Caught my eye, and I'll be frank:
Are you guys actually here just because you're curious, or are you going to farm the guild for ways to "defeat" Judaism while evangelising later on? It's just that this is something I've seen before, plenty, and I'm (fairly, I think) doubting of your sincerety here.
No offense, or anything.

*gives Shem a cookie* Silly. Is it just me, or should I feel weird that I've never really encountered anyone trying to convert me? Is it something to do with being a prickly New Yorker? sweatdrop

Is it something to do with being a prickly New Yorker? sweatdrop If you're still in NYC, yeah, you won't get it. Head on down to the Bible Belt, they'll show you a great time. Evangelism "teams" every Monday night, trained in half-brained apologetics (including against Judaism, Islam, and secularism) who go door-to-door seeing if they can convert someone in a 30 minute window, or at least get them to their church.

Evangelism "teams" every Monday night, trained in half-brained apologetics (including against Judaism, Islam, and secularism) who go door-to-door seeing if they can convert someone in a 30 minute window, or at least get them to their church. Good lord, the evangelizing in my town. I can't go out to the mall without getting verbally assaulted. >.<

The closest I ever came to evangelists at my door were two really nice mormans. They spoke French and stuff whee But yeah...Being assaulted like that is definately a foreign concept to me. Kao, if you ever need to escape, lemme know... I have lots of cookies and live pretty close to NYC *.*

There used to be an old crazy guy with a giant wooden cross down by the city pier. =D
He used to shout out bible versus and tell everyone to repent for the end was nigh.
I really don't think anyone joining this guild are trying to find ways to bring about the end to Judaism. They're probably just curious and want learn what it's all about from the source.
Think of it as promoting cultural understanding.

I prefer to called a Messianic myself, and NO I'm not here to proselytize, I'm here to speak with other Jews about Jewish issues that no Goy could understand. In fact upon joining this guild I promised to be sensitive about discussing certain issues and to not mention J.C. or Y.M. If I want to talk about those things I'll do it in the ED or one the 11 Christian guilds or my very own guild which I am the captain of. I'm just here to be with my Mishpocha, to teach alittle Yiddish, learn some more Ivrit and to hear the newist joke. 3nodding

A couple of times once inawhile theres a converter at our door... But then my mom yells at them to go. Of course, if they're nice she'll just ask them to go. There once was this boy in my class who was trying to for a month I think, (He didn't say it right out)

Hmm, I don't know... I'm pretty oblivious to that sort of thing. I live in Texas, but people don't really care all that much - although this one Christian boy joined our Hebrew classes. He got kicked out after he kept trying to convert us. Other than that, I've never noticed...
On the other hand, I'm the only Jew at my school, and all these J4J students keep trying to corner me...

I can't really say anything in this issue since i'm cathlic, but not by choice. I would like to become jewish, I study the religion as best as I posibably can by myself, I don't really get anywhere, but this guild really helps me alot. I would hate it if someone tried to farm the guild up or something evil and take it over. -.-
