The redheaded teenager sulked as he wandered through the castle. He was so bored and there were a limited amount of things he had found to do. Investigating things and potentially trying to find a way to leave this place seemed to be a top priority for the others of his court, but with so many people already doing that, Sinope didn't really feel like joining their numbers. He longed to find something to read, but despite the presence of a library filled with books, he had found nothing he had been able to decipher the text of.
Once in a while, Sinope would half-heartedly try a door he passed down a hall or attempt to speak to a servant without expecting a reply. He didn't actually expect to find anything out, however. The way he saw it, Queen Altea wouldn't allow them to happen upon anything she didn't want them happening upon, so poking around wasn't going to do them much good in terms of finding out significant information she hadn't yet told them. It was like trying to gather information from someone by politely and courteously interrogating them on their own terms.
He had just been about to head back the way he had come, resigning himself to trying to understand the pictures of whatever illustrated books he could find, when he noticed another of his court walking down the hallway. She had black hair with bright blue streaks and her eyes were fire and ice. This was the young woman who Acubens had kissed and was presumably going out with. Sinope knew next to nothing else about her. This was his chance to find out more. He figured it would have been more interesting than what he'd had in mind, at least.
"Hey," he greeted, giving her a brisk, casual wave and an uncertain smile. "What's up?"

Her confidence was a little shaken. Chione had entered into this new funhouse ready, excited. Confident…but now…now she just felt lost, and somewhat confused. She had hardly seen Acubens during her days…? Hours? However long they had been there, it felt as though she was on one side of some vast ocean, and Acubens was somewhere else completely. Thank goodness for Elsa.
Today though, she was wondering aimlessly once again, spirits low, feeling quite dejected.
Someone was speaking to her though, popping the bubble of unhappiness that she had formed around herself, and she blinked, glancing up and seeing the senshi with the cute little ear hood on.
“Oh, hey. Everything okay?” He seemed young. Maybe he was as concerned as she was about this. Maybe he was lonely and scared…and honestly, maybe he was all alone. Perhaps she should have been trying to check on the others rather than just worry about her own issues. Maybe that would have made things easier. “I’m uh. I’m Chione. Senshi of blizzards. It’s nice to meet you…I like your hood. It’s really cute.”

"No. I'm dying of boredom," he answered with a groan, his face falling as he dramatically slumped his shoulders. "You don't look like you're having too great a time yourself, though. Something the matter?" Crossing his arms, he cocked his head at her curiously.
Upon Chione's introduction, the younger senshi nodded. "Blizzards? That's cool. I'm Sinope of Slyness. Nice to meet you too." He had a little trouble taking the compliment regarding his hood as, well...a compliment. Being called cute made him want to cringe and he reddened slightly in embarrassment.
"Er, thanks," he managed with an awkward, crooked smile as he self-consciously tugged on one of the hood's ears. "Kinda makes me feel a little stupid, but whatever." Sneering, he added, "Heh...so far I think I might be the youngest dark mirror senshi in our court, so most people don't seem to take me seriously anyway." Sinope shrugged.
"So...what do you think of this place?" he asked, unfolding one arm to gesture vaguely at their surroundings. "And the situation we're in, of course. I know some people have been able to take it better than others. The older senshi seem especially suspicious, but I guess I haven't been a senshi long enough myself to imagine exactly what they might be worried about." He scratched his head. "Do you have any ideas?"Orangeish Sherbert ((Sorry for the delay! ^_^ wink )

“Nothing’s really…the matter I’m just…it’s stupid. I guess you just really don’t know someone until you’ve been in a stressful situation with them, or some other sagely wisdom…it’s nothing really important in any case, but…you think you’re the youngest in the group? How old are you?”
What an interesting thought…what was the age range for this sort of…business. Was there an age range? She couldn’t really think of any…little kids in the court, though she had heard that some were a part of the other side…which was kind of an awkward situation, and at least her group had good sense and didn’t do things like that to kids…at least before they could really know what was going on.
Chione paused, realizing that she had missed some of what this other senshi…Sinope? Was that the name he gave? Whoops. She had missed a lot of what he said. “I um…I’m not really a fan of it, honestly…and I’m not really…I’ve been a senshi for a while I just haven’t…done much, you know? But when you get dragged in by someone who’s super passionate about the court…you start to no longer have a choice about…doing things…but…I agree that this place is creepy…and I would rather just be home…Have you tried going through any mirrors? I know…I know we were told it wouldn’t work but…do you think anyone has tried yet? I haven’t…but maybe we should, if you want to? It could be a little side adventure and a good uh way to…fail and get to know one another, yeah?”
She forced a grin that made her seem at least a little bit hopeful, despite the ball of dread that sat growing in her stomach, getting worse by the hour.Kitomyx Now I'm the one who's sorry for the wait! ;;

