Winter's power outage found Kit indoors as he disliked the cold almost as much as he disliked being wet. He didn't mind the opportunity to leave his apartment, however, as it meant he got a chance to escape his college winter break assignments. He couldn't finish typing up the rest of his report if his laptop lacked power, after all.
The inviting concept of a hot beverage lured him to a nearby cafe where he had often spent time doing homework, sketching the cafe's occupants or chatting with strangers in the past. Due to college and work, it had been a while since he had met anyone knew or been able to hold a proper conversation with someone outside of his occupations.
With Christmas around the corner, it was difficult for someone as easily lonely as Kit to go without the company of others for so long. Now that winter break had come, though, it was the perfect opportunity to renew his social life. It was just a matter of where to start. The end of the ordering line looked as good a place as any - both to order a drink and to strike up a conversation.
