H I S T O R Y

        BACKGROUND
Within the Rhopalocera tribe, Elisedd (a gentle and gifted jewelry crafter) and Eve (a strong and determined guard of the eastern territory within the promised lands) would embark on a very different love story (with many attempts on the warrior’s part). By finally showing her softer side to him, as she was raised as a warrior and usually took what she wanted; rather than her usually hard and dominating exterior. Displaying there's more depth to her that she wouldn't share to others. But every time before then, he denied each of her approaches. When he would try to get her to put her walls down, she refused. Many a youthful year passed that way until she could finally open up to him. Finally resulting in their coupling as a mated pair.

A year after their coupling, they would be granted a son born in the cool autumn morning. The couple were overjoyed to have their child be a strong and swift learner. Having children did not deter Eve from her duties to the tribe though and as soon as her first born was done suckling halfway into his first year, she was back to the border. A year after their first child, the pairing would be happily gifted one autumn celebration with another son. Although she loved her children, Eve feared she would never have a daughter (an heiress to pass on their matriarchal traditions down to). With this fear in mind, she was back to her duties by seven months after leave.

Three springs later, the couple would be blessed with twin girls! Diana was born just a few seconds after her twin on a warm spring night and raised within the sanctuary of the butterfly tribe; a secluded and lush place they called the Promised Land. Away from the alien and modern comforts that most of Remnant had learned to create, she took comfort in the untamed and natural beauty that was their home. Since they were very young, the little butterfly faunus had been told stories of the evils outside of their secured walls and the glory they would experience in becoming a warrior, like her elder sisters; unlike her brothers and father who were docile and took care of many things from the home and in the writings. It was a rather peaceful upbringing. Though it was not without troubles.

The earliest memory for the butterfly faunus was learning to fly at the age of three after her father showed them by jumping off one of the cliffs in the village. She was scared but did it after her twin jumped off without fear. She learned quickly that fear could be turned into excitement that day and thrived to do more exciting things in the future. Unlike her other sisters though, growing up she did not have the same desire to learn to fight; taking a leaf from her pacifistic cousin’s book in many respects. When she was not training though, she would spend much of her time with her father; an open-minded and thoughtful male butterfly that had given her a strange love for discovery and even philosophy.

Unlike her more physical sister warriors, she preferred to rely on her mind and more often than not, her optimism. An honorable young woman, Diana fought as such and could not really think of ways to "play dirty" in training, even if she had a feeling that her opponents would not carry such values (when the time came to fight off Moths). While growing up, Diana never really understood even with all the horror stories and legends of why the Moths chose to be their enemies and (as naive as some might think it) hopes someday to find peace within the coming generations.

Many a time she had been called a fool for such things as such hopes for peace had led her to venturing beyond the wall. She had first adventured outside without supervision when she had been but six years old. Curious and unafraid, the young butterfly had gotten herself stuck in bushel thorns at the wing. Rather than struggle and get herself caught, she kept quiet and still. This paid off as she would see her first band of moth faunus beyond the green that veiled her. They looked no different than them, she thought, except for a few things...and savage behavior. She dared not call out though for fear of being taken away and eaten (as were some stories by silly children). As evening fell upon the wilds around her, she would awaken to her wings being freed with minimal scarring (as the wind had gently loosened them). The bright-winged butterfly faunus swiftly flew home after that.

At the age of seven, her family would be granted the gift of another daughter to celebrate. A colorful and smiling babe was Chrysanthi. Overjoyed, Diana would bring her baby sister a flower that embodied her sister’s name. Her youngest brother, and the second eldest of the children, would take an apprenticeship with their uncle and alongside their cousin’s friend that year as well, while her eldest brother had taken to crafting jewelry with their father. It was also at this age that he would gift the two eldest daughters with family rings that were passed down through the generations; crafted by his great-grandfather for their great-grandmothers. It was this year that she also was given her first weapons.