Though she claimed nothing was the matter, the young woman soon began to explain a bit of what was troubling her and Sinope's ears perked. Hazel eyes glittered with interest and a wry grin slid across his face.
"Yeah. People don't tend to show their true colors until they're under a lot of stress, especially with conflict of some sort. Like that saying that says 'you can tell a lot about a person by the way they handle a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights."
He chuckled. "Or my magic. That definitely gets to people." The younger senshi glanced around at their crystalline surroundings. "But this situation definitely takes the cake, I think." With a slight frown, he asked, "Why? Trouble in paradise?"
The question about his age caused him to stand a little straighter, crossing his arms as he answered, "Sixteen. How old are you?" While he could understand her dislike of their present circumstances, Sinope was surprised to hear that Chione hadn't seemed to much enjoy what time she'd spent as a senshi even if it had been longer than his own.
"Really? You haven't done much as a senshi?" He shook his head. "Who roped you into joining?" The redhead was of the opinion that one always had a choice. Perhaps Chione hadn't felt like she had a choice because she wanted to make whomever it was that had 'dragged' her in happy. Still, though, she couldn't hate it, right? He'd been under the impression that the Black Mirror wouldn't accept any potential new court members against their will.
"Okay, look. I'm as ready to sit out a fight as the next guy. This war is definitely not my scene, either. But isn't having powers and heightened abilities fun on its own? Going places and doing things you could never do as your civilian self?"
Making a vague, careless gesture with a hand, he added, "Maybe I'll never be any higher up the totem pole than now since I don't take this senshi stuff seriously, but that sure doesn't mean I'm not enjoying where I am now. All this magic and minimal responsibilities? Yes, please.
"And we don't get attacked on sight like the other factions do; especially if we seem like a low enough rank that they can afford to ignore us because we're not deemed a threat." He folded his arms behind his head in a carefree manner. "Sounds to me like the best place to be. Well...if we can get out of this damn castle."
At the question about mirrors, Sinope raised a brow at her. He was fairly sure someone must have tried one by now, but why not be absolutely certain by testing one out for themselves? "Sure, why not? I've got nothing better to do." He thought back to the experiment he'd performed at Altea's banquet table. "I managed to summon a mirrorwraith earlier. If they can go through the mirror shards we have, I'd say it's worth giving it a try. Can't believe everything you're told just on principle, right?"
With a quirky little smile, he began to head toward the last place he thought he remembered seeing a mirror. "Any in particular you want to try? I think I passed a full-length one just down this hall the other day if you have no objections to that."

“I’m twenty one. But I was eighteen when I got into all of this mirror mess…I’ve just avoided it as much as I possibly could. I got roped in by Leto, I suppose. I don’t really remember. But I made my brother come and join after and I think…I regret that decision now.” Laughing lightly, Chione tried to avoid his questions about there being trouble in paradise. It wasn’t his business…and as much as she wanted to rage and storm…this was a sixteen year old kid…what advice could he give on love and not getting attention from one’s girlfriend?
She couldn’t help the smile that twitched onto her face as he described why he liked the court…it was an adventure, even she could appreciate that but…but it was a lot of stupid politics too, and people arguing and things she just didn’t…care about.
Though…the idea of leaving the castle.
“I wasn’t even supposed to be here. I just…followed on a whim. I should have stayed home. It might have gone better for…for things.”
Still though, she followed Sinope towards the mirror he spoke of. “Full length sounds like the best option I think. I never have liked diving into them…it’s awkward, to be honest. Besides, it just gives that great…effect if you walk into a mirror like a superstar and just…vanish. I suppose that is what I like about the court. The theatrics of it. The…the wow factor.”
The ability to just vanish whenever she wanted.

"Leto?" he repeated, astonished. "The princess? Well..guess it'd be kinda hard to say no to her..." Not that he really knew the woman, but Sinope imagined it would be hard to say no to any royal if they wanted you to do something. That's why he'd worked hard to stay out of their way and their notice. It wasn't difficult when one was just a basic senshi. "Why do you regret your brother joining, though? He bother you about court stuff?"
It didn't slip his notice that Chione skipped out on answering some of his questions, but he expected as much. After all, a lot had been personal and they were virtually strangers to each other. Besides, he had asked them to find out how open she felt about discussing the subjects he'd brought up more so than out of curiosity for the subjects themselves. Her evasion had told him everything he'd wanted to know. The unbidden smile that seemed to disrupt her expression stirred his interest, however.
"Hey, I don't think any of us were ]supposed to be here," he tried to empathize. But what did she mean by 'things'? Surely not the subject she'd just made a point to ignore? Perhaps it meant more to her and occupied her mind more than she could keep from expressing. Sinope couldn't help but prod at it experimentally. "What things would have gone better? Going to school, doing homework, living day after boring, predictable day?"
As they talked, they eventually reached the glass specimen he had been referring to and Sinope halted before its dark surface. "Dive?" he repeated, snorting. "People actually do that? I figured it was called mirrorwalking for a reason. I know it kinda feels and looks like water when you go in, but who's actually tried to dive into one? Diving into anything is unnerving enough. Never know when you might break your neck."
He agreed with her about the presentation, amused that she even thought about things like that when she didn't seem all that enthused about being a Dark Mirror Senshi in the first place. He supposed it was true that from a civilian's perspective, it might have been one of the coolest aspects of being part of the Dark Mirror Court. "It is pretty awesome. Like Alice Through the Looking Glass."
Dark as the glass was, it seemed smoky, reminding Sinope of the mirrors in the Throne Room within Mirrorspace. But was something...moving in there? "Uh...is it just me, or is this mirror different from the others? Looks like it has smoke or something in it." It almost seemed like a night storm with the way the shadows churned like thunder clouds. And then...had he imagined that, or was there a flash, like lightning? Blinking rapidly, the younger senshi rubbed his eyes and looked again.
"Speaking of smoke and mirrors..." Peering left and right, glancing up and down the hall, Sinope could see no one else. "...Wonder if someone's playing tricks."
Now that he thought of it...this mirror's surface may have looked similar to the ones in the Throne room, but something about it reminded him of one in particular. While all seemed to have something swirling just beyond their glass surfaces, the towering Black Mirror which had first sucked him in as a civilian gave off the same eerie, dark aura that this one did.
The recollection was starting to give him the creeps. Glancing toward Chione, he wondered if she was of a like mind.
