It seemed as though everything had finally aligned. Uukai and Kaino were seemingly looking well upon the expedition that he was heading out on today. It was finally time for him to bring Kaleo out so that he could have a chance at digging up crystals. He'd done the work a few times, digging for things while others watched, but he hadn't had a lot of chances to bring someone digging with him. He hoped that it would be some sort of fun for Kaleo otherwise he'd feel a bit bad about it.
Of course this all came down to whether or not his parents would be alright with him tagging along. Especially since for Kaimi it was work, not play, and Kaleo was still little. What if they didn't want him working at his age? Sure, Kaimi had done it, but Kaimi's situation was a very special one. The sort that he'd rather Kaleo not have to ever deal with.
Shaking his head he told himself not to think too hard on such things and just enjoy the day. There was going to be a lot of time later to deal with family problems, for today he was going to have fun!

Kaleo giggled as his sister tickled him before he managed to get away. He darted to hide behind a chair before the child darted out the door. His sister hot on his heels. Once he was caught again. The child let out a series of squeaks, any who approached the home would see the pair of siblings having fun. Kaleo darted away from his sister yet again to laugh at her pout.

Kaimi found himself pausing in his approaching, watching as the pair seemed to be caught up in a game of their own. It was something that he had zero experience in since he wasn't on such good terms with his own sibling. He found himself giving a little sigh, debating on if he should come back another time. He'd feel bad if he bothered Kaleo or messed up his fun with his sibling just because Kaimi arrived at an inopportune time. Giving a little sigh he set to doing a back stroke to put a bit more distance between himself and Kaleo. As he did so he was instantly in debate with himself. He could leave now, before Kaleo saw him, and come back another day. It already felt a bit odd to him that he was going to bring a kid to work with him, it would be even more so if he broke up the fun he was having as well. He could always come back... or he could always leave off and not bother Kaleo. He probably had better things to do then deal with a loner like Kaimi.

Kaimi wasn't so lucky in escaping as Kaleo looked over to see him. The child gave a loud cheer before darting to the elder. "KAIMI!!!!" he hugged the elder tightly around his middle before looking back to his sister. "I'm going to play with my friend, sis!!!" The female smiled gently as she waved with a call of. "Have fun!! Be home before dark!!" Kaleo nodded as he watched his sister swim back into the house. Kaleo looked back to Kaimi. "What brings you here?"

Kaimi actually squeaked in surprise as he got tackled by the younger Menehune, obviously not expecting the physical contact. It wasn't something that he often indulged in since his was a solitary job and he'd never really gotten on with his brother. Looking down at him he gave a smile, "Hello there, Kaleo. Are you feeling better? Did your injuries heal?" He asked, worried about the boy after the way he'd found him the last time around. As he was asked what brought him there he said, "Well, half me wanting to see how you were doing and then also wanting to see if you wanted to go digging... but since you seemed busy I didn't want to bother you." He hadn't wanted to, but he'd gotten spotted easily since Kaimi was far from being a covert type.

Kaleo listened to the elder for a moment before his eyes brightening up. "That sounds like fun!!! We're finally going digging!!" the child let go of the elder to float there. "I wasn't busy. My elder sister got stuck with watching me for a little till I found something to do." He tilted his head. "Oh, I'm fine. There was only bruises. Dad chewed me out for being reckless. Lesson learned that's for sure..."

Kaimi nodded his head, "Yeah, we talked about it on a few occasisons but I thought that since the weather has been looking up for a while that it might be time to go out. Since you're little we won't go far, I don't want to exhaust you, but I'm sure we can find some things nearby." He thought on it a moment then added, "Though it will have to be outside of the village at the very least." As he explained that he was fine, having received only bruises and a scolded from his misadventure Kaimi gave a smile, "I'm glad to hear that you're alright. I was worried when I found you out there all alone." That he was alright was a huge relief to Kaimi. "If you're ready we can go digging. Or I can wait while you get ready." He was good either way since he wasn't in a rush today.

The child nodded. "Oh hang on!!!" he darted through a open window. Kaimi would hear a shocked squeak before the child darted back out with his little half shell. "Now I'm ready!!" he was excited. He was going to go outside the village with a elder. And a friend. He smiled up at the elder. Glad he could call someone as cool as Kaimi his friend. "Kaimi...I'm glad I can call you my friend." he said while swimming next to the elder.

