Saturday March 24, 9:00 PM.

"Mysterious blue lightning." That's what the reports had stated, all centered around one particular college campus. That particular detail apparently had slipped by them, but not Guerrero. He had noticed that all the sightings were in an area around the campus. From there it had been a matter of mapping out the movements of its inhabitants/visitors for the period of the sightings. People underestimated just how many "suspects" could be eliminated through careful observation.

What was more interesting was that all of the sightings confirmed that whoever the blue lightning was, they were leaving from the campus dressed up. But it didn't mean it was a resident there. Might merely be a student with access to the campus. After all, what better way to throw off a tail?

Determining that had taken more time, but Guerrero was confident that he had his target.

With that said, if he was right. He was now patiently waiting in his suspected target's apartment: one Callie Carlisle was due to return soon. He'd have his answers and perhaps, something more.

It was 9PM, and the weekend was busier than she anticipated. Her trek up the stairs to her apartment was relatively slow, but she eventually made it, unlocking the door. While she had her powers, she seldom used them unless she was at school (usually the parking lot or some other emptier space). For simple matters, such as scaling the stairs, she would merely walk; the last thing she needed was for someone to trace any sightings of peculiar blue lightning to her apartment. Of course, it was all for naught, because she hadn’t expected someone to follow every single lead and seek her out as diligently as they did. It didn’t cross her mind when she turned the knob, stepping inside in her afternoon attire, ready to let loose on the nearest couch and enjoy some insignificant but entertaining shows on television that would hold her interest for a couple minutes. Instead, her eyes settled on a mysterious figure seated on an armchair beneath lamplight, looking at her expectantly. “Umm…” Her response wasn’t necessarily that of abrupt concern or panic, more so of contemplation; part of her believed it might have been a prank orchestrated by her fellow students.

Saturday March 24, 9:02 PM.

"Back by nine on a Saturday night. Guess you're not the party type are you Callie?" He chuckled as he put out the finished cigar he had been smoking. "I'm more surprised that you aren't blitzing out of here in a mad rush."

He made no move to get up, his easy demeanor was no sham. The girl may be fast but Guerrero could match blows with real speedsters and this young girl was a faux-speedster at best. However, the manner in which she did it suggested inventiveness and resourcefulness; two very important traits that he prized highly. Her response to his presence and his... teasing statements would be telling. Would she attempt to deny the implications or pay them no heed? He knew the truth, but the young girl could only hope that Guerrero was guessing, not confirming.

Guerrero slowly started to unwrap a second cigar as he kept his eyes trained on the young girl. "Care for something to drink? Or shall we get straight to business?"

Her eyes narrowed at his wordplay; he was making it obvious how much he knew, and thus far, he had been correct. Her instincts told her to strike him down where he stood for knowing too much, but her brain told her otherwise; he figured that much out for himself. If he came to kill her, he likely would have done it by now, and his careful yet confident movements gave the air that she would have been wise not to act as impulsively as her speedster mindset—despite being a pseudo-speedster—urged her to be. Instead, she would let him say what he needed to say. While the tension of the situation was apparent, she was curious, very curious. It certainly wasn’t what she was expecting after being out and about with her usual super activities. “I may just take you up on that drink.” While she was sure he had seen plenty of straightforward types, and she usually was one, she figured a drink wouldn’t hurt.

Callie's cool response was promising, she hadn't panicked for one, nor tried to attack him. It wouldn't have worked but it meant that she had some measure of being able to read the situation. In all likelihood it was her curiosity that had kept her in check so to speak. She did seem tense, but then he had appeared unannounced in her apartment; once long ago he might have felt a similar tension. Still, her wariness was indeed warranted given her situation so Guerrero could not help but approve. "Allow me to fetch one then. he replied.

