Natural Clinic/Apothacary
User Image

Established by Silverton Cyan Lenz about twenty-two years ago, the clinic takes a more natural and holistic approach rather than relying too heavily on technology like most hospitals in Vale today. This octagonal building features an open floor concept. In the reception and waiting room soothing music plays as one waits for their turn. On the reception deck, there is a dry-erase board, and each week a new riddle is written. Each consultation room is spacious and comfortable featuring necessary equipment for their patient's visits. To keep negativity to a minimum, there is a small and cozy room with low light for contemplation; this is the Room of Silence. Finally, patients are allowed to walk through the gardens where their ingredients are gathered for different remedies and then made in a cozy hut just outside where the herbs and plants grow.

Owner/Primary Doctor/Apothecary: Dr. Lenz
Secondary Doctor: Dr. Cobalt

Work at the clinic was rather busy after she had met the young man a fortnight ago. She would continue as she would like any other day. She would find her thoughts turning to her strange guest when she had any free moments. Patients came and went as the days passed by.

This particular day marked the morning of a new riddle. As she walked in wearing normal clothes, she would enter through the garden after a nice walk. As she would enter through and into the quaint staff room for changing into uniform.
"Good morning John...Ah, thank you," She greeted her second-in-command as she met him outside the changing area and gladly taking the mug of orange blossom and cinnamon black tea he held out to her. "Thankfully he's stopped lecturing me," She thought to herself. The one she called John would bow his head slightly. "Good morning, Doctor." The man that greeted her was about her own age, and a good full foot taller, but he was efficient in his duties and his knowledge on holistic and natural alternatives were on par with her own just a couple years prior. "Who do we have today?" She inquired as they would don their jackets and hats of the typical medic of Vale.

As they walked out, he would hand her the files of her patients that were scheduled, as well as those of Beacon which confused the female medic.
"I don't remember...Oh! right, they wanted a second opinion," She said, momentarily blanking at the request she had fulfilled. It had been so long ago. "So, who will be collecting them then? I am most certainly not heading over there to drop them off," Drac thought as she was too busy.

Dr. Lenz and John would then look at the folders in turn.
"Do you think you could take some of the patients while I take a second look-over at these," She asked him casually before seeing his look, confusing her. "What?" She did not do this often, so she felt the look was unwarranted..He then smiled. "Of course." He chuckled as he knew perfectly well that his expressions confused her. He may have been the voice of empathy, but he also enjoyed teasing his colleague. Having spent so many years with her, he had learned that she was not the best at reading people, and that was where he felt he could help her. "Good...I mean, thank you. Sincerely." She said and smiled back, the fair-haired doctor then walked away to a quiet place to make sure they had all the files for the Academy, tea in the other hand as she left. She would be in the gardens for some peace "Good luck." He chuckled and shook his head before going to the reception room to call in his first patient of the morning.

Garret had enjoyed the confidence the young tigress had when she accepted his challenge, and found it was not one of overconfidence. She seemed to be adept at this type of thing, though she went about it in a much different style than his own. While Garret's own travel was filled with fanciful acrobatics, hers was a more pragmatic and simple manner of doing so. She saw her challenges, and went about tackling them in the best manner. That isn't to say she may not have tried or done some of her own, but in general that was where their styles differed. In fact, she seemed to easily keep up with him. He had suspicions she could even surpass him in that manner if she so chose to do. For now he enjoyed having this challenger join him in his travels in tackling the more challenging routes at least. It was a welcome change of pace from monotony and authority that he had grown slightly accustomed to at the school, though there were admittedly many days which broke that trend. 'Rachel in particular.' He thought to himself. The shark had a tendency to bring chaos and violence wherever she went, though he would admit it was part of her charm. While having no interest in her in that manner, it made her enjoyable company in his mind. Which also made him again wonder what had driven these two who seemed similar apart. It was not his business to pry into the matter, but it did not lessen his curiosity. Nor would it deter him from asking if he felt it appropriate. Despite the route they chose, it was not long before they arrived at their destination. Once near it, Garret would take the nearest available route to descend from the rooftops he found wordlessly. She had over and over again pledged she would do this task, so he felt no need to remind her on it. Rather, he felt a playful smirk cross his lips as he spoke without turning to her. "You seem to keep up well Tigress. Perhaps I underestimated your ability, or perhaps you were lucky. Regardless, it would seem that we have arrived." He would say in a slightly teasing tone of voice. He had learned that she was more than capable, but no need to let her know that quite yet.

Striding through the clinic doors he would go to the reception and speak once it was his turn in the small queue there. "I am here for the supplies headed to beacon, as well as to see the doctor afterwards if it would not be an inconvenience. If not, I can come back another day." Garret would say simply in a calm tone of voice. He wasn't arrogant one hundred percent of the time, and knew when he needed to be professional or formal. He would wait there for his request to be processed as he turned to the tigress. "Oh, and you will be needing this. Show this to the infirmary, and they will know I sent you. With luck, you may escape punishment." He would say simply in an informal tone as he reached into his satchel and handed her a red rose from it. While she likely would not know what it signified from him, it mattered not. It was almost a call sign of his at this point, and he was sure those at the academy would know it would give his authorization for her to carry out this task. He didn't have a scroll to send a message for it after all, and he would rather not give his signature out so freely. 'It should serve as an appropriate symbol.' He thought to himself. Garret's gaze would then briefly travel around the main area of the clinic itself, taking note of its aesthetic, current population, and layout. It was of interesting design, and was pleasant to take in. There was music in the air, and apparently a riddle on the board in the reception area. Mulling it over in his mind, Garret was unsure of how to come about with an answer for it. There seemed to be a focus on food, despite it saying it was not such, and he was unsure which would be the misleading part of it if at all. It would not be one he could solve quickly, and would take more time on his part to try and figure it out. Which, seeing as he had to await supplies and potentially see the doctor, he seemed to have time to try and attempt it. His attention would be given back to Tsuki though if she chose to continue the conversation, but it would be very clear he was focusin on the riddle.

