Who: Josh, LuLu, and Zeke When: The day after this happening; afternoon Where: Lab 305 Weather: FALL WEATHER
It was always a surprise to get a call for a check up, but even more of one when the patient wasn't too roughed up or toeing the line at death's door. It was a pleasant thing for him and so Zeke looked forward to seeing LuLu and her Guardian all the more for it. Still, even with assurances and the like from Josh, the vet wasn't about to go into anything unprepared.
He spent the next fifteen or so minutes prepping an exam room; readying the patient table, the guest chairs (surely Josh would want to sit in on the whole thing, he reckoned), a few odds and ends related to cleaning cuts and bandaging them up proper, and then the necessary paperwork. LuLu's file was pulled and set down along side a freshly printed set of documents meant to catalogue this visit. A few questions for him to answer, some for her, and if all went well he'd have her in and out lickity-split. He knew most Raevans would prefer NOT to see him in this sort of setting for these sorts of reasons, so if he could make their time here all the more fleeting without sacrificing their care then he'd do what he could.
"Alright," he eyed the clock on the wall and started back out to the lobby, "they should be here any time now!"

It was not long after Zeke perched himself at the front desk that the rabbit and her guardian made an entrance. In their typical fashion, it was a dramatic one. The front doors slammed open. LuLu was the first to burst through them. Her guardian was huffing and puffing right at her heels. He pleaded with her, "Lu! I am not dragging you here for my good. It is for you! I want to make sure you are not seriously hurt." He folded his arms over his chest to make himself more imposing. He knew the tactic would likely fail, but it was worth a shot. The sigel released a deep groan that cause her whole chest to heave forward. She spun around to face him and the boy's tough act immediately fell flat. She retorted, "I can take care of myself." Her swollen nose and black eye said otherwise, however. The girl's normally delicate tone was garbled into a nasally pitch secondary to her forcing air through obstructed nostrils. "I do not need help. I need space." Lu then began to move towards Zeke's desk putting distance between her and Josh. The sigel greeted the man with a soft glower through her puffy eye. She nonchalantly reached for a pen strapped to the counter by a thin chain. The girl popped the nib of the pen between her pursed lips indifferently. It remained there for a few moments before Josh approached the counter and plucked it from her mouth. The flush of embarrassment coloring his cheeks was obvious. Josh sighed and moved to sign the girl into her appointment. It was the first step and there were still many more to follow, but he was determined to get them both through the next hour in one piece. The pen he pilfered from the rabbit seemed to have different plans though. He attempted a few quick strokes but no ink flowed onto the paper. After a few more tries, he shot his charge a glare. "LuLu! What did I say about eating ink!"The sigel grinned and giggled michievesously. The purple bruising on her face had faded a shade or two into a duller blue. Even the swelling seemed to have deflated a little after her small snack.

It was almost as soon as he sat down that he was getting up again. Much like a jump scare would make him do in a video game, Zeke jerked back and then stood up as the door slammed open and the chimes over it went wild with the arrival of his patient and her Guardian.
"Hey th--" His greeting fell short as Josh and LuLu had a small tiff right then and there. His smile remained stuck and so did his raised hand as the Rabbit Sigel suddenly shot away from her Guardian in a declaration of needing space and went, of all places, right up to him and his desk. She gave him a look that almost seemed to dare him to say hello to her before snatching up a pen and sticking it pointedly in her mouth.
Josh followed right behind her and removed it with what felt like pure embarrassment radiating from every pore.
"Ah ha...Well then!" Zeke felt like he had gotten a little taste of whiplash, but knowing what he did through the phone call with Josh he guessed that was to be expected with such a spirited Sigel in the room. Clearing his throat, Zeke stuck his still-raised hand out to Josh, giving a soft chuckle as he now extended a proper welcome.
"Nice to see you in person, Josh! And don't worry about the ink - we've got plenty of pens kicking around!" As if to prove that point Zeke handed over a regular, unchained ballpoint pen that he pulled from a cup on the desk. "LuLu, if you're hungry, feel free to indulge a little! I don't mind! It's far better to go into a check up with a full stomach than an empty one, I say."
And with that and a genuinely brighter smile he offered her her pick of one or more of the pens in that same cup.

