The convoy of magical, horseless carriages have to travel for seven days to reach the edge of the Lost Lands. The carriages have larger interiors than their bus-sized exteriors, but still have a relatively cramped space for booth-come-beds. Each carriage has one bathroom, one kitchenette and one guide who is magically directing the carriages. The space inside may be cramped, but each carriage has a ladder leading to its roof with couches and blankets.
This thread is starting off with the first day of their travels, after everyone has boarded. If you want to roleplay your character's arrival or within your own rp groups move days along faster, that's fine! Because this is just for fun and to get to know each other, it's ok if there are conflicts in timelines. For example, Duck and Embi could be roleplaying their characters on day one, whereas Kiv and Myn's characters are already on day three.
You may only roleplay characters here that you have posted in the sign-up thread. There are no stops, so it might be easy for characters to feel stir-crazy for the week. At this point, your characters have no idea what to expect. No one gave clear descriptions of the Lost Lands, so they could hold anything and have any kind of terrain. The choice of plains, wildflowers or forest will have in-character been made at the end of this phase. RP for the carriage ride phase will end on February 8th at 11pm EST. The thread will be locked at this time, so make sure you get in your last, wrap-up posts!
First Carriage: Clare (grandma duck), Cyan (Embi-lamb), Maarika (Aria Starstone), Troy (Sara Siren Noire), Saiph (iMoony) Middle Carriage: Latros (Mauserati), Lycos (Kivras), Ligeia (Avid_RPer18 ), Oíche (Nasaiki), Guadalupe (Porcelain Pinch), Maoli (- Mynsed- ) Last Carriage: Sierra (Milady Emerald), Eir (Lural), Amity (Duke of Donut), Jin (Shaddaling), Devon (Obnoxious Obscurity), Tabi (smolderingskies)

Clare hovered by the carriage guide's seat, looking nervously around the busy space. She had of course decided ride in the front carriage in case anything should happen to the convoy - always have to lead from the front, right? She began to stroke Milky's head in an absent-minded way, the deer-like tail happily nuzzling her leg as she did so. "It'll be fine... of course it will be fine. I have you, Milky," she said softly, smiling for the first time in days. She couldn't help but be worried, though. Every story she heard about their destination got darker and darker. People disappearing, screams echoing through forests, downhill streams turning red from blood... Of course none of it could be true - they were just silly folk stories, but why? Was the land simply dangerous and it was a way to protect unsuspecting travellers? Were there a large number of dangerous flora or fauna, making any sort of expansion into the land too costly? Her anxious mind was filled with the horrible possibilities.
With a sigh she waved lazily to the guide before collapsing into one of the cushioned booths. "This was a huge mistake," She moaned, hoping none of the rest of the expedition heard her. They were in for a long ride, after all, and the last thing she needed was panicked chaos. 'If only Chris was here.' She thought miserably. Her light-hearted partner always knew how to keep her relaxed and make the best out of a situation. Hopefully the others in her carriage were good at that, too. Maybe a spot of tea was in order.

---Although Lycos was initially hesitant about the whole thing, they ended up being the one dragging Latros by the sleeve to volunteer for this...what was it? Rescue mission?
Yeah, sure, they were going to dangerous lands, but they were NEW lands. Places that they could explore! Places with new things to find, and honestly? They needed the social interaction. The twins' room was only so big. they needed to expand beyond it.
But, true to their natures, they ended up zeroing in on the very front carriage. After all, it was the one with the most views right? They could see EVERYTHING! Before anyone else in the ones behind them could. Heck, maybe they'd be the heroes and be the ones to spot the....wait, what were they looking for again? A guy? Well, maybe they'd make their way to the other carriages somehow.
The leader of their expedition wasn't wholly forgotten, thankfully, and Lycos took a moment to peel their face off the window to look at Clare with a wide, fanged grin, all of their eyes slimmed in excitement.
"Hey, hey! We're gonna find 'im super soon! Maybe we don't have to go far!" They assured her, before turning to their twin. "Hey. If I spot him first I get to steal your hammock for a week."

Cramped. Cramped. Cramped. Perhaps it was unceremonious for Cyan to have boarded the carriage in the front before any of the others -- even their guide -- had arrived. Cyan just wanted to be prepared. But, more importantly, nature called. And when nature called you had to do what you had to do. A swirling fwoooosh could be heard from the sealed bathroom door. The door swung up rather suddenly, Cyan taking one step out of the narrow bathroom space and practically leaped out of their skin. How didn't she hear the other people come in?Cyan played it cool, swiping a hand through her long gradient hair and slid her way out into the sitting area. "Heeeey, folks," Cyan announced herself. "Ya'll ready to get this show on the road?" Cyan offered the biggest grin she could muster, gaze wandering to the window of the carriage to steal a glimpse. She was curious to see who else would be joining their little rag-tag team and -- "Oh, s**t! We're already moving! Er - I mean. I knew that. Nevermind."How ******** long had she been in there? Last night's choice of Goblin food was a bad idea. The hybrid hadn't even felt the carriage lurch forward to signal the beginning of their grand expedition. Cyan must have been a lot more focused on her tummy troubles and them far more serious than she originally thought. At least her system seemed all clear now. Cyan angled her body sideways and squeezed her thick hips deeper into the space, flopping down on one of the plush cushions, taking the time to absorb her surroundings and the people within them. "I'm Cyan, for those that don't know me. Hope you're all prepared to get real familiar with one another!"

