After hours of shouting, crying and even singing, the expedition party finally hear movements below them. There is one voice that sounds particularly argumentative, but the rest are cheering and hollering. The team has no choice but to listen to the commotion beneath them for a few minutes, when finally the cages begin to jostle. The group begins to slowly be lowered down through the canopy, but none of them could have truly predicted what they'd see when they break through the leaves - a before unseen race of people, half humanoid and half horse. The team doesn't have much time to handle this new shock, however, as the pacing Centaurs are all covered in weapons and sinister smiles, their eyes tracking the cages as they finally hit the ground.
A crowd has formed in front of the still-locked cages, jeering at their captors. Finally, a voice breaks through the chaos --
"Enough." A serious-looking Centaur walks through the crowd, the warriors quickly moving apart for her. This Centaur walks with an air of authority, a large, shining pole-arm on her back. "My shaman claims you are more than beasts," she states, staring at the captives with a mix of intrigue and disgust, "but I say there is no proof. Animals are caught and slaughtered, submitting to their fate. I believe you will do the same... like the others before you."
Clare cried out from her cage, gripping the bars, resulting in mocking laughter from the crowd of Centaurs. Their leader stares at her for a few moments, before scoffing and turning back to the rest of the expedition team. "If you are so intelligent, so strong, now is the time to prove it. My warriors have trained since they were foals to hunt down creatures like you, and I do not believe you will be exceptions," she says in a matter-of-fact voice, resulting in a small cheer from the crowd of warriors. Behind the group of cages, a Centaur tugs on a string so thin it is nearly invisible. Some clicks come from the cage doors, and suddenly they are all swung open.
"Prove me wrong, prey. Run."
You can read more about the Centaur leader and her shaman in the Main RP Thread!
Your captors have finally been revealed - Centaurs! A race of half horse, half humanoid creatures who seem to want nothing more than your demise. The cages have been lowered from the tree tops and the doors have been opened; their group out-numbers yours ten to one, it's time to run! Each day you have a chance of getting further away but pick the wrong direction and you'll be captured once more. If you try to resist now or choose not to run - such as Clare has - you will be dragged away and thrown into a cage with the first expedition team.

At 11pm PST every day, the thread will be rolled over, and a prompt and three choices will be posted. Choose an option from those provided to escape to. tab - Some options may provide additional effects which either impede or help in escape, so choose carefully! In addition, the centaur hunters will be randomly assigned a option to pursue every rollover. If the centaurs go the same direction as any player characters, those characters are considered captured. Any player who misses a daily prompt will have their character captured. tab - As such, there is no word minimum requirement, but RP is highly encouraged! Captured players should return to the main thread. Forest Explorers get an advantage when escaping. They can ignore any text that says they would be captured. They may only do this ONCE. tab - Until their advantage is used up, they should use the form for Forest Explorers. A staff member will quote them if their advantage expires.

Character: Maarika Choice: B RP Response: Maarika lifted the pink bug she had managed to befriend up, and set it upon her hair, her eyes narrowing as she considered the situation. "A race against hunters. Well. I have nothing to lose, and everything to gain by trying." Her eyes raked the Centaurs, coldly. "But there are others of all of our kinds out there, who might seek you, and who might choose to bring bigger weapons, and more dangerous, should we fall." She turned, and then began to run, hoping her hoofed feet would help her in this battle of speed. Yes, they had four legs... But would their stamina hold up, in comparison?

Character: Raliegh Choice: C RP Response: Raliegh had spent his time in the cage mostly talking to himself, trying to ignore the others and find a way to escape. He looked to Jimbo for company, but tried his best to not get distracted by the conversations of others. He was more than surprised to see these creatures like beings. They seemed tough but also scared, they didn't understand the outside world. If they did they would never be holding all of them captive.
When he was released he tried his best to remember how he had gotten there, since he had spent quite a bit of time in the forest he tried his best to remember the patterns of the forest. The trees all seemed to look the same but he was pretty sure. At least he hoped this was where he found Jimbo if it was this HAD to be the way. "This has to be the right way right Jimbo?" He ran as the gryftoo on his shoulder let out a Murr.

Character: Cyan Choice: B RP Response: Who picked to go straight ahead, to take the most "obvious" path? It seemed to Cyan the logical thing for the centaurs to do when they so heavily outnumbered their group was to splinter into two to chase down the majority as a divide and conquer method, or to trap one group by cutting them off and slowly rounding up the rest.
Cyan had to take the chance that the obvious path would grant her the best chance for escape. That it was too obvious - that no fool would possibly be stupid enough to go straight.
The downside was that Cyan didn't know the land. Their captors did. What if North was in and of itself its own trap? Cyan just had to hope her cut was right on this one.
Gosh, when Cyan got back, if she got back, Marie and Lucius and her were going to have a long talk. And Cyan ... well. Therapy seemed like a great place to start. Maybe a sabbatical.

