 There was a soft thud as the half serpent dropped to the forest floor. His hood flared as he sought to cool himself off for a moment. He was bored. Nothing here was holding his attention for long. The hunting was better than his homeland, way better. He slithered along, his front paws picking his path that his long serpentine body followed. Things were peaceful here in this part of the forest. Perhaps that's why he liked to hunt here so often. Peace meant unsuspecting prey. Which in turn meant he would get a chance to chase and get that thrill of the hunt. Every instinct he had prickled when he scented something...two somethings. Snakes. He hadn't seen another snake around these lands since he arrived. The male let his scent carry on the winds. Rising his upper body to get a better view. His tongue flickered out to scent just exactly who was there.

His wasn't at all to proud of what she had been doing. Her stomach was warmed with parts of her fellow kind, ulaya. Maybe not exactly her kind, as she had felt ostracized by them anyhow. But something in her knew it was wrong, and for that she had a hard time coming to tell her sister about it, but she found out shortly after Hiss was attacked by an ulaya.
His name, unknown to her, but his fur was bright reds... He took a chunk out of her, and had nailed her down. She tried her best to force an attack, and her snakes, like always protected her with strikes to his eyes and nose, a death grip upon his snout but he seemed reluctant to go down. She thought she was done for... but something happened and the massive body fell upon her... Twitching and gasping for life in to her snakes mouths.
"Hisssses~~~~~~ss~~ssssssss~ssss~~sss~sssss~ssss"
("Is he poisoned..?...... That means we can't eat him now.." )
She didn't want to look at her sister's face however, that- that was her response... But what she thought her sister didn't know, was that she had been hunting ulaya, and bringing them back as of late, in pieces, so nothing was too identifyable. Why? One may ask, but it was because they had gone without so long, that when she happened on a dead one in the forest- she ate it- and it warmed her starving stomach that had slicked against her rib cage. This would keep them for longer periods of time. This would be their salvation...
That was not even a week before. By this moment, someone had desecrated their den.. and when she came back she Hissed- and hissed for her sister. Where was she.... where had she gone.. Worry began to sink in as she jumped in to the water, slithering upstream to find her.. Was it her sister that broke their den? Did she disgusted by what Hiss was hunting? Did her sister leave her- She didn't know and the unknown was killing the instinctual animal that is Hiss...

When Hisses stood over the body of her sister's attacker, her expression was blank, as it usually was. She was cold, emotionless, but that wasn't outside of the norm for her. The snake head at the tip of her tail was still latched upon the body of the brightly colored male. Her thick tail gave a twitch and was wrenched from the meat of the carcass, the mouth stretched wide, glistening fangs retracting as she lowered it.
"He can't eat you now. I can eat him."
She didn't care that they were of the same kind, prey was prey. You either were prey, or you ate prey. She'd never been taught anything otherwise. Today they would eat, tomorrow they might be eaten.
When Hiss wouldn't look at her, she shrugged it off without even a shrug, catching the body by the scruff and dragging the dead weight off her sister. She had killed him, perhaps Hiss would butcher it as she had before. They wouldn't go hungry this week, perhaps the next, she did not know.
The day found Hisses sprawled out on a warm rock near the river. The sun sun beat down, hot today, her head was resting on crossed paws, her tail slightly curled against the stone. She wasn't hungry, or especially tired, but the heat of the sun sang to her blood, a temptation impossible to resist and so she'd ended up asleep there, unaware of the state of their den, or the fretfulness of her only kin, her precious sister.

Rune came to the crest of a small hill. His senses alerting him to where the two new scents were. As he slipped down to the bottom he stopped to drum his clawed front paw on a rock as he overlooked the river. He heard of river snakes nearby. Something that had gotten his attention. As he looked around he spotted the quick moment of something in the water. He watched it for a few moments, tracking the path that the snake could be taking. Then he looked further up the river where... His scales prickled as he watched the sunbathing female. He felt his spine arch in excitement. A female. Her pelt was stunning...she was snake. He saw the tail. The male quickly took off letting his tail do most of the moving before he stopped on the other side of the river. She should react if her instinct was sharp. He turned his gaze to the river, would the other follow him here. He wanted to know. Were these the river snakes? His excitement grew at the chance to meet other snakes.

When she dunked in to the water, swimming up the currents and when she needed to get air, she lifted her head, and all her snakes upon her head opened their mouths. Surprised at what she did really and hissed uncontrollably. It was then that one saw Hisses laying out upon a rock. With their alertness, Hiss's brain got the alert as well and she jumped out of the water and on to the bay with much more excitement than she had realized.
She hissed a few times, and went up to her sister, circling her a little before rubbing her sides against the fur and scales of her sister. But that wasn't all,
another of her snakes became alert and saw a shadow- another saw a figure and as if she had many eyes ( and she did )- her head went up in alert and so did all the snakes on top of her head. Standing with concern.. jumping down from the rock and making more hissing sounds in the air of caution.
'Who is there!'
Her snakes began to freak out and bite at each other, disagree and agree-
it was how she was. A few split personalities that may or may not be right but most of all, Hiss wasn't about to get attacked. Her body curled backward in a very odd fashion and lowered as if she were about to strike like a cobra..