Josh's expression during the whole ordeal read clearly that he was very sorry for whatever his sigel was about to do, but that he also had very little control over the matter. Lu's guardian took a short break from reprimanding her to acknowledge Zeke's greeting. He took the other man's hand in his own and gave it a firm shake, "Nice to meet you, too. I hope we did not cause too much of a comotion." With a smile, he plucked the fresh pen away from Zeke and finished signing into the appointment. LuLu's ears perked at what she interpreted as a bottomless pen buffet. Well, if Zeke was offering. The girl reached for the whole cup. However, the rabbit was thwarted as her guardian quickly placed his hand over the container. He returned the ballpoint pen back to it and gave her an incredulous look before setting it on the other side of the counter just out of her reach. Of course, the sigel's pout returned in full force. How was she supposed to heal her injuries if Josh kept getting in the way!? She could do it in a snap and be as good as new in a few minutes if he would just let her down some ink like she wanted to. Josh offered an explanation to Zeke before he was chalked up as a raevan abuser. "Lu also feeds on creativity and she had a full breakfast this morning. I am sure she is still satisfied from it." He glanced at her as he continued as though addressing the elephant in the room, "She is wanting to feed on ink to heal the injuries she got from her last boxing match faster. But, I want you to take a look before she fixes them wrong or something." Concern edged into the boy's voice. "I do not want her abusing a shortcut and avoiding real medical attention. Plus, some bad stuff went down when she had too much ink before."LuLu expression seemed to soften at the boy's final comment, just a bit. Even she had to admit, that was a valid concern. The last time she had gorged on ink they had all suffered for it. Still, she had learned her lesson from that time and understood her limits more now. LuLu was confident that she would not repeat the same incident. It was frustrating that her guardian did not trust her ability to control herself. The girl sighed, "I know what I am doing."

"If I had to rate your entrance on a scale of one to ten, I'd give it a solid four if I'm being honest." As he spoke his smile became luminous, but in spite of the good humor it was true. He'd had far more disruptive grand entrances in the past.
"Is that so?" Zeke gave Josh an owlish look when the other man explained the situation with LuLu and ink, which prompted Zeke to turn the expression momentarily on the Rabbit herself. The Sigel seemed a little petulant especially with how she declared that she knew what she was doing, but if that was the case then her Guardian was in the right here. Best to check her out before she went about healing herself and perhaps inadvertently doing it wrong.
"Well if that's the case then I think we can save the pens for later. Think of it as getting a lollipop from the doctor after your check up!" He was all smiles in a heartbeat, clapping his hands together before gesturing to the door at the back of the lobby. "And with that being said, how about we get that appointment underway, eh? I've got the exam room all prepped and there's plenty of seating if you'd like to come with Josh! Well, that is if LuLu here doesn't mind."
He was all for Guardian involvement when it came to physicals. A Guardian could answer questions if the Raevan didn't know the answer themselves and at times could be a source of comfort for their ward to have. Zeke was hardly threatening but being in a place you didn't visit often was enough stress without adding the ailment or affliction on top of it. But on the other hand, if the Raevan didn't want their Guardian present then he would respect those wishes as well. Josh could be filled in after the fact after all.

Lu crossed her arms over her chest when Zeke sided with her guardian. Of course he would. If the girl had feet, they would be stomping as she brushed past the humans and towards the examination room. The sigel commented offhandedly, "I do not care if he comes. Just finish up quickly." The faster she got this over with, the sooner she could get on with her day. It would also mean she would be one step closer to getting the ink she wanted. All she needed now was for Zeke to tell her everything was A-ok, like she already knew it was. Josh followed at their heels. An apologetic look was perpetually plastered on his face as he tried to make up for each ill-tempered comment that fell out of the raevan's mouth. He tried to fill in the silence with something other than Lu's grumbling, "So what does the exam entail?"