The young tigress was enjoying the challenge though inside she was starting to feel a small sense of dread. Yes, she knew where they were going and she was going to be in trouble, she knew it. She noted silently that though their styles differed, they were almost equal in speed and athletic ability; at least when it came to hopping the roofs. As they were nearing their destination, she would follow suit in descending and finally landing but a few feet from the clinic itself.

Entering casually after the tall male human, Miya looked around the familiar surroundings with a frown.
"Ah, so it's a change in the riddles. That one's easy." She thought with a smile once her eyes set upon the board. As he spoke to the receptionist, she waved slightly to the elderly woman. "Hey Cindy Lou," Miya said after both were greeted.

Cindy smiled to them both and waved down a tall young man, one with a doctor's coat who would show them where to pick up the equipment before handing them an accordion file suitcase, with student medical files inside and locked.

When Lancer's attention returned to her, her icy-blue eyes glared up at him. Slightly insulted, but she understood.
"I'm not one to break my promises," Tsuki replied, before carefully taking the red rose and the case before bowing her head slightly to the receptionist then turning, she would leave. "Until we meet again," the young woman said before disappearing from sight.

The doctor had finished looking over the files and had placed them inside the case before handing them off to her assistant. She would then go in and see her first patient of the day. "Should be here soon." She said to herself before taking a sip of her tea. "Aww, it's all gone," She thought with a frown before throwing her cup away. "The messenger has arrived," John would tell his boss before going and seeing the young man...and a familiar tigress, before she would leave. He then bowed and left to meet with his own patient.

The receptionist smiled to the tall gentleman that had been escorted by Miss Tora before she left and told him the doctor should be with him in a minute and to just fill out the usual forms that she handed to him. Of course within that time, Dr. Lenz stepped out and looked around the quaint waiting room. Seeing the tall gentleman. "Good morning," greeted a pleasant English accent from a female medic. "He looks new," the doctor thought, never seeing him before, but she would make him feel welcome nonetheless. "If you would, follow me and you may finish that in room 5," She instructed for the dark haired man to follow her. As they walked, they would pass a window that would give him a glance into the gardens. "So, what seems to be the issue," She inquired of him as she would open the door to room five and allow him to enter first.

Garret found the task of acquiring the supplies and relevant files was easy once they had entered. They were led by a doctor to the equipment swiftly, and handed the files. Both of which he entrusted to the Tigress to deliver to its intended destination. She accepted his sign of a red rose, and said she was not one to break her word. Which lancer believed he would find out later on once he found out if her task had been completed. He hoped she would prove to be the trustworthy type in this regard. Seeing her off... all that left for him was to await his seeing the doctor in question. He would be given forms to fill out about his history and such, to which he would politely thank the receptionist and take a seat to do so. He was not quite sure what to make of it, never having a stable doctor or records in his life and usually only going in to the emergency ones for treatment. As such... there were some fields he was unsure of, some he did not know the answer at all to, and others he preferred not to fill in. Still, he was progressing through it at a fairly decent rate until he reached one specific question. It had asked for his name. He did not know whether he had to give one, but hardly wanted to make one up on the spot. It was not something he found honorable to do as that was a lie. It was why he had an alias instead, as that is a consistent identity. As such... he would merely write in Lancer as a name with no last name. Upon doing so, he found his attention drawn to a female that had stepped out in medical uniform to greet him good morning. She had long white hair and blue grey eyes, speaking in an accent that seemed just slightly different from what he had heard in vale. Seeing as he was greeted, Garret would rise from his seat and offer a slight bow to her in return. "Good morning to you as well." He would say in a calm yet friendly tone of voice as he stood back up to his full height, being a bit taller than her. Something he had found common place here in Vale at times, while also meeting titans that were taller than him. He was not sure if she were a doctor or not, but she seemed to at least be medical staff from how her uniform would defer from the receptionist.

She would then ask him to follow her and finish it in room five. Curious, and seeing it as about the same as waiting out here, he would give no protest or resistance as he followed after her out of the man reception area. He would note the instructive tone of it as well as the inviting nature to it, and saw no reason not to follow it for that reason. He would also note that her voice, perhaps from her accent, made her seem a bit older than she appeared as she was fairly young in his estimate. Maybe older or near his age, of that he could not be sure. Guessing a persons age was never an easy thing, as age has different effects on different people. As they walked at a calm pace, he would note a window along the way and look outside of it curiously. He only was able to look out of it for a few moments, but he did take note of a garden out there. 'I wonder what is grown in that garden. Would it be strictly medical, therapeutic, or both?' He pondered to himself, coming along to those specific assumptions due to this being a more natural clinic and all. For all he knew, it could be just to look aesthetically pleasing but he was unsure. He may have to ask someone about that later on if he got the chance to do so. As he sighted the number five, assuming it was for the room they were headed towards, he felt the desire to go ahead and open it for the both of them. However, before he would get the chance his escort had already reached the door and opened it for him to enter inside, allowing him to enter first as she asked what the issue seemed to be. Before he would answer, he would first enter the room and take a seat on the exam room bed in the middle of the room before turning his gaze again towards her. "Simply to establish a baseline for future visits. I believe it is referred to as a general check up? This has been the only place I know of to use natural remedies in treatment, which I prefer to the alternative technological ones. As far as I can ascertain, I am healthy." He would say, cutting straight to the point as she herself did in the reason for his visit. His tone was neutral for the most part as he spoke, curious of this person now as they may in fact be the doctor themselves or an assistant. Looking through the rest of the room briefly, finding the aesthetic pleasing and not the sterile cold white like most hospitals he had been too, his golden eyes would return to his escort. "May I know your name and if you shall be my doctor? Many places I have been to tend to have assistants lead and question the patients rather than the doctors themselves." He would ask, his tone more inquisitive than anything else. There was no negative implication or tone in his voice as he asked, as he genuinely just desired to know the answer.

