- Summoning (Normal): Zil has an affinity for wind based creates but is not limited to them. Through rituals he can bind willing creates and powers to his name to borrow some of their power or astral form during combat. In total the Count has around 200 different small animals he can summon in this form. When it comes to more complex summons, Zil counts in his arsenal a lesser wind elemental and a Gryphon. Zil can take on aspects of these two or summon them in their entirety to his location. His versatility comes from being able to mix and match aspects of his summons together in order to fit the situation. Zil can summon up to 30 creatures at once, and can hold around 250 creatures in a pact this way at once.
Summoning (Bloodline): Zil can summon aspects of the legendary progenitor of his bloodline Sylph. The summon spirit cannot be fully manifested yet, but Zil believes with enough time and practice he will be able to completely manifest her astral form. At the moment Zil has mastered the aspects enough to permanently sustain flight and call forth gale force winds on command. With effort the elf can even cut through other physical abilities with high pressured wind. He is still lacking when it comes to moving atmospheric levels of wind like the spirit could, but then he lacks a large enough source of power to use that kind of ability.
Variable Spells: Zil knows a small handful of wind and earth based spells that he channel into different effects or styles. They act more as a manipulation power than a spell but are among the first steps in basic malleable magecraft. Not terribly potent, these spells serve better utility uses than combat powers.
Night Raven: More of a station that a pure ability. Zil is one of a few elves granted the title. His job is to look out for the others of his race and prepare them for the unknown. One of the reasons he is stationed at the academy is to relay information back to his country, and the other is to ensure that elves are keeping up in all their studies. Socially this lets him move at will through most of the facilities in the school. He also has the right to pull any elf away from their current studies to either reprimand or protect them. One physical boon Night Ravens are gifted is the ability to meld with shadows for a few moments. Concealing himself from sight for a few seconds before he has to return. A simple illusion but an effective one.

- Zil has a skewed view of the world, thinking that everyone else should be at least as competent as him or better. There fore he tends to look at most people as below him, living out an older elvish stereotype. He is polite when it is necessary but tends not to associate with those he doesn’t find worthy. At the school where he now instructs he found that many of the teachers are quite able and enjoys talking with them about advanced theories, but tends to not connect greatly with students. He always gets results in his classes some way or another, ensure that students learn and advance while he teaches them. His pride would allow for nothing less. His cold demeanor fades when dealing with his family, whom he loves unconditionally.
History |
- Zil Gygus Solomon is the firstborn heir to the Solomon family. The 8th of his name, Zil shares his grandfathers name. The first born male of the family tend to take action as heads of the family or important positions in elvish society. Zil was trained in the same manner but due to a few events ended up forsaking that role. During Zil’s childhood and upbringing the young boy demonstrated a kindness towards animals that lead to proficiency with summoning abilities. It was suspected that this came from the ancestral bloodline that the Solomon’s cursed themselves with. Originally a family of summoners, they were expunged from elvish society after they conduced a taboo experiment. It took 20 generations for the family to regain favorable standing, and for the past 10 generations the family has slowly risen within Braela. Zil during his upbringing was the classic only child, raised to succeed the family until his first sibling came along.
Zil’s sister was an oddity among the Solomon’s as she had no power granted from their taboo craft. Things were normal enough until she just up and vanished one day. Zil, who had been in charge of caring for her at the time was initially scolded. When the girl didn't return Zil’s parents looked everywhere for her. This left Zil mostly to himself and he lived with his Nanny who taught him the value of summoning for everyday life. Time spent with his Nanny was off and on in later years until he left home, aiming to become a proper member of society. His sister's disappearance still haunting him the young elf was qucikly recognized by both academic and militaristic forces. Coaxed into researching various ruins, Zil came to love the mysteries of the world and if he wasn't around his desk he could be found in a ruin somewhere half a day's flight away.
During this time Zil would step down from inheriting the Solomon name as he was approached by Night Raven, the company of elves that watch over elven affairs from the ‘shadows’. They aren’t the assassins or political powers that are set to ensure elvish supremacy over a shifting world, but they do ensure that certain elvish rituals never leave the borders of Braela. For years Zil felt at home here until his father announced a second son and daughter in a letter to the elf, now nearly 70. Zil knew his old man still had it in him to sire more children, even after the loss of his second child. Zil himself thought from time to time about starting a family, but his duty to the country would last at least until he was 100, at a minimum.
When Zil wasn’t practicing with his multitude of summons, advancing magical research with variable spells, or trying to figure out everything he can about the weather the elf spends his time flying around the world looking for ruins or secluded places that might be linked to rituals from a long forgotten past. If he had his choice about professions the elf would have been an archeologist, but instead he spends his time teaching a bunch of brats that have difficulty attuning their magical prowess to a single element.
