1932 was the year of a mysterious series of storms that appeared across the globe, storms that imbued average humans with the capacity for power, though this power wouldn’t surface until decades after. 1967 was a year when the first sightings of supposed superhumans appeared, and the 1970s saw the creation of Providence, an organization that sought out, sheltered, and studied these superhumans, later dubbing them “deviants” to give them a sense of identity, with the ultimate goal of seeing humanity advance hand-in-hand with the deviant population. While the existence of deviants remained nothing more than an urban legend for years to come, their big reveal came in 2009, when The Dominion sought to make their existence public by attacking L.A.

Ever since the 2009 incident, deviants have surfaced all over the world heroes, criminals, terrorists, vigilantes, each with their own agendas. With so many surfacing, many groups rose to demand laws in place, outlawing the usage of their extraordinary powers, and branding deviants as a menace. Providence was under heightened scrutiny, but remained steadfast to their dream of a unified world. However, to rival this ideal, a group known as the Dominion emerged, the self-declared visionaries—composed entirely of deviants—who desired subjugating the human race under deviant rule. The world clashed as views served as cause to feud, turning cities into battlefields and leaving them asunder, a vicious war that has left the world hanging in the balance…

PROVIDENCE

An organization built on hope, Providence seeks a world where deviants and human can live in relative harmony. Long before the 2009 incident, they have sheltered deviants, studying them and finding ways to help them control and understand their gifts. By the time of the war, Providence spearheaded the fight against the Dominion. Their main headquarters is in Washington D.C.

THE DOMINION

Dubbed as terrorists by popular media, the Dominion is a group of deviants looking to force their will upon humanity, whom they view as an inferior species. It is their dream to usher in a world where deviants live privileged lives due to their unique powers. Their base of operations is in their very own artificial island, a city-state by the name of Nova Diem.

RULES THAT YOU SHOULD READ VERY CAREFULLY

1. Please remain active! If you will be absent from the story, please inform the crew or myself so we can progress ahead of you, or if the role is vital enough, take on a temporary/permanent replacement. I understand that you have your own lives.
2. If you haven’t already noticed, we’re entitled to follow Gaia Online’s rules. It’s their site!
3. If or when you have new ideas, things like new locations, don’t be afraid to share. It’s our story, and as such, your creativity is appreciated always. I’m willing to listen, though please use common sense.
4. Romance and drama is encouraged always, though if things get too nasty, be considerate and time-skip.
5. Don’t god-mod! It includes auto-hitting or controlling other characters without the user’s permission.
6. Let’s keep this semi-literate and above. I’m not expecting fifteen paragraphs all the time, but at least put some effort into your submission so other writers have enough to work with. I’d say five sentences is the bare minimum for a post.
7. If you’d like to join, put the word power into your join request so I know you actually read the rules. Include a sample of your writing at the length of a paragraph (unless I invited you or already know).
8. Do not begin posting until your character has been approved by myself or the crew.
9. Do not speak out-of-character too often in the story. It’s okay occasionally, but there’s a thread for that.
10. When quoting other people to notify them that you’ve replied, don’t quote their entire post.
11. No, there is no limit to the amount of characters you can have, just as long as you keep up with them.
12. You are expected to be respectful of other role-players. It’s common courtesy towards others.
