I was the one actively seeking her out.' He thought to himself incredulously. In his mind at least she was sounding like the one at fear of things. Rather than the guy who obviously set up camp here and had an uninvited intruder who was lurking in the shadows. He sighed to himself though. 'Talking to a bush is getting old.' He thought to himself with slight irritation. "If I really wanted to hurt you, I wouldn't be here talking. I will only promise that if you do." Feralis would say firmly, albeit less aggressively. He intended her no harm unless she intended it for him. And he was blunt with his words. If he truly intended her harm, he would not have wasted any time with words. He would wait patiently for the female to reveal herself, still making no move for his weapons. He wouldn't need them if she chose to fight, and he was beginning to think she was more ridiculous than dangerous. Not that he would fully underestimate her though. If she made it this far alive, she had to have some level of skill in the wild. Especially to stay out here at night. If she did end up promising, he would promise in return.

Ylva took a moment to decide if she should really remain here or just walk away. But to walk away would mean the possibility that he might follow her back to her camp. She did not want that...But she also had nicely seasoned rabbit at her camp as well. Shaking her head vigorously, the petite wolf forced herself to focus on the present. "Will he agree to my request," The young wolf wondered as she waited with bated breath, she had not been aware she had been holding.

She might have forgotten to answer, or she might have just chosen not to answer the latter question at all. In truth, she had not really focused on the latter question at that time. He made a fair point, she noted and took a deep breath. Tail swaying slowly in uncertainty, she would perk her ears slightly before nodding to herself.
"Alright, so I have his word," she thought and nodded sightly. "Fair enough. I promise I shall not harm you as well," Ylva replied calmly before slowly sidestepping from the bush. Presenting her weapon and setting it down before stepping in forward without Ulv Lofte. The petite young woman with obsidian eyes and ebony hair that rested at the calf, looked up. And up, and up at the Goliath of a wolf faunus. More like a wolf god. "Umm...hi," She greeted, suddenly meek, Her ears slightly rested back. Though after the momentary admiration of the handsome older male, she cleared her mind and her throat, though careful not to meet his eyes completely.

Feralis was not left waiting long, thankfully for her case, before she agreed to his terms and promised not to bring any harm to him. Whether he could trust her word remained to be seen, but he would keep his. "Then I promise you no harm so long as you keep your word." He would say confidently out loud, though that did little to ease the tall wolf. While he was a wolf of honor, not everyone lived up to their words from what he heard. It was why he preferred the animal world to the human as well. 'At least with beasts you know what you are getting into, and they do not hide their intents like people do.' He thought to himself. Though despite knowing people were more likely to lie, it wouldn't make him break his own word. 'But any who crosses me shall not leave without a few scars.' He thought to himself resolutely. Eyes and ears focused to where he last heard the female voice, waiting for her to appear, he would notice movement and see a figure side step from the bush. He was surprised to say the least. She was wearing a rather simple dress and outfit, not sure how else he could describe it. She also had a metal chain collar thing too around her neck... No, the thing that caught his attention and surprised him most was her weapon. A dual blade bladed spear that was taller than the female herself. If he were to fight her it would be interesting with his primary choice of weapon, though he had never fought against something like that before. However, she just showed it to him (or so he thought) before setting it on the ground. Feralis understood it as a gesture of peace. 'It's a start at least.' He thought to himself as he gestured with his head towards the tree that held his main weapons.

His gaze traveled back to her as she took a step into his little clearing though, attention no longer on her deadly weapon. Ebony hair and obsidian eyes provided a stark contrast to the pale skin revealed by his fire. Had the circumstances not been so suspect he may have found the combination attractive, but not currently. His mind was not focused on such things for now. Instead his mind was more so focused on her other features... Namely a set of ears and tails that reminded him of a canine but seemed strangely familiar... A confused look crossed his face as the female approached him, stopping about 3 feet away. He took the chance to try and take in her scent now that she was close... and his confusion turned to surprise. 'She has a wolf's scent.' He realized once she was so close and the scent of food no longer masked hers. He had not seen a wolf faunus in.... well since his childhood which was who knows how many years ago. 'Was she one of the ones I scented at the school?' He wondered, though could not confirm as those scents were always very faint. Not that it mattered if she was... he was more so surprised to actually see another one. He was the only wolf faunus he knew till now. "You're a wolf..." He would say surprisingly soft as surprise was very much shown on his face.

