Name: Kalanc Stage: Prentice Height: 5'3'' Sector: Communications Gender: Male 3 Base Traits: Warm, honest, goofball Personality: Kalanc is a warm individual. He's quick with a joke, a smile, or just general stupidness to make someone laugh. He'll go out of his way to act a fool if one of his friends is mad or just needs a pick-me-up. Lying isn't something Kalanc thinks people should do. He detests it. Even white lies he's completely uncomfortable with. It starts drama, and in all honesty, drama is dumb. Despite being an aspiring journalist, he would rather deal with facts than lies and rumors.
Kalanc is raised by his father, who is Lightening. His father works in the Sector of Knowledge, as does his older sister.
Dosh (his father) had a wife before his mother. Her name was Hann. She was in Knowledge just like Dosh. They spent a lot of their time together and their relationship progressed from co-workers, to best friends, to lovers, and to being married. They had a child together, a girl named Naan. Unfortunately Hann left Dosh with Naan to try to better her own life with someone who was a bit more important in their sector.
Years later Dosh met Lefel who is Kalanc's mother, a Geian. He was visiting other Sectors to learn more about them and use it as a tool to create textbooks. He needed subject matter experts and that's when he met Lefel. He interviewed her on her Sector of Communications job and the two spent quite a lot of time together.
They had plans to get officially married after the surprise baby was born, but unfortunately she died due to complications.
The halfling has read the interviews his dad did on his mother. She was really passionate about her job and it flamed his desire to want to explore her Sector. Maybe he'll finally feel connected to her, is what he's hoping.
Kalanc's opinions on his sister are nothing but positive. She protects him from a lot of the negativity that can come with him being such an obvious hybrid. Ever since he was little she has been sticking up for her brother. Nothing she does will ever really be 'wrong' in Kalanc's eyes. She's too good.
In the long run, the halfling wants to start his own newspaper that reaches all over Tendaji, joining all the races together. For now, however, he is more than content to help his father bind old books in new leather or even wooden covers. Sometimes Kalanc is skilled enough to do some simple whittling or pressing patterns into the leather.
