At long last, your Holiday shopping is complete! Every last person is checked off the list, and you have time to spare. Maybe you deserve something a little extra special, too? Or is there someone you suddenly remembered? Are you just imagining that you’re done? What if you actually haven’t gotten everything finished? This time of year is always so stressful—how are you handling shopping at all?
Did he... actually have everyone?
Ignacio squinted hard at the list he was staring at. How many names were on it? There was his sister and his mother, of course. He really couldn't care less about his father, so he would stay off. There was Richard's brothers, of course, and their significant others, that made eight. There were their kids, how many kids did they all have between them at this point? It was headache inducing. Maybe he should just buy a few more children's toys and call it a day. Had he already bought all the children's toys he needed, though? How many kids were there in a particular age range because he had to make sure everything was appropriately age-appropriate and not full of small parts that were too small for tiny throats and--
He took a deep breath and took his head out of his phone to look at the busy mall surrounding him. Augh.
His head went back into his phone. There were his parents-in-law, of course. And his friends--did he really have any friends he needed to shop for, still? Should he get his agent something?
So many of the names were crossed off and yet he wasn't sure--
"Arra," whined Ignacio, looking up at the taller man across from him at the food court table. "Do I really have everyone?"
He had to be missing gifts for someone, right?
Maybe a kid?

The Space Cauldron
Richard had been watching Ignacio scroll, flip, and rummage through the various lists and items he had with him for everyone he wanted to get gifts for, sipping quietly at a hot tea from one of the restaurants in the food court. When Ignacio looked up and whined at him, he chuckled a bit. "I'm pretty sure you do, honestly, but let's go over it just to double-check." He pulled his own list out of his pocket, the folded, worn paper showing how many times he'd pored over it himself. It was scribbled on and even had some fingerprints in substances of mysterious origin. It didn't crinkle anymore as he opened it and laid it on the table between them.
"My mom, my dad," as he spoke, he tapped a fingertip against each name in the list, "Garber, Mikki, Aaron, Tammer, Dominique, Celestine, Rose--but honestly they're one, so you don't have to get them anything; I'm just getting them baby clothes--, Constantine, Lee," he looked up from the paper, now ticking names off on his fingers, "your mom, your sister, your agent... hm... Josep- wait no, he's in my Leadership and Corporate Accountability class... Yeah, I think that's everyone." He leaned forward, resting his chin in his hand. "You doing alright?"

"Shi-- so you're saying I should get my agent something? I mean you're probably right, he is my agent, I should show some courtesy, but what the hell would he even like -- a microphone?" That didn't make sense; where had that even come from? "Maybe I'll just get him a gift card to one of those fancy pants bath places; I mean, I caught him sniffing soaps the other day."
Ignacio was mostly talking to himself in that moment, and perhaps it showed in how he quickly looked back down at his list on his phone and rapidly swiped in another addition. There, another name. That seemed right.
Right?
Ignacio squinted. "Really, there's only four kids? It feels like more."
Maybe because Raina still seemed like a kid to him, even though she was a teenager. Where did the time go?
He suddenly jumped like he got smacked in the back and came to the realization that he had been, in fact, asked about his own personal state of affairs. He blinked once, twice, and then coughed awkwardly, glancing over to the side. "Ah, yeah, I'm fine." Sort of. He was nervous was what he was. He didn't really want to skip over someone. Christmas shopping had been so much easier when he was younger, when he didn't really have to think of anyone except a couple people. Richard's family was so damn ... big and every year it confounded him just a little more.
Ignacio took another deep breath.
Repeating the, "Yeah," and then a rushed, "sorry," was a sign that maybe he wasn't one hundred percent fine, but he wasn't about to say that he wasn't. "Are you sure I'm not missing anyone else?"
He pushed his phone over to Richard for the other to double check his work.

"I would at least get him, like, a gift-card or something. Like what people get for their teachers or whatever," he shrugged. Watching as Ignacio added another name, he chuckled again. "Yeah there's only four kids so far. Constantine's almost got his J.D., so maybe they'll end up adopting?" When offered Ignacio's phone, he took it and looked it over. After a 'hm' or two, he handed it back. "Looks good to me? I don't see anyone you're missing. We can probably get everything for the kids at like, Toys R Us or Build A Bear or something. Mikki and Aaron are probably still young enough for something from Toys R Us." He didn't call out Ignacio on probably not being fine--that would be for later, when they were alone and Ignacio didn't have to worry about who would see if he decided to open up. To Ignacio's credit, it was only Richard's long familiarity with him that kept him from believing the act in the first place. "My mother and father are honestly probably good with whatever you get them. You don't even have to get them anything. They're impossible to buy for, trust me."