Character: Saiph Choice: A RP Response: Hunt? Prey? "What in the Nine?" Saiph felt disgusted by the idea that these creatures capable of speech and thought just like the rest of them would use them for food. It was hard not to retch at the thought.
Still, they outnumbered them greatly and the search party had nothing on them for protection. With no better option, Saiph turned and headed off in a direction. They didn't know if any of their fellows would follow or make their own path, all Saiph could hope was that they'd all make it out of this... somehow.

Character: Ligeia Choice: A RP Response: Right. Okay. Grrreat. The hybrid’s mind reeled with trying to process all this new information. Their captors, a previously unknown race, as far as she knew, centaur, we’re going to hunt them. Ligeia had tried to discern as much information as she could from her testing her bars and trying to see through the thick canopy that had bore them, but all of her squinting and fiddling hadn’t prepared her for this. Nothing could have really.
These people had probably withdrawn from the world, however long ago, for some valid reason or another, and they couldn’t have much frames of reference for all these seemingly strange and varied people tramping about their lands. Ligeia did NOT like the looks of those spears and bows; at least with nets and bolas, those typically weren’t fatal...
“We have families, friends, loved ones waiting for us. Please, consider what you’re doing, how many more lives you’ll be affecting. ”
Gods, she was suddenly stricken for want of seeing her twin sister again, the shop they shared. ‘Ianira,’ Ligeia swallowed hard at the thought. ’I will come home. I won’t leave you. Not like this. Not if I have anything to do or say about it!’ She shook her head, turned, and fled. West, she was going to go west. She just prayed her tendrils and the softly glowing orb that hung between her horns wouldn’t be her undoing.

Character: Latros Choice: C RP Response: Latros had relaxed some, after Lycos had settled down as well. They talked a bit, and Latros was able to get through to Lycos at least enough to make the waiting bearable. They were even starting to nod off when the cages jostled and started to lower, instantly waking them.
Their ears perked up as their captors came into view. "Gross," they thought, "too many limbs, bleh."
They tried to remain focused on the leader as he droned on about hunting and prey and death and other boring things. Latros had gotten the gist after about the first line, shifting into a crouch as they prepared to sprint away. They might be caught eventually, but all this cage business had them itching to exercise. Things would work out in the end anyway. Probably.
When the cage door sprung open, their legs fired them out, surprisingly agile for having such huge ears and tails. They quickly spotted their sibling, who of course had a similar idea, and the two zoomed off into the east cackling like madfolk. "EEEEH HE HE HE HE~!"

Character: Max Choice: C RP Response: Max was not going to waste his breath talking to these centaurs till he proved to them he was not just a stupid animal, he was an athletic hallowed imp and his kind were strong he had skills. Even though he had fallen to one of their traps he had gotten through a bunch of their traps before and he would do it again. This was not the race he was expecting, this race appeared to be very strong, so what did they have to fear? Why did they need so many traps and why were they hiding, looking like they could trample any race to him.

Character: Amity Choice: A RP Response:
Amity stared at the glade opened out in front of them, hesitant to peer back at their captives. This was no longer about finding the missing team — this was about survival, now, and if she looked back, Amity knew she was going to be too scared to move when the time came. After considering the options, and watching other members of her team take off in varying directions, Amity pivoted to her left and took off West, putting every ounce of energy she had into putting as much distance between herself and the centaurs as possible. She’d figure out a plan when she had breathing room to think, if they let them even get that far away…

Character: Coralynne Choice: A RP Response:The first of the group started off toward the east. Coralynne saw a handful head to the north and though she thought that might be the best was she second guessed herself and ran off towards the west. West was would keep the sun in her eyes as she ran. Think in a flash she though she might have a been chance of running if she could see where she was running to.
Darting though the forest Coralynne hoped she would be safe. She had never had to run much but running for your life was a totally different type of running. There was no real time to think only act. Good thing you are a clever kirin. her muse taking that moment to point out. Yes she was clever but she just needed some distance between she and the centaurs and then she could think of how to be clever and get away.

Character: Remiry Choice: B RP Response: Remiry didn't need to wait long after the tree had fallen on her and she had gotten caught. The centaurs soon found her and dragged her off, unfortunately having some kind of anti magic shielding or spells on them or something, so she had been unable to escape using her geist powers. And she could only wait in the cage until they decided to do anything. She would have stolen a key but she had been unable to reach anything and the lockpicks that she had brought with her couldn't be used on whatever type of locks that the centaurs had used.
She was ready to just die, and was honestly waiting for them to just kill them, but for some reason they talked themselves into just hunting them down. Really? As if that wouldn't be any sport after they starved them for so long.
But either way, when she was released, she headed North to see if she could climb into any trees or something. But she wouldn't be hiding from them. If they wanted to get a hunt from her, they weren't going to get it.
