Velvet hung out two more little clothes and then heard her phone ping again. She stopped to look at it once more, eyes lighting up at the reply. She quickly texted back, holding her phone in both hands and tapping the screen keyboard with her thumbs.
*That's wonderful, thank you! 4:30 works good for me and the kids. And sure, we can discuss those when you arrive*She was glad he'd given her some time to get ready for his visit. She wondered if she'd have to buy notebooks or wands or magic components. She supposed Nao would let her know.
Velvet finished hanging out all the family's washing, enjoying the blue sky and birdsong and the blossoming cherry trees in her own back yard. There tended to be a lot of laundry with two young children in the house but laundry happened to be one of the Alicorn's favourite chores. It was relaxing and smelled nice.
The 23 year old woman clipclopped back inside and went to check on Sorbet. He was making animals and buildings from Duplo Lego while watching The Little Mermaid. It was around 2:30pm. She knelt down beside her son and petted his soft hair and ears. "Hey baby, what'cha making? Looks like you're having fun. Do you want to help Mommy choose what to make for snack today? Your big brother Flourish is coming home soon and he'll need snacks after school. What should we do? Mini pizzas, or cinnamon rolls?"
Sorbet happily looked up at his Mommy, then pointed to his castle tower "I makin' a dower, Mommy! Biiiiig one!" he squealed, stretching his hand up as high above his head as he could reach. "And poniesh...poniesh wike Mommy!" he picked up one of the mishapen block creatures to show her, putting it in her face and making a drawn out 'Neiiiiggggh!' sound. It looked nothing like a pony but it was a colourful cluster. Velvet made noises of enthusiastic interest and praised his efforts.
"Oooh! Well done, baby! That IS a big tower. I bet it'll reach alll the way to the sky when you're finished. Oh -
ponies! That's lovely, sweetie! You always love making ponies with your blockies, don't you?" she grinned, tickling her son playfully and pulling him into a hug to plant kisses on his neck and face, making the baby erupt with delightful laughter and wriggles.
When she'd asked him what to make for snack, Sorbet's answer was immediate and excited. "Bee-za, bee-za, wets make BEE-ZA~!" he cheered, bouncing on his padded butt and making Velvet laugh.
"Okay sugarbun! We'll do mini pizzas! And will Sorbet be Mommy's good little helper and help tidy up the house too? We have a special friend coming to visit once Flourish comes home from school. Remember Fluffy Man? You want to see Fluffy Man again, don't you?" she asked, beaming as she used a name Sorbet would recognise to hopefully remember Nao in that little toddler mind of his. "Fluffy Man is coming to teach us magic. Won't that be fun!?"