Ignacio smiled grimly. "I'm not exactly sure what you get the people who have everything. I honestly just got them a gift card to their favourite restaurant."
To prove this, he dug around in his pocket and pulled out his wallet, yanking out the gift card. It was to a local place he had heard them talk about a few times at least, and he figured that was probably a safe bet. He really couldn't think of anything else to get them, even though he felt rather guilty about that fact. Ignacio wasn't the type that particularly enjoyed giving out gift cards as gifts if he could avoid it, because sometimes it just didn't feel as personal. Of course, that did allow them to actually do something with it they would definitely like, which was less stressful for Ignacio.
"Maybe I'll do the same thing for my agent--"
As if worried he was going to lose the gift card or it would mysteriously disappear, Ignacio jammed the gift card back in his receipt-filled wallet and tucked it back away.
"I already bought stuff for the boy twins; they're a little older so they're a little easier to deal with." He squinted. "But I think I might have forgotten just how young the other twins are. I bought some random toys," he leaned over to rummage through a bag, "but," he shrugged in mild frustration, "they may have small parts?"

Richard grinned. "My dad loves food. He would live above a bistro if he could. I'm sure he and my mom'll be fine with that. I usually just get them a generic gift card? Sometimes I get my dad pens, because his coworkers keep mysteriously forgetting to give his back. My mom likes scarves?" He shrugged. "She has a ton of them, though, so I don't think it'd break her heart if you didn't give her one. She's running out of space for the ones she has."
He leaned over to look into the bag Ignacio was talking about, watching as Ignacio rummaged around. "I mean, they're one. You could probably buy them socks and that would be the best present they've ever received in their lives. Give them socks or something to chew on." He leaned backwards. "I mean, you can still give them those things. Tammer and Dominique'll just save them for next year or something if they're not ready for them yet." A pat to Ignacio's arm. "Hey, you might be ahead with them?"

It was, admittedly, a relief that his gift idea for Richard's parents would work just fine for Richard's parents. At the other ideas he was offered, Ignacio picked up his phone, created a new note in his application, and listed down the offerings.
Would be useful for next year, at least.
"I guess," responded Ignacio, pitifully, at the arm pat. "I can't just give them these, though. Maybe I'll hide them away until next year. You know babies. They're gonna rip whatever it is open immediately and try to eat it or whatever babies do. Babies get into everything once they can move more than two inches without falling on their faces."
At least, that was the impression he got from watching almost every sitcom he had ever watched that had children in it. He didn't actually deal with children that much himself until more recently, and even then, it was mostly through family.
"Alright, so I guess I need to get my agent something and the two girls?" He pulled at his collar awkwardly. "Are we sure that's it?"

"Yeah, you can go ahead and hide them," Richard nodded earnestly, "I mean, shopping ahead is a thing, and it'll take pressure off of you for the next time you want to give them something?" One-year-olds were super distractable, so it wasn't like it would be impossible for someone to whisk the advanced toys away as soon as possible, but the "why risk it" train of thought certainly had merit. And it wasn't like they couldn't fit them under their bed or in their closet or something in the meantime. They had the room, even if they had to rearrange some of their things. As far as whether or not that was it...
"We should be good with that, yeah." He rocked his chair back on its hind legs, balancing there for the moment.

"Good," murmured Ignacio, finally believing that that might have actually been it. Probably. He was already surrounded by so many bags, though. Ugh, his wallet was going to take a hit...
He preferred maintaining his own accounts where he could, though thankfully his current situation meant he was at very little risk of ending up on the street even if he was having a bad month or three. He might just feel a little guilty. Or a lot guilty. For really no reason, all things considered, but--
"Maybe we can finish shopping later, though," Ignacio's expression brightened just a tad. "I've heard they give tons of food at that Japanese kiosk over there. You wanna look into it?"

Richard hadn't had much for breakfast, so the mention of food made his face brighten. "I could eat three horses, so I'm down for that." He leaned on his elbow, his opposite hand reaching out to pat Ignacio's upper arm before winking at him and getting to his feet. "My treat, even." He knew Ignacio well enough to recognize the way his eyebrows creased faintly. Plus, Richard enjoyed 'spoiling' him where he could, and also knew better than to call attention to what he was doing; Ignacio would feel self-conscious if he made a point of it. So he wouldn't make a point of it. "Now c'mon before I start actually eating horses."
