You and a small group of others have chosen to explore the wildflower meadows. It's hard to regret the decision - the expanse of soft, bright flowers ahead of you are... irresistible. Further to the East you can see a soft sparkle, maybe off a surface of water? As you continue to gaze over the meadows and the thousands of flowers, its clear you have a long task ahead. Time to hunt for clues!
You may only participate in this thread if you signed up for the Wildflowers location.
The objective of this game is to explore the map and uncover clues regarding the disappearance of Dr. Horn's expedition.
To explore, move to a square adjacent to your current square. You may move up or down, or left or right, but NOT diagonally.
tab Example: If your current position is 3, you can only move to 2, 8 or 4.
You start at square 1, regardless of when you join the game.
You have one free exploration post per day. If you write 250 words with or since your last exploration post, you may explore again after you receive an update of your current location from the mule.
The mule will update three times throughout the day, quoting you with any discoveries you have made. When you are quoted you will be informed if you have not hit the word count minimum. At the end of the day, the mule will quote everyone with their current location, regardless of whether they have explored or not.
Only ever respond to a prompt that you have quoted for. If you suspect that you were missed for a prompt, please contact staff.
In each exploration post, please clearly note what squares you are moving to and from. Your RP response will be to the prompt you are given for your new square.

If a trinket or familiar is posted in your prompt, you may claim it! You may only claim each trinket or familiar once.
You may only RP with others who either share your current square or are adjacent to it.

This thread closes on February 15th at 11pm EST. The amount of clues found as a team will affect the meta.

Current Square: 1 to 6
Response: Finally, the carriage had come to a halt. Coralynn was grateful to be getting off and have some fresh air. She was also very desperate to stretch her arms and legs out the cramping was almost unbearable. Filling of the carriage with all the others, her level of excitement to begin the search was amped. As she reaches the carriage door, she blinks into the light momently blinded by the change. Once her eyes adjust to the sunshine, she sees a wonderful meadow of soft yellow wildflowers. The air smelled of sweet honey flowers and one could say the ground was covered in honey looking at the blanket of yellow across the ground. “Its breath taking”, Coralynne says out loud to no one in particular.
Taking a big deep breath in Coralynne remembers the really reason she had come to the lost lands to begin with. Stay focused Coralynne we must find clues to where Dr. Horn's expedition had disappeared to. This was no easy task just standing where she was the ground was almost impossible to see but she had to help. “Ok here we go self”, she said to her self again. Stop talking to yourself, her muse said as she shook her head and moved forward into the first location she wanted to search for clues. Pushing through the flowers in grid like manner, Coralynne was careful and meticulous in her efforts to find any signs left behind. Starting at the tops of the flowers and working down to the soft earth at the base of the flowers and repeating this act in the area she was searching.

Maarika emerged from the coach and looked around, her large eyes taking in every detail of this vast expanse of flowers. She sighed softly, to herself, wishing she had a chance to properly sit down and sketch some of these flowers. It was very rare that she got the time to come to Above to visit... Running a business was a, well, busy job. She had barely managed to arrange to have her custom pieces completed in time, and to have a friend watch the shop for her while she was gone. She was grateful she had a friend she could trust to do that, at least. But it meant that while she wanted the chance to sit and sketch, she did not... She had signed up for a job.
Instead, she began to explore, pulling out her camera and taking photos of the plants that caught her eyes. Some of these flowers would make AMAZING inspirations for necklaces, bracelets, earrings and even jeweled tiaras that would hold her enchantments. She hoped that, even if this group were not the ones to find their objective, she would find a LOT of wonderful flowers and other items of inspiration to use in the future, once she got home.
She moved in a vaguely easterly direction, eyes scanning the ground, the skyline... Anything that could provide inspiration OR information about the person they were seeking. Honestly, she thought her desire to find inspiration might make her a very effective searcher... She was already hunting for small details, after all!

