“It’s a little spooky,” Chip said cautiously on the topic of coziness. He left out the part where he thought it wasn’t actually all that bad and would love to see how it was built, mostly because he was still almost too afraid to speak.
Her reassuring smiles and tone were helping, but...not by much. The petting was nice, though, and he started to relax just a little as she told him what she was.
He wasn’t quite to the point of purring when he felt something
very off in her touch, and his eyes shot wide open. “W-wait, no!” He squeaked, and tried wriggling away. “S-stop...” he wailed, but rather quickly stopped his thrashing as a wave of energy went through his very being, blasting away whatever he had been thinking of the situation.
His memories—limited though they were—suddenly felt clouded, distant. Why
was he afraid of this place so much? The woman, though intimidating, seemed to be friendly enough.
There was something...something...
Chip could not think of what the issue was, and so therefore relaxed.
Everything felt different, didn’t it? Or maybe it always felt this way...He couldn’t be sure. Either way, here he was.
“Th-thanks?” He replied, feeling more than a little disoriented. “Uhm...yes! I have lots of questions!”
He did not know much, but perhaps that wasn’t so bad: That meant he could find out! “Where are we, exactly?” He started. “Oh, and, how’d we
get here? Are there lots of people here? Other Mauvians? Where can I get some food? I’m hungry.”
He had possibly
thousands more questions, but even confused as he was, he knew he’d never get the answers if he simply inundated her with
all of them at once, so stopped there.