The doctor was quiet as she noted the calm yet friendly tone, not quiet sure what to make of it, but figured it polite. He was indeed new, she deduced to herself. As they would make their way down the hall, she would take a glance at the garden. She loved her garden and took the greatest care of it. Though it was beginning to cloud over.

As they reached the room, she would offer her new patient to enter first; waiting for the tall young man to sit before she would enter and close the door, for the patient's privacy. After closing the door, the medic would turn to him once again.
"I see, well, new patients are always welcome Mr...Lancer." She said after taking his chart when he was finished and glanced toward the name. As she scanned the rest, she would raise a slight eyebrow. "How intriguing," She thought as her blue-gray eyes turned to look up at him. He was rather forward, she noted. Good. "Usually those are done annually to bi-annually, but yes, it would be a check-up," She replied matter-of-factually, standing naturally with proper posture. "I see, someone that understands technology is not always the right path for everyone," the doctor thought, pleased. She would give him a cursory glance before walking over to set the chart and papers on the counter.

"I am Dr. Lenz and I don't use or have assistants. I prefer meeting my patients myself," She answered casually, introducing herself as his doctor for the day. She would then look back at the chart. "Since it is a general check up, and your first time with us, I must ask if you have had a check-up before," She asked as she would grab her stethoscope and. with the earpieces in, she rested the other end just over his heart and begin listening for any abnormalities. "Deep breath in...then out slowly," She instructed calmly as she would listened to his answer.

Being seated in the now closed room with the medical personnel, Garret would finally take a moment to study the person that had brought him in. Typically he would do so when he first saw someone, but in this case he merely waited to see if she would be long lasting or merely an escort to his destination. The door being closed and her remaining were evidence enough that he would be with her for some time at least, perhaps not particularly long but still time enough to try and gauge what he could. By doing so he could make out little more for now save a few details. She was of slender build and shorter than most people he was in contact with, but that was not cause to rule her out in a fight. It was often the ones that were underestimated that gain the upper hand, merely on the basis that the element of surprise is a significant advantage. To work in a medical career, regardless of what position and especially in a practice that is not technologically oriented, meant she had to have a fair level of mental capacity and intellect. Perhaps not focused on combat itself or some of the matters his own was, but at least for the relevant topics for her field. She was neither overly talkative nor silent, so there seemed to be no discomfort in interacting with strangers on her end. 'Though that may have been implied alone with working in such a field.' He thought to himself. There may have been more subtle details to her that could give clues to her nature and capabilities, but he could not discern them currently. If he were to happen to run into her here in the future, not something he was planning on doing if he could help it, he may then pick up on such things. For now he would have to see what he could glean in their interactions here. While this was primarily to assess the person for threat levels, it was also something he enjoyed doing to pass the time. 'So much can be said even when no word is spoken.' He silently thought.

During these musings and thoughts he had mostly finished what was on his form, well what he could fill out from it. There were probably old records that were far more accurate and reliable than his memory on such things, but that would be in Vacuo which was currently dark. His gaze would curiously remain on the women in front of him as he handed her the form and she took it while welcoming him... and then seeming to pause at his name. 'I wonder what gave her pause; does she perhaps recognize it, or is merely for lack of a last name?' He silently pondered to himself, slightly amused by her reaction to it. 'Is she a creature of order?' He then wondered, as he then saw her continue to look over the form with a raised eyebrow. It was probably unorthodox to have left it as he did and she accustomed to more being filled out than he had. Some thoughts played into his mind on it and he entertained the thought of voicing them, but for now kept them quiet. He did not want to antagonize someone who may try their hand at injecting him in the future. Her eyes would then raise to look up towards him as he only now recalled that with the raised patient seat in the center he still was a good deal taller than her. She would then clarify but agree with what he had said his reason for being here matter-of-factually and stand naturally with proper posture. 'Hmmm... About to delve into the examination now or is this just her assuming her professional stance for what is to come?' Garret would wonder to himself. It was still too early for him to make any assumptions with certainty. He saw her give him a cursory glance as she walked a bit away to put the papers down there.