Oh dear, she hadn't seemed to have liked that.
With a tip of his hand Zeke motioned for Josh to follow after LuLu, before taking up step with the other man in the hallway.
"A physical for the most part. Visually she doesn't appear to be suffering from broken bones so I doubt we'll have to run an x-ray but I'll have to document her cuts and bruises, check for any lumps or bumps that could be hidden in her hair, question her about any aches and pains, that sort of thing."
He patted Josh on the shoulder at that apologetic look, leaning in so only the other man could hear.
"Given her lack of lethargy I think we can rule a concussion off the table but I won't leave any stone unturned, don't you worry."
When they neared the room Zeke darted out ahead of the pack and opened the appropriate door, letting his patient and her Guardian into the room first. Zeke shut the door behind him after he walked in behind the pair, gesturing for Josh to take up a seat on one of the provided chairs before turning to face LuLu properly.
"Okay LuLu, I'll need you to stay floating for a moment if you don't mind. I'm gonna have to mark down all your injuries for the record here."
He moved to the place where he had set her file and a couple forms, taking up a clipboard, pen, and a sheet of paper that had empty human-shaped silhouettes printed on it. As he walked over to her, he scratched a line across where the silhouette's torso ended and wrote the word 'Sigel' next to it.
"If you have any under your clothes, just let me know where, how big, and if it's a scratch or a bruise or what have you, okay?"

Joshua nodded along with the other man's description. He added in a few interested hums for good measure. However, his eyes seemed focused intently on his charge hovering down the hallway. She was strolling deeper into the Lab and the two humans were not far behind her. Joshua could see the girl's hands were reaching out to poke and toy with the objects she came across. With practice movements, Joshua fixed her small displays of rebellion. He stood up a placard she had knocked over and re-adjusted some magazines that were skewed in the examination room. As Zeke patted his shoulder, Joshua offered a weary smile, "That is a relief." The boy quickly took a seat in the corner of the room. He crossed his legs for a moment but seemed uncomfortable in the position. He then uncrossed them and scooted closer to the edge of his seat. The guardian watched his charge's evaluation curiously. LuLu stared up at Zeke with her arms crossed over her chest. She frowned and stated blandly, "It is easier to show you." The sigel lifted up her shirt until it was tucked under her armpits. Her guardian sputtered from his corner of the room. He yelped a single word with a shaky tenor, "M-modesty!" He set his face in his hands. There was a furious blush alighting his cheeks. LuLu shrugged indifferently. She pointed to a scattering of faded bruises along her ribcage. "Most of them are gone now. These are left." She then smoothed her shirt back down.

Zeke noticed the little things LuLu did to her surroundings just as Josh did, but kept mum and pretended not to even as the other man went about fixing what had been made askew. He didn't mind, to be honest, she was upset she was here and he couldn't blame her for it. So long as she didn't suddenly turn around and cold c**k him in the face, she could dishevel a few magazines or pens to her heart's content. If it made her feel any little bit better, he was all for it. Besides, he was always prepared to tidy up the exam rooms after the fact.
What he was not prepared for was being flashed. He looked up from her chart in time to get a full view, but it seemed that the show didn't hit home as hard as it did Josh. While Lu's Guardian sputtered and cried for modesty, Zeke's eyebrows went a little further up his forehead for a moment before coming back down in time with a chuckle that sounded more like a bit-back peal of laughter.
"Well I had a feeling today was going to be interesting, and I guess you proved me right, LuLu." He shook his head slightly as he wrote down what he was seeing, smiling in that funny, unphased sort of way one did when encountered with the unexpected that was far from unpleasant to behold.
"You're definitely healing alright. More yellow and green than blue and purple, but if you press on any of them - even the spots that are gone now - do you feel any pain? And if yes, how would you rate that pain? Let's say a one would be 'nothing at all' and a ten is 'I am literally dying right here and right now'." He did not expect any tens out of her, but all bases had to be covered.
"Also I got everything on your front, but do you know if you have any on your back?"

Josh seemed relieved that Zeke was relatively unphased by LuLu's little display. Perhaps, she was not the first one to be so bold during a check up. The boy pondered this. Maybe the lab was full of other pint sized terrors. Zeke's offhand comment did bring a soft smirk to the rabbit's lips. She considered it a compliment. LuLu certainly did like to make things interesting. The sigel shook her head, "No. Not much anymore. Maybe a three with the big bruises." She blinked owlishly as a thought occurred to her. "I have been able to do this lately..." Her voice trailed off. Suddenly the tattoos on her face slid like liquid under her skin and took on a new pattern. She figured it was worth mentioning. This was an exam after all. Returning to Zeke's questions without missing a beat, she answered, "Nothing on my back."

