April 4, 2012: After a troublesome ordeal with trucks just hours before, many heroes have departed for the afternoon. However, moments before going their separate ways, Morningstar requested Millennia meet him atop Sears Tower at 7:30 pm. The nature of his request was undisclosed.

It wasn’t everyday he met with someone other than a reporter or cameraman, especially when he was still wearing his bright costume, but the hero wasn’t discouraged. In fact, he had a setup he was proud of: an old-fashioned wicker basket stood over a picnic blanket, complete with a lovely array of finger-foods. It was very classical, and he’d spent a worthwhile fifteen minutes making sure it was visually appealing. His picnic blanket was set a few feet from the edge of the building, just hugging the edge so they could make the most of the view. Of course, it might’ve been risky to place it there for most, but both could fly, so sitting by the edge wasn’t necessarily an issue. From the warm colors of the blanket and cushions to the placement of the wine bottle, the faint glimmer of the fire itself danced patiently over the dim candles.
He sat by the basket, his right leg extended towards the edge, while his left leg was pulled up comfortably, arms resting behind him, though he was still. It seemed the wind died down from before, and for a few moments, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, the soft gusts of wind innocently gliding through his blonde hair. His skin held a soft, yellow glow, and when he opened his gaze, the presence of sunlight kissed the blue of his eyes. He could tell the sun was going to set in a few minutes; he always knew.

┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ After the truck incident, much rather event, Athena went back to the base of operations with the rest, though this was what she had in mind. Like some of them though, plans changed and she was invited by non other than Morningstar. This was a bit unusual however she dismissed it since he was rather friendly to her liking. As she approached the destination slowly, she could catch a hint or two at what was going on. A small picnic gathering? There was wine, woohoo, but just as she glanced over at the food and could tell hunger was slowly creeping up on her. There he sat, the sun's settings rays making his hair glow, or was that him? Ah well, her feet gently placed on the pavement, making a sort of crunch noise suggesting movement. She thought she had startled him. Speaking up, Athena poked around, walking forward. "Am I late? This is really eye catching, thanks for inviting me." Her deep blue eyes rested along a gentle warm smile, her hands interlocked together in front of her.

< Impressions: Somethin’ Stupid >xxx< Attire: Heroes in Costume >He was distracted, and as a matter of fact, he was caught by surprise when she arrived; the sun had a way of stealing his attention. He laughed at her modest arrival, forming a smile, and replied, “I’m just glad you made it. I won’t complain; you’re here, after all. Come, sit with me.” He patted the space just over the space where he planned to set the food. “It’s a nice view from over here, and sometimes I forget to enjoy it. I figured I would share this time, though.” Of course, with that said, he didn’t want to leave her waiting, and proceeded to fetch the food from the basket. He peered inside, pulling the contents out in order: various slices of cheese, two loaves of bread, a bowl of grapes and strawberries, and finely sliced ham. He didn’t forget the napkins either, proper red cloth, too, just beneath the wine glasses. He took the liberty of removing the gloves of his costume earlier, so he wasn’t at any risk of dirtying himself up. He was also graceful enough of an eater not to drown himself in crumbs, though he hadn’t even started eating yet. When everything was set up, he gestured for her to take as she pleased. As for the wine, he would pour it a bit later once she her share of the finger-foods. All the while, the sun began to set behind him, descending slowly but surely. It was beginning to grow more apparent that he did, in fact, have his own glow, a faint one that radiated over him.

┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ Oh, a gentleman? Without haste, Athena sat where he gestured. She turned to face him, keeping one leg off the ledge and the other on the building. He was retrieving the food from the basket, a kind gesture. Turning back to face the scenery, she looked around the nearby buildings. People were either in their office space or walking about. She inhaled and exhaled slowly, taking in the view as well as the moment. It was nice; nice not seeing violence everyday, not battling another person and knowing they would be captured or worse--dead at her hands. She took a couple slices and placed them to create small sandwiches for herself and figured he'd do the same. A few bites in, no crumbs, success. Athena looked back at him then to the sunset. "It really is."

He let her go first, naturally, and when she seemed to be through preparing her small sandwiches, he made his own, gazing in front of them as he ate. His head tilted slightly to the left, gazing appreciatively at a rare instance of peace in their windy city. “It’s a nice view of the city, a rare find, but you’re not so bad on the eyes either, you know. Not everyday I can convince a woman like yourself for a picnic, especially when we’re dressed like this,” he said. While he had a hunch that there wouldn’t be a need, he was hoping no one needed saving. It would’ve been awful to remark on the view, only to spot some random civilian nearly dropped. However, the tranquil sight said otherwise. He figured discussing their situation was a nice way to break the ice, since he was very much a stranger, despite the small talk exchanged. It took a moment, but he realized the sun would fully set soon enough, so he gently hovered an open palm—which began to glow brightly—over the unlit candles, each lighting one by one.

┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ Athena continued taking normal bites as she herself was rather hungry. Heck, she earned the food so why not indulge a little? Listening to his words, she nodded and looked over once again, closing her mouth after each bite to begin the digestive process. Slowly biting the last piece of the last one she had made, she let him finish what he had to say; they were sweet words nonetheless. "And this is--what is this?" Her hyper cognition caught up with his body language as well as gestures. The candles just confirmed what she had already thought, but she wanted him to explain himself.

