IC Summary |
Since the celebration the weather has been raining none stop. Some days the rain is light and some days the rain is so heavy you can barely see your paw in frong of your face.
Today is a mild rain day making it perfect for the pride to be out and about. Yes it's a little wet but it isn't something the lions aren't used to.
Niite'Manu has taken it upon her self to run some exercises to keep the pride safe during this time while traveling on slick rocks. It is good to run these drills as a pride from time to time so that if the pride ever needed to out maneuver outside forces they would be ready.

♦ This is a fun mini ORP and much more relaxed than the last one.

♦ Regardless if people post in this ORP or not it will move forward. I'll be posting replies every few days until story is completed.
♦ Mechanic instructions will come as the story is pushed forward. These are drills being run so there will be dice involved.
♦ Any Rank may join in. If you have a scribe that would rather sit and record what is happening that is cool. Chevaliers will probably get the most out of this rp.
♦ Characters I'll be using will be Niite'Manu, Tirion'Manu, Silme'ranna, and Lihua. (So I don't have to post their images when responding they are here ; D )

It had been a few weeks since the celebration, the wedding and the storms. The storms had been endless feeling like they would get stronger than soften up only to repeat this pattern once they felt your guard was let down. This left the terrain of the pride harder to navigate in parts which had Niite already planning to hold drills on how to navigate. She'd been very talkative about these intentions and the word around the pride caught the attention of at least a few members.
Before her sat at least three members, two of which were Chevaliers them selves and the other being her younger brother Tirion'Manu. They sat in her chosen location out side the caverns in the elements of the softly falling rain. Before them were the jagged rocks that protected the pride now slick with the weeks of rain.
"We'll wait a bit before we begin," Niite did not shout this as she was known for but instead kept a very reasonable level to her voice. "The rain doesn't seem to be stopping any time soon this season. I am unsure if it is misfortune or fortune... Pretty sure rain on a wedding is supposed to be good luck."
"You're blathering." Tirion'Manu interrupted his sister. He was extra rude to Niite some times not because he didn't love her but because the two were siblings and that never went away,
"Shut up Tirion." Niite grunted.
Lihua and Silme'ranna both looked at each other for an instant trying to judge if they maybe should say something. The ultimate outcome of this was the two awkwardly turning their heads back to Niite and Tirion in silence to await for drills to begin.

 Ser was uneasy with this new life, especially one that had him protecting a pride. Whether it had been his desperation in joining or their own lack of defense, he'd gotten the job, and now he had to work to make himself worthy of it.
He'd heard of these training exercises by accident and, knowing it would be a good idea, almost literally jumped at the occasion.
He must've approached at a bad time, he surmised, as a bit of bickering between two of them seemed to be ongoing.
Despite his flight response, he marched himself forward calmly. He wasn't a child anymore, for gods' sakes, and now was the time to prove it.
"I'm not too late for the exercises, am I?"

It was Lihua who spoke up to answer the dark males question. "No." He was to the point, "We're still waiting for drills to start. It seems like Niite and Tirion have better things to do than run drills." He was being very passive aggressive about the bickering which seemed to have been ignored by Niite because she did not snap at him. "We should be starting soon though, " Silme added. "I don't think we've met yet. I'm Silme'raana and .." Before the silver lioness could finish her introduction Niite's attention was back to the group. "SO. Moving on. Let's get on with these drills." "Yes finally," Lihua scoffed. "See those rocks over there?" The lioness motioned with her paw towards some slippery looking rocks. They weren't as scary as some of the others in the area as they weren't as high but still a little intimidating none the less. "We'll start with those and work our way up." Tirion rolled his eyes. Quote: DRILL ONE
Roll a 12 sided dice. One per character.
1 - 5 - No trouble at all. Your character perfectly is able to navigate the slippery rocks.
6 - 9 - You're able to get across the rocks but getting a perfect foot hold was challenging. Drill cleared though.
10 - 11 - You NEARLY bite it but you're able to pull your self back up. The drill is cleared but you might feel a little self conscience.
12 - You bite it. Your character slips off the rocks in to the waters below but you're not out of the drills yet. Try again.

It was not unearned as she was one of the high chevaliers of the pride but some times she was a little too aware of her skills that it was her down fall.
This was one of those moments where she may have had her ego a little too inflated. She jumped from rock to rock just fine but there was some slipping as her footing was not always perfect. She cleared the first part of the drill just fine but you couldn't call her example a shining one. But that was fine with Niite as her confidence carried the rest.
"ALRIGHT! WHOS NEXT?!" Quote: Tirion'ManuTirion scoffed at his sister a little. The two of them had grown up in the mists together so he was no stranger to wet rock hopping. He took a stance and began doing the drill just as well as his sister. The final leap was the most difficult but Tirion cleared the drill just fine.
"See. I did just as well as you did and I m not even in the Chevaliers. Nothing to brag about." He rolled his eyes. Quote: Niite'Manu
"Shut up Tirion.." She growled. "Alright who's next?" Quote: Silme'Ranna
Silme stepped up. She was pretty sure of her self having come from the mists her self. Taking a pretty overly confident leap to the first rock she started out fine only to have things take a pretty severe turn on the next jump. Silme almost fell over thus ending the drill for her but saved her self at the last moment with some quick foot work. She didn't worry about making her maneuvers fancy after that and opted to finish the drill as quickly as possible as to avoid shaming her self further. No one commented on her performance after she landed on the safe zone. Quote: Lihua
Lihua watched as the others made their jumps and studied the rocks closely. The ones that most were struggling with and when it was finally his turn the light lion cleared the drill like a pro. He landed at the end of the drill quite proud of him self but managed to keep that to him self. ((Next part of the drill coming soon. Not tonight but maybe tomorrow or in a few days.))

