The Winchester family is primarily known for generous donations to both wizarding and muggle research. Their ancient roots are in research, scholarship and education; many worked in design and development, but some worked in the cultivation and gathering of raw magical materials. Other ancestors were involved in the establishment of muggle universities and colleges.
The wealth of the family was only first consolidated when both wizarding and magical wars left the entire fortune and a thriving materials company in the lap of a young Eliam Winchester. The Winchester Estate in 1945 as both a family home and meeting spot for surviving advisors; by the time the company was sold, Eliam and his wife Idwein had secured an incredible amount of wealth and investments. They turned their attention to research and started with funding projects and people that interested them. As the number of projects and people grew, later members formalized the contributions under an umbrella group:

My background story is a giant adventure starting from when I got away from home to attend Hogwarts! I totally aced my classes, charmed all the ladies, beat all the bludgersâyeah those balls were legit afraid of me! I helped my mom set up these safe houses for folks during the Second Wizarding War, took down a Death Eater, broke my girlfriend out of Azkabanâ okay that oneâs a lie but I did repel a dementor during a battle and straight up punched a dude when they accused her of stealing magic. My background story is My parents were muggle bartenders at a bar in Dublin. I was surprised to attend Hogwarts but had wonderful mentors who took care of me. It was before the tragedy of the Second Wizarding World and I was bullied a bit before this pure blood girl stood up for me.
I decided I wanted to be an auror and DADA professor in my third year and worked tirelessly to achieve that. This Gryffindor kid, Winchester, declared himself my rival because we were both top of the class in DADA, Transfiguration and Charms. Rivalry turned to romance and we kept in touch after graduation. We fought in the second wizarding war together and then started traveling together on work trips after. He convinced me to marry him and we had a child accidentally while on an extended trip tracking a murderer and thief. The field was no place for a baby, but my father-in-law was gracious enough to care for Verine.

He spends a lot of time cultivating this calm by thinking things through or just getting away while hiking or swimming.. Heâs no saint though, and as frustration builds up he tends to seclude himself to brood or snaps back sarcastically at those closest.
FAMILY FOCUSED Family has always been Elmondâs driving force and priority, from doing whatever his parents wanted of him to running simple errands for his grandparents/ brother/ coworkers to carving time out to spend with his daughter or her friends. These relationships will always be his priority, and heâs okay with not getting the recognition for it as long as they are happy and he can be there for them. Heâs also a romantic at heart, and never tires of thinking of ways to make his wife smile.
METHODICAL Thereâs a process to everything, and for efficiency and clarityâs sake, Elmond likes to follow it. He is a careful planner and always has a contingency plan. This allows him to be focus on the mundane details and logistics of everyday work or life but also know where heâs at in the bigger picture while juggling multiple events or timelines across work and home. Heâs not afraid to work hard, and trusts that there is method in the madness, purpose to the paperwork, and reward for the relentless.
DIPLOMATIC Elmond handles all of his professional relationships with deliberate diplomacy, finding a way to say âyesâ in some way. Helping other people out has never hurt when he needs a favor later, and if that never happens, heâs willing to chalk things up to simple kindness. ADAPTABLE With his life revolving so heavily around other people, El has to be flexible with any individual plans. EARLY CHILDHOOD I was the younger son of hotel owners. My mom passed away when I was 14, and my dad became obsessed with keeping the hotel running on his own and carry on her work. My brother, Xing, was suddenly excited about running the place. They had me focus on learning foreign languages to support momâs dream for an international branch. Even my grandparents seemed to withdraw a little, with grandfather helping dad out again and grandmother busying herself with clients or just missing for long stretches at a time.
SCHOOL YEARS My life basically changed overnight when I invited an injured, foreign girl in to take shelter from the rain and get treatment from my grandmother. In the months that followed she befriended my brother and charmed my family despite the language barrier. My dad made me apply to a business school in England and when I started there she kept stubbornly in contact, going so far as befriending people and dragging me along for it. Eventually I caught onto her vivacity; Verine and I started dating part way through college, and I proposed a year after graduation;That was when I found out she was a witch and there was an entire world of magic. It was a shock and everything was weird, but everything was okay.
POST-GRADUATION I negotiated my brotherâs marriage to one of my college friends when they both asked. It led to a business contract with her parents over some land for the international branch. They both insist it was a good deal that allowed them to achieve their goals. My dad was so pleased he let me remain in England and marry Verine. But I know thereâs tension in my brotherâs relationship and always wonder...if we had tried explaining things to my dad or grandfather, maybe Xing and Rhim could have had happier marriages. A few months after my wedding, my grandparents passed away. I thought I knew what funerals were like after my motherâs...I never thought I would fear death at my age.
When my daughter was born, my parents-in-law came to help take care of her. That was when I realized that Verine had been sparing me by practicing most of her magic at work. We had terrible arguments about the house turning into a wizarding house but it worked out eventually. Her parents didnât like the kind of life we agreed to and moved away--it was sad, but it was for the best. We got in a lot of arguments, particularly when I insisted Sonora go to a muggle school for her early education. The weekend walks I take Sonora on--I spent more than Iâd like just wondering what in the world I had gotten myself into. I wonder if life would be simpler if Iâd just walked away then. But as long as itâs not in my face... I think Iâve gotten used to magic.