Latros already had the week scheduled in advance. First there was snow flake observation day, then snow spider construction day, not to mention enjoying hot cocoa day. At least, until Lycos had to literally drag them away for some rescue mission. It sounded really boring at first, but then they realized this was a new place that everyone was afraid of. Possibilities for adventure~! Once the two had met up with the rest of the group to embark on the search, it wasn't long before the both picked the route that went through the wildflower fields, and even less time before they both found themselves at the front of the convoy. As usually happened, they of course mirrored their twin (or was their twin mirroring them???), face plastered to the window and eyes darting about as they took in the sights. At least until their guide seemed to forget that they were there. Lycos was the first to jump to respond though, this time. "Yeah! Don't worry deer! We'll find him for sure!"They paused for a moment at their twin's bet, giving them fanged grin back, "At least this time kick me out first. I bet the view is better up top anyway!"Without waiting for a retort, they zoomed up the ladder to the roof and floofed up some blankets by a window to keep an eye or eight out.

Oíche wasn’t quite sure what possessed her to come along but her dad had mentioned life was about exploring new places and things, especially when it was mysteriously and came with some danger. Of course he hadn’t totally been for her going along but she was getting old enough now it was time to try her own adventures. Problem was she forgot she wasn’t exactly the most extroverted. Even worse she didn’t really know how to people. She groaned at the thought of that attempt at going to a cafe. Oh well, she just had to think of this as character growth. Walking on to the carriage she quickly scoped out a place she could call her own and sat down rullfingthr9ugh her bag and making sure she had all the sunglasses she needed for the trip. While it was true that she did have fey blood, it was minuscule at that and all her other racial makeup was below races. Then again maybe she didn’t need to worry about interacting with the living. There had been dark rumors about people dying after visiting the lands right? So maybe she should stick with what she did the best. With a sigh she turned her attention back to outside the window. She would just deal with what ever came her way like always, although she hoped that maybe enough strange things would happen that people would ignore how strange she was and possibly she could make a friend.... possibly. Okay really she needed to stop rambling even if it was just in her thoughts.

Clare sat in her own cloud of anxiety, her worries so thick they almost seemed to physically manifest around her. What if Peter was... gone? Forever? What if she was luring all these people to the same fate? She was snapped out of her woes by an exciteable young hallowed who tried to offer her some reassurance. "I.. yes, of course," she agreed with a faint smile. Sure, he'd only been missing for weeks, but maybe they wouldn't have to go far? It was hard to believe it, but she couldn't help but chuckle at the 'deer' comment of the hallowed's twin. They certainly looked shockingly alike, and their light-hearted banter was infectious. "Tell you what, if you two find Dr Horn first, I'll give you honorary degrees," She joked. They would know she was joking, right? She watched them hurry away, heading straight for the roof. She hadn't been up there herself, of course - far too dangerous, the railings were barely up to her waist!
Clare looked up at the sudden slam of the bathroom door opening, her eyes trailing the dark hybrid as they sauntered across the carriage. They looked so... familiar. She listened to their introduction with curiosity, her eyes lighting up when she said 'Cyan'. "Of course!" She exclaimed accidentally, quickly lifting a hand to cover their mouth. That wasn't meant to be out loud... oh well, too late now. "Cyan... your Marie's partner, right?" She asked, somewhat hesitantly. Marie... the bounty hunter she had hired to find Jason Bright. How many of these 'lost scholar expeditions' was she going to host?

Cyan rubbed at her neck as she watched one of the twins head up to the roof without so much as an introduction. The hybrid shrugged gentle, not taking it personally. There'd be plenty of time to get acquainted as the days marched forward. Tilting her head to one side as the shade with the deer-like tail addressed her, the hybrid's eye flicked to the pink-clad woman. The woman's flowery appearance reminded her a little of Marie. As that thought passed through Cyan's head, the hybrid's fluffy hand dropped in to her lap, spreading her legs to recline a bit more comfortable on her seat. If this girl was anything like Marie than her appearance was deceptive at best. "You know Marie then?" Cyan's protruding underbite made her grin look more menacing then intended, her oversized fangs sticking out funny from her lower jaw. Ah, wait ... was this ... ? "You wouldn't happen to be Clare, would you?" Cyan spread her arms out across the back of the built-in couch, her shirt rising up to expose her well-endowed underboob. There were no kids here, so Cyan could be as comfortable as she wanted to be, and that meant wearing her comfy clothes. "I recognized the name and wondered if you were one and the same Clare."

