((Time skip to a few days later after what happened here to whenever Matt decides to return))
Kyle He didn't come back. Kyle had remained seated on the ground in the dark, staring at the door like a puppy waiting for its owner to come home. At first he thought that Matt was late because his infirmary shift went into overtime but it gradually became apparent that the Moon hunter wasn't coming back. Not today at least. He could go to the infirmary to look for Matt he supposed but he didn't want to create a ruckus there and embarrass both Matt and himself. So Kyle stayed in the room, waited and tried to reach out to Semaj in his mind. The incubus ignored him. It felt like he was talking to nothing but a wall. He kept trying regardless. It wasn't like he had anything else to do if this kept up. He couldn't train or go on missions. He didn't want to go anywhere in case Matt came back and he missed him.

Matt stared at the phone, he was going to send a text, let him know that he was going to be busy for the rest of the night but a part of him was still pissed. It didn’t help that Kasi was doing nothing more than egging it on, to be honestly fair she hated the man the day she had figured out she was going to be stuck dealing with him around. Clicking the phone off he stuff it into the jacket pocket and went to one of the few closets he had tucked a duffle bag with a change of clothes in it. Originally the plan was to keep it there if he had offered to do too many shifts and didn’t have time to head back to the room, or if he had pulled one of those sit down on a bench and sleep there but this time was different. Instead Matt threw the bag over his shoulder and headed out of the infirmary and to the portal, he still had plenty of vacation days left and it was definitely a night to use one of them. A few drinks, a movie, maybe buy a new suit would get his anger to ebb off more.

Where was he? Did something happen to Matt outside of these four walls? Did he have to leave for a mission without getting a chance to tell him? Should he continue waiting? Should he leave? Is Matt still mad at him? Is Matt waiting for him to leave because he couldn't say it to his face?
Kyle pondered over the questions repeatedly in his mind as he laid on his side on the floor. He had no idea what was today's date and what time of the day it was. He was hungry but he couldn't work up an appetite to take anything other than sips of water from the bottle he had with him. All he knew was that a lot of time had passed since Matt left the room and him and he didn't want to do anything or go anywhere until the older Moon hunter came back.
< Don't be silly Kyle. If you're absent from your duties without good reason, there'll be consequences. They may even put you back into the pod for Jack knows how long. >
Semaj had emerged from his shell to try to persuade him after a couple of days had passed and he realized what was happening to Kyle. Again.
< ... I don't care. I just want Matt to come back Semaj. He already said that this wasn't about me and him. I've already apologized to you and we're all good now aren't we? He was supposed to come back after his shift days ago. He's avoiding me on purpose isn't he? >
Semaj gave a sigh. Kyle could be really stubborn when he wanted to.
< Yes yes. We're both good now and you promised that you're going to do something to make it all up to me when you're better ok? But you can't just lie there Kyle. You need to eat and keep your strength up so that you can tell Matt in person when he returns what you've done and everything will be alright again. >

It had been a few days that Matt had taken a vacation to Europe with just a duffle bag filled with basic necessities, not telling Kyle where he had disappeared to. It wasn’t that he had any intention of leaving, just there were times where his temper got the better of him, where he needed some time to think about things before having to face the younger hunter again. Usually he would take his board and leave, but considering he had left the sun hunter in their room there was a good chance he was still there and Matt didn’t want to risk the chance of running into him again and have to explain his plan, or even worse follow him. So Europe it was, specifically London to do a little sight seeing on his own, and ordering two new bespoke suits that costed a small fortune with how much of a rush he needed on them, a few other things in terms of supplies for the days he was staying, and something that had caught his eye in a shop that made Kasi scream in the worse of fashion. Most of it was frivolous things, but Matt had hardly spent any of the money he had made over the years other than the occasional vacation trip taken with Kyle. On the last day, Matt packed everything he had purchased in a small new suitcase just as a knock echoed on the hotel door. It was a small woman neatly dressed in the hotel uniform holding a small box wrapped with ribbon who with a gracious smiled handed the package over. “Perfect timing, thank you.” Shutting the door behind him Matt gathered everything up and left the room to head back to the portal, back to Deus, back to Kyle.