He mentally snapped himself out of his shock though as he remembered how close she was. As he looked down... 'Huh?' He blinked as his mind processed their height difference. He had to tilt his down more than he was used to just to see the wolf girl's face as he saw her eyes slowly rise up to look at his face as well. He had not expected her to be so short with how their interaction was going before... as it made slightly more sense as to why she wanted him to promise not to harm her. 'Tonight is just full of surprises.' He thought, as the first time he met a wolf in years it was one much much shorter than him and female. She would then greet him meekly with a hi and refused to meet his eyes completely. Feralis was confused. 'This is the same person who was spying on me?' He wondered, trying to mentally figure this out. The girl was leaving him very confused as she was breaking all expectations he had from their limited interaction... whether that was good or bad he had no clue. He cleared his mind of these pointless thoughts. They were way too distracting. Looking down still to the girl would speak. "Hi. Now that i'm no longer talking to a bush, mind telling me who you are and why you were there in the first place?" He would say calmly now, no longer seeing her as quite the threat she seemed to be when behind the bushes. He even seemed slightly relaxed now, surprising even to himself. While he wasn't fully certain why, he had a feeling it was because she was a wolf as well. Like Princess who confused, he wasn't really sure how to react to this equally confusing girl. Though rather than it being the negative way with Princess, he still wasn't sure which way it was leaning towards the wolf girl. His eyes would move from her to the meat still over the fire then back to her again. "Since you are here anyway, feel free to some meat, I have enough to spare for now. And in case it makes this go faster, my name is Feralis." He would add, gesturing to the meat cooking over the fire before speaking completely bluntly by saying his name. He didn't desire a repeat of the back and forth promising, preferring to have this go as straight to the point as possible. If it meant giving his name first, he would be fine with it. The fact he even gave his name though, along with offering food, was his own peace offering to the girl as he no longer thought this would devolve to a fight. Which he wasn't sure if he was disappointed thinking that.

Ylva was quiet throughout the whole thing, from the showing of putting down Ulv Lofte, which made her internally sigh to standing before the wolf faunus. Her obsidian gaze did not meet his eyes long as she did not wish to challenge him. Nor did she want to check out anymore of his good physique, so she would stare off to the side. Instead her thoughts turned to other things. "It is good that there are other wolfs still around," The young wolf thought, as many she knew were mainly back home.

The scent of his wolf features tickled her nose, but it was more than that...he she couldn't quite understand why though, so instead, she would turn her gaze back to him calmly as he spoke. She frowned slightly as he stated the obvious.
"Are we that uncommon," she thought, confusion in her expression as she tilted her head slightly like a young pup might. He then seemed to be confused again...Ah, because she was so petite which made her fidget a bit. In truth, she was still growing, but still, she was smaller than others in her tribe; a fact she almost resented but never let it deter her in battles.

Her gaze, when it did meet his, never stayed on his for long, but as he spoke once more, she almost smiled, appreciating his speech, for getting straight to the point. Feeling a bit more at ease, she would smile slightly.
"I'm Ylva. I smelt fire, so I came to investigate," Ylva replied honestly she then looked back towards the direction of her camp. "Peace is probably the best way to go," she thought to herself. "Thank you, Feralis," Ylva replied, testing the name on her tongue before speaking up."I have some rabbit. If you'd like, we could share," She offered. Pleased he would agree, she would bow slightly before leaving to retrieve said rabbit. Leaving her weapon where it lay as she did so, she would return shortly with both rabbits and offer him one before taking a seat across from his fire.

Feralis would notice the girl smile slightly as he wondered how their initial encounter turned to this. The last possibility in his mind in all honesty was this one. But then, unlike how most others thought of him, he didn't necessarily start fights for no reason. Yes, he would do it for fun. And yes, it was easy to get him heated enough to get into one. But in general, if you didn't mess with him he would not mess with you. And if you weren't sensitive enough that his bluntness would offend you, it would be easy to avoid it. But then again... He seldom did favors for himself in that regard as well. As all interactions in the school thus far had led to this. Which made him curious why this one turned out differently when it started out the worst, but he mentally pushed the thought from his mind. He could think later when he was bored. Right now it seemed he had something to do... even if the original purpose of his outing was to be by himself in nature. She would answer his questions easily enough this time. To which he was glad for. He never understood why some people couldn't be blunt and simple with their answers. This person, if difficult, at least seemed to get that much now. She called herself Ylva, and said she was drawn here by the smell of fire. Which, thinking on it a little more than before now that he was relaxed, he figured it was probably natural curiosity. As if someone else had started a fire he probably would have tried checking in on who they were... depending on his mood, and how often he saw that fire. Not that this realization would've changed how he reacted to her at all.