My aunt told Father one day that it was better Mother had died--she had been useless for the wealth of the family, and now Father was free to marry again. I decided that day that I couldn't leave the hotel--and all its patrons-- to that kind of greed, and that I'd do such a good job that Father wouldn't be pressured to remarry..
Grand plans and goals established, I was honestly a terrible student. I got through college by relying on my friends. They're honestly the best, and for some reason they seemed to think I was helpful too. I learned to genuinely enjoy working at the hotel--the staff alone had fascinating stories, and I met new people every day.
My brother found me a wife that would be agreeable to my disinterest, and excellent for the business. We have a rocky relationship, but we definitely respect each other. We had one child, for the sake of legacy. Rhim is hard on him, but he's a good lad. Spends a lot of time talking to himself in his room.
A few months ago, a wonderful gentleman calling himself a wizard came to teach our boy magic. I was delightedly surprised when he insisted on going and that he gets a chance to develop this power. But at the same time, I realize that this means I don't have someone to pass the family legacy to. I still haven't figured out how to explain it to my father....

My background story is I was born the third of four children to an art curator and landowner. My oldest sister died when I was 15. My second sister eloped after she finished secondary school. My parents were devastated, and their hopes and dreams piled onto me and my brother.
I was married at 25, in a lucky match arranged by my college crush's fiance. It was an excellent deal, I still think. Ma and Ba were able to do something with the land, my brother had a guaranteed job running the place, and I still got to work. I guess I also made good out of my four years of secondary school Chinese? My husband encouraged me to work in law even after I was married, which has been a blessing. Professionally we work very well together--he is a good leader, friendly, well connected, and genuinely generous, while I work well behind the scenes making sure logistics run smoothly. We both like art, we're both devoted to our families, we're both leaders at work, we're both quiet people outside of work. It looks perfect on paper, but he treats me awkwardly in private, and our relationship seems best conducted at a distance. Mostly he frustrates and annoys me, but sometimes...occasionally, I wish I could be more for him.

The Winchester family is primarily known for generous donations to both wizarding and muggle research. Their ancient roots are in research, scholarship and education; many worked in design and development, but some worked in the cultivation and gathering of raw magical materials. Other ancestors were involved in the establishment of muggle universities and colleges.
The full wealth of the family was only first consolidated when both wizarding and magical wars left the entire fortune and a thriving materials company in the lap of a young Eliam Winchester. The Winchester Estate in 1945 was built to serve as both a family home and meeting spot for surviving advisors; by the time the company was sold, Eliam and his wife Idwein had secured an incredible amount of wealth and investments. They turned their attention to research and started with funding projects and people that interested them. As the number of projects and people grew, later members formalized the contributions under an umbrella group: The Winchester Foundation, established in 2031 by Cohen and Eliana Winchester now funds research grants, scholarships, awards and a crisis relief fund.
During the Winchester Massacre on Eliam's 122 birthday celebration in December 2054, much of the family was killed, leaving the burnt Estate, Foundation, and splinters of the family to Wren.
