Quote: It was like any other light, winter snow. It was chilly and clouds hung in the sky but if you looked up you could swear you could still see the stars. The snow falls gently and coats the ground in a light layer--but these aren't normal snowflakes. Mixed in with the regular snow, crystalized snowflakes seem to be falling. These are roughly the size of a quarter and are light and hollow. They are fragile, like glass, but glisten like a fine cut gem. No one can explain this anomaly, but these small snowflakes won't melt. And they are all over Destiny City. You can find them gently falling to the ground, or lying in the fresh fallen snow. They don't seem evil--but they do make for some cute keepsakes! Rubbing his fingerless gloved hands to warm them, Kit readjusted his scarf about his neck as he waited outside on a the street corner he'd asked Cassie to meet him at. It'd been a while since they'd hung out, the last time having been something of an accident, but more enlightening than he could have imagined. After all, she was the first one in his faction to directly reveal herself to him as a fellow Dark Mirror Senshi from her civilian identity.
Even though they were both from the same court, the young man knew it was no small thing to trust someone else with that kind of knowledge. Being of the same faction didn't automatically keep people from harming each other or harboring ill will toward one another. Kit was pretty sure Cassie hadn't known his civilian identity at the time, nor that they'd already met outside of being powered, but she'd still trusted him anyway.
Furthermore, she'd had no real reason to power up at the music festival other than to accompany him on his mission to satisfy his own curiosity regarding the trouble between the White Moon senshi and Negarverse agents. Perhaps she may have just been curious herself, but either way, he admired her for her willingness to stick around.
Smiling at the conversation they'd had involving Morpheus, he recalled the hints, teasing, assumptions, and confusion that had permeated their talk. He wondered if she knew more about Morpheus' civilian self or any of the others in their court. Kit hadn't minded being kept in the dark, but it was nice to think they could connect beyond just being temporary teammates on the battlefield when necessary.
He held out his hand as the snow began to fall again and recognized the strange, un-melting snowflakes that mixed themselves among the natural ones. He thought perhaps Cassiopeia would enjoy collecting some, so he'd brought along a few glass jars that sat in a paper bag on a bench beside him. Even if they were plentiful, it was intriguing to think that, just like real snowflakes or people, no two were exactly alike.Beejoux ((Sorry it took me so long to set this up! The cold had never sat very well with Cassie. She was a creature of warmth, of beaches and waves, of soaking in the sun. This? This gross business with the snow and the ice, the low temperatures? Nope. Didn't like it. Not one little bit. However, that disdain for the season had never been enough to keep the vagabond indoors for very long. Especially when she had a good reason not to. Kit asking if she'd like to take a walk with him wasn't a bad reason. It'd been a while since she'd seen him, although considering how busy she'd been doing the senshi thing, it hadn't felt like that long. Time sure had a way of slipping by when you weren't paying attention. Ah well, she'd been happy to hear from him. Bundled up against the cold in a a long coat, scarf, and pom topped beanie hat, she made her way down the sidewalk towards the corner they'd agreed to meet at, snow crunching loudly under the tread of her boots. Not just snow, really, but those odd crystals. "Kit!" Hand raised, she waved a glove covered hand at him as she spotted him on the corner, grinning. "Hey, long time no see." She came to a stop beside him, glancing down at his hands and the snow before looking up again.

"Cas! Yeah, no kidding," the young man agreed, not hesitating to envelope her in tight, two-armed hug. "Glad you could make it! I was just checking out these weird snowflakes that don't melt and thought it'd be fun to collect some."
He nudged the paper bag with the glass bottles on the bench on his other side. "To look at or make things with or whatever. Like how people collect seashells just 'cause." Kit snorted at that. "Can you imagine having a jar of seashells, beach sand, and these snowflakes together? It'd be like capturing summer and winter together."
Reaching over to pat the pom-pom of her hat, he chuckled. "Cute outfit you've got there. We don't have to stay outside the whole time if it gets too cold, though."

She had to bounce up on the balls of her feet to return the hug, he was so much taller than her, but it was worth it. Her memories of Kit were all quite fond. Bright eyes dipped once again to his hands, and she picked up one of the un-melting flakes, holding it up so she could see it better. "They're very weird," she admitted thoughtfully, head tilting as she squinted at it, examining the fractals. "Though considering where we live," Cassie laughed. "I guess it's not that weird, after all." Strange things happened all the time, why should a little odd snow be worrisome? So why not collect it? Well, there were probably lots of reasons not to, but Cassie wasn't terribly cautious, so none of those reasons were coming to mind. "I have a jar of sand and shells." Because of course she did. Snorting softly, she reached up to straighten her hat again, stepping up beside him so she could pop her hip against his thigh. "and where would we go, if it gets too cold?"