She would then introduce herself as Dr. Lenz and clarify she was not the type to use assistants to treat her patients. 'Good to know then, as I shall be seeing her each visit then.' He thought to himself. Normally, he would take the opportunity to introduce himself at this point but she had already learned his alias from his file, and she seemed fairly focused currently. Rather than interrupt her train of thought, he would patiently remain silent for the moment. Her attention had also moved from him back to a chart she seemed to be studying, reasoning something perhaps of him or not. While he had experience with field treatment, the finer knowledge of internal medicine and more severe wounds were not things he was familiar with. She would then ask him if he had a check up before, going so far as to state her reasoning for it. Smiling down to her in a friendly manner, he would respond. "A pleasure to meet you Dr. Lenz. I do not believe I have had the standard check-up most people do, unless you count those quick ones done by hospitals for emergencies as such." His response was relatively simple and to the point for now. He was not one to readily reveal things about his past for the most part, nor to spread information freely. He knew well how that knowledge from even the most casual of slips could be used against someone. He would then see her grab a stethoscope before approaching him and resting it onto his heart. His eyes watched as she approached, partially curious, as he would feel the cold metal even through his clothing. Part of him wondered if he should make it more difficult, or see it as a challenge that she wordlessly and fearlessly invading his own space. But he knew it was part of the job, and he was beginning to see her as the type of professional that ignored such things to get straight to the task. While normally he would not feel his heartbeat, whenever a stethoscope was used it was almost as if he was hearing it as well. He would then be instructed by her to take a deep breath in then breath out slowly. Seeing no reason to object to such things for now, he would oblige and take in a deep breath. The breath itself took fifteen seconds to go in as he calmly inhaled through his nose, trying to make it as deep a breath as possible. Only at fifteen seconds, when he began feeling discomfort, did he begin to exhale. His exhale similarly took fifteen seconds as well as he slowly expelled the air from his lungs thoroughly, intent to rid it of all the inhaled air. He would continue to do so until told not to and would refrain from speaking as he did so.

The doctor looked to him with a bemused expression at his reply after saying it was a pleasure to meet her. "Those do not count, in my professional opinion," She said calmly, though she would not lecture him on the importance of a full check-up. The only thing that was to be done was to do one now. Though without a past to go on, it would mean she was, in many cases, working with a blank slate which would be a first for her. "So, I am working with child, in some sense," She thought, though knowing full well he was only a couple years younger than herself, the figuration were similar.

Her blue-grey eyes would close as she had her stethoscope to his chest, it was normal. She would then move to rest behind his heart area.
"Again," She instructed as he complied. "Well...at least he's not as stubborn," the doctor thought, pleased. After she was done testing for any irregularities and found none, she would walk back over and write notes on the patient sheet. Returning her attentions to him, she would walk over with a cuff device. "This is for testing for blood pressure," She said as she would undo the Velcro so as to put it around his right arm, "It might be a bit uncomfortable, but shouldn't be painful."

Dr. Lenz would start to apply pressure as it would begin to puff up around his arm, once full and slightly pressing into his arm enough to provide clear readings, she would make silent note that it was indeed healthy before it would deflate and she would remove it. "Good," She said to herself before removing and putting it away and make more notes. Once notes were made, she would grab what looks like a small rubber triangle hammer before returning to her patient.

The doctor seemed to sport a bemused expression from his response, though he wondered as to what. 'She should be familiar with the things those hospitals do given her field, so it is likely not that. Is she more so confused that I have never had the standard checkup most do?' He silently wondered to himself. She would then say that they did not count in her opinion, which agreed with what he had thought. It was a quick thing and hardly worth a visit to do if that was the case, so it brought some measure of relief to know this should be more thorough. Her voice was calm as was seeming to be the norm for her, though he wondered if that would change once out of the clinic. 'Does her professionalism extend past the confines of this clinic, or is it firmly a part of her?' He wondered to himself silently. Part of him being tempted to poke at that aspect of her, but not currently when he was subject to her treatment and knowledge. It was best not to bite the hand that feeds, least not before one has already been fed. It would be interesting to see how she was outside of her job regardless of whether he antagonized her then. 'Though should all be well I shall hopefully not be meeting her more than is necessary.' He silently thought to himself. The primary reason being that to see her again would likely mean he needed treatment, meeting her in this location at the least. While he could believe himself invulnerable and this procedure to be useless, he knew it not to be the case. Further, he did not particularly enjoy all the tests, treatments, and needles they would use in his experience to heal. He felt far too much at their mercy and it would be very easy for him to perish during that time. It was, however, an unfortunate gamble he would have to take.

Garret felt a slight bit of curiosity as he saw her eyes close while the stethoscope was to his chest, knowing it was likely to focus on his heart beat as he had seen and heard many depictions of such things. He wondered how his own heart sounded, never having been given the chance to do so before. He also wondered how it would compare to others in regards to it. As far as he knew, it was entirely healthy and should not pose any issues but it was not something he would know how to check and judge for himself. The thought to ask to hear his own popped into his own mind, but he did not want to speak as he focused on his breathing. He was not sure how talking would affect her reading of it. 'Would she hear me if I spoke, or notice?' He wondered to himself. While being told to breathe deeply, he was not told to remain silent. Further, the part of the stethoscope on her ears almost seemed like ear plugs so he idly wondered if they also acted as noise cancelers. Why it would be needed in this setting he was unsure, but he could see the use for it. This was all just speculation to pass the time in his mind as she focused on his heart. She would then move the stethoscope to another part of his body, feeling the cold of it through on him yet again as he repressed a shiver from it. Cold was not exactly something he was entirely used to given where he had grown up. Again, he could feel his breathing and heart amplified from the touch of it. He knew not why he became so aware of it when this was done, only that it happened. Hearing her say again, he would follow her instructions and keep his thoughts to himself as he did so. She seemed satisfied after a little bit, pulling the stethoscope away as she would return to where she had placed the patient sheets to write notes. "So is it all normal, or do I indeed have the heart of a lion?" He would ask with a smile, wondering just how she would respond to this. More so curious if she would dismiss it or actually go along with his joke than anything else in particular. He would then soon see her re-approach him with a cuff seeming to be attached to a different device as she would state its purpose to be testing blood pressure. This was a device he was not entirely familiar with from his own experiences, and as such knew little of what to expect. He was uncertain of how it would work as he saw her unwrap it then felt it being placed over his arm. It did not feel tightly placed as he wondered how it would work, before she would mention it would be uncomfortable but not painful. Then the cuff would begin to inflate around his arm as he slowly felt the pressure building up. She was not lying when she mentioned there would be no pain but a feeling of uncomfortableness. However, it got to a point where it felt like the circulation was dying entirely in his arm. "Is this meant to sever my arm at some point?" He would say in a slightly joking manner, though he would noticeably be tensed up slightly. His ease and calm was beginning to fade from the prolonged pressure as he felt an urge to rip it off and go for his spears... but seeing as it grew no further in pressure he forced himself to wait. It was aided further by the fact that the doctor remained calm and did not seem to have ill intent or that he fell for some trap.

