Our world is home to a wide variety of people. We hope you'll come to see all of them as your equals during your time at Queen Cordelia Academy. Here are some of the more common or well known races you might run into here:

                                • Human
One of the most common races on the planet, humans are often considered average in most regards. Humans are less skilled with magic than elves and other races, but most are capable of spellcasting. Rarely, humans can be born with innate abilities or mutated physiology, granting them powers that aren't necessarily magical.

                                • Elf
Another fairly common race. Elves are similar to humans, but are usually more skilled at magic. They are often more dexterous as well, but tend to be on the frailer side. While they usually mature at the same rate as humans, they grow old slowly once they're adults, and live a lot longer. You can tell a human and an elf apart by looking at the ears. They're pointy!

                                • Angel
Any being that comes from a celestial realm, was created by a deity, or is a full blooded descendant of those who meet the previously mentioned criteria, is considered an angel. Depending on which celestial realm they came from and which god they served, their powers can vary, though some have had their abilities stripped away from them upon coming this realm. Winged humanoids wielding holy magic are the most popular depiction of angels, but they can come in any shape or form, just like the beings native to this realm.

                                • Demon
Any being that originates from a demon realm, or is a full blooded descendant of those who meet the previously mentioned criteria. Like angels, they are not of this world, and come in many different shapes. Their powers vary, but they are generally skilled in magic and often lean towards the fire or darkness elements.

                                • Fae
Any being that originates from a fae realm, or is a full blooded descendant of those who meet the previously mentioned criteria. While there are only two Fae realms, there are still a fairly wide variety of Fae. They are skilled in a variety of magics, particularly illusion and nature magics.

                                • Nephilim
Any being whose heritage includes beings from more than one realm. As many nonhuman races considered native to this realm are speculated to be descended from demons, fae, angels, or some mix, the nephilim label is typically reserved for those with an extraplanar ancestor within the past few generations.

                                • Dragon
The ferocious champions of Drappon's environment, dragons are large reptilian creatures, possessing fearsome magic, as well incredible physical strength. They are highly intelligent, long-lived, and generally able to take on a human form, however some chose not to. They come in a few different shapes and sizes: quadrupedal, wyverns, wyrms, and bipedal.
-Quadrupedal: Four legged dragons, either with or without wings. They are less skilled with magic, but are typically the most physically powerful.
-Wyverns: Dragons with two legs and two wings, they are the most skilled fliers, and are also more agile on the ground than their cousins.
-Wyrms: Limbless dragons who are able to fly through their magical power alone. They have the strongest magic out of the dragons, but are weaker physically.
-Bipedal: Dragons with a somewhat humanoid shape. Their abilities are balanced, and while they don't overtake any of their cousins in their specialities, they are generally regarded as the strongest overall.

While everyone has at least heard of most of these races, they aren't the only ones! Below are some of the lesser known races, as well as some specific types of the above races. If you know of a race that isn't listed, feel free to give a brief description and we'll add it.

                                • Vampire
The original vampires are native to a demon realm and are believed extinct, but the condition that affects beings from this plane lives on. Vampires are technically dead, and cannot reproduce, only able to spread their condition. It contracted via blood, and while it offers distinct physical advantages and other powers, the condition makes prolonged exposure to the sun lethal. If they can avoid being killed, vampires can live indefinitely.

                                • Dhampir
Nephilim descended from the original vampires, now largely considered their own race. They are immune to contracting vampirism, but have some of their ancestors' powers. They are sensitive to sunlight, but it is not lethal.

                                • Lycanthrope
Werebeasts, to put it simply. Like vampirism, the originators of this condition are long-gone, but people affected by it are still around. Unlike vampires, lycanthropes are capable of reproduction, and the condition can be passed down. It is possible to become a lycanthrope through infection, though this is far less common than contracting vampirism.

                                • Siren
Humanoid beings that come in two varieties. There are aquatic sirens that resemble mermaids, and winged sirens that resemble harpies. Both are capable of taking on a human looking form. Their voices are extremely powerful, capable of influencing people's emotions and even entrancing them. Their magical prowess is nothing noteworthy, though winged sirens have an affinity for air magic, while aquatic sirens have an affinity for water magic. They age similarly to elves.

                                • Solar Dragon
A species of wyverns with a strong connection to the sun and the sky, from which several powerful abilities stem. They maintain a barrier of storms around their homeland of Drappon and are capable of indefinite flight. As such, they don't visit the ground often. They are generally revered in Drappon, and seen more as a force of nature than as a people.

                                • Insectoids
A race of humanoid bugs that can shift between two forms- a humanoid form, and a large insect form. You can often identify them by the bug features their human form display, though these aren't always obvious or visible. Each Insectoid has unique abilities, depending on the type of insect they are. While they're all technically the same species, Insectoids usually live with others of their bug type, and tend not to breed with those who differ from them. Some speculate that they have demonic origins due to the nature of some of their powers.

A new subspecies of the Insectoid race had recently been discovered. They emerged from a demon plane that was sealed off centuries ago. Rifts to their realm only began opening a few years ago. They claim to have been locked away by the Phantoms after participating in the Phantom War. Due to their breeding habits, it is very common for this type of Insectoid to be mixed with multiple types of bugs. Health problems or birth defects are common due to the harsh living conditions and toxic air they've been breathing.

                                • Wind Rabbit
This race originates in a Summermount mountain region; created by an initial culture from which the rabbits originated. Important places - ruins, of the earlier Celestial society that are currently being looked over; are now know to be what their species’ culture mainly guards and looks after. Recently, due to need for possible interaction/agreements, some of the younger generation made the decision to transfer to more modern settings, while this called for bypassing the language barrier. From that effort, a variety of terms - including self-designation - in more common language, also came about. Going by overall capabilities within the population, ‘Wind Rabbit’ was decided on. Reading the air, using it as a weapon, support, or defense are common capabilities within the population: by how much depending on the individual’s potential capability. However, there is a grounded aspect to the species, which, despite variations in height, earthy hues, and ear length, all have the same background ‘effect’ in their morphology. As of golems; upon death, or if matter is separated from the individual for some time, the body or what was lost respectively immediately or eventually ‘turns back’ into clay, dirt, and other earthy materials.