"Yeah," he chuckled at her comment about where they lived. "Speaking of which...I wasn't sure if you already knew or found out, but...thanks for helping Sailor Ptolemaeus. Back at the music festival."
He grinned as she leaned against his thigh and extended an arm behind her back to snatch her hat from off her head so he could wear it himself. "We could go to a restaurant. Or a movie at the theater. Or my apartment to eat food and watch a movie."

She made an interested noise, tipping her head back to look up at him as he mentioned the music festival, Ptolemaeus, and her brows arched as the dots started connecting. "You know, I had a feeling." There was more she might have said on the matter, but the sudden rush of cold air against the side of her head as he snatched her hat was distracting. "Hey!" Cas aimed a pointy elbow at his side, but stopped short of snatching the hat back. It didn't look half bad on him, and it wasn't as if she really cared. Lips pursed, she folded her arms, leaning against his side again. "Movie, dinner, your place. Startin' to sound like a date, Kit." She aimed a teasing grin up at him.

"That was hilarious, everyone dancing around the direct mention of our court," Kit added, laughing lightly at the memory. "Can't be too careful, though, especially in a situation like that." Regarding Cassie fondly, he smirked and continued, "But evidently, some people are less cautious than others."
He used her hand to ruffle her now-unprotected head of hair. "That a problem?" the young man asked. "I mean, that would all depend on your definition of a date. Just sounds like a bunch of ways to hang out to me." Tilting his head, he asked, "Would it make you feel better if we invited our other mutual Dark Mirror friend?"

Cassie snorted. "What's life without a little risk and adventure?" She'd been reckless, and she knew it, but that was her nature. It was what sent her out in the ocean when the waves were rolling high, and out at night the prowl the night. Even before she'd been brought into the court. Jerking her hand out of his grasp, she made a single, quick swipe through her hair to smooth it again, then made a grab for his hand, fingers lacing with his. "No, not a problem with me." There wasn't much of a difference between a date, or just hanging out. Intent, maybe, or how the evening ended. She supposed it was all a matter of interpretation, like Kit said. She blinked at him when he mentioned inviting Clay along as well, and her head tilted gently to the side. "Would you like to invite him along? Or would you rather spend time with just me?"

"I knew you were a girl after my own heart," Kit answered, beaming proudly. "Nice to be on the same side."
He blinked when she pulled her hand away, watching her smooth down her hair before finding it gripping his own, locking their fingers together. He squeezed playfully. "Glad to hear it, then."
Kit sneered at Cassie's question and shook his head. "He's an interesting guy, but I don't think he'd come if I was the one inviting him. But since I found you two together at the music festival, I couldn't help but wonder if you two had some sort of special relationship. Wouldn't want to intrude upon that if you did, after all."

Cassie had to agree that Clay was interesting. He was a lot of other things as well, but interesting definitely fit. "Actually, I hadn't met Clay until that evening. I was running past one of the entrances to the festival, and he grabbed my arm, asked what was going on. You came running up a couple minutes later." Which made Cassie's willingness to power up in front of the other boy all the more reckless. She didn't have a reason to hide from Ptolemaeus, and would have revealed herself sooner if not for Clay's presence. That did remind her, though. She cocked her head to the side as she looked up at him. "Did you know him before that night? It kinda seemed like you did." Or at least Clay, or maybe Morpheus, knew him. Reaching out, she grabbed the bag with the bottles with her free hand, and gave him a little tug with the other. They were supposed to be taking a walk, after all. "Let's go." There wasn't a destination in mind, but that didn't matter.

Kit's brows rose. "Oh, really? So you guys only met after the chaos began. Huh, surprised he'd grab the arm of a random stranger to ask what was going on. And what were the chances you two were both senshi in the same court without realizing it?" Laughing heartily, he shook his head at the irony of it all. "And then of course I had to come in and meddle, thinking you two were just a couple of civilians caught in the crossfire of the mess between the Negaverse and the White Moon."
"I met Morpheus on a couple prior occasions," the tattooed teen admitted, snickering. "Neither encounter endeared him much to me, as you might have been able to tell. Hahahaha...I was wondering why he was acting so hostile toward me, but since I wasn't aware of our previous interactions at the time, I had no clue what his problem was." He flicked at the pompom atop the hat he'd borrowed. "So I knew him as a senshi and I knew you as a civilian, but you didn't recognize me while I was powered and I didn't recognize him while he wasn't."
Oops; he'd gotten side-tracked with all their talk. Grinning, he followed her lead and attempted to help her with the bottles. "We're not going to get any snowflakes if we're on the move. Or were you that eager to get out of the cold?" Watching the snow again, he said, "I'm glad these things don't melt. Being wet is bad enough, but wet and cold is just awful."