Into her eighth spring, she had grown closer to her father, even more than the sons he loved. She and her eldest brother would always be up for a story or lesson not quite the same as the one their Elders would teach them. One day, when she was not training, her father coaxed her to walk with him down a path that seemed not-so-used as the others in their lands. Leading her beyond the walls and crawling through a hole behind a bush. Excited, the curious butterfly never questioned where they were going, even if she really wanted to. Encompassed by abnormally tall berry bushes lay a clearing of about five feet in circumference. What caught the attention of her purple eyes though was a stone altar at the furthest end from where they stood at the opening. Told to leave her weapon at the clearing’s opening, she nodded and followed him in after picking a few of the blue and black berries. There he told her of the stories passed down from his own grandparents, about a time before the split; very few stood now, but long ago, altars like this stood to place offerings to the forest in hopes of good harvest and prosperity for the tribe. A long-forgotten tradition that he hoped to instill in her. And he did; they would come every few weeks outside until she eventually came alone.

A more curious and inquisitive child in her tenth year, she would actually try and help her mother alongside her father in helping with the midwifery for their sixth child (her second younger sibling). The family was gifted a fourth daughter, bringing tears of joy to the household. Diana’s and Mel’s years of training was not just for fun, they knew that as the females of the tribe they too would be chosen by their Elders to guard and watch over the borders. Seeds of doubt were planted in the young butterfly’s mind though as philosophy and other things took her attention, rather than her training alone. She was forced to take it seriously though as Mel became ever rougher with her though. Despite the coarser treatment, she would take it as a challenge and rise to the occasion when needed.

Her eleventh year proved to be eventful as she was caught outside the wall for the first time on her own. As one morning while her father could not join her, the youthful butterfly girl, having no patience, decided to crawl out. Having thought she heard a noise she had strained her nearsighted eyes to try and see. Try as she might, she was surprised to find her vision changing...she saw it! A moth girl, not much older than herself, had also caught sight of her from a few yards away. Shocked, she then found herself suddenly blinded and a sharp sting at her left bicep. An arrow?! It had only grazed her, but she wasted no time as she quickly left back behind the bush she came from. Even as her vision came back, she never saw the girl again. Diana’s semblance had awakened, earning her trainee scout duties.

At the age of twelve, Diana wished her fellow warrior sister and cousin, Koryn, good luck in her trial to becoming one of the tribeswomen. It was tradition that to truly become one of the tribes, one must survive a day out in the wilds...of course the Elders would be hiding in order to intervene should one fail; but for the most part you had none but yourself to survive. It was a dream to receive the insignia, and a hope to be joined to the tribe. She just prayed her cousin survived it. That night, they would honor the right of passage ceremony and the branding of their new tribal members. That same year, she would encounter a small moth boy while beyond the promised land’s borders; he couldn’t have been more than six or so, she thought. In caution, she kept her distance, but held out the berries she had plucked. Seeming innocent, he was suspicious of her, so as to gain his trust she ate one first then set them on a boulder between them. Her distraction had only been so long before she would fly into a tunnel of thorns as protection. It did not work for long as she waited for them, two had followed after her with difficulty, giving the butterfly time to start a fire with a spark from her sword and a stone against the bush she hid in. Caught in the cave of thorns, the moths and butterfly would soon be curtained in flames as she looked for a way out. Unable to fly through the flames, she would crawl through a small exit tunnel. Once freed, she spread her wings and flew away trying to ignore the screams behind her, sight blurred as she flitted home.

Her thirteenth year was one of sadness and determination as Mel and Diana would experience their first attempts at becoming one with the tribe. Being the patient one of the twins, Diana agreed that Melpomene could go their birth week and Diana would go the next time. Of course, the eldest twin would make it a day and a half before returning to the tribe as one of them. A few months later, the fertile lands would experience tragedy when Moth raiders and Grimm attempted to infiltrate turned into a fight along the western border. They had been asleep when they heard a noise, Diana rushed downstairs with her sword to find her sister in the throws of conflict with a moth, their father alongside her. Hearing a scream, she saw a young male moth, about her age trying to quiet her younger sisters in a brutish fashion and so engaged him so her sisters could run. While in the midst of battle, a scream of agony fell on her ears, but she could not look, not while she was protecting the little ones. Eventually though, the moths did retreat...Tired and panicked, she turned to the horror that was her sister and father on the ground. Weeping, the young butterfly checked on her sister; Mel was knocked out but fine. Heartbreak pierced her to the soul as her father’s blood and dust painted her hands that evening. The next morning was sorrowful as the dust of the fallen would be placed in a pyre.