As she finished speaking, she would look off into the forest again. Where she was looking at, Feralis had absolutely no clue. Nor did he care too much given he no longer saw her as an immediate threat, nor suspecting ambush, he didn't feel the need to ask or worry. He didn't know what type of person she was, especially to be this deep in the woods, so a million different things could be going on in her mind. 'Or she could just be looking at the forest.' He added in his mind. Sometimes it was best not to think too deeply on things, and he was of that opinion currently. After he had offered her meat, she had said thank you. Even going so far as to include his name in it, which wasn't necessary, but he figured it was for politeness or some other thing. Not to much the real reason of her trying to make sure she pronounced it right. He was not exactly the best judge of character or reading others beyond primal instinct. Or if it was the mentality of beasts; that was the type he could read very well. She would offer rabbit to him then, as he paused for a moment and looked at his own meat. While he had more than enough deer meat... he was never one to shy away from variety. Looking back to her he would nod his head. "Sure, I was planning on catching rabbit one of these days but I wouldn't mind having a taste of it early. It's been a while." He would respond simply and truthfully, as he did intend to hunt some again to make sure his hunting skills didn't wither away. He was also eager to try it again after having too much of civilized food. They added way too many things that ruined the natural taste when making food, even meat.

She would bow after he responded and leave his little camp, even leaving her weapons there. While her back was turned, Feralis cocked his head a little confused. 'Why'd she go and leave this here?' He silently wondered to himself, but made no move towards her gear. It wasn't even so much his mind seeing it as a gesture of trust that she would leave her weapons; more why she would risk travel at night without them. If it were him, he would reason it as not needing weapons to survive due to his own skills. Which, in his mind, made him wonder if she was similarly confident or naive. He honestly wasn't sure which, but with her small size and build he at least knew if it were the former she would not deal with things as he would. Maybe... 'She is a wolf...' He added to himself. While it may be biased, he knew the innate ability of wolves. Even faunus ones counted in his mind. Which was the only reason his mind didn't settle on her being in over her head and instead he thought she knew how to fend for herself. Not knowing when she would be back, Feralis would go by the fire and continue preparing what he had there already. Even going to further preserve the extras. Though, he was not kept waiting very long for her return. She had come back with a pair of rabbits, and kept her word as she offered one to him. "Thank you... Ylva." He would say, testing out her name himself. It was not a type he was used to saying, not that he truly ever called anyone by their actual name most times. Save Maria at least. But he had yet to come up with a nickname for this girl yet. He would eventually though, as he always did. It was not something he did to disregard a person's name; it was more so he preferred calling people by what he thought represented them, more than a given name.

Seeing her take a seat across the fire, he finished tending to his deer meat and sat down cross legged before carefully taking a savage bite out of the rabbit. He closed his eyes with a slight smile as he chewed and swallowed the meat. It had been far too long since he had such a good tasting meal and fresh meat. After a moment, he would open his eyes and then look towards the she-wolf calmly. Not afraid if their eyes met or not; but also not actively seeking hers out. He would study her as he did, trying to gouge more of her but unable to for now. So he would, as usual, go straight to the point. "What brought you so far into the forest and where are you from, Ylva rabbit-catcher? There are not many wolf faunus around here; at least you are the first I have seen in many moons, and I have lived by this forest for many years." Feralis would ask rather bluntly, if in a more casual tone. Though he did flash a toothy smile when he gave her the title of rabbit catcher, genuinely curious of how she would react. It would be his temporary nickname for her, as he sitll knew very little of her. He was now curious as his belly was being sated with food. The time for action and suspicion had long since left, so all that was left was talk and thoughts. He thought of perhaps mentioning his own purpose again, but decided not to for now. If she were curious she was free to ask it of him. If not then he saw no need to mention his own reasons. Or, perhaps, he would merely wait for her to answer before saying his own in fairness. He truly was not sure yet.

