Four boys stood around talking around sunset. Jack had spotted them beforehand, so he knew they couldn’t have been planning to ambush him because they knew which direction he came from after school and they were far too visible from his vantage point. But if it wasn’t him they were waiting for, who was it?

He took note of the direction they were facing and tried to work out who might come from there. A HITS student? But which HITS student could they have wanted to pick on? They were Romano’s kids. What business did they have with - oh.

Realization hit him like an asteroid impact. The last time they were here had been when that one-eyed boy, Benji, had tried to take them on. Jack had run off with him before their little group had time to properly repay him for his attack. It was likely they were hoping to get vengeance on him now; so intent on that goal that picking on Jack came second.

Well, that wasn’t his problem. Benji was one of those idiots who jumped in and tried to impose his ‘help’ on people whether they wanted it or not without considering the consequences. If he was going to get jumped by these guys, it was would have been his own fault.

And yet...something kept the red-head from turning away completely and finding a different route home. Probably the promise of an intriguing fight to come. He rarely minded spectating as long as he wasn’t forced to participate. Situating himself in a position where he could get a good view without being easily spotted, Jack took out a pear from his lunch box that he had brought as a snack and sat back to enjoy the show.
Quote:
One… Two… Three… Four… Of course there were four boys waiting for him from what Benji could see as he took his normal route home. They were all assholes he recognized from his last ‘fight’ which was so rudely interrupted by Jack turning tail and running like the little ******** coward he was. Surely they were here for vengeance, and normally Benji would be all four it. Hell, he’d throw the first punch! But he was so damned tired. Though the chaos in his chest finally dissipated and he was back to feeling his normal pissed-off self, he couldn’t seem to reach his full level of normalcy anymore. It was as if something was nagging in the back of his head all the time. Well, not something, he knew damn well what it was.

Those ******** corrupted senshi kept showing up, over and over again, focusing on him in a way he just couldn’t understand yet. But it plagued him like an irritating fly most days, and at night, he found himself patrolling until dawn. He still got sleep but not nearly enough… Were anyone to ask, he was just ******** fine. His eye was already heavy with the desire to nap and a dark circle had formed under it. He was exhausted beyond reason and just done with the world for the day. And it showed, maybe just a little, by the way when he was within speaking distance of the boys who blocked his path, he simply glared at them and tried to push through.

Of course, that wasn’t going to work. Why should it work? Why would ANYTHING ever work in his favor? He was a tiny little s**t with a big mouth and an attitude that would make even the nicest person twitch an eye. He probably had bad kharma up the wazoo for that, even if he tried to be a good person somewhere deep down.

Really deep down.

One of the larger boys, one who had been holding Jack in place during their last encounter, grabbed his shoulder roughly and pulled him back, forcing him up against the wall. A soft ‘oof’ managed to escape his lips, the air knocked out of his already sore chest, while a thick arm pinned him against the wall easily.

He couldn’t even manage a ‘********’ like he normally would have spewed out by now. There was no breath there, especially not when a hard punch met his already bruised gut.

How he WISHED he could just power up and be Chara right now, where he could beat the s**t out of these boys without a second doubt in his mind. Instead, he only had the coming second blow to his gut that had him wrapping his arms around himself as the larger boy allowed him to crumple to the ground.
Quote:
Once Benji was down, the other young man who had held Jack put a hand on the first’s shoulder. The first stepped back and allowed the second to crouch down next to Benji.

“Come on, now, no need to hurry off in a rush. We wanted to talk to you,” he said, watching the shorter male to make sure he was listening. “One of my friends here is still pretty sore about you kicking and beating on him without warning, especially when our quarrel wasn’t with you. But we might be willing to forgive that little mishap if you hear us out.”

The kid glanced back at his buddies. “See, we all really hate Burn-It. He acts like such a know-it all and he’s the sort of guy who gets off on making others look stupid. But you’ve seen what a coward he is. So when he’s faced with a fight, he doesn’t play fair; he plays dirty.

Now, we’ve seen what you can do and you’re a pretty good fighter for a shortie with one eye, but even then I doubt you’d be able to take us all on at once and beat us. You showed a lot of guts jumping into the fight like that, though, and we admire guys like you. You don’t have to resort to underhanded tactics to get your way. So what are you doing sticking up for a guy like that? He doesn’t deserve your help. He didn’t even seem grateful for it. Why not hang with us and be properly appreciated than try standing up for a b*****d who spits in your face?”

Benji coughed and gave a soft groan as he finally managed to catch his breath without feeling like he was going to hurl all over the place. What the larger boy said was true, Jack was more than a little s**t, he was a grade A a*****e sometimes. He liked to aggravate and taunt and it made him wonder whether or not maybe Jack was a masochist like Ptolemy was. Not that it was any of his business.

Still, he couldn’t just… Be like that with these boys. Wiping his mouth on his sleeve to free himself of the spittle that happened to escape when he fell, Benji readjusted himself, sitting up against the wall of the alley in an attempt to relieve that pain he felt in his gut. He couldn’t quite answer right away as the pain still ran it’s course through him, but after another moment he grinned.

