Heavy snow had plagued Destiny City for a few days and it seemed to take ages for the clouds to clear. When they finally thinned, there was something more surprising than just the night sky: a glorious display of colorful light danced over Destiny City. A myriad of colors paint the sky, twisting colorfully. Auroras are uncommon in this area, but it’s something unique to see. Of course, ‘unique’ in Destiny City isn’t always a good thing…
The senshi of slyness stood out in the frigid evening cold for a long while in his sailor scout short sleeves and shorts. He stared up at the colorful sky, steaming his silent emotions into the night. But no matter how long he stood there exhaling clouds of condensation, his insides refused to cool and the intensity of his mixed moods would not evaporate. He couldn't return to the boat. Not the way he was just then.
Where to go, though? What to do? He hated relying on others...but he had relied on Elex. Faustite. He had relied on Faustite in exchange for carrying out his certain tasks and writing reports. It was a fair enough exchange. And it reminded him that there was one other he was technically working for. He hadn't ceased even when he'd taken up the deal with the Negaverse captain. It was probably about time he checked up with Acubens on the work he was doing as one of her Dark Mirror Record-Keepers.
He took out his compact mirror and stared at it a full minute, contemplating whether or not he thought he could or should have talked to her before showing up on her doorstep. It would have been rude not to, of course, but if she wasn't expecting him, maybe she wouldn't be home. Or maybe she'd be busy. Maybe he could head there, leave his work where she could find it, and retreat. She had her own life to live. Why would she want to bother with some dramatic, hormonal teenager's?
And yet Sinope found himself desperately wanting her to be there. Having been devoid of his parents for weeks, now, he had become nauseatingly homesick. And while he knew he wasn't ready to face his parents just yet, as much as he hated to admit it, Acubens' motherly attention sounded kind of nice right about then.
Jeezes, even for something as simple as this I can't make up my mind... he thought, disgusted at his contrariness. Did he want to see Acubens? To talk to her? Or did he want to just stew in his own misery? He knew he was dedicated to doing what he wanted, but when he didn't quite know what he wanted to do, that became a problem. Grumbling, he eventually decided on taking a chance and simply showing up at her door. He would let fate decide whether or not he would see her.
The unexpected auroras were a sight to behold, but their beauty did nothing to quell the turmoil and bitterness raging in Sinope's heart and mind. Thinking about the research they had been doing on their court, his thoughts strayed to Altea and he wondered if Mirrorspace's chaos held any sway over the way he was feeling just then.
Perhaps Acubens would know the answer to that, too. She seemed to be one of the more knowledgeable court members, after all. And while the vivid lights were their own mystery, Sinope preferred to deal with problems one at a time as they made themselves known. At least the sky didn't seem out to hurt anyone. Yet.
Eventually the redhead made it to Rhona's residence and rang her doorbell, his latest reports in hand. He pulled his hood low over his face to conceal his disheveled appearance and an expression he wasn't sure he could manipulate effectively enough to fool her.