Response: Sierra shaded her eyes to look off to the horizon. There appeared to be a potential for water that direction, which was good to know for later….but that didn’t interest her. Not when there were so many flowers about! “Oh my goodness! Will you look at all these lovely flowers! So much to explore, to see to do! And we need to get down to the business of finding the good professor who is missing. “ Saying that she turned to Professor Claire Honeymint.” Well I do believe that this is where we turn to you for a bit of good old fashioned information. I confess I was in the last carriage so I didn’t get a chance to ask anything about the good man missing.” She looked sheepish. Mainly because she was trying to stick to her good homegrown girl act and not start dragging details out of the Professor. “I mean, if he came all this way he must have had some idear of what he was after….” SHe paused in thought for a moment” Like for me Im most likely to head towards plants because that is what interests me most. While others might look for cities, or bodies of water, or….well you get the idea…..” She trailed off loosely as her gaze was drawn to a particular flower a little ways away. It was a lovely color and the way the sun hit it was facniating…..she stepped away to take a closer look at it but made sure to stay in sight of the group and near enough to the Professor to hear her replies.

Response: Cyan darted down the stairs of the carriage, not waiting for the enchanted carriage to lower itself for disembarking. It was time to put the more playful side away and to get to work, Cyan's entire disposition shifting as her glowing vibrant features suddenly became more razor focused and thin-lipped. It was all business from here on out.
Cyan had been assigned to investigate the wildflowers. If Cyan had been there for pleasure, it would have been a breathtaking sight. It was like a vast sea of multi-colored flowers. If Cyan didn't know any better, she would have guessed a painter God or Goddess had come along and splattered their paintbrush across the fields. But Cyan wasn't religious. The Nine held no real weight with her. Cyan had seen too much s**t in her lifetime to believe higher powers truly existed.
Giving a shake of her head, Cyan stepped forward. Time was running out. The trail often went cold after forty-eight hours, and it had been about a week since they left. The group would need to work hard to find any hints of where their target -- er, no -- victim? No, no. Aw, ******** it. To find the dude.
Cyan didn't wait for the others, heading to the east of the wildflowers. She cast a glance over her shoulder, waving a fluffy hand at the others, although when she spoke her voice was pointed towards a certain flowery shade hybrid who fit into the scene around them all too perfectly.
"Don't feel obligated to follow me, Clare! We can always meet up again later! There's work to do now."

Alice waited for most of the group to get off the bus before getting off herself. The sight was rather impressive. She held her shoulder bag close to her side. With new species of flowers she wondered what that would mean for practices like potion making or alchemy. She had always been fascinated with the chemical properties of things but her father would soon her follow in his foot steps than get a proper education. She noticed as many of the passengers headed off the right so she decided to go forward, farther into the field to break away. Picking a few of these flowers couldn't hurt and who knows what they could be used for. If nothing else they were simply just very pretty. If she happened to find some clues about this Doctor as well then all the better.

Prompt for Square 2
Beautiful, brightly coloured flowers cover the ground to the horizon. You could get lost in that view, if only you weren't interrupted by soft pitter-patters. Playing in a patch of yellow flowers are a family of flitterats, some chasing one another while others snuggle up to rest. It is truly an adorable scene, only made cuter when one of the flitterats approaches you and spins in circles before pointing its nose forward. It wants to adventure with you!

The flowers started scattered, but now you're walking on a carpet of wildflowers. They look as though they'd be beautifully soft underfoot and come in every colour of the rainbow.

Response: The sound of squeaking made Cyan's ears perk, the hybrid whirling around towards the noise only to find a honey and cream coloured flitter rat enthusiastically burst forth from the yellow patch of flowers. The creature spun itself around and circles before pointing its nose almost intentionally towards something. It seemed eager to travel with Cyan, for whatever peculiar reason. How wild was this thing, exactly? Its behaviour seemed pretty tame for a creature out in the fields. The flitterat had almost approached Cyan with no concern for its life and survival. What if Cyan had been predatory? Her tusks certainly gave her the illusion of being quite ferocious when angered, but luckily for the both of them Cyan was far from pissed off. All the same, Cyan couldn't help but wonder if this flitterat's behavior was a clue in and of itself.
Cyan leaned down and scooped the familiar into her arms and continued down the path eastward. The flitterat seemed to be interested in going the same way as Cyan did, and the bounty hunter had resolved to leave no stone unturned.
"Well, I didn't exactly intend on coming home with a pet," said Cyan as she marched along the outskirts of the flowers. "If you decide to stick with me I won't shoo you away, but you gotta know my kids are gonna go crazy for you. And my fiance and girlfriend are probably going to question me bringing a random wild familiar home. You know that, right?"
The flitterat blinked its beady little eyes up at Cyan. The hybrid couldn't help but to smile down, the creature's watery honey coloured eyes just reminded her of Honeymint. Clare certainly knew how to make a lasting impression.
"Anyways ... " Cyan scratched at her brow with her claws. "If you've got any hints, squeak up and lemme know. I could use all the help I can get."