“That’s one hell of a sales pitch there.” He muttered at first, slowly rising to his feet now that he was fairly certain he wasn’t going to get kicked while he was down. “Thanks for the compliments, but I don’t deal with lowlives who gang up on people, even if they are assholes. Whether he deserves it or not doesn’t matter. I’m no bully.”

With that, he took a deep breath before launching his tiny self towards the boy who had punched him before, using the wall to give him a bit more momentum, and promptly put his hands on the other’s throat, squeezing down tight, thumbnails digging hard into his adam’s apple. Not the cleanest of methods, but atleast it might keep one out of the four boys down for the count. Wouldn’t stop the others from coming and beating on him in the meantime, though…

“Have it your way,” the second teen answered before leaping forward to get Benji off their friend and gesturing to the other pair to do the same. They attempted to all three pry the smaller kid off the one he was attacking, grabbing his wrists and using their fists to try to weaken his grip. The teens kicked at Benji, tried to twist his fingers and limbs, beat on him, and anything else they could to get him to back off. Not to mention get some payback for when he had taken them by surprise the first time he’d encountered them, interrupting their time trying to teach Jack a lesson.

Jack, for his part, continued to munch on his pear as he continued to watch, wondering which way the fight would go. He figured if Benji thought he could defy these guys and take them all on on his own, maybe he was an exceptionally good fighter or he had some trick up his sleeve. On the other hand, he knew from being bullied multiple times that those four assaulting teens were not to be taken lightly. On top of that, Benji had looked pretty exhausted even before the guys had confronted him, so it was difficult to say who would would come out on top once the dust had settled.
Quote:
Benji’s fingernails dug deeper and deeper into the boy’s throat as his friends did their best to pry him loose to no avail. His fingers where clamped down hard like a crocodile's and there was no way in hell they were going to shake him off! And damn did they try! He could have sworn he had even been punched in the head by someone who was doing the best to get him to let go, but he’d be damned if he would! Enough that he could see his fat head slowly turning blue from the lack of oxygen. Now that he was straddling the boy’s chest after he had fallen to the ground, Benji put all of his weight onto the boy’s throat, more worried about finishing one off than coming out alive.

Sadly, that didn’t seem to be the case for the other boys as one of the minor minions had grabbed a nearby garbage bin lid, the kind made from metal, and rammed it hard against his side, digging up hard under his already weakened ribs from where the crystals penetrated his flesh only a few weeks ago. That searing pain was just enough for him to weaken his grip, then again it came and he was knocked off the larger boy, fingernails scraping along the sides of his throat so atleast the bruises that would form there would be accompanied by that nice long set of ten scratches.

For as much pain as he was in, and by gods was he in pain, Benji scrambled to his feet, gasping for breath himself for just a split second before using the fact that two of the minions were tending to their fallen comrade to charge towards the leader, aiming to grab his hair and put all of his weight down on to hit to force him onto the ground. He wasn’t so stupid as to attack the wrong person as he had when he was Chara.

Damn… How long had it been since he had been in a real non-powered scuffle? It was almost exhilarating going off of nothing but his own strength and determination, rather than relying on his magic. Hopefully he wouldn’t accidentally get himself killed by playing too rough. What a ******** lame way to go that would be…

The redhead’s brows shot up as he watched Benji nearly kill the kid he was on. He put a hand to his own neck, recalling a little too vividly what that probably felt like as the victim since he himself had been in that position not too long ago. The culprit that time had seemed to have been a White Moon Senshi that had gone mad, though. This time, it was just a slightly-shorter-than-normal one-eyed teenager, but he was fighting tooth and nail. Did he really mean to murder someone? Jack was already starting to wonder if the injuries the other boy had caused could have been said to have been made in self-defense. Maybe almost any damage could have passed with that reason at this point, but death?

Stupid. So stupid. Jack wasn’t sure who to pity more - the HITS student or his own fellow Romano schoolmates. He didn’t care much for either, but if something irreversible happened, it would be their own faults and he wanted nothing to do with that. Damn, if Benji wasn’t bloodthirsty, though. Did he fight like this at his own school? Didn’t he get in trouble for it? Something must have been seriously wrong with that kid because it seemed he was attacking for more reasons than just to keep the others at bay.
Quote:
The hand grab went well, Benji’s slender fingers, weaving it’s way into the other boy’s hair and pulling him hard onto the ground. They both hit the ground hard, but Benji was quick to twist, and give the man a hard punch to his nose, feeling it crack under the force. And the leader screamed and cursed at the pain he felt even as another punch came down hard against his opponents teeth, hoping that he could stop the wicked boy’s shouts enough to keep the cops from coming.

As his fist was cocked back once more, he suddenly was grabbed from behind and dragged off of the leader. Another set of hands wrapped around his feet and together they threw him against the brick wall of the alley with enough force that knocked the air right out of him and he laid there stunned from toss for a few seconds before slowly rising to his feet once more.

The ferocity of just how angrily Benji was fighting was enough to worry one of the goons to the point where he didn’t bother to go back to trying to subdue Benji, instead focusing on his leader that was bleeding on the ground.

“Boss let’s go! He’s ******** psycho!” He shouted in a panic, doing his best to help the other to his feet. From what he could tell, the crazed little teen wasn’t going to give up until he had killed one of them and he was certain he didn’t want that to be him.
