I personally have never been a meerfolk here on Gaia.
Various kinds of daemons/mechanical horrors have been my avis for some time, now I am a dragon (because screw the rules, I had the money).

Query: what kind of merfolk do you mean? "Arielle" of some kind of MtG merfolk? mrgreen

I like the "classic" MtG merfolk more then for example the "Lorwyn" one.

In MtG / General I think I could say I prefer the artistic styles of Mermaids from One Piece / Merfolk from MtG around the mid 80's to 90's block of sets. ^^

Otherwise, Little Mermaid . . the . . fish lips(?) around the waist making it look like a fish was eating them was a bit strange but I'm ok with it I guess.

Ah, Demon/Daemon/Endarkened many names for them xD
I find they are really popular themes so they don't interest me as much.
Also since I draw Animals irl I find it easier/ more interesting to draw Merfolk/Harpy/Lamia/Taur type stuff.

Taurs are really hard to do on any level though; lots of Muscles and stuff.