Since Kerrick appeared to have slept most of the way in the carriage he did not really get the chance to get to know the others who were in the carriage with him. It wasn't that he was tired he just did not feel the need to engage them in conversation as of yet. Instead he eavesdropped on all the conversations going on around him, committing to memory who said what. He knew who was sitting where and what they looked like, found out some names this way but more importantly found out other things as well. He could not help a smirk as he exited the carriage and looked around to see where he was.
He had a bounce to his step, he knew the objective was to find clues to the disappearance of Dr Horn's Expedition. No one knew why and it was up to his group to find out.
Turning about in a circle he decided the best course of action was to start at the beginning and follow the majority of the group. He could always part ways if he chose and this way he could size them up for his special skills and who would be easy pickings.
One of his group caught his eye immediately but of course they went in the opposite direction, no matter they would meet up eventually and he would have his chance to get to know them better. ~smirks evilly~
He decided to start exploring the ground right in front of him and move directly above him in a straight line to the next area. He was looking as if he was out "casing" so intent on what he was doing he did not see the group wander farther away from him.

Response: Coralynne stood up for the bent over position she had been in since she started her search. *Pop Pop Pop* her back gave a loud crack as she stood up. Stretching to the left and right the tight muscle protested. She really needed to work out more, or maybe you could start some yoga, her muse chimed in.
Looking around the meadow she sees that only one person had followed in her direction. The person that had followed was a beautifully dressed hybrid. Against the yellow wildflowers the Hybrids blue dress and hair shown like a beckon. The hybrid was gorgeous truly. Momentarily mesmerized by her beauty, Coralynne realized she was staring in a most unbecoming way. Shacking her head to clear her thoughts, Coralynne turned away form the hybrid hoping she hadn’t been caught staring so rudely.
Ok its time to move to the next section, her muse sighed. Pushing forward, Coralynne moving farther form the larger group. The sun was starting to warm the meadow and fill the air with a moist earthy and flowery smells. Stopping in the new section of flowers Coralynne wondered what the best strategy for would be for searching. She really was just winging it. “Maybe if I zig and zag in a grid formation, I’ll spot a clue”, she said out loud as if someone would agree with the plan. Your talking to yourself again, her muse said with a big roll of her eyes. Ignoring herself she started in a new patch continuing with same pattern she had in the pervious patch.

Latros hopped off the roof of the carriage in what might have been a graceful form, if not for their large ears and three tails messing up their appearance. Dusting themselves off, they looked around a bit while they waited for their twin to join them, and then set off along with one of the groups. Only two ways to go so far!
Looking around the field, their eyes went wide at the abundance of colors between the flowers. So many! And it was so bright compared to Below! They pounced towards a set of interesting looking ones, crouching down to peer at them more closely. Unless the lost guy had been shrunk, he probably wasn’t here, but flowers! Shifting slightly, they tried to take everything in, the detail of the petals, various insects that seemed to be both interested in the flowers and not bothered by the large hybrid inches away. ”Lycos! Look at all these cool bugs!”
After a few moments they stood again, catching up to the group before they got left behind, spying the familiar rack of the hybrid that had reminded them about looking everywhere and not just forward. Crouching down slightly as they walked, they snuck up on their unsuspecting prey, and then…POUNCE!, landed next to her and flopped their ears to the side with an enthusiastic grin. ”Hey! You’re the one from the first carriage! We didn’t...spot the guy yet…” They did seem genuinely disappointed by this, ears lowering slightly, despite the entire idea behind the ride being to travel to find the guy.

