Physical Description:
Skin Tone:: A soft mix of olive and tan, his skin is very soft from making the oils to use with his craft. Besides the flocking of dark freckles that spatter his face and body, his skin is supple and unmarked.
Eyes:: Large, expressive almond shaped eyes, eyes shaded a pale coppery brown. Long lashes surround his eyes, giving a dainty sort of beauty to his face.
Hair:: A mop of brown hair kept relatively short, a touch above his shoulder. Bangs are kept long, falling to either side of his face.
Personality:
Were it possible for a human to be described as a certain type of animal, Zyanzi would be Pern's equivalent of a hen. A mother hen. Always fretting, always worrying, Zyanzi considers everyone to be part of his family. Everyone's an aunt or an uncle, a brother or a sister - even if he doesn't exactly say it out loud (he's long learned to keep such silly thoughts to himself), and because of that he's practically gushing at the seams with kindness and affection.
For as kind as Zyanzi can be, for as gentle as he can be, when push comes to shove....don't do either with him. He's not stubborn enough that he'll stick his heels in the ground and refuse to move, nor will he balk at all opinions about his own, rather he has a way of standing straight and stepping to the side. It's something akin to a blind faith or drive that moves him and he's fairly okay with that, but he doesn't appreciate being forced into a situation without being allowed to refuse. Of course if he really doesn't have a choice in the matter he'll go along with the idea, because it's rude not to, but don't expect him to stay overly quiet about things. He'll pop off a quip about how he feels, probably two at most, and then never speak of it again. Unless, of course, someone pressures him into speaking about it and then he won't shut up.
Zyanzi has a tendency to stumble toward odd leanings, particularly with the fact that he very much prefers dressing more of a feminine fashion, preferring the loose clothes and relative freedom women get to act gentle and dainty. He loves acting like "one of the girls", braiding hair, talking gossip and talking about a cute rider or two.
Zya also has a habit of enjoying physical contact with others, whether it is in the form of holding someone's hand or leaning against them, purely platonic and hopefully unoffensive.
If ever he finds a quiet moment alone, Zyanzi loves to stare aimlessly into the sky or toward a distant marker, dreaming of a future nonexistent or mulling over a random thought that is nagging at him. Sometimes this can get him into trouble, as he might accidentally walk into someone while walking.

History:
Zyanzi is a weyrbrat. He has a few guesses as to who his biological parents might be (assuming they still lived), and a sneaking suspicion about a possible older siblings, but no real actions or desires to discover his heritage beyond a few idle daydreams and mild curiosity. He had been creche-raised as many other children were.
Enjoying others company, while at the same time having trouble communicating led to a lot of frustration in his younger years, until at around the age of 8, he became aware of a strange adoration for the inherently feminine fashions and the female populace in general. He found himself growing with the sad understanding that weyr male children population were deviously cruel to the 'sissy boy' that he was becoming in their eyes. Zyanzi grew very perturbed by this behavior and shirked spending time around them, finding the female population to be a little more accepting of him. By no means would he naturally fit in with them, but he made it a point to gossip and be kind to them and they in turn were kind to him.
He was very clumsy as a growing child, which resulted in a trip to the infirmary with a broken leg around 13 turns old. Fortunately, the break healed fully. But it was an extended recovery process, which impeded for a short while on the time that he would have spent training as a candidate, and spending time around healers sparked an interest in the art.
When, even after his injury healed, and he was cleared to go back to training as a Candidate, he found himself returning to the infirmary whenever he had a free moment. As an attentive child, Zyanzi probably would have made a good apprentice in just about any craft, but it was in the gentle ministrations of massagecraft that he held a gift for. He had a way with his hands, knowing when to use pressure or when to be gentle. The gift only grew as he aged. At the age of 15, he was almost fully devoting his free time to learning the craft, even if he would never apprentice (he wasn't holding his breath, but enjoyed it as a pastime hobby) - what oils to use for different types of massages and everything in between. It brought him great pleasure to ease the soreness from others.
He was also an attentive student when it came to his Candidate lessons - never shirking from a challenge or hard lesson, even if he did not enjoy being in the limelight.
As he aged, he was well set in his ways of dressing - his hair grown long and 'girly' and his clothing style very feminine and dainty. It was hard to sometimes distinguish if he was a boy or girl at time, which he did not mind at all.
