The archer rolled his shoulders as he walked around the outskirts of the settlement. He was on his usual patrol of the area. Making sure that the roads were safe for others. As he walked the youth saw various other tribes. He stopped to hop up to sit on a cast away stack of crates.

Daelin glistened as he walked around with a back pack on his back. It looked weighted down, probably his entire life packed up into one neatly packed bag. He was tired and honestly a bit hungry. Slowly he neared a settlement. Or at least according to the map he'd seen along the way he should be closer to one.

It was hot though, and his pace slowed down before spotted someone up ahead. Maybe they'd know where how much further.

"Excuse me," Daelin called, his voice already deep for a prentice. "Excuse me do you know how much further it is till the inn?"

Isaris blinked as he was asked a simple question. He hopped down. Not that much taller than the younger male before him. He smiled. Well looks like some leaf tribe still had their manners. "Depends on what sort of Inn your looking for..."

He pulled out the map he had of the settlement. "The closest one to us, is the con artist. He likes to play up a woe-is-me act and get more coin out of his patrons. Yeah...even the ones that are carrying everything on their backs." he tapped one the furthest away. "Now this one is furthest away, its owned by sisters and one of them will try to pop any cherry that walks in there. The other will use it as blackmail to get her sister's boyfriend to rough you up for nothing." he rolled his eyes. Then tapped a spot not that far away. "This is your best bet...its two different buildings. One is a Inn that doesn't charge you that much, might even let someone who needs the assist stay there for free. The other building is a well off merchant hold. Its a husband and husband pair."

He chuckled. "Their super sweet and adore learning about their patrons. Just be careful. If you've lost a parent, they tend to switch into. What everyone who knows them calls "Mama Mode"...basically they treat you like their own kid. Not to suffocation...but enough that you realize you could take advantage of them and they'd let you...which I wouldn't suggest because..." he paused as a hulking Shifter/Oban hybrid walked past them with a rather large crossbow. "That's their adopted son."

When the map was pulled out, Daelin moved to look at it as well so he could spot what the other was talking about.

The Con Artist? With that dubious sort of title, he as probably going to steer clear of that one. Pop any cherry? What did that mean? He squinted at that kind of language and just rubbed the back of his neck. He was confused but still listened about the pair of husbands who owned an inn and then a merchant.

"That.. sounds like my best bet, in all honesty," Daelin said simply. If he lost a parent.. Well, Daelin had no parents or family that he knew of, but he wasn't going to bring the conversation down by mentioning that. "....Sounds nice.." And then some hybrid walked past, and Daelin couldn't help but look at the impressive crossbow. "..Oh okay. So, that is probably where I'll go. I have no time to deal with beggars or patience to deal with blackmailers." He'd punch a woman. He didn't care. Daelin hardly cared about the social norms when it came to people ripping him off or trying to coerce him into doing something he didn't want to do.

"Thank you for your help..."

Isaris chuckled. "No problem...did you need any help getting there. Its easy to get turned around in that place. Always busy..." he explained as he rolled up his map. Tucking it away he looked over to the hybrid. "Oi! Jai...I'm going to take this guy into town. Get him settled with a trusted ally so he's not cursing Jauhar like the last group..."

The hybrid nodded silently.

"...Probably," came the gentle reply as Daelin squinted at it. He wasn't the best with directions, but he could definitely fake it... Just be lost for a little while. He watched as the other talked to some hybrid that Daelin didn't even bother hearing the name for and just sighed a little.

Honestly he half felt like he was imposing and wanted to just say never mind, but in the back of his head he figured that would end up more trouble than it was worth. So his happy face slipped on and he spoke again. "Thanks for the help."

Isaris shrugged. "Its no big deal honestly. You look around the same age as my baby brother so I feel like I need to help you out."

He led the other towards where he'd be safest. "So, what's your name?"
PostPosted: Thu Apr 27, 2017 10:29 am

Baby brother. Daelin made a face at that, but it quickly was schooled into a neutral one as his name was asked. "Daelin," came the quiet answer. "My name is Daelin and I don't come from anywhere specifically."