Guerrero got up, and went to her kitchen counter. He brought out a few ingredients for a cocktail: Blue Curacao, some peach liquor, a little bourbon whiskey, and a healthy dose of lime mix. Pouring it all into a glass rich in ice, he put the finishing touches before he bringing it to her. "A Blue Lightning. I figured I might as well be apropos." The wry grin held a hint of the jest he had quite brazenly chosen with the drink, but he wanted it to be perfectly clear (if it wasn't already) that he knew who she was.

"Apologies, but I do seem to be a bit blunt today. Miss Carlisle, you've been very busy lately. Trying to maneuver from the shadows, setting up your little investigations through third parties in an attempt to be discreet. I must say, I'm quite impressed. More so because I'm almost positive that you have no training in that regard. So tell me Callie, what have you learned about our mysterious friend Catalyst?"

When she saw the drink, and heard the name, she couldn’t help but smile. “Clever,” she replied, impressed at how much he wanted to relay. If his words didn’t make it clear, that sure did. He used the rumors of blue lightning to find her. He wasn’t too surprised by that; she used her own school as a site to mark her coming and going, though it took some actual sleuthing to distinguish her as the cause.

It was true that she had no formal training; her discreet way of handling things would have been invisible to the layman, but he was evidently not the average John Doe. She sipped the drink quietly as he spoke. “I know that they have an interest in supers, and have captured many—whatever their reason. I know that they experiment on others, and I know that they’re everywhere. I saw people taken in; months after, they emerged with powers. I can’t help but get a little curious with what goes on in this city without my knowing. You probably know by now that I don’t have any agenda against them; I just hate to be in the dark.” It was surprising how unaware people were of what went on right under their noses, and many were content with not knowing; she wasn’t that type of person. If things happened to her, she didn’t want to be the fool who blamed thin air and said, “I don’t know,” when it occurred.

"You haven't learned as much as I might have liked, but more than most. Though, I will admit that I hadn't learned your motivation."

He took a moment to finish his second cigar as he poured a glass of another mix he had made. He honestly hadn't gleaned Callie's motivation. Guerrero had several come to several possibilities due to what information he had gleaned from Callie's background. However, no theory was as good as the truth. That she abhorred the unknown was useful, but could also mean that any explanation might suffice. Was she discerning enough to find the truth lurking between lies? Something to consider.

"Information is a form of power in of itself isn't it?" His eyebrow quirked at his query, he knew better than most how valuable information could be. "What would you say if I offered to pull back the curtain? There is so much more going on in this is city than you'd even begin to suspect. For example, the existence of several organizations vying for pieces of this city. The machinations of Catalyst and the very real effect it is having on the super population of this city. The reason behind SIA's continued ineffectiveness. An issue that is on its way to being resolved. Your resourcefulness is impressive and your natural gifts at subterfuge appealing. Miss Carlisle, I would like to invite you to Ouroboros. Would you think of learning what is really going on in Chicago? Perhaps even having a hand in shaping events?"

“I’m curious, that’s my motivation,” she said simply, finishing up what remained of her drink. It wasn’t like everyone needed some deep agenda that left them obsessed for things like pursuing vengeance. If she wanted money, she would steal; if she wanted information, she would find it sooner or later. In this case, it was more convenient; she didn’t have to sort out what needed to be done, it seemed to come with the job. He made his purpose clearer when he extended an invitation to join his organization. While she could have asked him a number of questions, submerging him in her curiosities, she felt he would do so on his own when the time came, so she kept her response simple with, “Where do we begin?” As cynical and—in some cases—treacherous she could be, she had a simple mindset when it came to these matters; as long as he entertained her curiosity, she would never betray him.

Thursday April 20, 7:10 PM.

Guerrero had warned Callie that he'd be showing up soon. Knowing that she wasn't... punctual was one of her more amusing foibles. In truth he still deeply respected her natural talents and information gathering so a little untimeliness was easily forgiven. Besides it amused him that he would have a full-course meal prepped by the time she got back, with accompanying custom mixology. He chuckled as he finished setting everything up.

It wasn't a "lavish" meal but it was a hearty one. People often underestimated good food simply because it wasn't fancy enough. He was sure that she'd be surprised at the spread.
