Blue Fire Manipulation – in short, she is a pyrokinetic who uniquely produces and manipulates blue flames, which are hotter and more destructive than regular flames. It’s important to note that the things she incinerates do not retain their blue hue if she doesn’t produce it herself.
Her primary uses are projecting fire from her hands. It’s important to note, however, that she is not limited to her hands, merely serving as her foci. It’s easiest to direct the flames from her hands, sometimes her mouth or legs, if she can perceive it as a means of directing the fire.
Otherwise, to make the most out of her powers, she can ignite herself. Her skin, when ignited, possesses a flaming aura, though some might mistake it for transmuting her entire body. In truth, there’s a protective layer of plasma that goes over his skin, which vaporizes but is not limited to bullets.
Do they have any notable weaknesses?
Her fires, due to the heat, are considerably harder to direct. Also, her production of fire is limited by the amount of oxygen in her given environment, and her own flames can be extinguished by a sufficient amount of water, flame retardant foam, and vacuum environments. When oxygen is present again, she can reignite herself with no penalties, however. Otherwise, she has no resistances against standard methods of killing. When she’s not protected by her flame aura, she’s very vulnerable.
What is their personality like?
With little to no reason to use restraint, she is considerably cocky, reckless, and wild. Sydney considers herself a hedonist and thrill-seeker who makes it through her day by telling herself that life’s a big joke that only she—and perhaps a few others—can understand. As a result, there’s very little she takes seriously, and can appear outright nihilistic at times. Her powers have contributed to pyromania, and she derives a unique delight in setting things alight.
A noticeable trait she has is a cruel sense of humor, which becomes incredibly evident when people inquire about her odd code name, telling it like a joke, despite the gloomy content.
What is their backstory?
B.T.’s backstory isn’t the standard sob story, at least not in how she saw it. A father who drank one too many bottles of booze, a mother with one too many needles in her arms at a time; life was garbage, but it went on. Of course, that was bound to change. One day, it become too much for a young girl, and when she caved in, a little factor called “powers” came into the picture, and down went their “shitty little apartment” in New York, her parents with it. She went unharmed, however, sitting at a bench as the fire department and police came by. While she sat there, a John Doe made their way over, watching the fire with her. The stranger’s poor choice of words became the single most important message she would ever know. “Everyone dies, darling,” he told her, “Nothing really matters.” When the police asked her what might have caused the fire, she smiled and told them the toaster must have been on for too long, and that she wasn’t getting her toast anymore.
First came her aunt’s house, then came the fire, then juvie, and another fire, and another, and another. She found herself living the McLain House Fire over and over, and each time it became easier to do it all over again. Sooner or later, Providence stopped her, but a little group called the Dominion surfaced, and when they offered her freedom in exchange for her services, she was ready to comply. Nowadays, the city’s too fancy for her tastes, but she’s content with playing a part in their “deviant supremacy” bullshit.
Is there anything else we need to know?
• While she’s a known smoker, she doesn’t seem to suffer from any long-term repercussions with smoking. Her lungs don’t appear suffer at all from cigarettes.
• Her surname of “McLain” is actually a reference to a character from Danny Phantom called Ember McLain.
