Heras Box hopes this works as an intro -- idek what Akel is doing out here, whatever you please really. Well, it was inevitable. Once in a while, a girl bit off more than she could chew!
Ku had ventured further out than normal, following the shore eastward for want of anything better to do. She had explored so far out now that her curiosity was taking her further and further every week. Most days she was pretty good at keeping track of time, and measuring out her route to make sure she had enough time left to return home safe. For all she liked picnicking out in the wilderness, she’d much rather sleep in her own bed! Especially given the fact that she preferred to travel light, and rarely brought along anything besides the bare necessities (mainly her picnic, and a cloth for picnicking on).
Today was not one of those well-measured days.
It could have been, to be honest. She had read the sky -- it was heavy and silver-grey, and it smelled like a storm. But she loved that! She loved the colour of it, the bigness of it, all this open space and a cool wind in her hair. She moved along, dancing to a song of her own invention, and the skies opened up to let forth sheets and sheets of rain.
In minutes the trail she had followed became impassable, just a rushing stream of water over slippery rock. Laughing, she ran to take shelter under a craggy overhang. Well, with the sky as dark as it was now, and the rain just getting started, there was no getting home before nightfall. She had just resigned herself to the fact when she glimpsed a figure moving through the rain. Was that… was that another Elaria?

This was the farthest she had ever gone on any of her walks. Why she had decided to go so far was easy enough. Akeldama wanted to see what it was that lay beyond the forest barrier. Zinris was secluded from the rest of Yael and from what she heard there were glowing eyed inhabitants living on the other side. Akel wanted to see them for herself. Mostly to see if their eyes really glowed. If so then that would be something interesting. When it started to rain in heavy sheets she made sure to keep to the bigger trees. Their canopies provided better shelter. Akel was content to travel that way, until she heard some... singing? Her long ears lifted a small degree and the coiled antennae on her head straightened. Curiosity was enough to make her get closer. And closer. Of course that took her away from her big trees and into a more open area. Which also meant that she was now soaked and there was no hope of getting dry. When she finally found the source she was a little disappointed. It wasn't a glowing eyed native but one of her own. An Elaria. Though that left her with the question of what they were doing way out here. Not that she had any room to talk. Squinting through the rain she did her best to see who it was and if she knew them. From the looks it seemed as though she was looking at... Ku. One of the original three. If she was right then that made up for not seeing a Yaeli. Moving out of the cover of what little trees were left Akel allowed herself to be seen by the sister.

Well, she was definitely Elaria. Gray skin, curly antenna... she hadn't seen too many earthlings yet, but none of them looked like that, not even through sheets of rainwater. With that fact confirmed, it took her a bit longer to identify the figure.
"Akel! Akel-daaaa-maaa!" She waved at the girl. "Come here, it's dry!"
By the time Akel joined her under her crag-stone roof, Ku had her hands on her hips and a bemused smile on her face. She wasn't mad, or anything like that -- that would just be dumb, Akel wasn't doing anything that she wasn't doing herself -- but she did recognize that her sister did not normally venture out this far. She had never even taken Akel for the explorer type! She was pretty, and talkative at camp, but Ku had always figured she'd snub her nose at crawling about in the rain.
"What are you doing here? I mean, I'm happy to have the company -- especially your company -- but you do know we're not going to get home tonight, right? Not without being absolutely miserable and stubbing our toes in the dark, that is."

Did.. Did Ku just call out her name and drag out the A's? Akel felt her antennae twitch a little at the sound. She wanted to smack her forehead and groan but instead she settled for looking at the ground and clucking her tongue. After she shook her head she moved forward to where the other Elaria was. Of course she was dripping water from everywhere when she finally managed to get under the overhang and to get even for the way her name had been sang out she whipped her hair to send some of the droplets toward Ku. One of her small brows lifted as she was question about what she was doing. "I could ask you the same thing, Ku." As an original child of Elzira she was protected more so than the rest, especially by other Elaria. The mention of her sister happy to have her company made her shut her mouth quickly as she was suddenly a bit confused. What exactly did that mean? The thought was shoved aside as she nodded her head and looked out at the rain, her left hand coming to her mouth to give a whistle as air passed through her fingers. Akeldama called for her familiar to come in as well. The Maglardilla, a native to the mainland, screed as it scurried inside and huddled near Akel's legs. "Yeah, I know. As long as we stay dry we should be alright." She glanced at Ku for a second then looked down at her insect pet. She needed a way to dry it off and warm it up. Nothing on her was dry and her body was cool to the touch thanks to the rain and wind but that may be all she had to work with. "Do you have a blanket?"