Thankfully he felt the cuff soon deflate and relieve his arm of the pressure, causing him to return to ease though slightly wary. 'I had forgotten how some of the procedures felt.' He silently thought to himself as it was taken so badly due to his inexperience with it. The feelings of restraint never felt well nor were taken as such by him. Seeing her walk over and then remove the cuff brought further relief as that tool was finally away from him, hoping not to relive that any time soon. 'Though in retrospect it was not the worst feeling... I can at least brace myself for the next time.' He silently thought to himself. He would then hear her say good, but as he would look to her he would discern it was not to him as she seemed focused in her work. She would quickly put it away and go back to write further notes in there, Garret idly wondering if she noted his reactions to it as well. 'At least it seems whatever reading she had gained was favorable.' He thought to himself silently, as had it not been so he felt she may have been tempted to re-run the test which he was not ready for so soon. As Garret focused on trying to prepare himself for the next test mentally, slightly disappointed it had affected him so when it was no trap like he had been thinking, he would see her grab what seemed like a strange hammer. However, where it would usually have mallet-like head, this one seemed to have a triangle one. He was not quite sure why it was shaped as such, nor what it was meant for. It was small enough at least that it did not seem a threat to him, for all he knew, but appearances could be deceiving. Resolved not to have a reaction like before, he would try to glean as much information as he could as she would return to him. "What shall that be for, if I may inquire?" He would say in an inquisitive yet calm tone of voice, trying not to betray why he was asking.

The doctor was concentrating on the task at hand. So as he would watch her, her eyes would close as she listened to his heartbeat. It was a healthy one, and she was satisfied before walking away to make notes. As she was walking away though, she would hear his comment and look over her shoulder at him slightly confused. "I would believe it highly improbable 'less you were faunus. There are no issues though," She retorted matter-of-factually before she would move on to the next test.

This test would be relatively easy enough, but as her focus was on the device, she would be mostly unaware of her patient's growing discomfort until he spoke. To which she frowned but never looked up.
"Don't be silly, of course not," She responded calmly. Due to his mask of calm, she did not see an issue with it as by the end of it she would take the cuff away and make more notes. She would then move on to the next test.

"So far, so good," She thought to herself, tiny rubber mallet in-hand. As she would return, she would hear his question and smile kindly to hopefully reassure him; as her father always told her might help. "Inquiries are welcome. This is for testing reflexes," She responded simply before deciding to explain further, but first she would tap just below the kneecap to make the leg kick out. "Hmm, how to put this," the doctor thought before nodding to herself. "That quick tap quickly fired your neuromuscular system, causing rapid stretch of adjacent muscles, triggering nerve receptors in the tendons. Essentially kicking off a very rapid nerve impulse transmission up your spinal cord, where it triggered a reaction to contract the muscle that was just stretched," She further explained. "Safe to say all is well thus far." Dr. Lenz commented, hoping that eased her new patient's mind before she would move back to the counter and make more notes. "Okay, so now we shall move on to the not-so-comfortable tests. Which involves the taking of temperature, light in the eyes, and so on. For more thorough testing since it seems you haven't had it done before for; blood tests, allergy tests and the like, if you'd like, we could do them today or you could always schedule those for another day," She would tell her patient, allowing him the choice to do everything today, or to space it out through several days.

'Is this her attempting humor by being unaware, or is she merely a serious person by nature?' Garret would wonder as he was being checked by Dr. Lenz. To both of his attempts at humor the doctor seemed to answer in a calm and matter of fact type of tone. She did not seem to go along with the humor, but her tone and expression didn't seem like she was trying to quell any attempts at it. It seemed the more likely probability, given she gave no hint or indication it was her own form of jest, that the jokes went over her head. 'That or a severe degree of professionalism.' He silently pondered to himself. It would be interesting to have a doctor that did not seem to catch onto humor, as that would be enjoyable in its own regard to see how she would respond to it. People, in his mind, were always interesting to study. He felt no need to mention they were jests or attempts at humor to her, especially when she had the cuff attached to his arm, as he believed it would be more interesting if she were unaware. The thought of what else may go over her head crossed his mind, but he was content with his current line of thought and observation. He could always change his mind later if he so desired. While she did respond to his comments, thus far she did not seem like the type of person who did small talk. Save for instructions or responses to himself, she seemed to be quiet and focused on her task. 'She clearly takes her job seriously.' He thought to himself, as he had seen no anxiety or nervousness cross her features in his admittedly short time here. She seemed calm and confident in what she was doing, which made him more so think she was focused primarily on her task and the social side may only be a distraction to her. Which he was content with, as she seemed thus far not to be the probing type though he could not judge that till the entire procedure was done with.

