"What's up, Elysha?" Lyselle heard Caely answer the call and audible repetitions of now more familiar terms such as chaos signal as well as half of a probable exchange concerning a meet up location confirmed to her that it was one of those calls with regards to a magical war event in Destiny City.
She retraced her steps and returned the containers of food she pulled out of the fridge. However, recollections rushed across her mind as she stood in place at the spot where she had just closed the fridge door, facing the storage appliance with a seemingly unseeing gaze.
The memories that surfaced in her thoughts were of the day she had sprained her ankle when alarm broke out suddenly while their group of four was spending a day out and about exploring the city together. She had gone home questioning her eagerness to become magical herself, to join her friends and alongside them, puzzle through magical events in endeavoring to provide what aid they could towards defending against magical crimes. However, when she found herself in such an actual predicament full of discord, she had been quick to fall into injury; that it was relatively minor was beside the point in her mind as well. Later that day, the saying 'be careful what you wish for' had struck her. Did she really think she could handle even just her own in being a part of such a complicated, grand scale war?
It was while rethinking the determination she thought she had grasped solidly but then felt slipping like sand through her fingers that she met a cat, a talking cat, under the light of the moon. More precisely, she was visited by the cat by her open bedroom window that same day. She had surely been angry at herself. And, stubbornly, she had climbed out and onto the roof to pout in frustration and protest to how crazy she was finding herself. But, shock had instantly placed her into a state of silence inwardly and outwardly, so much so that it was only in the morning that she confirmed she likely did not dream her encounter with the talking cat after all. And days after that were followed by reading up about calabash gourds and mentally repeating the phrases the cat had imparted to her in her not-dream.
And even now, she had yet to transform, to try to say aloud any of those phrases she has been memorizing in her thoughts but had yet to bring herself to share outside of her mind.
That would change today, she decided.
"Lys," Rick addressed her, pulling her fully out of her thinking state, "we'll be back-"
"I'm going, too," she responded before he finished speaking, "This time, I might be able to help."
Caely stepped back inside the apartment and shut the door again.
"What do you mean, Lys? Do you mean-" Caely's words trailed off as they both watched her fumble for several seconds before she finally managed to pull her henshin pen and senshi cell out of one of her pockets.
There was a beat of silence. And that was broken by Caely's next words before she opened the door again and all three of them there exited the apartment together, "Okay, we'll transform on the way before meeting Elysha and starting today's patrol by checking the signal she picked up; let's go."