"Oh, don't worry about me." Ku flicked her wrist dismissively, leaning back against the stone wall behind her, and sliding downwards against it until she was sitting on the sand. "I'm out all the time. Just didn't think it was your thing, that's all. I only ever see you at the settlement."
She shrugged, like it didn't matter much either way, and nodded at the blanket question. She usually travelled light, and could very well have spent the night with nothing on her at all... but there was no point denying yourself some small comforts, was there? She unknotted a sash that she had been wearing diagonally across her chest. It turned out to be not a piece of clothing, but a rolled-up blanket with a few supplies inside.
She set these things -- a fire-starter and a small knife (not at all big enough to be considered a dagger) -- to the side, and tossed the blanket at Akel.
"It's wet on the outside, but you'll find dry bits. Afterwards we can dry it out with the fire, so we have something to sleep under. It gets cold sometimes, with the wind and all. Do you really spend much time away from home like this? If I'd known you liked wandering around, I'd have asked you to come with me. Most of the others aren't into it, or you know... well, different."
She left the rest unsaid, and gathered some of the dry driftwood around them into a little pile.

So that was her thing? Walking around? Akeldama watched her with a bit of curiosity before she was tossed the blanket. Of course she had noticed everything that had been tucked into it before but her only concern right now was to dry herself and her familiar off. As she started on herself she gave a small snort. "I don't normally go trekking this far out." It was an offhand comment but she did look toward Ku to see if there was a reaction. "I was hoping to see those glowy eyed people that share the island with us." A casual shrug and she was back to drying off. Yava was next to get a rub down with the blanket. The strange mainland bug seemed to enjoy the warmth it found there and when Akel stopped it moved closer to her to steal her body heat. The Elaria didn't seem to mind as she draped the now fully wet blanket over one arm. "Normally you're right, I don't go too far from the settlement. I hunt and train of course but that's about the extent of it." She had no other reason to go anywhere.

"Ooh." Ku pursed her lips when Akel said she had come out this far to see an earthling. "I like tracking them down! I mean, it's sooo fun to scare them, if you can sneak up on them. You should hear how they squeal and scramble! But sometimes I just like watching what they're up to. Hey... wanna know a secret?"
She leaned in, and waited for only the slightest positive response from the other Elaria.
"Once, I just... went into a village." Ku giggled and rubbed her fingers together. "Just walked right in! You should have seen the looks on their faces! Well, some of their faces. A couple earthlings looked at me like I was some kind of stray animal, and that was that. Hmph! Anyway, it's not like I'm the only one to do it, some Elaria have travelled way further out than that, you know. But it's fun anyway. I'd like to see more places soon. I heard there were big cities in other parts of the island, and that kind of thing. I wish we lived in a big city! Not of earthlings, I mean, but of Elaria and Alkidikes maybe. Isn't it kinda boring, our tiny settlement?"
She watched the little creature snuggle closer to Akel, and reached out to take half of the blanket from the other girl, so that they could stretch it out on one side of the fire.
"So... have you seen one yet? A glowy-eyed earthling? Or do you need me to give you some directions?"

When it was divulged that Ku had just gone right into a village of earthlings Akeldama looked at her with slightly wide eyes. It would have been different if she said she came across one or two but to walk unprotected into a village.. Akel hated to think what could have happened. Not that she voiced her concern. Instead she tried to imagine a big city. She was used to their small village. "I'm not sure. I like living in the village. I know the people and the boundaries." It was easier to know if someone or something that wasn't meant to be there had gotten in. The Elaria shook her head softly. "No, not yet. I think this is as far as I will go though." She had no supplies to continue on any farther. Plus it was well out of her comfort zone. Even if she was brave and had her familiar with her.