It had been an interesting set of circumstances, to be sure. Ironic and lucky that they were all in the same court, that Kit knew both of them, in one way or another. Cassie shook her head just thinking about it, laughing softly. "It was such a crazy night, but it all worked out. Thank God for that." She hadn't thought it at the time, and it probably wouldn't stick in her mind for long either, but it really had been lucky. A brow arched as Kit went on to explain how he'd know Clay, and she grinned as she gave his hand a squeeze. "What did you do to him to leave him so unendeared?" Honestly, she could see their personalities not being the most compatible right out the box, so it wasn't terribly surprising, but she was curious. "And there's plenty of time to get snowflakes, the nights still young." A little walking wouldn't hurt anything. "I wonder what's gunna happen when the snow melts. Are we just going to have a ton of these laying around all over?" She nudged at a glittering snow bank with the toe of her boot.

The taller youth nodded, reaching an arm over in an attempt to steal back his bag of glass jars. "It's amazing just how much ends up working out when you're willing to go with the flow. I figure you already know that, though, easy-going as you are." Grinning more broadly than ever, Kit cast her a wink. Perhaps she would have been distracted enough by it to ease her grip on his bag.
Cassie's inquiry, however, invoked a new bout of laughter. "Oh, I'm sure you can imagine," he gleefully remarked. "I just treated him the same as I do everyone when I try to be friendly - got all up in his personal space and acted obnoxiously familiar, sweet-talking him with nicknames. He wasn't about that at all. Not the first or second time I met him."
The teen snorted, trying to keep from bursting into more peals of laughter. "I mean, would you believe it? He said I was 'creepin'. Me, a creep!" As if he hadn't been accused of that a thousand times before. "Apparently, I'm 'real good at making s**t weird between us'. Kept trying to get away from me." Kit shrugged, sneering. "Fun as it is to mess with him, though, you were the one I called out here. If you're fine with it just being the two of us this time, I think I'd prefer that."
Raising his brows at the mention of the snow melting, he chuckled and glanced around. "Heh...that's a good question. Hopefully they don't come alive and start attacking us or draining our energy." Nodding toward his bag of jars, he added, "That's where we come in."

She resisted the attempts to reclaim the bag, at first. Arm shifting out and back, away from his reaching fingers. There was no reason for her to hold onto it, but she took a considerable amount of pleasure n being a bit of a pain in the a**, and Kit had proven himself entirely too fun to tease. "Maybe I should tell him how much you hate water, get him a squirt bottle to carry around," she mused thoughtfully, head tipping to the side to rest her temple on his shoulder as they walked. Eyes rolled up to watch his expression as she pushed at his buttons. Knowing Clay, and knowing Kit, she could only imagine the train-wreck that came from their clashing personalities. Cassie had somehow managed to bridge the gap between them, getting along with the both of of them, despite the obvious differences in their personalities. "I still think that's weird, by the way." She relinquished the bag when he made a grab for it this time. "That dislike of water thing. You're like a cat." Cassie loved the water. She would have laughed at the idea of the glittering snowflakes coming alive or draining them, but it was too much a possibility. "I'm not sure we have enough jars for all the crystal flakes in the city," she pointed out reasonably. Which didn't mean she wasn't still keen on collecting some. They were pretty, and she'd like to keep some.

For someone who didn't have the tolerance for childishness, Kit found himself pretty amused by Cassie's game of keep away. He supposed it was only fair after he'd stolen her hat.
Plucking it off his head, he stretched it back over hers, taking care to cover her eyes so as to further inconvenience her while he made another pass for his bag of jars. "Alright, alright, here! Trade you back," he chuckled.
The mention of the squirt bottle caused Kit to freeze as if he'd just been sprayed in the face. His jaw dropped comically. "You wouldn't. Just who's side are you on? Why would you ruin my fun like that?" Though he did his best to feign despair, his grin kept trying to claw its way back onto his face.
At last, Cassie allowed him his bag back. Kit stared down at it thoughtfully. "Yeah...it has to do with my sister," he murmured, his expression dimming a tad before brightening right back up. "What about you? Got any siblings?"
Now that he finally had his bag back, he set it down on the snow-scattered sidewalk, crouched beside it, and took out a few jars. "Yeah, probably not. But maybe if we capture enough, we can hold them hostage against the others." He shrugged and held up one of the glass containers to offer Cassie. "Or, y'know. Study them to learn their properties and defeat them that way."