Niite looked pretty pleased that most of the group made it over with little to no problem. She wasn't going to wait around for others to arrive or brave the first drill as it was time for the second drill now. She also wasn't about to acknowledge that Tirion smoked her in the drill. "Alright," She flashed a grin, "That first drill was kids stuff. Let's move up a little higher where its a little steeper and see if that wipes the grin off your face Tirion," Okay, so maybe she was going to jab a little at Tirion who currently had a s**t eaters grin on his maw that wasn't about to go anywhere. Silme, Lihua and Tirion followed Niite up higher on the seaside cliffs where some very jagged rocks that resembled teeth rested. While inside the pride proper was laced with breath taking beauty the outside of the pride was quite ominous at times. The gray effects of the clouds over head and the pouring rain were not helping this. "Who wants to go first? This is similar to the last drill but in a harder place," Niite grinned quite sure of her self. Quote: DRILL TWO

Of course Niite was going first. This was her drill after all and if she didn't do it first than what respect would she have as one of the High Chevaliers? She once again launched her self towards the rocks and hopped from one to the other. The slickness was not immune to her experience and she did have some loose footing on some of the rocks she landed. While she wasn't going to say it out loud, these rocks were tougher than she originally thought.
Tirion'Manu
Tirion had no hesitation to follow his sister. He was feeling pretty damn sure of him self after the first drill and that arrogance may have almost cost him his footing. He slipped pretty bad and had to catch him self with extended claws. He hung from one of the sharp rocks for a good long moment before pulling him self up and completing the drill.
His sister had a s**t eater grin of her own when he finished his drill. Tirion was not amused.
Silme'ranna
Silme was more than a little eager to show Tirion how a proper chevalier would navigate these rocks. It was too mad that her footing did not agree and her over confidence cost her. She fell to the waters below with a nice loud splash. The fall had hurt but she wasn't about to give up. The gray stripped lioness was quick to make her way back up the cliff for a chance to try once more.
Lihua
Lihua was taking this drill quite seriously but alas. Even being serious wouldn't save him as he fell in to the waters below. The waters of disgrace washed over him but he wasn't about to give up.

She had humiliated her self the first time so Silme took her time more carefully the second round. It paid off too as her crossing was on the perfect level. It helped a lot that she was aware of what to expect this time around. Despite being in perfect form Niite did not look impressed.
Lihua
Lihua could feel the shame weighing heavily on his shoulders. He felt that he really screwed up but he managed to swallow his pride and made it across just fine. The white and blue lion couldn't find the strength to look Niite in the eyes and could only hope that maybe he'd be redeemed.

Everyone had made it across the rocks, granted, there had been quite a bit of difficulty to cross the rocks. Niite would be the first to acknowledge that fact but she wasn't too concerned. The two that had fallen had crossed again with ease and these exercises were about getting used to the feel of the jagged rocks in case they ever needed to deter an attack from the outside. Using your environment to your advantage was just as important as raw strength. The quartz pride relied more on knowledge than they relied on brute strength. "Follow me." Niite was quick on her paws to jump her way towards the top of the cliffs. This was the highest point and the jagged rocks were looking quite scary. Tirion, Silme and Lihua were right behind Niite having followed her all the way up to the rocks. Quote: DRILL THREE

17 - 20 - You bite it. Your character slips off the rocks in to the waters below but you're not out of the drills yet. Try again. The rock sends some larger fragments below. It might be weaker.

With little effort Niite made it across the rocks. After so many exercises she felt warmed up enough to pro it. She'd been performing pretty great this entire session. Nothing less from a high chevalier.
"COME ON YOU GUYS! " She called behind her.
Tirion'Manu
Tirion was a scribe. It was just facts that he was not as athletic as the Chevaliers were but what ever. Tirion hopped from rock to rock only to slip and slide off the jagged rock but he managed to catch him self and pull him self back up and finish the stupid drill.
"I am so done..." He grumbled, "You win Niite this is your field of expertise. I'll record the drills I guess...." He wasn't happy to admit defeat.
During his exercise some rocks had slid off the rocks but no one paid any mind.
Silme'ranna
Silme remembered her disgrace from the last time and was more careful. Her footing wasn't perfect but she cleared the drill better than most. The task was done and she was relieved.
Lihua
Today was not kind to Lihua as he found him self slipping, yet again, taking a lot of rocks with him.

Lihua was quick to make his way back up to the group. He crossed the upper jagged rocks with ... alot of difficulty. He had slipped and found him self scrambling to pull him self up. Something must have been off with him today because Lihua was actually a damn good Chevalier usually.
He was quite disappointed in him self.

Niite was satisfied with the drill especially since she wasn't completely sure the upper jagged rocks could take too much jumping on them so she gave the group of lions a nod acknowledging their hard work.
"Good job everyone. We'll call that a day for training."
"Thank gods," Tirion breathed he wasn't sure he could continue to keep pace.
"I could have done a few more... " Silme muttered. She was still feeling the fact she hadn't nailed all the drills and been the most impressive. Silme was a Chevalier and had to prove her worth damn it.
Lihua stayed silent still ashamed of the the way he'd preformed.
There was a loud crunching sound which caused the group to look behind them. One of the jagged rocks tips gave way and fell hard on the ground below. Luckily no one was down below when it happened but it was still alarming none the less.
"Wow..." Niite grumbled. "Alright upper rocks are off limits. Clearly they are too unstable to travel across..."
And for now that was that. The drills were over.