Troy had happened upon the expedition by chance. Rumor was circulating about someone who was trying to gather a party together to look for some quack scholar who probably got lost on the way to the library (which, upon hearing those words, actually made the naiad angry.) The man was missing and it sounded like no one was taking this matter seriously....even his own superiors. He definitely had inquired about it with his commanding officer and received what he could describe as a scoffing remark. None of this sat right with him; the military's job was to protect and help and that wasn't happening.
It just so happened that he had some paid leave time he had to take before being penalized....so why not use it for the greater good? Sure this was a bit....rogue...but dammit, if he could do something then he didn't want to be sitting on his tail st the beach watching for litterers. Here he was, on the bus and heading off to places where people generally dared not to tread. This felt...kind of exciting. He watched a bit of the exchanges happening and smiled, chilling out on the sofa-like seat though his mind was spinning. Where could Dr. Horne have gotten off to? His relaxed features slowly turned pensive as he tried to think of some sort of search strategy.

Blitzen wouldn't say she lived for gossip, she just had a tendency to overhear plenty of it. She blamed her ears, large as they were, for being able to pick up things that she didn't mean for them to. She used to hate her ears, back in the days when she was an insecure Junior at the Academy. Since then, she'd learned to use it in her favor. After all, gossip sometimes had a base. Thus, when she'd heard about how some scholar had runaway to uncharted lands in the Above, probably eaten by all manner of scary beastie... Naturally she had to investigate.
Her investigations had first led her to a sign up sheet. A few days ago, she'd followed that sign up sheet (of course she'd listed her name) to a convoy of horseless carriages. Now, she found herself inside one of the cramped spaces, propping her hooves up against a booth in front of her. Her narrowed ruby gaze staring at a rather dark figure, despite their pale skin: easily the most interesting person (besides Blitzen herself, naturally) on this carriage.
"Hey." She called over. "Some trip, huh? Do you think it'll take ages to get to... wherever we're going?" She asked.

This was going to be a long trip. A week in a moving vehicle without stops was going to be rough. Devon sighed to themself as they pulled a book out of his bag, glad they had the foresight to bring a few along. Maybe if anyone else brought some, they could organize a book trade? Perhaps if they had someone flight capable, they could even get a cross-car trade going? It was something to think about, in any case. People were bound to get bored, and even if they weren't normally readers or if they forgot a book, perhaps lending could help stave off some of the eventual cabin fever? They tutted to themself as they flipped to the front page. Here they were, hired to be medical assistance on a rescue mission to a mysterious land and they was trying to figure out the logistics of a caravan-wide book library system. No wonder their colleagues thought them to be boring. Maybe they ought to try to branch out and step a bit out of his comfort zone. First, to start a conversation with his carriage mates. One that doesn't involve their medical treatments. "Ah, if anyone needs it, I have medication for motion sickness. Feel free to speak to me if you are not feeling well."Hum. Failed step one. Great job.

--- - - - -Well, Lycos certainly didn't have an idea of how to introduce both of them, so instead of taking that extra few moments to say 'hi, my name is lycos and that was latros', Lycos zoomed after their twin. they have things to look at, after all.
Matter of fact, they figured, being up high would help with the searching. And, well, they had a while to go. Apparently...this trip was gonna take a while.

Clare's gaze occasionally left Cyan to observe the others in the carriage - they were her responsibility, after all. It seemed like things were starting to get a bit busier now as people made themselves comfortable and got to know one another. 'Hopefully people won't start going stir-crazy too early.' She thought bitterly. It was inevitable, but hopefully the excitement of adventure kept people interested for a while. Turning back to the lounging Cyan, Clare's smile turned into something of a grimace. Marie... that expedition didn't exactly recall lovely memories. Sometimes when she closed her eyes at night, she still saw the fiery chaos... and the corpses...
"Y-yes! Clare, that's me," she introduced quickly, trying to shake the memories, "Marie told me a bit about you, it's lovely to finally meet the famous Cyan!" A faint blush began to form on her cheeks as her eyes darted briefly to Cyan's top and back to her face. She was certainly getting comfortable, at least. "She mentioned next time I should hire the two of you. Apparently when you work together there's a lot of fire and um.. sparks," she finished softly. She wasn't surprised that Cyan and Marie were an item; only someone who oozes charm like this hybrid could woo such a firecracker.

Oiche looked away from the window she was currently staring out to notice that she wasn’t alone in the carriage any more. In fact there seemed to be another hybrid in there with her. Well this was a chance to try her people skills wasn’t it. She just needed to talk like normal. She could do this. “Well it doesn’t seem like a long trip but with no stops and just this little area, a few people would argue that the trip might seem like it was taking much longer. Probably why we can go visit the roof area I would gather. Don’t do well on long trips?” She asked. There that was relatively polite and cordious. She hopefully hadn’t already set a bad impression.
