Ruttaga's temper was at a boiling point. Fists clenched and teeth grit, he marched up to the elf, who stared him down coolly without so much as hint of emotion. It tool all his self restraint to keep from hoisting him up by his collar, and laying him flat. Instead he kept his hands at his side, nails digging into his palms.
“Oh yeah?!” Ruttaga retorted. He flared his wings. Fionchaor did not even flinch. Around the pair, their teams watched in uneasy silence. Ruttaga continued, “You wanna say that again to my face?!”

Fionchaor regarded the chimera with a mask of perfect restraint. Behind the visage however he felt nothing but contempt. For the whole match, the other boy had been nothing but a posturing bully with a foul mouth. He blocked Fionchaor at every turn; every move the elf tried to make, every strategy he tried to execute, the chimera foiled all of them. And Fionchaor could find no discernible reason why. He had put up with it for long enough though.
“I'm sorry, I thought I did,” Fionchaor replied. “I'll use smaller words so you can understand: you are a primitive ingrate. Or perhaps the word 'loser' would be better suited to your vocabulary.”

Ruttaga's ears burned and his face flushed. His whole body seemed to ignite with anger. “Oh, you're going down, b***h,” he growled. Without another word, he lunged at the elf. Electricity crackled at his finger tips. Before he even realised what he was doing, he sent a bolt of lightning at the elf. A resounding crack filled the air and a brilliant flash of blinded him.

Fionchaor would be lying if he claimed he did not expect the chimera to take action. He had not expected such ferocity however, particularly on the magical front. For the role of an idiot thug, Ruttaga had a better grasp of magic than the elf would have thought. Fionchaor allowed himself to be taken in by his attitude and appearance and made an assumption that he would not be a threat. He would not make the same mistake again.
Forced to his knees from the force of the assault, Fionchaor jerked and twitched, his nerves still coursing with electricity. Clenching his teeth in determination, he pressed the palm of his hand into the grass. His fingers curled and dug into soil. Roots stretched out around him, creeping over the flesh of his arms and legs. Within moments, he felt the energy of the grass surge into him. The grass withered and died as he took the last of its life into his own. He got to his feet.
“You're going to regret that,” he told the chimera.

“Make me,” Ruttaga snapped. He gave a sharp flap of his wings. With a boom, a sudden gust of wind smashed into the elf and flung his body across the field. The chimera followed after him. “Or are you just all talk?”

Body aching, Fionchaor lay sprawled on his belly. He had tumbled at least twenty feet across the field, and he bore the bruises to prove it. Wincing he propped himself up on his elbows. His fingers dug into the dirt. He tried to push himself himself to his feet, but a sharp pain from his left leg made him cry out as he tried not to vomit. He glowered up at the chimera, face fierce and pale.
“You'll regret it,” he reaffirmed. “You will be made to be held accountable for your actions, whether you like it or not.”

Even though Ruttaga was the one standing over the elf, he felt as though he were the one being looked down on. From the smug but defiant look in the elf's eyes to his self-assured words, it did nothing to quell Ruttaga's temper. “Yeah, well...” The clouds had turned black above the field. The wind whipped around them, howling with fury. Ruttaga could feel the cold of rain against his cheek. Overhead, lightning cracked. “Screw you too.”
At his words, a bolt of lightning shot down from the atmosphere. It struck the elf in a blinding flash, causing to lurch and spasm in pain. He was knocked out in a heartbeat.
“Ruttaga!” a voice screamed.
Oh crap. There came that accountability. Lowering his hands, Ruttaga spat off to the side. He would only regret not punching the b*****d.