He saw her face smile in a kind manner after he inquired as to the purpose of her device, which did bring some measure of relief to him. He could not gauge it as being genuine or not quite yet, but given she had treated things in a reasonable way he felt he did not have to fear her doing anything to him quite yet. Not that she would win in a physical altercation, and he did not have the greatest knowledge in the medical field for many things. Though as far as he knew for a checkup, it was mostly taking things from him rather than administering anything so he felt he did not have to worry much on that end. 'Regardless, I would have no way to ascertain anything until it had already been introduced and taking effect.' He thought to himself silently. With how often the school seemed to be attacked and raided, even though covertly, he did not trust for all its medical equipment and such to be fully tamper proof. It was one of the reasons he chose to go here, besides the fact that this clinic focused less on technology than others. He also preferred to keep his own medical matters private from others, so it made sense for him to not have everything in one place. It was also why he resided in the city much of the time when he wasn't working there. Moving away from the tangent his mind was taking, Garret refocused on the present as Dr. Lenz told him the purpose of the test and that questions were welcome. It was apparently for a test of reflex, though he wondered how such a small thing would be used to measure that. She seemed to think it was enough of an explanation currently though as she would close the distance between the two, Garret's eyes watching her and her tool specifically. He saw her aiming for roughly his knee and then saw it going forward. He had enough time to register what she was doing but not react as he felt it tap just below his kneecap. Involuntarily his leg would immediately kick out almost instantly from the pressure there, leaving Garret wondering what just happened. 'I need to watch for this in the future.' He mentally noted to himself. While he had felt no pain, it annoyed him at how his body was so easily manipulated to act. He was about to ask more when he saw her nod to herself and begin to speak.

Garret did not consider himself an uneducated person, but the doctor's explanation left him feeling as such. There were a myriad of what he assumed to be medical terminology used to describe the process of why his leg did that. While he did not understand or recognize much of the middle, he did understand roughly understand the start and end of it; 'The tap there sends a signal to my spine then brain to kick my leg out.' He reasoned in his mind, knowing at least that the body could do that much. All the other terminology and specifics in the center of her explanation were lost to him, but he assumed it was the process by which it got to that point. He had no clue of the how for it though, and likely would not unless explained in far more detail. 'And to think I was going to ask for clarification.' He thought to himself slightly bemusedly. She would then add that all was fine, which was a relief for him as he was unsure how one would pass such a test and to what degree they measured such things. The thought of using his semblance the next time it happened also popped into his mind, but he would not due anything now to endanger the accuracy of his results. He knew the importance of it and having a baseline for when he was healthy, or felt as much. "Thank you for the clarification, though i'm afraid I lack the prior knowledge needed to understand much of it. I do in general understand the process now though." He would respond to her with a calm smile before she departed to her notes. Dr. Lenz seemed to waste no time as she began telling him of the more uncomfortable tests that were to come, and offering to either do the more thorough testing today or spread out. While Garret didn't like the sound of the tests nor knowing they were guaranteed to be uncomfortable, he also did not want to come here so often. He preferred to do as much as he could now so he would not have to worry about it later, even if it meant subjecting himself to her orders for a while longer. "I would prefer to do it all today if that suits your schedule. I find it better to be done with things such as this quickly so there is little chance of it being delayed due to unforeseen circumstances." He would respond in a matter of fact tone of his own. He did want it to be clear what he intended to do, and as such refrained for the moment from his usual teasing arrogance that he usually wore. Even if it was more of a farce for how he truly was at times. But... he also found it hard to resist at times as it was a part of him. "So shall we begin? I desire to see how long I can last the onslaught of these tests of yours. I've yet to face a challenge I could not overcome." He would say with an arrogant voice and smile, clearly joking to most. It was also his way of mentally preparing himself for what was to come. While he could do so calmly and in a relaxed manner, he more so found this version to be the more entertaining way to do so. He also wondered how she would react and if she would catch on this time.

The doctor would look to her patient every once in a while, but for the most part, her focus was on the task at hand. Her kind smile an attempt to quell any unease he may be feeling, though if he was trying to jest, she would not understand; most things outside of reading people medically would be missed by her. As she remembered her sister telling her once, she was...more socially inept than most, which made her internally scowl before pushing the thought away. Her blue-gray eyes returning to Mr. Lancer once she would feel his eyes on her again. Is he nervous, she had wondered more than once, though never asked because he never spoke up.

Her gentle smile became more genuine as she had explained the task of her little doctor's mallet, but it never left her thereafter at least. Though it would not be something she would realize herself.
"You are welcome, I am happy to clarify anything you may have questions on, medically speaking," She responded when he thanked her for her answer; medical terminology aside. Though she was glad when her patients were not nervous of the tests she saw as normal; she had to remember that not everyone was raised surrounded by the medical world as well.

Now that they moved on to the question of whether he wanted to continue or set up another time to do it, she would wait patiently for his response. After his answer she would check a small blue book; her agenda. After looking at it, she would close it and slip it back into her medical coat pocket. Her attention returning to her patient with a gentle smile.
"I understand. And of course, we have plenty of time," She responded politely, as her next appointment was an hour until now.