It was almost true to the leaf standards. He claimed no home and just wandered and camped if he had to. He had no caravan, no one traveling with him, so it was a lot easier, and harder in some aspects. At this point in his life, however, he preferred it like this. The dark haired leaf male didn't know what he'd do if someone wanted to tag along. He liked being on his own. Trying to connect with someone on more than a passing-by basis was just setting yourself up for pure disaster.

Isaris had learned a long time ago, the art of watching expressions from any angle. Seemed the leaf youth wasn't one for families. That meant he either didn't have any left or had a really bad time of falling out with them. Either way, it wasn't his issue. As he led the other onward he thought about a few things. "Did you want to grab some food before I guide you further? My crew is just in a tavern nearby, they'd love to share stories with you about travels. A few of them are drifters that come back here every odd month or longer. There's one I haven't seen for a few years now, that's returned with a heck of a story."

At the mention of food, Daelin's face calmed down a bit and a hand went to his stomach. He was absolutely starving. Foraging wasn't the best way to eat, but when he avoided people and had no coin it's all he could do, really.

"..If you're offering. I can pay you back in labor or something." Daelin hated owing people favors. There was something about it that just made his skin crawl. He had seen how cruel people could be when 'favors' were involved. Lording over the one who owed, holding that above their heads for days and sometimes years. It was gross. "I could...I don't know, mend clothes." He was good with needle and thread.

There was a moment Isaris stared at the other with a quirked eyebrow. He chuckled. "Alright...no. This isn't a favor. This is me helping you out. Every so often, this is fine to accept help. You're on your own out here." he shrugged.

"I know how that is...finding your way. Your own feet." he chuckled. "Come on, Daelin. Have faith in others..."

"....Look, I don't take charity." Daelin was completely serious. Despite saying he'd be okay with it if the other was offering, Daelin didn't do anything for free. He didn't like feeling like he owed debts to people. "So either let me pay you back in labor, or I'm... not interested."

The leaf male crossed his arms over his chest and just waited to see what was going to happen. Owing a debt to a complete stranger was the worst feeling he could imagine, to be quite honest.

Oh, here was how his patience was going to be tested today. The older youth took a long inhale before he turned his focus on the younger. "You don't take charity..."

He glanced around, debating if he should just walk away. Those who didn't take charity generally were the stubborn idiots that lost all faith there was goodness left in the world. He took another long inhale. "Alright...how about this...you come join me for a meal...because I led you into town when I didn't have to. As you can see, you could of gotten easily lost. Asking for directions to where I told you to go is foolish. Not many know those two are charitable. Their shrewd merchants on a daily basis, you have to earn their trust. So. Lets go for that meal and then you can have a nice talk with them...either way. You don't have anything to offer me besides company and sometimes that's more than enough in repayment..."

He knew this could go really bad if the youth took offense. Honestly what other choice did the kid have right now? Isaris knew this place because he grew up here pretty much and had worked his butt off gaining everyone's trust. What he said was true however. Sometimes all a person wants is company...

The way Daelin was being talked to was much more irritating than what was being said. The leaf male took a deep breath and just braced himself as the other gave a speech that felt like it was calling him stupid and a child at the same time. His jaw worked and those green eyes narrowed hard at the other male.

"Fine."

That's all he said. It's all he was going to say right now. "Fine I'll keep you company." Honestly he was trying to not say it in a sarcastic way, but if that went through or not, he didn't know. Daelin looked off to the side and just put his hands on his hips slowly. "Lead the way."

There was a long sigh before Isaris led the other to the tavern he spoke of. True to his word there were many there in light armor. Some in ratty clothes. The older half of the two crossed his arms as he side glanced to the other. "If you really want work...one of these guys will be more than happy to help you build up muscle. I honestly have nothing for you to do."