Having introduced herself and her reasons for approaching him, she figured it was a bit rude, if understandable. But not being used to the forests yet, she had not known, and is still learning, what is a threat and what is not. She had grown comfortable with the other wolf faunus though, so she would be open for the most part. No need to hide, at least no need to fear for now. "Keep your guard on alert," The young wolf's conscience chastised her, but she would respect it.

Sylvie seemed pleased as he would take her up on her offer of rabbit, mentioning that he was planning on hunting for some later. She concluded that their preference for meat was one of the most common for a wolf or other carnivorous creature. But it would be especially present in the primary faunus; as wolves were one of. This thought in mind as she left to fetch it made her almost giddy. Grabbing the rabbit, she took a small scouting of the perimeter of her campsite before warming it up over the fire. She would then smile and return to Feralis' site and hold out the seasoned rabbit to him. Though she would not consider him a friend yet, she would conclude that he would be a pleasant companion. No matter how long or short it may be.

Upon returning and after leaving her weapon, she would sit across from his person and by his fire.
"Most welcome," Ylva replied. Feeling at ease, her tail began to wag slowly as obsidian eyes observed his judgement of her cooking; savagery not bothering her one bit. She enjoyed her seasonings, as they would flavor the rabbit nicely. Smiling slightly, she would bite into her own rabbit happily. "He is interesting for sure," she thought, amusedly, to herself. As their eyes met, she would keep his gaze a bit longer, though still look away after a couple of seconds; still not wishing to challenge him.

The silence was pleasant enough, so when he spoke up, her ears perked and tail wagged slightly. Though he had waited until she had a big piece of meat in her mouth. Shrugging slightly, she would cover her mouth and swallow most of it before speaking. Smiling slightly, amused by the little pet name.
"A need to be away from the modern world. I'm still not used to it," Ylva replied honestly and looked to him curiously before answering his next question; as she found them to be quite understandable. His comment of the uncommonness of a wolf faunus visibly surprised her, but it confirmed what she wanted to know."So, we aren't that normal here. In all my springs in Vacuo, we have always been plentiful in my tribe," She said, slightly in disbelief as her ears laid back slightly. Being used to being surrounded by other wolves, she was not aware just how uncommon they were. Her expression was momentarily saddened before curiosity took over her and looked to Feralis calmly, but still the question of why they were so few here spoke in her dark eyes.

He saw her slight smile and noticed that her gaze remained with his longer than before, but she still looked away after a couple seconds. He wondered why she could not maintain eye lock, but for now would not press it. He had other questions he was much more curious of, though realized his timing was a bit off as he realized she still had a sizable portion in her maw. While also noting her ears perk and her tail wag slightly. It was a strange, but for some reason it felt... relaxing to see that? He did not know why, but if he had to take a guess it may be that it was a wolf's reaction and non verbal language. He was used to doing it himself but not seeing it in others after his isolation from wolf faunus, one that was not by choice. Though he still knew little about the girl, she was a wolf faunus which for now was enough for him to trust her. It may be a weakness on his end, but he trusted actual wolves without question from his time with his pack. So seeing another with such features that was like himself, that trust subconsciously transferred to her for now. Until she did something that would make him think otherwise. He tilted his head slightly as she covered her mouth to swallow, wondering why she would bother with covering her mouth. 'Maybe I should have waited to finish her bite before asking.' He thought to himself. He was surprised to see her forego continual chewing and swallow most of it just to answer him. While he had no qualms with such things, he knew others would wait till they were thoroughly finished.

He smiled around the time as she did, though not for the same reason as her. It was due to her answer of why she was in the forest. 'So she is like me?' He wondered to himself. He didn't know if she preferred nature to the modern world, but at least that she needed a break from it too like he did. He noticed the curious look in her eyes, likely wondering why he was here. He was thinking if he should answer since she did not ask directly, but as he thought of it she began to respond to his other question. Though before she responded he saw genuine surprise on her. To what, he was unsure, but he was soon to find out. She seemed to not be aware of how few of them there were here, and from what she said she seemed to be from Vacuo. 'There are wolves in that desert?' He pondered to himself, the concept seeing foreign. He was a wolf of the forest and only that; he did not know of wolves elsewhere or even the possibility they could live elsewhere. This made him wonder where else wolves existed, though he had to remind himself she was not a full wolf like him. As far as he knew. 'She could just be referring to a person tribe.' He silently thought.