Response: Raspbina stretched as she stepped off the carriage and subtly adjusted her bosom. The girls got a little too relaxed when she was still for longer than five minutes. She wasn't even entirely sure why she came on this trip except it sounded kind of interesting. And her little sister had been practically begging for some time to herself for a while. Not to mention it had been way too long since she had left the garage.
So here she was. In a field of wild flowers. Well, at least there were some cute Nightmares here. One in particular, though with his hair covering his eyes like that she wasn't sure he could even see anything. But she wasn't here for romance. She was here to help find Dr. Horn. She would begin at the beginning and make her way back and forth looking for clues.
She just happened to end up following the Nightmare in the flowery shirt. "So. Can you even see though all that hair?" she asked, trying to make conversation while she looked around. It seemed like some of the other members of their group that had gone the same way had made friends in their search. The yellow flitterats with the flowery butts were kinda cute but definitely more her sister's style than her own. Mistandra liked all that cutesy crap. Raspbina was more into function. Or anything that managed to make gears and mechanical things look slightly feminine. She wasn't usually into flowers but this place was kind of relaxing...

Lycos being enthusiastic was one heck of an understatement. With a full night's rest under their belt, they has energy to spare as they finally arrived at their destination. and what a destination it was! It was wide and open, there were colorful flowers and who knows what else waiting to be found. Well, that and the person they were supposed to be looking for after all. Lycos had somewhat sombered after some conversations with others, the fact that their quarry may not be here, or worse, that he was dead.
Still, it was hard to be serious with such a nice open area! It was great, and every so often they'd stop and gently poke at one of the more unique-colored flowers they could find, and even the little insects were so interesting to watch! Heck, for a while even they didn't manage to remember they were looking for a guy- to get a degree-, and just look in the environment. The insects and flowers were just so cool!
When their twin perked up, so did they, and they mirrored Latros' movements. Of course, thinking they would be more graceful, Lycos tried to jump a little farther, but, only managed a few more inches. And, well, landing in a crumpled heap seemed to be their specialty, though they very quickly shrugged it off.
"We're gonna, though." They continued, staring at the horned hybrid intently. And we're gonna...Ask the bugs." They said right as a small ladybug decided to start crawling up one of their ears.

A flitterrat came out of its hiding spot and squeaked at him and then he heard a soft voice speaking to him. Bewildered by his lack of hearing he spun around which caused his hair to flare about his face like a wildman.
"Huh?" he said. "Where did you come from?" I must be losing my touch, I should have heard you walk up on me!" with that he frowned and looked about as if someone else was waiting to "jump him" meaning pop up and give him a start.
"For your question, I can see just fine. I like it when my eyes are hidden, makes it easier to see and not be seen at the same time if you know what I mean" he chuckled. "Why you so interested in my hair?" he asked in a pointed tone. Seemed this female was a bit rough about the edges but something about her interested him. Her hair was pretty it glistened in the morning sun which caused her horns to gleam as well.
Shaking his head he turned his head to look around the patch of grass they were exploring while speaking. It seemed to be the nothing was there to find meaning clues, nothing about. Looking back he saw the flitterrat had followed him, squeaking in protest about being left behind. Sighing, he bent down and picked the little fella up and allowed it to rest on his shoulder as he looked for clues. The twitching of the nose and small squeaks soothed him somehow and calmed him enough so he could think about where to move to next and look about for anything that would give him a clue to where the expedition may have gone or what happened.

Maari was taking a photo of a lovely flower with a jewel-like beetle she did not recognize perched on it when the familiar ran up to her. She blinked down at the yellow flitter rat and then coaxed it onto her hand, and then her shoulder. "Well hello the... EEP!" She was startled, and ALMOST yelped, and her new friend turned to chitter at her erstwhile and once again companions. She had her hand to her... voluminous... bosom, as she gasped a little, taking a moment to catch her breath from the startle and shock they and their sibling had managed to give her.
Once she was calm again and had caught her breath, she gave them a small smile. "I have not seen him either, but I have seen many a lovely flower, and found a new friend." She ran a gentle finger down the flitter rat's back, smiling at the way it leaned into the touch and made a soft sort of churring sound. "I am wondering if we need to cross the field all the way to find our target. I think my next goal is North, if you two would like to accompany my friend and I? We would welcome the company, wouldn't we, dear Ander?" She had clearly decided on the name as she spoke, but she seemed pleased by it, and so did her little companion, so what did it matter if it was spur of the moment.
She noticed the ladybug on Lycos' ear and said "Pardon me, I want a photo of your communicative friend there..." and snapped a shot. "They'll make a great inspiration for a lovely jeweled broach. So... North?" And she moved off in that direction, examining the field as she went, her camera snapping away... Though she glanced back at the siblings with a warm, if slightly flirtatious, grin, her fluffy tail flicking to reveal her shapely rump for a moment.
