There are SO many theories around. Anything from the obvious "Rey is Luke's daughter" to the crazy (?) theory "Rey is a reincarnation of Anakin/the Chosen One".
I'm all for Rey being related to Obi-Wan Kenobi. I feel like Star Wars should always have a Skywalker (Ben) and a Kenobi (Rey). I'd be SO disappointed if she was actually Luke's daughter.
So what do you think? What's your favourite/own theory?
Edit: I can't change the poll any more but please consider the option "Obi-Wan's daughter" to be "descendant" as it's much more likely she's his granddaughter. Sorry, I wasn't paying attention there. Oops.

I'm with you on this one. I'm really hoping the Kenobi theorists are right. If she's not a Kenobi, the Palpatine theory was kinda neat too. My dad is like deadset convinced that she's a Palpatine but I guess we'll see what happens.

But she'll probably be Luke's daughter. The main Star Wars saga is hyper-focused on the Skywalker family, sometimes to its own detriment.

I don't know, the main reason I believe she is NOT Luke's daughter is that Maz told her that her family was dead but SOMEONE ELSE was still alive (Luke).
I've had my share of a good run through all these theories surrounding Rey's unknown parents. At least she's not Han Solo and General Organa's daughter. I doubt she could be Luke Skywalker's daughter.. if that were true, it wouldn't be much of a surprise to find out that she is indeed a Skywalker. If anything at all, I would put my money on the theory of Rey being Emperor Palpatine's daughter, now that would make up for a crazy outcome to the story thereon. Then there's that whole mystery behind the "man in black", being dubbed as Benicio Del Toro's character. Possibilities were tying in that Rey could be his daughter, whoever his character turns out to be. Like they were saying that Sir Del Toro could be playing the role of an aged Ezra Bridger.. and that Rey could very well be a Bridger. But then, recently they caught up with some news regarding Sir Del Toro's character being that of Fett, going by the name Vicrum Fett. So, could he be the son of the late Boba Fett?.. the possibilities on that one is very slim.. .. but seeing a Fett tossed into the plot makes sense, knowing how Luke Skywalker and team had sent Boba Fett to his doom. It could all come together as a revenge plot.. that could work out nicely into the story.
Now mind you, all the above are just rumors and theories.. none of them have been set in stone. We'll just have to wait longer to find out more cannon stuff about the movie.

I think the Skywalker in this saga is Kylo.
I really hope you're right. In support of your side is the fact that Rey's gonna be hanging with Luke for a while, but her parentage isn't supposed to be revealed until the third movie. Luke would probably surpass his own dad as worst in the galaxy if he spent that much time with her without cluing her in.

So let me just say this, in addition: Daisy Ridley stated that Rey's lineage can be figured out from The Force Awakens ALONE. She also stated that at first she thought it was obvious, but then realized after watching the film that it wasn't. It has also been stated by various cast members that basically, she's not Luke's daughter. From this, the most obvious choice would be that she's Obi-Wan's granddaughter... But this doesn't mean she can't also be Palpatine's granddaughter. Ever person has 2 (blood related) grandfathers, and 2 grandmothers, so both can be likely at the SAME TIME. How ever, I find the Palpatine theory a lot less likely, but still plausible, and can go together with the kenobi theory. How ever, depending on which of the two her father came from, she would either be a Kenobi or a Palpatine by name (but can still be both by blood). It would be most likely that her father would be a Kenobi, and highly unlikely that her mother at all was a Palpatine, but plausible, based on the franchise alone.

ninja and I mean Ewan McGregor has offered to do an Obi-Wan movie. That's a good chance to rake in some more cash for Disney.

I personally would love it if she were a descendant of Duchess Satine also but I realize that's a stretch.

I totally agree with you! While I love Luke, I would really prefer her to be a Kenobi. Making her Luke's daughter would just be SO obvious.
