Connie woke in a bit of a daze, wondering what ungodly hour it had to be as the sun still wasn’t quite up itself yet. Getting her clock to find that it was just before sunrise, she let out a heavy groan. She looked around her cozy loft, still a bit baffled that they had once again moved. Though she honestly should’ve known better and seen it coming by this point in her life. At least this time she was excited to be where she was. At the young age of thirteen, she wished they could at least stay here long enough that she was able to find her Genealogy answers or even live on her own, despite the amount of convincing that would take.
Her attention shifted when she heard something fall downstairs in the main area of the apartment, realizing her parents were also awake and having trouble with the time shift. But she also knew that this meant she would not be getting anymore sleep this morning.

Grumply leaving her warm, cozy bed so that she could get ready for the day. At least it should be fun and full of exploring her new city. She knew she had a lot to learn after all. Maybe she would even go get her hair dyed like her parents promised she could. Connie knew she needed to get it done before they went back on their words. Not that they did it often but she didn’t want to take the risk.
Connie stood and did her morning stretches before looking over her bullet journal and then heading downstairs to the bathroom. After that she headed for the kitchen, finally finding her parents who had started making breakfast after hearing her get up.

“Morning Pear-Bear!” her dad had started, “Get any better sleep than we did?”

Connie laughed, why did he call her that? She felt like she’d never get it and he swore he’d never tell. “I guess so. Still a bit jet-lagged I think..” She replied, a yawn sneaking up on her from her laugh.

“Any big plans today?” Her mom asked, leaning on the kitchen counter and sipping on her coffee. She was already in her nurse scrubs, making Connie’s brow wrinkle but she tired to shake it off.
“Yeah, I’m gonna go exploring. Maybe map out all the local parks and the way to school at least.” She said, taking a bowl of hot oatmeal that her dad was handing off. “I think I might try to see if I can go do that thing today too.”

Her dad was the one with the wrinkled brow now. “What thing??”

Connie sighed between bites. “Daaaad, don’t do this! You know you want to see what I do with it, riiiight?” She pleaded, hoping he honestly hadn’t forgot.

“Oh- uh.. OH! The thing, your hair right?” He asked and then laughed it off. “Yeah, yeah. If you think it’ll make you cool Pear-Bear.”

She rolled her eyes. Yeah, cool. Totally what she was going for. Because she had ever been cool a dad in her life.

Her mom laughed, “Ok, ok you two. I’ve got to head out! They’re starting me early today!” Connie sighed. Her mom frowned but gave Connie a big hug before turning to hug and kiss her husband. “You too have a great day! Big sure you be safe on that skateboard Connie, you don’t know this area. I’ll text you on my break when I can. And please-”

“Mooom, I’ll be fine! Hurry and go before you’re late.” Connie replied, turning in her seat as she ate to watch her mom walk out. “I’ll send you pictures after!”

“Thank you baby, love you!” She smiled. Connie forced out, hating seeing her mom stressed. “Love you too!” And then she was gone. Connie sighed, shaking her head and getting up to put her bowl in the dishwasher.

“I’m gonna go get ready for the day, you should too.” She said, remind her dad of the time as he noticed the sun had slowly started creeping in through their apartment’s windows.
“Oh, you’re right!” He said, hurriedly placing his cup away too and giving her a quick side hug before headed to his room on the other side of the massive apartment. “You be safe today!”

“You too!” She replied and quickly headed back to her room in the loft. Connie honestly wondered how he was such a smart scientist at time but she supposed, the best has moments of weakness.

Connie quickly got dressed; Despite it being early April she put on a sports bra, her favorite loose oversized white tank top that featured a Cactus graphic on the front, with some sports shorts before finally her ankle socks and skater type shoes. Deciding to not actually take her board today though, so that she could take more time processing the city and it’s maps. She did grab her packback; stuffing her hoodie and bullet journal inside along with some pens and pencils. Looking around the room to see if she’d miss anything, she turned and snagged her phone off of her night stand before hurring down stairs.
She was a bit disappointed to find her dad had somehow already left but she couldn’t say she was surprised by it. Stopping, she pulled out her phone to look for a hair salon, happily finding one that seemed to specialize what she was looking for and even seemed to be family own. Not opening for another few hours, Connie quickly messaged them about booking an appointment and headed out the door.

Exploring Destiny City for hours, Connie was started to feel nervous before her alarm suddenly went off, reminding her of her hair appointment. She hurried over only to find someone outside sweeping. Nervous and still having some time to spare, she parked it at a bench across the street from the salon. Taking out her journal to mark down what she had managed to get done already in the day.
