It's not uncommon for siblings to seem very similar-- or to appear complete opposites. Torin and Julie seem like the latter, but observing them together, or even each individually, separately, you can start to draw a lot of similarities. Torin comes off as antisocial, but he's not-- he's perfectly fine socializing, so long as you aren't chastising him, or judging him, or trying to push him around. He enjoys intellectual conversations and engagement, even if it was impossible to find him reading a book or doing his homework when he was actually in school. He has a sense of humor, though it can be a bit twisted at times. Usually he's too tired or "laid back" to get riled up, but he does have a temper. He's a bit out of commission as far as fighting goes, but he won't hesitate to try and outsmart someone into trouble, or even hurt them if they give him reason enough.
Julie, meanwhile, is as much of a ray of sunshine as you would expect any seven year old girl to be. She's not shy in the slightest, and she's happy to make friends. Even with people who have no interest in being her friend. As happy and go lucky as she seems, she has a seemingly endless emotional well, and carries a much greater understanding of things than one might guess. She can sympathize and keep her cool well, and grounds herself when the situation calls for it. She's also terribly stubborn and strong willed, and when she does get mad, she fumes, and can silence-treatment anyone into submission.
History:
Torin and Julie are a good few years apart; she grew up with him coming and going as he transitioned out of living with their parents. Neither will say their upbringing was that big of a deal, or that different from other people's, though at least Torin knows that's somewhat false. He'd rather not discuss anything about himself, though-- but if you start acting like you know him, or know what his life has been, he'll set you straight.