In her mourning, she would avoid training and instead find comfort in the altar clearing that her father took her to. Agreeing to the right of passage to truly be one of the tribeswomen, and honor her father, Diana would spend the day in the forest during the autumn equinox. It would be colder at night than usual and the Grimm, she had no doubt would be more active. In her sorrow, she had attracted a pairing of Grimm, and try as she might...the Elders would intervene. But unlike their mother, who took the slightly gruffer approach, her older brothers encouraged her to try again in the Spring.

Her fourteenth year, for the Spring Equinox, while her brothers looked after the little ones and her twin joined their mother at the Eastern border, Diana along with other tribal sisters were given the same task that reddened her cheeks with shame the year before. Before she would leave though, she snuck away to place special berries at the alter and give thanks to the lush lands that she called home. The young butterfly then headed to the front gates to be with the other participants. Determined not to fail this round; and also thought of her cousin that had tried and failed but never gave up. This thought gave her courage as she headed out, splitting from the other fairies so that she may find a place to be safe in the night. Having taken her lantern-staff and other weapons with her, it was all she was really allowed to keep her company. The staff she would find proved useful in misleading Moths to fall into a net trap she made earlier...though she would need a new one (again). While the night grew darker, the young butterfly slept peacefully in the cavern inside a rotting tree just big enough for the small girl to crawl into. The next morning, she would return to the front gates of her homeland and be adorned with their tribal insignia. Now legitimately a sister warrior among her sisters.

The peace of their fertile lands would still be interrupted as Grimm grew evermore persistent. It was unnerving to say the least and in order to find out what was truly going on, the Elders would send a few of their younger members (like Koryn and now Remi) into the outside world to attend the school known as Beacon in Vale. Though she had heard of it in recent rumors, she had never thought she would actually go. At least, until the Elders came to their home one morning of her sixteenth year. She had been the only female home due to a small cold. An order from the Elders for her to leave and join her cousins within a week’s time. An opportunity she could not deny.

One year has passed since she has visited/come to Beacon. It was interesting and eye-opening to say the least. Especially the culture shock that was living with all males that were able to fight. Adjustment was...rocky for lack of a better word; learning to live with one's cultural nemesis took time. Even now it is a begrudging arrangement that the butterfly wishes to understand and hopefully remedy; or maybe even truce. They still have three more years, so maybe a friendship could come about it?

Classes came and went without much major happenings other than some teams going on another mass mission where few lives were lost according to the reports she read with her teammates. She had no idea that events in her life would change so drastically. On the night would call the Transformation; so named for what happened. A night of battle in a warehouse by the docks, her curiosity almost getting herself and another person, a male named Apollo, killed. Though they survived, she would not get out unharmed. Once safe, she would arrive back at Beacon with maimed wings beyond repair. Rather than allow them to heal, she whispered to them before she'd blackout to remove them. Upon waking, and a couple weeks prior, she would try to adapt to the missing part of her and building new skills to not fall behind. Rather fall into the pit of despair, the petite young woman's determined to move past this and become a stronger person, wings or not...

She can, however, unfocus on the individuals and see all auras again at anytime. This ability she is able to share with three people of her choosing. This effect lasts 5 posts.

In returning from Fairy Sight, she would become dizzy for one post. It takes a 5 post cool down.