It was a very trying period for Semaj over the past couple of days. The incubus did everything he could to rationalize with and coax Kyle to do something instead of doing what he was inclined to do which was to lie around in the room waiting, glooming and doing absolutely nothing because of Matt's temporary absence in his life.
Fortunately for the both of them, Semaj managed to get through to the Sun Hunter in the end which meant that a shower and meal happened at some point. If you count standing under the water without moving for five minutes and eating bits and pieces like a baby bird that is. It wasn't normal for Kyle but it was progress regardless. He could only hope that Matt would return soon before Kyle got assigned a mission that he clearly wasn't in the right state of mind and form to take on at the moment.
=========
A couple more days had passed since Semaj managed to convince him that his fears of Matt walking out on him were unfounded and that neglecting to look after himself wasn't going to do him any favour or put the older Moon hunter in a better mood when he eventually returned from whichever part of the world that he had decided to disappear to.
So Kyle had gone for the shortest infirmary shifts he could take on every other day, kept to himself so that others wouldn't realize that something was wrong, ate whenever Semaj nudged him to, and returned immediately to his room to stare at the door and await Matt's return. All in all he felt terrible. He was hungry but he couldn't eat. He was tired but he couldn't sleep. But not once did Semaj give up on and make fun of him.
< It's been a week now isn't it? Maybe he's already back and waiting for me to give up and return to my room in the basement. >
< That's not true. Matt isn't like that and you know it. He probably just needed to cool his head off for a bit. >
< A bit. A week. Maybe more. > He laughed and shook his head a few times. < I don't know what to think anymore Semaj. I don't know what else I can do or should do. >
< He will come around eventually. You'll see. I'll be with you no matter what happens. >

The portal was of course located in a back alley way where something that smelt like day old fish and milk lingered a little too long in the air. The new suitcase was in one hand with the wrapped parcel while in the other he held two garment bags with unique logos stamped across the front. The voice chimed in as he stopped in front of the portal, as if wavering between the idea.
If it was at all possible for Kasi to roll her eyes she would have as Matt stepped through the portal.
Everything was normal, mostly, with the exception of everything still rather damp from constant rain pouring as Matt left the lighthouse and headed back to the dorm doing his best to avoid the puddles. A part of him hoped that Kyle would be in the room, while the other half hoped to hell that he was out on shift in the infirmary. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to see him it was just, after the first time he had left to deal with his own thoughts the younger sun hadn’t moved from the spot he had left him. Instead he had chosen to become a pile of a mess on the floor and that despite his best to ignore, it infuriated Matt. It in some way had felt like he hadn’t been trusted enough to return in some way or form after dealing with his own emotions, to avoid taking them out on someone else. Instead he was treated like he was the kind of person who would just walk out on the man he loved without some explanation for ending the relationship. It had in some way hurt to know that was how Kyle thought of him, no matter what he did for him.
Reaching the door, Matt stood there staring at it for a solid minute, it felt stupid to knock but he didn’t want to walk in, he wasn’t even sure what he would do when if he found Kyle just laying there.
Finally shuffling the suitcase on the floor with the parcel perched on top he pulled out his keys and unlocked the door pushing it slowly open.
“Hey?”

Despite Kyle putting in his best effort at trying to stay awake so that he could continue his watchful waiting for Matt's return, the Sun hunter had nodded off at some point without even realizing it himself. Laying on his side on the bed in one of Matt's shirts that was matched with a pair of shorts that was his own, Kyle's arms were encircled around Matt's pillow, his face buried in the lingering scent that was the missing Moon hunter's.
At the sound of Matt's voice that was called out somewhat tentatively, Kyle began to stir, a hand rising to rub at his face as he craned his neck to look up at the door and Matt who was standing at the doorway. "... Matt?" He quickly sat up, the pillow that he had been curled around seconds ago tossed aside so that he could jump off the bed, lunge himself towards the older hunter and wrap his arms around him in a tight hug.
"Are you real? Please tell me that you are. Please don't let this be a dream..."

“I am pretty sure I am real.” Matt wrapped his arms around the younger hunter before pressing a cheek to the top of his head. A wave of guilt washed over him at being away for so long but if anything Matt knew it had been for the best, not only for him but for Kyle and his weapon. There was also the feeling of relief, relief that he hadn’t found Kyle on the floor where he had left him last and at least taking some sort of a nap and to have showered at some point. A week of not moving would have meant that not only would he have been in a terrible state but he hadn’t even talked to Semaj at all. “I am sorry I was gone for so long. I did bring back a gift… maybe a peace offering a little.” Maybe a little bit as a celebratory reward for trying to grow a little more with his weapon at least that was the only thing Matt could have hoped happened.

"I am pretty sure I am real."
Kyle clung tighter onto Matt at his words, having no intention of letting him go any time soon now that he was finally back. "It's ok. Really. It's really really ok. Just don't go away like that again. Please." He implored in a small voice that was barely above a whisper as he rested his head on the Moon's shoulder.
He's back. He really is back. Everything between them will be good again and that was all that mattered. The Sun kept telling himself over and over again. Matt might have been gone for only a week but time seemed to have slowed to a crawl by the waiting with no apparent end in sight. So much so that it felt almost as if Matt had been gone for years and Kyle was only barely able to get by with Semaj's help, prodding and sympathy.
< Good for you. Just don't forget that you owe me something which I have every intention of claiming once you have properly rested and don't look like the walking dead. >
"... a gift?" He pulled back a little so that he could look up at Matt though he kept his arms around him still, a puzzled expression crossing his face as he blinked a few times at the mention of a present.