He smiled, but didn’t leave her waiting for a response. Instead, he made the conviction of his words known by his own gaze, peering into his eyes and speaking confidently. “It’s a surprise date,” he said straightforwardly. He was a little anxious with preparations, but he wasn’t exactly the nervous type. He scratched the back of his head and added, “I hope you don’t mind. I wanted to learn about you. You’ve got the heart of a hero and you’re probably the prettiest girl I’ve ever met, so I can’t help but get a little curious.” He didn’t just call her the prettiest girl he ever met without merit. It was apparent just by how he looked at her, how appreciative he was to every feature, mask and all. It didn’t hide the depth of her eyes, blue orbs that stood out wonderfully from her face, and the sweet curvature of her smile, one he adored more than the standard Romeo.

┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ Just how she imagined him telling her. A surprise date, woah. "You wanted to learn about me? What is there to learn?" She raised her eyebrow and looked at his direction. She was somewhat playing a game of cat and mouse with him. This whole idea of his was awfully sweet, but she did feel rather nervous despite the previous handful of suitors in the past and throughout her educational career. Athena noticed his fixation on her; his glance gentle, but his eyes piercing at her features as though caressing the way her smile came about, her eyes squinted slightly when she did smile and the color of her eyes glistening from the nearby light fixtures. Was this a wrong thing to do--to build a better bond with someone, but not just anyone--a hero, one of her companions while out on the job. Her mind became clouded and in that moment, she blanked out as her sense of worry overacted her cognitive memory. To add onto of that, her oversight flashed an imagine when she closed her eyes of a snippet of what could potentially occur in a few seconds to the next few minutes. She reopened her eyes and exhaled whatever she saw; she preferred at this moment to see how things unfolded. It gave her a better sense of living in the moment.

He wasn’t a detective, but he could identify some uneasiness, as she seemed to zone out for a few moments in contemplation. Instead of just jumping into a response, he waited a few moments and let her recompose herself before answering her question. “What drives you—what gets you flying out into the world and taking it on,” he giggled, “what you dream of, and what makes you happy. What makes the woman behind the mask who she is? I can’t help but wonder.” After all, she was more than a pretty face, and it was a very lovely face. He shrugged, saying, “I hope I’m not being too nosy.” He didn’t gaze away at all, showing the sincerity and conviction he held. He was fond of her in particular, and it seemed there was no convincing him—whether shyness or anxiety—to look away from her countenance in all its beauty.

┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ What gets her to do what she does? He really went out of his way to ask her what he wanted. He wasn't sounding brooding either and she liked it. "For starters, I wanted to serve justice to the people who cannot be served what they need. It's hard seeing people struggle to meet the ends, and I saw that struggle even if I din't grow up with it...it really gave me a thrive to do something about it. I lost people I called friends to these..bad things." Her eyes peered over the ledge and down below then gazed off into the now darkened sky. The flames the candles had illuminated half of her face. She meant what she said, but avoided going into detail for the wholesome reason of keeping her identity a mystery. "Dream of? Probably, saving more people as my idol has. What makes me happy? Knowing there's a difference that i can make, having that fuel--that power i can share with those who don't push me to do whatever I can to continue. You're not being nosey though, don't worry." She giggled softly; If he wanted to play the unmasking game, she was all for it.

He could tell there was a point of discomfort when she spoke vaguer; she didn’t want to explain what sort of terrible things she was describing, so he wouldn’t push. When she was ready, she would talk, but now was not the time. Of course, a sort of ease reemerged when she spoke of her aspirations. “You really are a hero…” he replied, gazing off into the darkened sky for a few moments. His tone was bittersweet, like her words made him reflect on who he was. “You know, it’s funny, just listening to you, realizing people like you exist—people who came into this with good intentions.” He sighed and began to open up about himself, seeing it fair since she actually tried to answer all of his previous questions. “I didn’t want to be a hero, honestly. I didn’t have a lot of people who looked out for me, and sure as hell didn’t have people who believed in me either. I put together a costume one morning, just to see how it would feel, just to try, thinking that—if I pretended to be a hero—I could actually be one. I was lying to myself, because I only ever wanted to be relevant. I didn’t help people because it was right, I helped people because I wanted to be famous. I stepped into the doors of our team building thinking it was just another shot at fame, and—for a time—it was,” he turned to face her “but something changed.” He managed to smile, gazing affectionally at her. “I saw you, saw the team, and realized I meant something, not as some icon on a screen, but part of a family. I think it was our second patrol together, and seeing you, believing in what you were doing, doing it because it was right, it made me realize there was so much more.” It took a lot more courage from him to admit that then it did just to bring her there, that was certain. He felt she of all people needed to know that she actually made an impact on him, not just as some pretty girl he liked to look at, but as someone who inspired him to be a better person.

┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ She raised her eyebrows at the mention of her as a hero. Surely, everything he said was absorbed, but something lingered in her mind. Was he actual with the cause or was it simply a more selfish thing to do? "Thank you, I'm flattered really." She smiled, slightly turning on her side to partially face the city. Listening to more of what he had to say, he finished things off relatively nicely. "You're not doing such a bad job yourself, you know?" Athena knew she had to tell these things to herself every now and then. She only imagined how he felt, as she was in his shoes once. Beating himself up over situations like these. She was at least glad he continued to wear the mantle, it'd become a symbol of hope not only for the people but the person donning the suit.