        *AURA COLOR ▬ Lavender
        *DESCRIPTION
▬ To help Diana to see better for just a while her semblance gives her a better sense of sight, able to see farther than most of her fellow tribesmen/women; making what she sees as clear as if it were 10-20 feet from her. As she grows stronger, she will be able to increase other senses as well as share them with those she chooses for a certain amount of time, although once she reaches the end of it, she is discombobulated for a bit.
*LEVEL 0 ▬ At level zero, Diana is able to increase her sight to be able to see up to 60 feet for 4 posts.
*LEVEL 1 ▬ At level one, she is able to increase her sense of vision by 90 feet. By this level, she is able to share these senses with one other person. This lasts for 4 posts.
*LEVEL 2 ▬ At level two, Diana's sight increases to 120 feet and able to see/identify the individual auras. This ability she is able to share with two people of her choosing. This effect lasts 5 posts.
*LEVEL 3 ▬ At third level, Diana's able to narrow her Fairy Sight in order to focus on up-to 2 individuals; when doing this she can't see any other aura, but she is able to track the chosen auras, like x-ray vision she sees these auras no matter what may be between her and them. She can, however, unfocus on the individuals and see all auras again at anytime. This ability she is able to share with three people of her choosing. This effect lasts 5 posts.
*DRAWBACKS ▬ Due to her senses being increased in such a way, she is temporarily discombobulated for a certain amount of time as her senses return to normal.
        - Lvl 0: She is temporarily blinded for 2 posts and requires a 4 post cool down.
        - Lvl 1: Diana and/or the other person are temporarily blinded for one post each (two posts if Diana decides to take both penalties) and requires a 4 post cool down.
        - Lvl 2: Along with being blinded for one post (or 2-3 posts if she chooses to take the penalties of her partners); takes a 5 post cool down.
        - Lvl 3: Diana is blinded and disoriented for one post (or 2-4 posts if she chooses to take the penalties of her partners). When in narrowed vision, other things in her outer vision are unfocused. In returning from Fairy Sight, she would become dizzy for one post. It takes a 5 post cool down.

Hi there, my name is Apathy and I'll be judging your profile today!
X Overall
XXX ○ Overall: The character overall is pretty well put together. A simple but interesting concept that perfectly fits the scouting role. Overall it seems well balanced without too much pushing one way or another. The only real curiosities I have are the following:
XXX ○ Long-range Combat Strength: Given her weakness is nearsightedness, I assume that this strength may falter when not using her semblance?
XXX ○ Semblance Level 3: Two points.
The first, to focus in on an aura she needs to have seen it before. It was probably indicated in the basic functionality of such an ability, but she has to have seen and be able to identify the aura before she can scout for it.
The second, do those she shares the sight with only see the specific aura she's scouting for? Or can they search for their own desired aura as well?
XXX ○ Drawbacks: A general curiosity; if she uses her semblance and only grants herself the sight, does she only have to endure the lesser recovery time since she didn't share the ability?

Get back to me on these few curiosities and we'll get Diana hammered away. Thank you so much for your patience, as well!

XXX ○ Long-range Combat Strength: Yes, it does falter when not using her semblance.
XXX ○ Point 1: "The first, to focus in on an aura she needs to have seen it before. It was probably indicated in the basic functionality of such an ability, but she has to have seen and be able to identify the aura before she can scout for it." Could you please clarify what you think it would take to detect and identify an aura?
XXX ○ Point 2: Do those she shares the sight with only see the specific aura she's scouting for? Or can they search for their own desired aura as well? Only the one she is scouting for.
XXXIf she uses her semblance and only grants herself the sight, She only has to endure the lesser recovery time since she didn't share the ability.

Overjoyed, Diana would bring her baby sister a flower that embodied her sister’s name. Encompassed by abnormally tall berry bushes lay a clearing of about five feet in circumference.

This does not mean she won't fight if no other option is presented. Curious and inquisitive, she tries to understand rather than jumping straight to a conclusion about a situation. When angered she is childish and pouty but recovers soon enough, becoming happy and playful once again. She's also kind of sarcastic and feisty if she doesn't like a person.

As she grows stronger, she will be able to increase other senses as well as share them with those she chooses for a certain amount of time; in particular, at later levels she would be able to seek one's aura. Although once she reaches the end of it, she is discombobulated for a bit.
*LEVEL 3 ▬ At third level, Diana's able to narrow her Fairy Sight in order to focus on up-to 2 individuals [their aura in particular]; when doing this she can't see any other aura, but she is able to track the chosen auras, like x-ray vision she sees these auras no matter what may be between her and them.
        - Lvl 3: She has had to have used level 2 to identify the aura before using level 3. Diana is blinded and disoriented for one post (or 2-4 posts if she chooses to take the penalties of her partners). When in narrowed vision, other things in her outer vision are unfocused. In returning from Fairy Sight, she would become dizzy for one post. It takes a 5 post cool down.
