tab • • 》 He has habit of taking care of another when he deems it necessary, regardless whether they ask or want him to. It can be something like tidying up after them.
tab • • 》He likes to be prepared for all occasions since he is often alone and if anything happen, he doubt anyone will notice or come for help in time. He always keep his Pokémon with him at all time for instance. His grandfather started him with keeping his Pokémon around, then Cyril steps up the 'just in case'.

Biography
tab • • 》 Cyril lost his parents when he was three, too young to grasp the concept of death, but know enough that they are gone. He didn't know how long he stayed in hospital. The accident that claimed his parent's lives didn't leave him unscathed. His survival attributed to his mother shielding him. He missed them, sought them in his unwaking moments, only to realize they won't show up ever again. Until someone else came for him. An old man weary and tired who claimed himself to be his grandfather. Between his grandfather whom he didn't know or going to orphanage, he rather be with family.

His grandfather took him to Icirrus City which became his home. Cyril couldn't fully appreciate his new environment caught as he was in grief. Thus, it was never in his thought. His grandfather largely left him to his own device that he later learned to be from uncertainty rather than dislike. His grandfather's Pokémon at least smothered him with affection that their trainer didn't show. Valen, a houndoom helped keep him warmth when the weather was cold and he hadn't gotten used to it yet. Cyril liked that he also allowed him to cuddle him when his dream kept him awake at night, taking comfort in the houndoom's presence and time will slowly numb the pain to distant memories.

When he was older, Cyril sought for someone to be his parental figure, to fill in the loss. He looked to his grandfather even as strict as he was, always demanding that Cyril behave for he has no patience for troublemaker. He got that enough from his job at the local school. He is as strict and stern as he was at home. Still, Cyril tried to no avail. His grandfather continued to be a distant figure as if he was determined to make sure Cyril behaved and his material need taken care of. It couldn't keep on going on like this with each unsaid words, bottled up disappointment and piling misunderstanding. It was a matter of when will it snaps.

Cyril was 6 then and frustrated over his grandfather's continued coldness. Cyril wanted his grandfather to be closer to him as family rather than someone he was obliged to take care of and nothing more. He had waited for so long, tried so many times then to be a good kid, but nothing changed much. He got reprimanded less, some word of appreciation when he helped, and...that was all he got, odd behavior aside. He thought his grandfather wanted to say something at times when he got conflicted, then hesitated and just decided against something. He knows that his presence reminded him of his father, a slip of tongue at times, he called him "Averil" -- likely his father's name -- did a double take and pretended it never happened. Cyril asked once. His grandfather's expression of surprise that turned to grief made him guilty for bringing it up. He got his answer nevertheless as short as it was and he never brought up the subject again. Another thing that his grandfather didn't want to talk about. He has a lot of them, Cyril noticed.

Thinking back it was foolish of him to let his peer's thoughtless comment to push him further on edge. He didn't return home like he usually do that day. Instead, he walked around town, wondering if his grandfather will care enough to search for him if he left or if he will be relieved to be free of him. Unfortunately or fortunately, Valen who accompanied him, refused to let him leave the city bound. It was a bad idea, he knew, especially during winter. He gave up and settled for sulking by the riverbank, watching the cluster of trees beyond and entertained idea if he wanted to risk crossing frozen water. Valen whined by his side, growing anxious as the sun set, yet not sensing any danger to warrant forcing him home. He sat in silence, not making a move to leave even when the area was empty enough for wild pokemon to come out. He spotted a passing shadow of what seems to be a sawsbuck and a couple of ice types. He might have dozed off too since Valen's warning growl woke him up. A snorunt had approached them, but it looked like it's about to cry from fear, so Cyril shushed Valen and told him to stay, while he went to the pokemon to see if it wanted to play or something. Snorunt is supposed to be one of the friendly one. It proved to be a great distraction to throw snowball and chased each other until exhaustion stopped them. It had been awhile since he had this much fun, he could almost forget his worry. Laying down on snow watching stars on the sky like this, he wonder if being a trainer means he would feel so free.

The moment didn't last long for his grandfather found him not long afterward with fury that Cyril had never seen on the man. He was frozen with fear for his action, letting his grandfather to lecture him on breaking curfew. It was always following his rule that he was concerned about. Was it all he cared about? Cyril didn't care that he had said that aloud. As if a dam had broken, he spilled out all his pent up frustration and worries, no matter whether they made sense or not. He didn't stop until he was out of breath, unaware that he had cried. His grandfather on the other hand was showing far much emotion than Cyril had ever seen. He looked that he wanted to speak, but he didn't know how he should approach a delicate situation such as this. Silence stretched by, until he settled by bringing Cyril into a hug and repeating sorry. An apology for not realizing that he had neglected his grandson.

Cyril's lives didn't changed much even after that, but it did bring in new perspectives to his grandfather's action and they are both trying to make up for it. He learned that his grandfather simply didn't know how to express his emotion and neither does Cyril for lack of example and he had always been a quiet child didn't help. It was easier for his grandfather to teach him when Cyril prompted him. That is how he picked up house chores and started to learn pokemon care too since the snorunt had tagged along with him with his grandfather's permission, became his pokemon. It was a tad early due to the new regulation with training ages, but his grandfather believed him capable to handle it. Soon, Cyril realized that pokemon training was a common ground between them and his grandfather's preferred subject. He told him much, most from his own experience as trainer back when it wasn't as regulated as it currently was. It was a rite of passage in many regions for children to learn and experience the world. A dangerous one for those unprepared, he honestly said. The law to bump up the age was long overdue. It had to take a major discovery and apprehending of criminal activity that preyed on young trainer even when trainer had been dying for more longer than that. His grandfather warned him of many things and told him to learn as much as he can when he has the chance. Of course, if Cyril wished to skip his trainer's journey, his grandfather will accept his choice, but he didn't think Cyril would when he was so enthusiastic in learning more about being a trainer.

It was not an end to his trouble, however, as once he returned his focus back to school and his classmate especially, he was surprised at how much he had ignored in his single minded focus to earn his grandfather's approval. His social life had never been the best, he admitted, but he thought he got along fairly well, despite not being an easy person to be friend with. He had been in this school since kindergarden, so he knew most of his classmates. Hard not to when they met each other everyday for years.

Sometimes he wished it was not so with each passing year when his classmates changed to the point that he couldn't call them friends any longer. Friendship shuffled over frequent conflict and argument. Unfortunately, he too got caught a fair share of them, tip toeing on glass and stumbling on landmine, until there were nothing left. He found himself missing simpler times when he could trust people at face value or perhaps he had been blind and he hadn't faced consequences then. It wasn't until he found out he had put his trust upon a lie had been what wake him up. Oh, he wasn't as naive as to believe nobody ever lies,no. It was just not to the extend of facade. He didn't understand before that lies could take so many different form. It made him wary, doubting people around him, so his social life suffers as he distances himself from people. His blatant refusal to follow their example in their bid to lie (sugarcoat) his words made him disliked, made him seemed unkind and it garnered him no shortage of grievance, but he had made a vow to himself that he would never lie to be liked. He would be true to himself.

Cyril hadn't quite figure out how to navigate sociality even after years. It was hard when his classmates would remember his mistake and held him accounted for it. He was ready to give up on trying with his classmates when it was time for him to enroll in Ordeal Academy. It brought him hope that completely fresh pool of people will be more accepting of him rather than his school's stagnant water.
