Strange snow flurries have been blowing through town, frosting entire buildings. Sometimes they come out of nowhere--overnight, or in the timespan of just a few short hours. Snow falls rapidly and ice coats doors and window, sealing them shut. These snow flurries are knocking out power, and worse--trapping people in buildings and cars. If one of these flurries hits, where do you wind up?
There were a great many worse places to be than a library when a freak snow flurry sealed everyone indoors. Jack was glad of this knowledge as he glanced up from his book to check on the weather outside. A few moments ago, one of the library staff had made an announcement over the intercom to inform visitors of the situation. No one was to leave until the flurries died down a bit and it was deemed safe to go out once more.
As much as he loved books and reading, though, the red-head couldn't help but feel a little restless. Being a class clown, he enjoyed his reputation as a kid who didn't take school or studies very seriously. It also saved him from bullies who inevitably ended up going after him once they found out he was capable of completing their work for them. Stuck in a library, though, there was no telling who he would meet there and what they might tell others. His true nature as a lover of wisdom, knowledge, and books - particularly history books - was in jeopardy of being found out. It wouldn't be so easy to avoid schoolmates if he wasn't able to leave the building. If they chose to pursue him, there were only so many places he could hide.
Jack could only hope no one from Romano's or anyone who would tell someone from Romano's would see him there. He already had plenty of enemies among his schoolmates; people he would very much dislike getting snowed in with. Suddenly he didn't feel so comfortable just sitting around and reading since that essentially made him a sitting duck. Picking himself up, he began to walk around, doing his best not to look like a paranoid as he glanced over his shoulder every so often and attempted to hide his face from people he passed.
Eventually, though, he got bored. Boredom was one of his least favorite things in the whole world; even more so than being bullied. The most infuriating thing was that he had one of his favorite hobbies at his fingertips and he couldn't participate in it if he wanted to keep his guard up. Eventually, however, he managed to persuade himself of a certain idea: surely if he kept on the move and read at the same time, there wouldn't be a problem, right? And he could use his book as a shield to hide his face if someone happened to come by.
The temptation became too great and his attempt to reason with himself won out. In order to combat his dastardly enemy of boredom, he read as he walked around the library, maneuvering mostly by a mental map made from his memories of the library layout. Since he didn't dare be caught in his school library too often, he visited and was thus much more familiar with Destiny City's main public one. Soon, though, Jack was so engrossed in reading the history text in his hands that he didn't realize he was walking right into someone else. His mental map accounted for furniture and consistently present objects, not living people.
"-Oof!"