Kaimi blinked a couple times, watching the boy as he rushed off and through the window of his house. It was a move that garnered a sound of surprise from someone inside, which made him chuckle a bit to himself. A moment later he was rushing back out, shell in hand, declaring that he was ready to go. It seemed that all that Kaleo needed for digging was the shell... and that was something that Kaimi had to admit he was curious about. "I am eager to see how the shells work out for digging." He'd only ever used his hands for digging so this might actually speed things up and make it so that he could get to the crystals he sought in a faster manner. "Hm? Oh!" Kaimi actually flushed a bit before he said, "I am glad too." He only had a small handful of friends so any time he was able to add one to the group it made him very happy. Each and every friend he made meant the world to him since he was so used to being on his own. Giving a happy sound he said, "Alright, I will lead the way so we can get to work... hopefully it's not too boring."

Kaleo giggled as he followed the elder towards their destination. "So, what sort of crystals are we looking for?" he reached out to grasp Kaimi's sleeve in case the elder swam faster than him. He wanted to keep up somehow. He was curious about this whole digging job, his Dad talked about it one night when Kaleo brought it up at dinner. Said it was a honest, hard working job that most youths would rather not go through.

"I can't really say. I'm able to sense where they are to a degree but not what sort of crystal they are, how big they are, or how deep in the earth they are. Even with the help I get from the Goddess Uukai I still have to put a lot of work in and hope for the best when it comes to the outcome." He knew it might sound crazy to describe it as such and he could only hope that Kaleo believed him. It was only after they had gotten to the edge of the village that Kaimi started to search for the crystals, letting his eyes close as he did so. It took a little while but he finally got a little 'ping' that was a crystal and he motioned with one hand, "It's in this direction." He said, swimming along at a steady pace, seeking out the location of the crystal. It only took a little bit of time before they arrived, treading water over the spot, and he said, "Here... though again, I can't say how deep we will have to dig." "If you get tired let me know. You can take as many breaks as you need." Though he'd be digging until he found the crystal himself.

Kaleo hummed as he heard Kaimi's explanation. "You can hear the Goddess. That's soo cool!!! I mean, I'm sure there are some bullies that made you feel bad about that. If there are any, you let me take care of them!!" the child tried to look tough. It sorta failed and he ended up looking rather adorable instead. Once they got to the spot Kaleo giggled. "Ok!" starting to gently shift the sand with his half shell. He could move a lot of sand, but he didn't want to accidentally dig up the crystal or damage it. "How many crystals have you found?"

"Well, not hear her exactly. It's more like she gave me a blessing that allows me to find the crystals that are hidden within the soil of the swamp." He explained, then gave a little smile as he said, "I wish I could hear her because I would love to be able to speak with her, to thank her for the gift, it would be wonderful. One day perhaps I will be able to figure out how to thank her." As Kaleo set to telling him that if there were any bullies that picked on him for his gifts that Kaleo would take care of them he gave a smile, "Thank you, Kaleo. That is a very kind offer. I only have problems with one person and I am moving away from them soon so you don't have to worry about me." Settling down on the ground he set to digging as well. He gave a humming sound as Kaleo asked the question of him, "I... can't say. Quite a few of them of various sizes and colors. I even finally have enough of them to trade for what I have been collecting them for!" He looked quite happy over that as he continued digging in the dirt, not taking long before the water around them started to get a bit cloudy.

Kaleo nodded in understanding. "Gotcha..." as they dug the child hummed a soft tune. "Hey...Kaimi, I'm not a annoying kid am I?" he looked up to the elder a moment. "My elder brother says I am sometimes because I like asking questions..." He looked at the small hole they were digging. Seeing little rocks and such in the sand. "Are there crystals within rocks?" he tilted his head.

Kaimi gave a thoughtful sound in his throat before shaking his head, "I can't say that you've ever annoyed me in the time that we've known one another, Kaleo. I find you to be a nice kid." He wondered if his older brother was hassling him too much or was the comment said in a teasing manner? He only had experience with Moke and that sort of left him unsure about how big brothers should act as opposed to how his did act. "Crystals within rocks? Yes, those are called geodes. I rather like them since they are pretty as decorations... though they aren't as tradeable I've found. People like crystals that are easy to make into jewelry." Often times he kept the geodes he found or added them in as a bonus to sweeten a trade. Giving a smile he said, "If we find one you can have it if you like."