She seemed to pondered for a second before deciding to be upfront and explain so he would have time to prepare mentally.
"He should have plenty of time to think about it...by why does he think this is an onslaught?" Drac thought briefly, temporarily looking confused before her mind focused again. Nodding slightly to herself, she would then bow her head slightly. "I shall return with the equipment necessary for the tests, there is a bottle of water on the counter, I suggest you hydrate," She told him calmly before making her way out of the room and softly closing the door behind her.

It would be a few minutes that he would be left in the room by himself before she would return with a tray carrying what would look like needles and maybe a vial or two as well as equipment for extracting a small amount of blood for testing.
"I hope he isn't afraid of needles," the doctor thought absently. As her attention returned to the young man, she would also be expertly setting up for his blood to be drawn first. "This might feel like a little pinch, but I promise will not last long," She informed him, hoping she didn't have a runner as she would bring the tray over on a rolling table and a place to rest his arm. "If you could just rest your arm like so," Dr. Lenz instructed calmly.

After his arm rested palm-up, she would then begin to wipe the area she planned to prod with an alcohol wipe after finding a strong vein to extract from. She would also place in his hand a small blue ball; for squeezing.
"You have strong veins, that's fortunate. After this we can take a short break, and you can grab a cookie from out front. Our receptionist always brings them fresh. And hydration will also will help," She commented from her observations before making a suggestion for afterwards. It was important that they regain what was lost. The needle that slipped easily under his flesh into the vein was connected to a short clear tubing and led into the enclosed vial. Her expression was calm, her smile small but reassuring, natural when she looked up from the vial. As promised, it took only a couple seconds, staunch any further bleeding with a gauze square and band-aid over said spot, and then she would remove the needle and stopper the two vials now filled with blood. Done with the extraction, she would roll the tray away carefully and make a note to send it to be tested. It was at this time that she would allow him to do as needed to recover from the loss of blood.

Garret was mildly surprised to see a crack in her professionalism in what he could read was a genuine smile from her. More so due it seeming different from her initial one she was sporting earlier, though he mostly assumed so by her words following it and how it never quite faded entirely thereafter. 'It is reassuring to know my inquiries shall be given answers.' He silently thought to himself. Just knowing what was to come did, in his experience, help him to prepare for it. Even if he could not prepare for everything, he still preferred to plan ahead before rushing into things... despite his reputation currently with combat. It was also interesting to note that she seemed to enjoy her job, or so he surmised. He could be entirely wrong in that assumption, but seeing her lingering smile and with the way she responded to his question if she were being truthful made him believe so. He did smile, mostly towards himself, as he noted her clarification of it being medically speaking. Part of him desired to ask her of other matters, but save for personal inquiry, he had no questions on his mind that were demanding answers. 'I may think of some when next I see her.' He silently told himself, feeling a slight curiosity at the thought. Thus far, he was satisfied with his experience in this clinic... so he supposed it was no leap that if things continued going this way he would be here again eventually. Pushing that line of thought to the side, as many things could happen from now till when he finished, he reasoned that as the tests came he would ask her about them as needed. He was not completely clueless of all the tests they performed; just the ones that were not typically done for emergencies or battlefield wounds. After he had responded to her question on whether to continue, he saw her take out a small blue book and begin to look at its contents. 'All these notes and writings... I wonder what lies in many of them, and what may be gleaned from them.' He thought to himself, feeling his curiosity rise. He had a feeling it was somehow related to his answering of her question, and knew the others he had seen thus far were about him, but he was the type that liked to have his questions answered. However, if he were free to know it she would share it to him. Or so he hoped. He then saw her close it and, in an almost practiced motion, quickly slipped it back into her uniform pocket. And again her gentle smile returned. 'So the tests it shall be.' He thought to himself before she would even speak the words. It was fitting that his first day should be his longest at the clinic, or so he believed it may be. He hoped to never need urgent attention which would bring the need for a longer visit.

Dr. Lenz would then seem to pause as if in thought for a moment, as to what Garret was unsure. 'Perhaps deciding on what tests shall be done in a given order?' He asked himself, finding it a reasonable reason as to why she did so even if it was not actually the case. He would then see her nod, as if she was mentally approving of whatever thought she had... before seeming to not understand or question it and nodding again thereafter. 'A slight change or sudden realization?' Garret would again wonder to himself, but unable to make more of a guess than that or know more without being able to read minds. An ability he thankfully did not have, primarily because it took the joy of trying to guess someones else's thoughts and that it would take away the peace brought about in being isolated in your own mind. Seeing her bow slightly broke Garret from his thoughts as he looked to her in curiosity, before understanding why as she spoke and then left the room. Safely out of ear shot, and desiring to use his voice, he would speak his thoughts aloud. "Though I recognize what equipment may be needed for drawing blood, I wonder what other equipment will be necessary?" He would begin to nonchalantly walk towards where she had left a bottle of water and picked it up. 'There is little harm in drinking it I suppose; the risk is the same as being treated by her.' He reasoned to himself as he opened it and slowly drank the entirety of it. He drank water far less often than he should throughout the day, but when he had it available he made up for it in those few times. That being done, and the doctor being yet to return, he spent his time pacing and looking about the room. It was a rather nice room, being much less sterile and clinical in feeling than the hospitals he had been to. While it was not entirely of his own tastes aesthetically, he could appreciate it and found it pleasant to be in nonetheless. 'And little chance of ambush by normal means.' He thought to himself with a shrug. He could always do with a good spar or training later on. He was not left waiting long as soon Dr. Lenz returned with a tray of equipment, most notably being needles and some small vials. 'So it shall be the blood test first.' He silently thought to himself. That was something he was familiar with as they commonly did it to him to test for toxins. Or they had in the past at least, as he had managed to avoid that for quite some time now. Seeing that the testing would begin soon, he would bow slightly and calmly retake his seat in the room. Much as he would prefer to stand for it, he knew he was expected to be seated.