He saw that her ears had slightly laid back as he seemed to be in disbelief. As he was in disbelief that there was a full on tribe of them elsewhere. In all his years, he had only known of his parents and now Ylva as wolf faunus. He knew no others. He saw her expression grow saddened for a moment, as he wondered why, before it changed to curiosity as she looked to him. 'Does she think I know?' He questioned internally. He wasn't sure why she had a sad expression earlier, but she seemed to prefer asking him questions with her eyes. Which likely meant the curious look from earlier was also a question she wanted answered. He sighed softly, and set what was left of his rabbit to the side for a moment as he looked to her; ears up and tail still. "As far as I know, no. I'm the only wolf faunus I know of in this forest now. And before then, it was only my parents. You are the first I have come across in all my moons of life." He would say bluntly, with a slight twinge of sadness to his tone at the mention of them. While he was perfectly content living with his pack, he still missed his original family. He would shake his head though, shaking away such thoughts from his mind as he moved to lay on his back with arms behind his head as he gazed up at the sky. Taking a moment of silence to think before speaking again. "I came out here to be home for a bit. I dislike civilization, and prefer living in nature. Have been for a long time now. The beasts out here are preferable to those who live in cities." He would say, voice almost a bit distant as if he was lost in thought as his eyes stared at the sky. While part of his reason was to hone his hunting and survival skills, the main reason he hadn't even realized was that he just wanted to be away for a bit and be in his home of the forest.

He would slowly snap out of his focus from the night sky and moon despite its call to him, turning his head towards his current companion. His tail would wag slowly against the ground as he did. Curiosity crossing his face as well. "I've never been to Vacuo. What is it like there?" He would ask, genuinely curious. He had only known Vale, Beacon, and this forest his entire life. He had never been elsewhere. Part of him was also curious about how tribe life was, to be with other wolf faunus as he was guessing. He had been truthful in saying that before her, the only others he had known were his parents. He was a tribeless wolf in that sense, even if he had his current pack of wolves. While he knew how to act with other wolves, he knew nothing of how to interact with other wolf faunus since they were the strange blend between person and beast. If he thought of her as a full wolf, he may have brought her to his pack. Or he may have run her out for being near their territory. If he thought of her as a full person, he would've done his best to avoid her and probably have tried to convince her to leave the forest. But the hybrid of inbetween... left him confused on how to act. So he was going just off of whatever he felt at that moment, which for now was just questioning as he felt himself warming up to her despite their introduction to one another.

Ylva carefully read the wolf faunus before her and listened to her companion's words as he answered her questions. To hear that she was the only one he had seen since his parents made her a little sad if not surprised that there were so few of them in this kingdom. Her eyes looked to him with sympathy and a deep understanding of his loss. "So he had lost as well. A kindred soul," The young wolf thought as she looked to him. as much as she wanted to comfort him, she also was still being cautious right now.

Home. She looked around at the peaceful forest that was blanketed with the dark. It really could be home, couldn't it? She had hoped to make it her sanctuary when she was not with her team.
"I see. Similar to me...not home, but close in a way," Ylva said with a kind smile. As he looked to the skies, she would take in the peaceful aura he seemed to exude, making his words ever more truth. "I have never met a lone wolf...how interesting. How lonely," she thought absently.

As his focus returned to her, she averted her obsidian gaze, tail wagging lightly. A smile crossing her lips as he asked about Vacuo, what it was like. After all, it was where her tribe was...it was home.
"Vacuo itself is a hot and dry desert, where faunus and humans alike respect one another for being able to survive. Our tribe, it was created during the Great War to protect water and dust resources at the time...been together ever since," She replied thoughtfully. "Before I was born, the elders of my tribe had moved from being above ground to moving through the caves in the deserts of Vacuo. I remember moving from one watering cave to many. Except on market day, when the pups are old enough, they are brought with to help the market traders. You see, we do and make our own things, then we sale some for supplies. Other than that day, we never really interact with the outside world," Ylva said with a sparkle in her eyes at remembering her home then frowned slightly.

"We grow everything using the waters we find, when ready, we move to another water place. The dust we'd find, we would leave it alone on the cave walls." Ylva was quiet for a bit as she thought before giggling softly at a memory from the past before looking to him with a kind smile. "Ah, but when you went outside, and it's dark, the miles of and miles of sand is bathed in moonlight, and the clear skies become a sea of stars with no end in sight. It's quite different from the forest," She looked to the sky then, as if in thought.