He jotted down what she said about the pain, nodding his head and humming a single note in the few seconds it took him to put down 3's next to the big bruises followed by 'Zero pain elsewhere' on a blank line. He looked up just in time for her to speak again, trailing off into displaying her newest power.
And although the boobs hadn't done much at all for Zeke, the change in tattoos sure as hell did many and more.
His eyes lit up as the ink in her skin shifted and resettled and he looked like the proverbial kid in a candy store, but with a blank check in hand. His smile was huge and he became incredibly animated, pointing his pen at LuLu and then at Josh with all the wide-eyed wonder a person could have.
"That is so cool! Did you see that?!" He looked back to Lu after questioning Josh, bouncing on his toes. "Can you do that with other tattoos? Do you have any more tattoos, even?" He could see the one on her arm point blank but being as tattooed as he was himself he was always curious and interested in seeing the ink of others.
Of course, there was time and there was place and this was of course neither, really. After a moment or so he seemed to realize this - in the span of time it took to look between Raevan and Guardian a couple more times with that eager beaver enthusiasm - and cleared his throat to settle himself down before engaging again with the thing he should have been properly commenting on, he supposed.
"Sorry. I really love seeing new powers in action and tattoo-based ones are right up my alley." He waved vaguely at his sweater-covered torso to hint at what could be beneath before making the proper notations. New power, what she displayed, and then he hovered his pen near the figure with the backside on display.
"Would it be alright if I took a look for myself? Just for the sake of thoroughness."

Joshua perked up in his seat at Zeke's sudden enthusiasm. He had been just as animated when LuLu had first shown him. The novelty still had not quite worn off, and a soft grin had krept onto his face upon seeing the girl's powers in action. Joshua agreed, "It is something alright. She has made some pretty rad ones." The boy started to reach for his phone. There was a glimmer in his eyes like a father getting ready to show off his daughter's yearbook photos.
LuLu cut him off, however. The sigel answered Zeke, "I can have whatever I want." Her tattoos continued to shift and spread along her skin. "But, I like keeping the ones I was born with. They are easier to make." She pointed toward the red marking still on her shoulder.
Upon the man's request, LuLu nodded. She turned around and pulled up her shirt once again. Likely to Zeke's delight, another new tattoo had formed on her back. It crawled up her spine like a willowy vine.
Her eyes eventually flicked to Zeke's and she commented offhandedly, "I can do it to other people's tattoos, too." She held out her hand towards the man. "If you want to see." Her lip quirked in a way that was more than a little mischievous.
In the background, you could see Joshua give his charge a pointed stare. He looked nervous.

"I can believe it!" Zeke grinned at Josh and looked eager as the other man started going for his phone but LuLu made sure the fatherly photo sharing died right then and there.
For now at least.
"Man I don't know how many people would LOVE to have that power. Like plenty of people have tattoo regret after awhile but you can just go poof! New tattoo! Heck you could even coordinate with your outfits like some kind of accessory. That's rad as hell! But I can see the merit in keeping what you have. If you're used to something, it's kinda weird to have it suddenly not be what it's always been, I geddit."
She turned and he started taking notes, watching the vine curl up her back. He shifted the clipboard in his hand just so he could give her a little round of applause. Lu's power really was Too Cool.
"Is that so?" She turned and remarked about being able to do it to others which made Zeke too curious for his own good. He looked the part as well - eyes widening the appropriate amount for surprise and interest while his pierced brows went up his forehead. He looked between Raevan and Guardian again, settling on the former with a chuckle.
"You know, I really outta say 'no' but at the same tiiiime..." He trailed off as he moved to set his things down, rolling up the left sleeve of his sweater as he turned back around. When he hiked it up to just below his shoulder a tribal-style tattoo was visible in thick black swirls across his bicep. It was the sort of tattoo one might get early on in college when one was eager to get inked for the first time but wholly uncertain of what one wanted beyond 'it's gotta look cool'.
In other words, the exact scenario that led Zeke to getting this one in the first place.
"I'd be lying to your face if I said I wasn't curious as all get out and wouldn't use 'chronicling powers is part of my job' as an excuse." He winked at Lu. "It makes sense you can focus your power on yourself, but to have it work on others? Besides, this comes with the territory of working for the Lab anyway. I'd rather chance a change in my ink than most other things you guys can throw my way. Less risk for hospitalization on my part."
He held his arm out to her to take at her leisure.
"Just do me a solid and promise nothing...X-rated, let's say. I've gotta go home tonight, ya hear?"