She would then tell him of what he may feel from her drawing blood but that it should be a swift process. Seeing the vials she had for them not being particularly large in size made him agree, even if he kept such things to himself for the moment. She would roll her tray of tools over and instruct him how to rest his arm in order for her to draw blood, to which he would oblige her. "What shall be gleaned from my blood in your testing, if I may ask?" He would inquire of her as she began to wipe the area with what he could easily recognize as alcohol from scent alone. It was a very hard scent for anyone to mistake, medically inept or no. He would then feel her place a blue ball into his open palm as he lightly grasped it, curious for the moment as to its purpose. 'Does squeezing it help the blood more freely?' He wondered to himself at first, unsure of what to do with it. While having a needle inserted into him would be a foreign feeling given the time that had passed since it had last been done, it was not something he was bothered by. Curious, and bereft of much else to do as she prepared to begin, he would rhythmically begin to squeeze the ball as he found some entertainment from it. Being told he had strong veins was something he was confused on how to take, until she commented that it was fortunate. He assumed it would make the process to draw blood easier from the context of things, and felt no need to ask on it. 'Though does it also mean I am easier to be bled out?' He thought to himself momentarily before pushing the thought away. He had not died from blood loss yet, nor did he ever intend to. She then began suggesting a small break afterwards with the option of a cookie and refreshment. The idea itself did not seem a bad one in his mind, even if he would prefer to push through everything quickly. 'I assume there is a reason she suggests a break at all, so it would be wise to follow her recommendation.' He silently thought to himself. He would merely nod to her that he agreed as he felt the needle penetrate his skin and enter his vein. His golden eyes would look to where the blood was being siphoned away to, seeing it begin to fill up a vial. It was a strange feeling, to see ones life essence being taken away no matter how small the amount. 'How would it feel had I lost more in this manner?' He silently wondered to himself. His gaze was taken from the vial filling with blood as he noticed Dr. Lenz turning her gaze towards him again. Her smile was not as large as before, but it seemed to not be a forced one in the least and had that reassuring nature to it. While he distrusted that at times he felt he need not for now. Not until he was given a reason to at the least.

She had not been lying when she spoke of it being short, as after a few seconds it was over and the puncture wound was being pressed down on with a bandage and gauze to keep more blood from flowing. This he knew as trying to suppress and stop bleeding was common on the battlefield, even with aura. Seeing her begin to roll away the tray, Garret realized it was time for him to take the short break she had recommended. "I shall heed your recommendation for a break, though may I do so in the garden I saw before? I prefer nature to the concrete, if I am to be open, though if access to there is restricted I can remain in doors." He would inquire of her in a polite tone. While he desired to be there rather than indoors, he would only do so with her consent. He would stick to his word of spending his time in doors if she desired he remain inside.Thankfully for Garret, she consented on the terms that he did not pick any of her plants and remained on the cobbled path. He was content to do so as he liked to leave most of nature preserved how it is, save the rose as was his symbol. "Thank you. You have my word that I shall do as you have asked. Merely seek me out there when it is time to continue." He would respond with a bow before departing from the room. While calm and unhurried in manner, his steps would quickly lead him out of the room. In truth, he had not been terribly affected by the blood drain as of yet but he did not know if it would come later. Still, intent while still feeling well to move about he would head for the receptionist desk, greeting her again and politely asking for one of the cookies as per Dr. Lenz suggestion. Along with another bottle of water. Giving a sincere smile and words of thanks, he would bow slightly to her as well before departing for the garden... Getting lost for a few minutes before finding his way to it. His cookie had been devoured before he even exited the building as he wished he had another to savor but shrugged it off.

Dr. Lenz.was rather focused on her task, so when she was beginning the process she was not expecting a question so soon. Though it would be a simple one as she would continue the extraction. "Simply to test for any blood-born illness, cancer, or disease. As well as see how your blood sugar, cholesterol levels are, and even see how many red blood cells and white blood cells you have. Your blood work can tell us a lot about your health," She explained as she worked on him. Though it would seem the blood tests could tell a lot more it would seem she would only give him a few examples of what they would learn.

Then they were done and she would roll the tray away.
"Hmm, can I trust him in the garden?" Drac pondered before shrugging slightly. "You may; just don't pluck my plants and stay on the cobblestone path," She replied to his request before she would take the tray with the blood vials and equipment.

The receptionist would greet him sweetly and let him take a cookie from her cookie container before he left for the garden. While he would be on break, she would escort the tray and herself to the testing room after labeling and recording everything properly.
"Hm hopefully the tests shall show a positive outcome to all tests," the doctor thought, as she always did. For as much as she enjoyed seeing her patients, she did not like seeing the illnesses; therefore, she would do her best to make her patients healthy and help with what she could. As was her choice in life and profession. After her task was done, she would prepare and collect equipment for the next test before rolling this tray to room five. Once it was all prepped and ready, she would go to find Mr. Lancer. He would be where he said he would, she thought. A small smile graced her lips as she would look to her garden with care in her eyes before her expression turned to one of professionalism. "Everything is ready, just come in when you feel ready to," She told him politely before walking back inside and heading to the room she had her equipment in.