LuLu's gave a small curtsy to the man after his praise. Her own tattoos melded back into their usual appearance as she spun around and floated closer to the man. She was beyond pleased that he had given into his curiosity. It had been a while since she been able to do a large piece on a client. This would be fun. LuLu laced her fingers together then cracked her knuckles with a muted pop. Her hands reached out and clasped around his bicep. She gingerly ran her fingers over his skin as though she was feeling for something. The rabbit paused and hummed softly once she found it. It was more difficult to use her powers on others, especially when their tattoos were not fresh. Nonetheless, she could feel the ink under Zeke's skin calling out to her essence. It was ready to be manipulated and made into something new. She commented, "Sit back and relax. It may tickle." Her grip tightened on his muscle. For a few seconds not much happened. Soon, however, the man would feel a tingle under his flesh akin to a bug crawling on his arm. LuLu's eyes slid closed. This kind of work demanded all of her focus. The clearer she envisioned the picture in her mind, the better it would turn out. Josh cradled his chin in his hand and watch in curiosity as Zeke's tribal marking started to move. The tattoo caved in on itself until the whole thing had receded completely under LuLu's palms. She girl's brow wrinkled with concentration. The ink began to take on a completely different shape. Even the color shifted from a dull, faded black until a full spectrum. The sigel continued her work in silence. Shifting her hands as she perfected each part. After a solid ten minutes, she reopened her eyes. LuLu pulled her hands away and breathed a sigh of relief. She chimed triumphantly, "All done!" She was proud of what she had created. Zeke's new tat was one of her best works to date, in her opinion.

It had to be the strangest sensation he had ever felt after LuLu got to work. He felt the tingling, tickling sensation she mentioned and it was one of those sorts of feelings that only grew for a time until it bordered on unbearable. Kind of like when your leg fell asleep and you got those static-y, crinkly vibes going up and down it until the feeling came back again. Not at all painful, just one of those things that made you wanna rub it back to normal.
But he didn't. He kept as still as he could as he felt the ink in his arm melt inward under the Rabbit's surprisingly firm grip and then slowly, surely, twist and curl its way back out again. He watched, enraptured, as beneath Lu's fingers black ink morphed into blues and purples and even went far from that deep darkness to the brightest of golden yellows. As she moved her hands up and down his arm he watched the spots where the thick, hard lines he had carried with him for over a decade now became marked with ones that were far thinner and far softer ones with a style that looked as if LuLu had taken a set of watercolor paints to him.
In a manner of minutes she was done and declared it to be so, pulling her hands off his bicep and letting Zeke get a full, proper look.
If he had lit up at the sight of her using her abilities on her self before, that was to be considered pale by how he looked and reacted now.
"No friggin' way!!!" He was smiling so hard his face was hurting with the effort, damn near ear to ear with it. He turned his arm this way and that to see all of it, looking up at Lu and at Josh before back down again at it as if not believing what he was seeing. "LuLu this is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Thank you!!!!"
He bounced on his toes and wrapped her up in a warm embrace, time and place from before be damned, crowing with laughter and sheer delight.
"This the coolest...I have never, ever seen anything quite so amazing...DO YOU REALIZE how much bank you could make with this?!" He let her go and looked at her as seriously as he could in the moment, which was to say very briefly and not much at all even then. "You could literally kill the cover up tattoo industry like this I am telling you...Wait! Is it permanent? I mean it's ink it's in my skin but like...Yeah, right??? I wanna keep this forever this is the COOLEST!!!"
